Toshinori sat across from his green haired successor, "Listen Midoriya-Kun, you've come an incredibly long way from the boy you were a year ago." Izuku's bright green eyes hung onto every word the blonde emaciated man said as he ate, his heart warming with every word he uttered. "I can safely say your body is a proper vessel for my Quirk, so it's time to move onto the next phase of your training!" He exclaimed and blushed as the surrounding customers shushed him with angry glares.
"Sorry." Toshinori said to the surrounding consumers, getting a giggle out of the green haired boy.
"Anyway I want you to rest for the month, Sleep in, watch cartoons, hang out with friends, and then on the first of April.." the blue eyed man took a napkin and wrote down a address,
"Come here, at the usual time and I'll explain what we have to do next." Izuku's face set in a determined frown and nodded.
"I won't let you down, Yagi-Sensei!" The freckled greenette exclaimed and then cowered in his seat as the surrounding customers in the restaurant shushed him, causing his mentor to laugh.
The emaciated blonde smirked at the blushing boy, "Karma." Toshinori simply stated.
...
Izuku sat next to his shy indigo and bright blonde friends, helping them design their costumes after his lunch with Toshinori.
"Nononono, the top should be bright yellow and the cape should be white, Izuku-Kun!" Mirio told the greenette. "And the million should be bright blue matching my pants!" Tamaki cringed imagining all those bright colors clashing together.
"Oh,oh no Mirio..." the indigo haired teen muttered, causing the blue eyed teen to pout slightly.
"Mirio-Kun! Green would be a better color for the top of your costume! The color is perfect for Heroics!" The greenette argued his case, "It's calming and gives out a feeling of peace and security. Also the cape should definitely be red, to balance out the green!" Tamaki sighed as they continued back and forth.
"I agree, Izuku-Kun but green is just not my color!" The fair skinned blonde told the younger teen. "You know this!" Mirio threw his hands up in exasperation but after a few moments, he looked at the greenette and nodded his head with partial agreement. "But, the more I think about it the more I'm liking the red cape idea." Izuku clocked his arm back in victory.
"Okay, that's enough costume talk for now. It's Tamaki-Kun's birthday tomorrow and we need to decide what to do." Mirio told the freckled teen who nodded rapidly, the both of them ignoring the spluttering of their blushing, indigo friend.
...
The three teens sat shoulder to shoulder in a dingy old ramen shop that Tamaki loved. "I love you guys so much." Tamaki stated as he swallowed his fifth plate of Takoyaki and got large grins from both his friends.
" "Love you too!" " The blonde and green haired boys told their usually shy and reserved friend that was drunk on the octopus.
...
Izuku loved almost every moment of his vacation. Hanging out with Mirio and Tamaki, watching all the movies and anime he missed over the year, sleeping in until noon.
But despite all that, he still kept up some basic body exercises to keep him in tip-top shape, the greenette was pretty sure he was an exercise junkie now but well, there were a lot more worse things to be.
So the greenette wasn't too worried about it.
Still Izuku was excited to start working again, he missed pushing himself and becoming the very best version of who he was.
Izuku stood in front of an old, worn down boxing gym with a confused frown, he took a moment to analyze the seemingly abandoned building. The emerald eyed teen reached the doorknob and turned, stepping inside, where his jaw immediately dropped.
"Wow.." the greenette muttered looking at the brand-new, almost sparkling exercise equipment, that was scattered across the navy blue room; an ascending-descending treadmill, a heavy looking white punching bag with a matching speed ball hanging off the ceiling, and a multi target boxing stand.
There was also a weight bench, an arm and leg press, twin ropes that were thicker than All Might's arms, attached onto the opposite wall, and a pull-up bar right next to it, hanging off the wall. Tying the room together was a bright red boxing ring that stood right in the middle of the room.
Izuku was so awed by everything in the room, he didn't notice the door opening, revealing his mentor. "Midoriya-Kun, right on time as always, I see." Toshinori chuckled lightly at the teen, who jumped several meters in the air.
"Yagi-Sensei!" he screamed in surprise but before long, a full blown smile stretched across his face. "This place is amazing!" he exclaimed with awe clear in his eyes.
"I know my boy!" Yagi told the boy who blushed red. "So before we begin..." Toshinori reached into his bag and took out a familiar binder, "Your life planner for the next year! it has improved meal plans to keep up with the demands of your new workout schedule, more difficult body exercises, and a similar sleep schedule from the past year that has been modified for your new and tougher schedule." The emaciated blonde explained, passing the binder to the teen and getting a nod in return.
Izuku quickly looked through it and grew a small frown."You want me to spend Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday afternoons at this address, why?" Izuku asked the blonde who immediately answered.
"Well, for the next phase of your training we're going to toughen up your joints and ligaments, to lessen the strain that One For All will have on your body! The best and simplest way to do that is to learn how to fight." Toshinori began explaining, getting a nod of understanding. "I can teach you boxing but only that, I have no experience fighting with my legs but lucky for us, I have an old friend who is a ninth degree black belt in Taekwondo that has agreed to take you on as a personal student." Izuku's eyes widened with excitement and his blonde mentor grinned.
