(The Dodgeball Game)

*March 5th, 1941*

*10:21am*

*Highlands High School*

It was a sunny day at Highlands High School as Anya, Nancy, and Charlotte had a dodgeball game during their gym class.

"Good Morning Class! Today's activity is Dodgeball. The rules are rather simple, There will be two teams of ten meaning that you must eliminate most of the rival team before the twenty time limit is up and the team who has either the most people or can defeat the other team wins the match…" The Coach had explained to his class as he was met with nods of understandment from everyone as he proceeded to put everyone into their respective teams.

"I hope that you and Nancy can be on the same team as me cause I would HATE to face off against my friends in ANY game!" Charlotte had spoken to Anya and Nancy as she was met with a nod of agreement from Anya while Nancy shook her head in disagreement.

"It's fun to have a little spice in our new friendship like I think it's gonna be fun if we have to be in different teams but only the two of us will have to be in the same team while one will have to face against us so let's hope that Coach Jones is able to make this game interesting" Nancy had added on to the conversation as she saw Coach Jones putting each of the students in different teams as he had gotten closer to the trio.

"Being a good sportsman is what truly matters and not who can easily win so let's do our best, okay?" Anya had spoken to Charlotte and Nancy with a smile on her face as she was met with the pair giving her a thumbs up as they saw Coach Jones approaching them.

"The three of you ladies are in the blue team, I can see that the three of you can actually deliver this team into victory. The blue team had never won a dang game in their life so use that teamwork of yours.." Coach Jones had spoken to the ladies as he saw the trio's faces lit up with joy.

"Don't worry, We will! You can count on us!" Anya had responded back in a confident tone of voice as she gave Charlotte and Nancy a high-five as the trio made their way towards the blue team.

"I'll handle throwing the ball while you and Charlotte try yall best to NOT get hit okay? I can't afford to lose my friends during this game so make sure you follow my lead okay?" Nancy had advised Anya and Charlotte as she was met with nods of understandment from the pair as she heard Charlotte beginning to speak.

"I really get nervous during these types of games but I'll do my best to make sure that my friends and this team wins this game!" Charlotte had spoken back to Nancy in a mixture of confidence and timidness as she suddenly heard laughter coming from the opposite team as this made her look at the direction in which the laughter was coming from.

"So, You intend to defeat us once more? I know we're classmates but the blue team doesn't compare to the might of the red team!" A young boy called out in a tone of confidence as he chuckled some more.

"He's right! All we need to do is take out the so-called strong man then we'll take on the beautiful ladies right there!" The second young boy called out as he adjusted his glasses in the process as he chuckled as well.

"Who are we? It's simple: We're the triple threat that can easily deliver this team into victory! Thomas, Charles, and me, Joseph!" Joseph cried out in pure joy as the boys let out a joyful scream as this brought annoyance to Charlotte, Anya, and Nancy as they simply rolled their eyes at them.

"These guys! They're SO annoying! We really need to beat them so they can learn how to be a good sportsman!" Charlotte had spoken to her friends in sheer annoyance as she was met with nods of understandment from them.

"She's right! This means we have to stick to Nancy's plan for a while…" Anya had spoken back as she heard the whistle blowing indicating that the game had begun as many people ran for the six balls that were lined up in the center of the court.

"Stay calm and lock on to your targets! Just like my adoptive parents taught me!" Nancy thought to herself as she ran towards the ball while dodging the other 4 balls that were being thrown towards her team as this was being seen by Anya and Charlotte.

"She's fast! She's dodging them like it's nothing but we can't help her! We must stay as far away as we can, just like she said but maybe…" Anya had thought to herself as she quickly ran towards the ball that was sitting on the floor in the midst of the chaos as she picked it up as she heard the coach's voice.

"Wanda is out! Deborah is out! Russell is out! Andrew is out! Jeffery is out! Alfred is out! and Ernest is out!" Coach Jones cried out to the four people that were on the blue team as they were forced to watch from the sidelines as this caught Anya by surprise.

