Disclaimer: No.
Thor didn't understand. He so desperately wanted to understand! Loki lied and tried to kill him, they fought and now they were hanging off the edge of the Bifrost.
"I could have done it, father! For you! For all of us!" The raw desperation in Loki's voice physically hurt."No, Loki." Two simple words. Two simple words that destroyed him. He saw what Loki planned to do a moment too late.
"Loki NOOOOOOOO!!!" His brother refused to heed him, letting go. Thor continued to scream because a part of him died with his brother. How could two simple words break them both. It had shattered Loki, but what was Thor if not broken by the loss of his brother? Of all the things father could have said, why would he say that?! No Loki.
What happened to turn his little brother into the feral, battle hungry person? What had he missed? Was that how he was before banishment? Craving battle and blood and death and glory? I don't understand.
"Why are you doing this?!" He was so confused.
"So that Father will see that I am the worthy son! When he wakes, I will have saved his life and destroyed a race of monsters!" 'When I grow up, I'll hunt the monsters down and slay them all!'
"You cannot kill an entire race!" Whether he was speaking to Loki or his past self, Thor wasn't sure. What did I miss?! Help me understand!
"Why not?" Loki laughed, echoing the look in his eyes; maniacal. What happened?!
"You would have done it with your bare hands!" Perhaps I would've, but why are you doing it?! What happened to my quiet little brother that liked to read and play pranks?
"I've changed."
"So have I, now fight me!" Why?!
"I will not fight you brother!" I won't, just help me understand! Why are you doing this?!
"What's this new found love for the Frost Giants? What on Earth caused you to go so soft? Don't tell me it was that women? Oh, it was, well maybe when we're finished here, I'll pay her a visit." Loki would never do something like that. The Loki you knew would never, this Loki, this is not your brother. What happened?! What is this new found hate for the Frost Giants?! If Loki wants to fight, fine! He had to protect Jane.
Fighting proved to be his greatest mistake.
"I could have done it father! For you! For all of us!"
"No, Loki."
"Loki NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" Loki let go. Over and over and over again. Plaguing his dreams and nightmares. Every time he let his mind wander, Loki was there, pleading, begging for help. Leaving Thor alone, killing them both in an endless loop.
I'm crying for help, it's such a cliche