"Now let's begin." Izuku nodded, stripping off his hoodie and shoes. "As you read in the binder; in the mornings you will come here everyday and start your exercises, then In the afternoons on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, I will instruct you on boxing techniques." Izuku began stretching, loosening his muscles and after several moments he walked over to the weight bench, "Now you should be able to handle about a hundred pounds, we'll start with that and work our way up." Izuku nodded and laid down, his blonde teacher placed the weights on the bar.
...
Toshinori stood in front of his student, "Okay my boy, put your dominant foot back with your other foot in front and keep your knees bent." The blonde helped place the greenette's foot correctly. "Now keep your elbows down, hands up, and follow the same rule with your feet; dominate hand back and the other in front, keep your chin down and your eyes up." The Symbol of Peace continued to adjust the boys' form.
"Now as you punch, put your entire weight behind it." Izuku nodded and punched the white bag. "Good but you'll be liable to break your thumb, wrapping your fingers around it, like that." The Pro Hero took the boy's hand and wrapped his thumb around his finger. "Now, do it again." The greenette punched the bag once more.
"Good, good. Now do it again, until your knuckles bleed and then we'll switch up your stance." Toshinori demanded, getting a hestaint nod of understanding.
...
Toshinori disinfected his students' bleeding hands, ignoring the freckled face teen's wincing. "You did great today, my boy." Izuku grinned at the man.
"Thanks Yagi-Sensei!" The bushy haired teen exclaimed, with a large grin across his freckled face.
...
An orange haired girl with teal eyes, stood across from an older gray haired man with similar colored orbs. Both of them were wearing a white martial arts gi with black belts.
The girl ran towards the man and leaped in the air, clocking her right arm back and after a moment her hand enlarged, she pushed it forward aiming for his body but before it could connect, the older man dodged.
The orangette's hand quickly shrunk back to normal as she landed onto the ground and she caught the older man's elongated leg. After a moment it snapped back to its regular length, dragging the girl with it and with a decisive roundhouse kick to the head, disoriented her.
As the teal eyed teen struggled to keep her balance, the older man wasted no time and swept her legs, forcing her to land on her back. "You're getting better princess, you lasted more than twenty seconds." The man stated with clear respect in his tone.
"Please don't patronize me, dad." Kendo Itsuka groaned in annoyance, getting a chuckle out of her father.
"KNOCK, KNOCK." The duo looked at the door, seeing a clear outline of a person, the man walked towards the door as the female teen heaved herself onto her butt, looking confused at the entrance.
She heard a boy's voice that seemed to be laced with an odd mixture of awe, excitement and a twinge of fear going by the stutter. "Hello S..s..Sir! My name is Midoriya Izuku a..a..And Yagi Toshinori told me, you would train me." Izuku told the man who hummed letting the boy into the dojo.
The orange haired girl titled her head looking at the freckled face greenette.'Plain but he's kinda cute.' she thought to herself.
"Welcome Midoriya-San. I must admit I was surprised to learn Toshi had accepted a disciple. That man never seemed like the teaching type." he told the boy who immediately shook his head in denial.
"Yagi-Sensei, is a great teacher sir! I wouldn't be even a quarter of an inch of where I am today, without him!" The greenette exclaimed with steel in his voice, surprising the father and daughter duo, the former of the two, hiding it alot better as he simply nodded.
"Where are my manners, I'm Kendo Arihi and this..." he pointed to his daughter who waved slightly at the boy who immediately blushed and waved back. "Is Itsuka; she is my prize student." the man glowed in pride over his daughter causing said girl to roll her eyes.
"Now Toshi told me about your training and I must say, I'm impressed." Itsuka raised an eyebrow in question, "Cleaning that filthy beach by yourself in only a year is amazing." Itsuka's eyes widened at that information.
"That was you?!" Izuku's ears seemed to catch on fire at her awed expression, "That's amazing! My dad and I love that beach! We go there whenever we have the time." She told the boy who nodded trying desperately not to embarrass himself in front of the incredible cute girl.
Arihi waved off his daughter. "Yes, yes very impressive but now we must know the fruits of its labor. Midoriya-San, can you remove your hoodie please." The boy nodded and stripped off the clothing, causing the girl's face to become as red as a tomato.
Arihi nodded in slight appreciation, as he looked at the highly defined thirteen year old's six going on eight pack. He noticed several, larger than average muscles he only saw on himself and his higher level students but his small smile dropped into a scowl. "How did you get those burn scars on your shoulders and stomach?" Arihi's hash voice rang in the greenette's ears, causing him to flinch slightly.
"A fr...fr..friend of mine is a...a little rough..." Izuku muttered to the man whose face twisted into a harsher, more prominent scowl.
"Whoever gave you those scars isn't your friends." he stated to the teen getting a nod of agreement.
