Chapter 1: [Redacted]

Timeframe: Unknown

Location: Unknown

"Guardian… Wake up guardian!" A musical voice cried out.

"Please…" the musical voice said tinged with desperation. Like a lover trying to coax his lover from death's embrace.

"I've told you already… I highly doubt she's going to wake up from whatever you both have been through. Even a machine with a human soul controlling it needs time to pull itself back together from the brink of destruction." A female British voice said tinged with impatience.

"I heard you the first time Miranda…" the musical voice said in frustration and anger.

"Then perhaps you will listen then Equalibrium and help me with my other patient that the Illusive Man wants brought back to life." Miranda said crossing her arms staring at the floating ball that was hovering over a unconscious robotic body.

The musical voice sighed in sadness and misery. "If only I had access to more light or if the Traveler existed in this universe. I could help her heal and wake up." Equalibrium said.

"Well seeing as how those options aren't available your just going have to be patient until she can pull herself back together again. We've already repaired her to your specifications with the equipment and resources you allowed us to use." Miranda said beyond frustrated with the floating ball who's singular focus seemed to be his partner on the table.

Sighing in frustration and exhaustion. "There's nothing more my team and I can do other then wait. We have the best minds looking at her schematics and even they don't fully understand how she exists without subroutines and programs monitoring her functions." Miranda said a migraine growing in her head at dealing with two very difficult and complex projects that one mistake could mean losing one or both of her patients.

"Even I don't know the answers to that. It was technology built during their golden age and the minds that built her and her kind no longer exist where we come from." Equilibrium said.

Equalibrium sighed in exhaustion and loss. "…Fine i'll help you with your project Lazarus but I can't guarantee anything. Project Icarus as you fondly like to call her is all I care about. All I have left to connect me to the Traveler." Equilibrium said rubbing affectionately against the robot's cheek before turning away and floating after Miranda retreating form.

"Wake me when you need me." His other half had whispered to him before shutting down in order to survive their ordeal to the new universe they found themselves in.

"I need you now…" Equilibrium said brokenly. As he left the room to catch up to Miranda missing the comatose body's fingers twitching before fisting.
