"Hey, wake up. Wake up... Hmm, this isn't working." A voice sighed.

"Wow, I thought talking to the unconscious Treecko and nudging it was certainly going to wake it up." Another voice joked. I could practically hear their eyes roll.

"Uagh..." I groaned. My eyes opened, but I couldn't see. My eyes were blurry, everything was too bright. It hurt to keep my eyes open for long. Eventually my eyes began to hurt less, but I was still unwilling to open them. Something behind me was in pain as well. I figured I just had a rough landing, since it was quite a sudden experience.

"He's alive!" One shouted. I sat up slowly, not feeling very well. I was dizzy, tired, and in a bit of pain. My body felt wrong

"No, I died and stole this body from someone." I stated. My eyes adjusted to the light finally. I saw the two speaking to me were an Oshawott and a Cyndaquil. I was in a forest, sitting next to a small pond. The trees were shifting in a breeze above, but their trunks blocked the majority of the wind. The shifting of the leaves made the light go from bright to dark and back fairly quickly, which hurt my eyes somewhat.

"Huh? How do I know that?" I wondered. Something in my head told me it was just something instinctual I had. Well, that was convenient, at least. I'd know what something was without having to learn about it. A small rush of info came to me, including that I was something called 'Treecko'. I didn't quite get it, but I shrugged my shoulders. I probably should have been panicking, but I wasn't thankfully.

"That's closer to the truth than you realize." The feminine voice from before said. The two Pokémon couldn't hear it, but I could. I guess it was for the best that way, no need to cause anyone to panic if we didn't need to.

"What? Explain." I demanded. She heard my thought and gave me an answer.

"The body you had did die, we healed the injuries that killed it. We do that with all humans who come to this world. However, we make sure they are wild first, so they don't have families." It responded.

"That's crazy, but okay." I thought.

"Hello?" The Oshawott wondered. Apparently I had been staring into space for a while.

"Huh? Oh, sorry, I'm a bit distracted." I admitted. I shook my head, trying to focus my thoughts a little, but it just wasn't working.

"What're your names?" I asked. I wasn't able to focus on much, but I could at least fake being focused, I did that all the time in school.

"Flame" Flame, the Cyndaquil, responded. I looked at the Oshawott.

"Squirt." Squirt said, a bit embarrassed. He was blushing. I would ask why, but I didn't want to dwell on it much.

"My name is... ..." I thought a moment. Should I use my real name, or a fake name? I decided to use my real name. It would be easier because I probably would slip up anyway.

"Well?" Flame asked.

"John." I responded.

"Odd name." Squirt mentioned.

"Yeah it is, Squirt." I retorted.

"Hrm." He grunted. He wasn't happy I said that.

"Even in a new body I'm just as sarcastic as before. Hurry for consistent brain pattern things!" I thought. I thought about what I was doing there, to save someone or something. That could wait until I was a little less confused and a bit more alert. I figured I needed to do something, or say something at least. A casual conversation, I figured, could get me some useful information.

"Where am I?" I asked.

"Near the Mountainous Woods, how did you get here?" Flame answered then asked. That info wasn't very helpful, though I shouldn't have expected it to be.

"No clue. I'm, I, um. Uh, I'm not actually sure where I am still. 'Near the Mountainous Woods' isn't very specific." I stated. It wasn't entirely lying there, I was being dishonest, though. I thought it would be better if I didn't reveal I was human. Who knows, maybe humans were revered, but maybe they were hated. The voice said they didn't exist in this world any more, maybe they were all killed by these creatures. Yeah, maybe the last humans were killed by a dark blue and yellow anteater and a blue otter with a shell on it's stomach, that sounded so possible. Even then I didn't figure these guys had anything to do with that. Regardless, even if I had told them, I don't know if they would believe me anyway. Then the voice from before spoke to me. It sounded a bit worried.

"I wasn't able to completely fix your body. You are missing half your tail. I stopped you from feeling the full pain before, but now the connection between us is weakening. You will feel the full force of the pain now. I- I'm sorry. I was in a rush." I was sitting on it, so I don't think the two others noticed. Suddenly the numbing feeling went away and a sharp pain jolted through me, causing me to jump a bit. I felt something wet behind me. The pain suddenly surged, as if somebody chopped off my arm.

"Agh! AH!" I screamed, suddenly jumping onto my feet before collapsing onto my knees. I screamed loud enough that a murder of Murkrow flew off in a panic.

"That was loud... What's wrong? Waahh!" Flame shouted. Apparently they hadn't noticed, either. That wasn't surprising, but it was odd they didn't notice the blood pooling behind me. There had to be several gallons there, which seemed impossible. Though to be fair, human biology was never my best subject, and I'm not human anymore either.