Arihi sighed after a few moments and took a deep, calming breath. "Enough of that." The older, olive skinned man, stated to the room, ignoring the narrow eyes of his daughter. "Toshi tells me to push you as far as I can, he wants you to be a black belt after a full year of training." Itsuka's eyes widened in disbelief.
"That's not possible!" The slightly pale girl exclaimed to her father, "At minimum, it would take three years to go from a complete beginner to a black belt!" Izuku looked towards the man who nodded slightly. "He would have to be a complete genius at martial arts to even come close and still, that only shaves off maybe a year or two if I'm being generous." Izuku felt his body twitch at that, wondering if he could truly fulfill the goal Yagi-Sensei apparently set out for him.
The greenette looked towards the gray haired man who nodded, "She's right." Izuku's shoulders dropped and his eyes found the floor incredibly interesting.
'Is he going to give up?' Itsuka wondered, slightly relieved. 'If he tried gaining a black belt in only a year he would likely cripple himself.' The relief she felt disappeared as soon as the freckled face boy looked up with fire in his eyes.
"I don't care." he stated, receiving a raised eyebrow from the man and an open mouth expression from the girl. "Yagi-Sensei is counting on me, a lot of people are counting on me to become the very best version of myself as soon as possible. If I stop now before I even tried then Sensei should have just left me to die." he told the gray haired man who smiled in glee.
Itsuka shuddered at the look her father and teenage boy were sharing, "Okay… then let's begin." Arihi walked away from the boy and traveled to a nearby room, filling the room with a deafening silence.
After a few moments the older man walked back into the room with rope clear in his hands. "Take off your shoes." he ordered towards the boy who listened in rapt attention.
"The first lesson is balance and pacing, I'm going to tie your arms behind your back and tie your ankles together." The teal eyed Martial Artist began explaining, as he wrapped the boy's wrist together. "Then you're going to bunny hop around the room, taking deep breaths through your nose every time you squat and release it through your mouth, every time you jump up." He crouched at the ground and tied the greenette ankles together tightly.
"Remember, breathing is everything in Martial Arts." Izuku nodded at the advice. "Now… begin." Izuku, as he crouched down, took a deep breath through his nostrils, and as he jumped, released it from his mouth.
...
Izuku felt sweat dripping from every pore in his face, his legs were burning in agony but he refused to stop.
Izuku didn't know how many hours passed but Itsuka soon left after his twenty-fifth lap, he was now on a hundred and two. "Stop." The greenette obeyed the command from his new Sensei, the much taller man that stood a few inches shorter than Toshinori, stepped in front of him and untied his wrists and ankles. "Good job today kid. Now before we leave, I'm going to show you some stretches that will help you become more flexible. I expect you by the end of the next week, to be able to perform the splits and if you can't, I'll no longer consider you my student." Izuku's eyes widened in surprise and fear, the greenette nodded rapidly.
The gray haired Martial Artist nodded decisively and soon showed the stretches he wanted the boy to do for the next two weeks.
...
Izuku honestly felt like he was in Hell, considering the pain he was in.
He once thought cleaning that entire beach was hard but compared to what his two Sensei's were now putting him through, that was a literal cakewalk. "Your flexibility has definitely improved by great amounts. Honestly I'm surprised that you actually managed to learn the splits in two weeks but of course, maybe I shouldn't be considering what I've seen of you so far."
Itsuka could definitely understand her father's sentiment. After literally hundreds of bunny hops and then that grueling exercise, where her dad tied a cinder block to his ankles and forced him to do pull ups as the greenette kept his legs horizontal, made her tremble in sympathy pain.
The boy must have been in complete agony from all that and probably adding onto whatever his true master was putting him through.
The fact he actually succeeded in his task to learn the splits was impressive and a little scary.
Itsuka knew her father and knew him well. He didn't like it when his students took on too much or tried to push themselves too hard.
Arihi knew what those types of actions could lead to and so for those type of students he would assign growling, impossible, and downright agonizing tasks that would force them to give up and learn that despite their powers or previous training, they were still human and needed to pace themselves.
Izuku wasn't like that at all.
Itsuka knew how hard those bunny hops were, her dad designed that exercise the way he did to be as uncomfortable, painful, and tiring as humanly possible but Izuku wouldn't stop.
No matter how many hours passed, how sweaty he was, or how exhausted he became, he just continued. The week was done with him probably completing that exercise a thousand times.
The next exercise was designed to be extremely uncomfortable and exhausting, the orangette would be surprised if she could even do twenty of those reps but again, Izuku just kept going, despite the obvious agony he was in.
Adding onto the fact he learned the splits in two weeks where at minimum it should have taken him at least a month.
So yeah, he was a little scary. 'Maybe he has some kind of mental Quirk or an endurance Quirk.' Itsuka thought to herself and soon nodded in agreement.