"They're out already?! I mean, They were never that good but Thomas, Joseph, and Charles are not to be taken lightly! I must use this ball and aim for my target!" Anya said to herself as she positioned her body as she aimed the ball at Joseph as this was being seen by him.

"I see that Anya intends to eliminate me eh? I hope she knows that it's pointless since more balls will be coming her way…" Joseph had quietly said to himself with a smile on his face as he heard names from his team being eliminated which caught him by surprise.

"Don, Barry, Glenn, Anne, Eddie, Mike, and Maria are eliminated from the red team!" Coach Jones had spoken loudly as the eliminated people were forced to watch from the sidelines as he had a smile on his face.

"That Nancy girl sure is something! She's very good for a woman! Her speed, reaction, and everything else are splendid! She could win this!" Coach Jones thought to himself as he continued to watch the game with great enthusiasm in his face.

"Three people already?! This game is intense but It's thanks to Nancy and her wonderful skills!" Charlotte had thought to herself as she saw the ball being thrown towards her with great speed as she suddenly heard a voice.

"CHARLOTTE, LOOK OUT!" Nancy had cried out in a panic tone of voice as this quickly snapped Charlotte back into reality.

"Oh dear!" Charlotte had cried out as she quickly caught the ball with one hand as this caught everyone by surprise as many gasps and whispers erupted from the court.

"Charlotte caught that ball?! I never thought I'd see the day!" Russell had said to himself as he was met with a nod of agreement from his friend Wanda.

"She'd usually be out by now but I guess it's all thanks to that new girl named Nancy…" Wanda had spoken back as she turned her direction to the court.

"But, This is where the game REALLY begins. It's Team Anya vs Team Joseph…" Wanda had thought to herself as she continued to watch the game with great focus along with her other classmates.

"Focus, Just aim at his shoulder. You can do this! You can win!" Anya quietly said to herself as she took deep breaths as she was prepared to throw the dodgeball at her target as she was met with cheers from Charlotte.

"You can do this! We have three balls while they have the other three but now we can eliminate those three together!" Charlotte had cheered for Anya in a motivated tone of voice as she stood by her friend's side as this was followed by Nancy.

"You're Anastasia's daughter, right? Show them who you really are!" Nancy had advised her friend with a smile on her face as the trio were ready to launch their attack on Team Joseph.

"You can't win, We'll show you ladies the true power of teamwork…" Charles had spoken against the trio as he and his friends were ready to launch their balls as well as the court was nothing but silence.

"Alright! Here goes! Let's show these guys that The power of Anya, Charlotte and Nancy!" Anya cried out in sheer determination as she and her friends threw the balls towards their targets.

"Let's show these fools that they'll never taste victory…" Joseph had advised his friends as he, Charles, and Thomas as he was met with nods of agreement from them as they had thrown the balls as well as three sounds were heard indicating that three people were hit as the whistle blew.

"With the eliminations of Joseph, Charles, Charlotte, Anya, and Thomas. This means what Nancy wins! The blue team wins!" Coach Jones announced with great joy in his voice as many cheers erupted from the court.

"We-We won! It's all thanks to you!" Anya had cried out in joy as she hugged Nancy warmly as Nancy returned the favor.

"No, It was you and Charlotte. You both pitched in and helped so It was ALL of us…" Nancy had spoken back with a warm smile on her face as she felt a touch on her shoulder to see Joseph standing behind her.

"Good game, I never thought we would be beaten yet here we are. You three are something else but next time! We won't be beaten!" Joseph cried out to Nancy in a motivated tone of voice before ending the small talk with a smile on his face as he ran off to his team.

"You did wonderful! I'm so proud of you! I just knew you could do it!" Charlotte had spoken to Nancy as she gave her a hug which made Anya smile warmly.

"My mother always told me how lonely her friend Kaede was before their encounter and the same thing is happening with Nancy. As long as she has people like me and Charlotte then everything is gonna be okay for her.." Anya thought to herself as she smiled warmly as she looked at the beautiful skies knowing that their futures were bright.