"H-here, take an Oran berry..." Oshawott said. He looked sickly pale at the sight of my deep red blood. The berry he gave me was a small, round, and dark blue berry. I cautiously bit into it, not sure I would like the taste. It was hard like rubber, chewing it took time. It did taste great, if a bit dry, weirdly. Nothing seemed to happen.

"I didn't think that would work." Oshawott admitted.

"I'm not feeling good." I said. I was feeling dizzy, my head was spinning and my legs felt like bricks.

"We have to get him home! He needs to go to the hospital!" Oshawott shouted.

"Do you think you can walk?" Cyndaquil asked.

"Yeah, but I don't know for how long." I responded.

"We'll help you if you collapse." Oshawott said. They helped me get off the ground and we started walking. Limping along, we headed off somewhere. I didn't know where I was going, but I figured I was going to die if I didn't trust them, so it didn't matter if they tried to kill me. The path wasn't very hilly, the wind was blowing, the sun was shining, and the trees almost seemed to sparkle. It would have been a nice walk if I wasn't bleeding. After a long enough walk, well I say walk but they were half dragging me at the end of it. We made it to a large building. It was obvious as to tell what it was, a hospital. What other place would have a sign saying 'Pokémon Hospital' above the door? Though the sign next to it confused me even more than I already was about the situation I was in. This is a world I am unfamiliar with, so there was probably context behind it.

The sign read, "For extraordinary care for all Rescuers, Explorers, Adventurers, Shopkeepers and more!" I didn't understand what it meant at that point, but I would eventually realize it's a brand slogan.

"Come on, stop reading the signs and get inside. It's like you haven't seen a hospital before." Squirt commanded. I entered the building, followed by the other two. A Blissey was at the wooden desk. She seemed friendly and caring from the smile she had.

"Hello! Welcome to the Poké... Ah!" She rang a bell to her right and some other Pokémon came. It was a Chansey, an Alakazam, and a Magby. The Blissey picked me up gently. She was talking to the others as we rushed off somewhere. Squirt and Flame followed me. The oval pink Pokémon popped up next to the frilly pink Pokémon.

"How did this happen?" A Chansey asked.

"I don't know, we'll have to ask him once he's in better condition." A Blissey replied. I ended up being rushed to an indoor field. The floor was grass, the sun was shining, but there were walls surrounding us. There were also multiple partly stone huts with stone floors, some partly covered in a thin fabric that was probably a rug. They each had a straw roof. I say "partly stone" because the base up to about halfway is stone before it becomes a deep brown wooden structure. A Psyduck in one room had a red bandage around its head. I doubt it was red to start with. A paras had a cast around one front and back leg. There were more scenes of pain like that. It was easy to tell that this hospital was able to cater for severely wounded Pokémon. That was I was put into a hut near the back of the room. I was laid onto a hay bed.

"Should we cauterize it?" Magby asked. My head perked up for a moment.

"Yes, but be careful." Blissey responded.

"Wait a second..." I said, trying to object. I was ignored and they held me down. They wasted no time and burned the end of my tail.

"AUAERAEAAH!" I screamed. The initial pain from the burn was worse than the original wound! When the pain from the burn faded, it didn't hurt as much in general, though I'm unsure if that was due to adrenaline, or my brain just failing to process everything.

"You three watch him. I have something I need to do." blissey said with haste. She left in a hurry. The others were checking my pulse, my tail stub, and my eyes before but stopped then. I wondered why, and I got my answer. An argument started just outside the room. I couldn't see it, but I could hear it quite easily.

"Why did you let him walk!"

"He's alive, though!" Oshawott responded.

"He could have died!"

"He would be dead if we weren't there!" One of them retorted.

"You could have carried him! You should have carried him!"

"Sorry!" They both said. They sounded quite terrified. After the pink frilly oval had successfully cowed the two of them, I could hear her sigh.

"I haven't seen a missing tail in years! You are lucky he is a treecko! They can regrow their tails, but it is extremely hard on their bodies to both lose and regrow tails. If he was any other Pokémon, he would have died by now!" She yelled. I heard her take a deep breath before she came back in here, completely calm again and with a smile on her face. She knew we heard that entire thing, but was at least faking being calm.

"You should get nutrients for him. Tails don't regrow easily." Alakazam stated. He didn't seem upset, but certainly didn't look happy, either. Was he upset about her yelling?

"I'm sorry about the noise I made. I'll get the nutrients." She said while leaving.

I was a bit dizzy still, but one thought clearly rung out in my mind, "What kind of chaos did I let myself get into this time?"

So I'm writing this while pretty sick with a cold. Ah well, it gives me more time to write I suppose. Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy!