Arihi stood in front of Izuku as Itsuka stood a little ways away, watching with interest. The older man moved into a stance that looked familiar to the boy as he trained with Yagi-Sensei, "Copy my stance."
Izuku nodded and easily fell into it, surprising the father and daughter duo. "Toshi isn't just helping you with fitness is he?" Arihi asked rhetorically, already knowing the answer, "He's also teaching you how to Box." The Kendo Patriarch immediately guessed.
After getting a confirming nod from the teen, his usual gentle face twisted into an angry scowl before relaxing.
"Okay." Arihi nodded with barely concealed anger, "As you may have guessed, I'll be teaching you the most basic Taekwondo technique; A side kick." Izuku nodded in understanding. "After I show you how it's done, you'll go over to the punching bag and begin practicing. You'll know when to switch sides." he told the greenette who had clear fire and steel in his eyes.
Arhi showed the freckled teen exactly how to side kick on both his sides and then quickly sent him off to practice with his arms tied behind his back. "Keep an eye on him princess, I'll be gone for a few hours." he told his daughter who nodded with slight worry.
Izuku immediately began practicing, focusing on his task. After about an hour of silence Itsuka finally asked, "So, um Midoriya-San, What's your Quirk." The greenette paused for a moment but soon continued.
"I'm… Quirkless." He told the girl who blinked in surprise and her jaw soon hung open.
"I..um.." Itsuka shook her head. " Wow." she muttered with slight awe in her eyes. Izuku turned to look at her with surprise; no pity, no disgust, just genuine awe. "You're amazing." Izuku blushed slightly and the orange haired girl followed his example.
"Th..thanks." Izuku nodded to the girl who returned it.
...
Arihi immediately texted Toshinori to meet him at an old coffee place they hung out when they were in U.A.
They sat across from each other, one angry and the other with an awkward stare as he drank his calming green tea. "I'm going to cut straight to the chase Toshi, why are you pushing Midoriya-San so hard?"
Toshinori opened his mouth to answer but Arihi wasn't done yet, "And don't you lie to me!" He exclaimed, ignoring the stares he was receiving from the other customers. "You asked me to take this complete stranger under my wing and I did. You've asked me to give him the harshest training imaginable and that's what I'm doing but I only did that because I thought I was his only teacher in Martial Arts." He angrily spat at the emaciated blonde.
"If I knew that on top of my training you would also be giving him your own hellish one, I would have never agreed!" Arihi took a deep breath, "You know how I feel about students who take on too much. You know how I cracked under the pressure when my own parents trained me to Hell and back and you know I would never want to do that to a child. So I'm going to ask you once and only once and if you lie to me, I will no longer consider Midoriya my student or you, my friend." Toshinori sighed and rubbed his hollow eyes.
"You know how I cheated my way into U.A's Hero course, right? How I lied about my Mettle Quirk and then in the first quarter of second year, I actually developed a power." Arihi raised a dry eyebrow and nodded.
"I didn't actually develop a Quirk, it was given to me." Arihi's eyes widened and then quickly narrowed.
"Like..." His eyes moved towards his side while the emaciated blonde winced before nodding.
"Kind of. My Quirk did come from him but that's a whole other story. The point is that I'm losing access to it, my body can't handle the strain anymore and I'm losing more and more time, so I need to find a successor." Arihi quickly formed the puzzle and his jaw hung open. "Izuku needs to be trained as harshly as possible because if I grant him my Quirk and his body isn't ready, he will cripple or kill himself."
...
As the bottom of Izuku's foot began to redden into a bright bruise where a sharp pain shot up the appendage and traveled to the rest of his body, the greenette changed legs and started the process again. "Okay, favorite pizza topping?" Izuku thought about it for a moment.
"Pineapple." Itsuka gagged.
"You disgusting monster!" Izuku laughed. "I can't believe you would defile something as amazing as pizza with fruit!"
Izuku scoffed at her, "I bet yours is something basic like pepperoni." Izuku teased the girl who blushed.
"Whatever, Mister Vanilla." she blew her tongue at the boy who seemed to become genuinely offended.
"I don't understand what's wrong with vanilla! What? Just because it's the first doesn't mean it's not the best, okay! If you ask me, they should have just stopped!" Itsuka gasped.
"You take that back!" Izuku shook his head and was about to retort when they heard the front door open.
"Princess, I'm back!" Arihi entered his dojo and quickly and tightly hugged his daughter. "Thanks for watching over Midoriya-San." The young teen female nodded in his chest.
"Now my new student, I can see from the bruises that you have done what I ask," Izuku nodded with a smile, " Good. Continue your stretches and work on your kicks and when I see you next time, we'll dial things up a notch." The teen nodded and when the man untied his arms he walked into the locker room to change clothes.
"Hey Princess, I want you to try and be friends with Midoriya-San." Itsuka looked at her father with a small frown wondering where this was coming from. "That boy has, has the world on his shoulders and I'm going to have to prepare him for it. If he's going to survive, he'll need friends that can help pick him up when he gets knocked down."
The orangette's confused frown turned into worry at her father's words and looked towards the looker room in concern.
Whatever her father learned when he was out must have been bad if his tone was anything to go by.
...
"Keep going Midoriya-Kun!" Toshinori encouraged the greenette.
Izuku was practicing several combos on the multi target boxing stand. "Left cross, right hook, left uppercut!" Izuku listened to his command. "Left jab, right cross, left uppercut, right cross!" Izuku struggled to control his breathing.
"And that's... two hours." Izuku stopped and took a deep breath.."You did good, my boy! Let's bandage those hands and you can go home." Izuku nodded as he rubbed his shaking hands.
...
On the third week of April Izuku stood outside of U.A, waiting for his two friends to be let out of school.
As usual, Mirio was smiling like the sun but Tamaki surprisingly had a small grin of his own. They loosely wore the U.A's uniform; a white dress shirt with green pants, a red tie and a gray suit jacket with three green straps at the wrist.
"Izuku!" The blonde tackled the younger boy into a hug. "You should have seen us Izuku-Kun! Our sensei gave us a surprise Quirk evaluation test and Tamaki and I got the top scores!" He brought over the indigo haired teen into a hug. "You should have seen how everybody was staring at this monster!"
"Hello!" A pale girl with long periwinkle hair that curled at her bangs and hips, her eyes were a similar light blue, greeted the trio with a female version of U.A's uniform. "You two, were amazing!'' She immediately told Mirio and Tamaki.
"Thanks!" Mirio smiled brightly at the teen.
"Thank you." Tamaki blushed slightly and looked towards the ground.
"I'm Hado Nejire!" She introduced herself, her eyes sparking with clear interest.
"Togata Mirio!" the cartoonish blonde pointed to himself.
"Amajiki Tamaki." waved slightly in greeting. She nodded and looked towards the greenette who blushed at her attention.
"Um.. Mi..midoriya Izuku!" he exclaimed loudly, trying his hardest not to stutter, causing Nejire to giggle slightly at his bright red face.
"I see from your uniform, you're still in middle school! Did you guys go to the same school?" Mirio and Tamaki shook their heads.
"Nope! We caught this guy cleaning the Takoba Municipal Beach, training to be a Hero! and we just kind of hit it off! He's the reason why both of us are as strong as we are!" Nejire's eyes seemed to sparkle at the information.
The girl looked at the younger and shorter teen and saw his bandaged hands, "Oh~, so you must be super strong! Did you spar with them everyday until they could get on your level!" The girl pumped her first up in the air with as much gusto as possible.
Izuku's eyes shot open and shook his head. "No! I'm, I'm just really into Quirks. I noticed a few things and pointed it out, th..that's really it." Nejire pouted a little until Mirio scoffed.
"Don't let his humble attitude fool you Hado-Chan! He spent hours helping train us to push our Quirks to the limit! He also Invented a food pill for Tamaki to use his abilities easier! And despite being our junior by two years, helped us study for the U.A entrance exam!" Nejire let out a slight 'ohhh' of appreciation. "He's an expert on all things Heroes!" Izuku blushed brightly at the compliment.
"Wow, Midoriya-Kun!" Izuku looked away from the cute expression on the blue haired girl's face. "You seem like a really good person!" The greenette wished he could just disappear or at least tone down his incredibly bright blush. "You know, I'm really into Quirks too! Maybe we can talk sometime and learn from each other!" She exclaimed with a bright smile that made Izuku want to melt into the ground.
But before the greenette could answer, Nejire took his hand and grabbed a pen from her pocket and wrote down her number. "Call me, okay!" Izuku looked at the number and nodded, unable to say anything and the girl soon skipped away.
A few moments passed as all three boys looked at the form of the retreating Nejire, "Slick, Izuku." Tamaki told the younger teen who sputtered while Mirio cackled in glee.
...
Two weeks later Izuku stood in front of a tennis cannon, "Faster, Midoriya!" Izuku struggled to properly block as his arms were firmly tied behind his back but despite that Arihi refused to take it easy on him.
He managed to block a high speed tennis ball being shot at him by a cannon with his knee but was then immediately hit in the balls.
"Ohh.." Itsuka winced and walked over to the down male teen who kneeled on the floor in pain.
...
A few days later Izuku was training with his predecessor, "Bob and weave, Midoriya!" Toshinori exclaimed to the greenette who was moving in between two sides of a rope that was stationed straight across the boxing ring. "Keep your hands up." Izuku immediately brought his fist up higher. "Watch your footwork!"
...
On a sunday afternoon Nejire sat across from Izuku in a local caffe wearing a red blouse and a blue skirt and black high tops while he wore a black shirt and jeans with green sneakers. "So Midoriya-Kun, what kind of Quirk do you have?" the blue haired girl asked with a fierce glint in her eyes.
"Oh, I..i..I'm Q..quirkless." he said awkwardly and Nejire gasped.
"And you're still trying to be a Hero!" Izuku nodded with hestaintion wondering if she would start making fun of me. "That's so cool!" Izuku's eyes widened and a smile crossed his face.
"Th..thanks. So what's your Quirk?" Izuku asked and a beautiful smile crossed her face.
"Well it's called Wave Motion! I can convert my vitality into pure energy which I can discharge as blast waves!" Izuku's eyes sparkled.
"That sounds incredible!" Nejire nodded in agreement but then pouted, her cheeks puffing up.
"The only problem is that the blasts are incredibly slow. The only real thing I can do with it is hover above the ground slightly." Izuku nodded with an almost hungry look in his eyes.
"Can you show me?" she nodded, Nejire brought her right hand up and a wave of golden energy softly left her pale palm and tickled Izuku's face.
"It's… beautiful." Nejire blushed slightly at the compliment but he soon shaked the awe off of himself. "Have you thought of concentrating the energy at a point in your hand and compressing it before releasing it? The energy build up could increase its speed." Nejire squinted in thought and looked at her hand with intense focus.
Both she and Izuku saw the middle of her hand had a glowing gold circle which slowly shrinked, making it glow more intensely.
After a minute she released the energy and both Nejire and Izuku missed the blast wave hitting the ceiling, creating a small hole that let the sunlight hit their faces.
Both teens looked at the hole in shock and didn't notice an employee walking over to them. "Ahem!" The two bright colored teens looked towards an angry barista.
Izuku raised his hand. "I'm so sorry, I'll… my... someone I know will pay for this, so please don't call the police." The greenette quickly fished out his phone and called someone.
After a few seconds someone picked up the other line. "Midoriya-Kun, is everything okay." Toshinori asked.
Izuku sighed, "Yes.." he looked at the angry employee and then the guilty looking Nejire. "Kind of. So I was hanging out with a new friend at a coffee shop and she..."
"She?" Izuku blushed slightly at All Might's suggestive tone and looked towards the side, avoiding Nejire's curious gaze.
"Yes, she." Nejire laughed slightly. "Anyway, um I was giving advice on her Quirk."
"Like you do on a date, go on." Toshinori laughed at this successor.
"Not a date!" He exclaimed and both teens blushed at his loud voice as the barista rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Anyways! We got a little too excited and um...sheendedupblowingasmallholeintheroof!" After a moment of silence Izuku, Nejire and the barista heard roaring laughter causing both teens' cheeks to darken even further.
"Okay, tell me the place's name and I'll come over and hand over a check." Izuku sighed in relief. "If you admit it's a date." Izuku sputtered and sighed.
He looked over to Nejire and mouthed a sorry which confused the older teen slightly, "Yes Yagi-Sensei, it's a date." Nejire felt her cheeks heaten up even further.
...
Toshinori walked into the coffee shop and soon saw Izuku with his date as a worker stood over them. "Midoriya-Kun!" He waved at the boy who sighed with relief.
"Thanks so much for this, Yagi-Sensei." Izuku told the man who nodded.
"Yes thank you, Yagi-San! And I'm so sorry about this!" Nejire bowed deeply to the man who waved her off.
"If you're getting Midoriya-Kun out of his shell then It was worth it." Izuku blushed and looked away.
...
Izuku was honestly getting used to having his arms tied behind himself after two full months with Arihi as his teacher. "You have learned several variations of the sidekick, the roundhouse kick, the split kick and now, we will practice the axe kick." Izuku nodded and paid attention as Arihi showed him the move.
As the two guys were in their own little world, Itsuka sat to the side in her gai, waiting for her father to finish his instruction, so they could continue their spar.
But as she watched the greenette staring intently at her father she smiled lightly. Even though it was a little annoying, she could look past it mostly because she really liked Izuku. He was funny when he wasn't stuttering so much and even then, she found it kinda adorable.
He was also kind of like an excitable puppy, in that he was passionate about everything but also, so in awe of it.
The magic never seemed to lessen for him.
He was serious when he had to be and didn't let anything stop him, whenever he was knocked down he just got back up, which she greatly respected!
Izuku was also a great friend who just seemed to get her and wasn't put off by her more masculine tendencies, probably because he was such a Hero nerd and admired as many female Heroes as he did male.
If the greenette wasn't so busy training then she was sure they could be more than friends but the orangette was pretty sure that if she asked him out now, they wouldn't work, mostly because they would never have time together to build a proper, romantic relationship.
At the moment it would be best to stay friends but as soon as they got into U.A or his training schedule lessened at all, then she would definitely ask him out!
...Of course that depended if she still liked him when that time came but she was pretty sure that wouldn't be a problem.
...
Izuku sat in the middle of Nejire and Itsuka as Mirio and Tamaki sat on Nejire's right side on a sunday night. "Thanks for inviting me, Midoriya-Kun. Mini-golf was really fun and I've been wanting to watch this movie for forever." Izuku smiled at the teal eyed teen. "It's also nice to meet some of your friends, they seem really cool." Izuku laughed slightly.
"They said the same about you." Itsuka blushed slightly. The light hanging off the theater wall darkened. "Oh, it's about to start!" Izuku exclaimed as his more excitable older friends started to vibrate along with him.
Itsuka continued to look at the greenette and smiled lightly before paying attention to the wall-sized screen.
...
The greenette like every weekday, waited outside of U.A's entrance for his three friends in the middle of June, "Izuku, Izuku!" Mirio tackled the waiting Midoriya with a large smile, Tamaki and Nejire just smiled behind him. "We got you and Kendo-Chan tickets for the U.A Sports festival this saturday!" Izuku's eyes widened in disbelief and a scream of excitement was released from his throat, returning Mirio's hug back.
"I love you guys so much!" Izuku screamed and Nejire couldn't resist anymore and jumped into the hug dragging Tamaki with her.
...
Itsuka smiled widely with anticipation, she wore a black top with blue jeans and white sneakers.
Izuku screamed with excitement, cheering on Mirio, Tamaki, and Nejire wearing a black t-shirt with the word 'Hero' written across it with white shorts and red sneakers.
"This is so cool!" Itsuka's shoulder bumped the greenette who laughed with endless joy, it was almost drowned out by the roaring crowd but somehow Itsuka could still hear him clearly.
"I know! And I'm glad you're here with me!" Izuku exclaimed to the orangette, who smiled brightly at the teen but soon both their focuses went back to the final fight of the Sports Festival.
Mirio appeared behind his opponent and with incredible strength punched the other Hero-in-training in the back of their head, knocking him out. "Togata Mirio Wins the final round of the U.A Sports Festival!"
"YESSS!" Izuku roared with the rest of the crowd as Itsuka hugged the greenette with joy.
"He did it!" Itsuka screamed in the greenette's ear. Izuku wrapped his arms against the girl's body as they jumped up and down.
...
The group of five were sitting in a Sushi restaurant, " " " "Congratulations!" " " " Izuku, Tamaki, Nejire and Itsuka exclaimed towards the blonde champion with plates of Sushi in front of them.
"Haha! I can't believe I actually won! This is the best day of my life!" Mirio told the group as he began stuffing his face with the meal.
...
On Tuesday afternoon Izuku breathed deeply, his arms tied against his shoulders and he was lying on his back in Arihi's dojo. "When you get knocked down, you need to get back up as fast as possible and the best way to do that is to leap back onto your feet." Izuku nodded.
"For today, you'll be practicing the Kip flip and like many acrobatic moves, it mostly involves engaging your core. So focus and once you get it, which I'm sure you will, you'll move onto backflips and frontflips." Izuku lifted his feet and rolled up to his upper back, trying to flip onto his feet and failed miserably.
...
The next day, Toshinori and Izuku stood across from each other as the blonde held up boxing pads. "Okay Midoriya-Kun, keep your guard up, pay attention to your footwork." The greenette nodded.
"Okay; left jab, overhand right, left hook, right cross." Izuku listened to the instructions. "Right jab, left cross, right uppercut, left hook, right cross." Izuku followed perfectly and dodged a swipe to his head.
"Good." Toshinori complimented the teen who smiled back.
...
Inko stared at her son in worry as he ate lunch with her on a sunday afternoon, realizing he was slightly two inches shorter than her five foot and three inch frame. "So mom, how's that patient of yours?" Izuku asked the woman who rolled her eyes.
"Well he's become a regular now. Comes in three times a month for blood transfusions and somehow, I've become his assigned nurse, which is nice." she admitted and Izuku smiled in joy for his mom. "We don't really have a lot in common but… I don't know." Izuku chuckled slightly. "He's just so open and kind and funny."
"Well... I think you should go for it." Inko blushed slightly. "No seriously! If you really like this guy then you can't wait forever, what happens if some other woman comes along and gets him first!" Inko shakes her head at her son.
"Kami, Izu-Kun! Where is this attitude coming from!" The green haired woman exclaimed with a large blush on her face.
Izuku grinned at his mother, "I guess I've picked up a thing or two from a few friends." he admitted with a grin.
...
Izuku crawled through the dirt wearing camouflage trying to get under cover until he felt a booted foot stopping him, pushing against the middle of his back. "It's over, Midoriya-Kun." Nejire told him in a solemn tone.
"I know but I put up one Hell of a fight, didn't I?" Izuku asked with a desperate tone.
"Yeah you did..." Izuku grunted in pain as she shot him in the back.
"BEEEEP." The area was lit up with red as a loud bell rang across the field.
Izuku stood up and dusted himself off, "Good game, Hado-Chan. You're a paintball master!" the blue haired girl grinned and hugged the greenette.
"You did great too, Midoriya-Kun!" Nejire exclaimed to the younger teen. "I hope this has been a good birthday!" Izuku laughed and nodded against the taller girl.
"This has been a great birthday! Let's go meet up with the losers and get something to eat!" Nejire giggled slightly and nodded.
...
Izuku took in a deep breath, sweating from every pore of his body pouring cold water over his head.
It had been a month and a half after his birthday and he could feel the strain his body was under increasing day by day. "So, my birthday is in a few days, on the ninth and I was wondering if you would like to have dinner with me and my dad?" Izuku blushed slightly at the invitation and nodded.
"D..do yo..you want to do anything after?" the greenette asked looking into her teal eyes
"Maybe we can just watch a movie, just the two of us." Izuku agreed with a smile.
"I, I would like that." Izuku told the girl who nodded, setting her hair in her signature side ponytail.
...
The next day, Toshinori looked at his green haired successor with a large grin, "Arihi and I have spoken and we both agreed that it's time to take the next step of your training." Izuku looked at his master with excitement. "For now on we, Arihi and I." He clarified, "will be sparing with you to not only sharpen your skills but strengthen your ligaments even more. By the year's end, since you started your training, your body should be more than ready to handle any strain One For All will have on you."
...
Izuku bowed to Arihi and moved into his fighter stance, after several moments the greenette ran towards the gray haired man and side kicked him with his right leg.
Arihi quickly grabbed his right foot, stopping his movement and sweeped his left leg, bringing the freckled teen to the ground and kneeled on his chest. " Three seconds... good start." he released the teen's leg and helped him up. "Let's do it again." Izuku nodded.
...
Izuku was punched in his stomach and was brought to his knees, the greenette dodged a right hook from Toshinori and rolled away before quickly getting back up to his feet.
He rushed the blonde and tried several different combos, only for the emaciated All Might to dodge them all and punch him in the face, causing the teen to fall onto his ass.
...
Izuku felt stars in his eyes as he stared at Arihi's ceiling but soon Kip-flipped to his feet and rushed at the older man. The fair skinned teen slid across the ground, trying to sweep the older man's feet but the taekwondo master front flipped over the emerald eyed teen and back kicked him, pushing Izuku onto the floor.
The greenette pushed himself up and shook his head, struggling to get up and fight.
...
Izuku rocked back and forth on his feet, keeping his hands in front of his head and guarding himself against a barge of hits Toshinori was performing on him.
The fourteen year old managed to escape the corner he was put in and tried to perform a right hook onto Toshinori's body but was hit in the face by a left elbow before he could.
...
Izuku staggered away from Arihi, disoriented but was able to block several kicks with his legs, and redirected others with his hands before Arihi reverse roundhouse kicked him in the jaw.
...
The greenette leaned back from a left upper hook, managing to perform a right hook against Toshinori's hip before dodging a Haymaker.
...
Izuku performed a left high kick against Arihi who leaned away but before he could sweep the greenette's leg, the emerald eyed teen collapsed into a back roll and stood up before rushing in with a flying knee strike that was quickly blocked.
"Enough!" Arihi exclaimed and Izuku took a breath, "You've done well this month Midoriya-San, better than Toshi or I could have hoped." the freckled face teen nodded and collapsed on his ass, exhaustion clear in his body.
"Let's take a twenty minute break." Izuku nodded with relief and laid on the floor, taking in deep breaths.
...
Nejire and Izuku laughed in their own Karaoke room after saying goodbye to the rest of the gang. "Today has been the best birthday, Izuku-Kun!" The greenette nodded. "I'm glad you could stay with me a little longer!"
"Me too! I'm glad we're friends Nejire-Chan, you're amazing to be around!" Nejire's smile lessened slightly but it soon came back in full force.
"I'm glad we're friends too! Now..." She looked for a song to sing with her 'friend'.
...
On the last days of February, Toshinori kneeled in front of Izuku, taking his hands. "You've made amazing progress, Midoriya-Kun." Toshinori told his successor as he taped his bruised and bleeding knuckles. "I've talked it over with Arihi and we think you need a month to recuperate and come back fresh." Izuku nodded with a smile. "And when you do, we'll start the next and final phase of your training at the beginning at April."
...
Izuku elbowed Mirio as he tried to pass him during a race. "Comeoncomeoncomeon..." the greenette muttered, paying rapt attention to the T.V in Mirio's apartment while Tamaki, Nejire, and Itsuka played monopoly.
"Hahahaha! Give me all your money Tamaki-Kun!" The indigo haired emo teen sighed and gave her his last of his fake cash. "Now say it, Tamaki-Kun!" The boy took a deep breath and released it.
"I'm… your bitch Nejire-Chan." The blue haired cheered as Itsuka laughed.
'This is an amazing birthday..' Tamaki thought to himself sarcastically but soon a small smile appeared on his face.
...
Izuku tossed a few pieces of popcorn above his mouth, trying to watch one of his favorite anime he hadn't had time to view in awhile but a large hand appeared above his open mouth, catching his delicious snack before shrinking.
The greenette turned towards Itsuka with a slight glare, she slyly smiled in reply and munched on the popcorn she stole. "You snooze, you lose Izuku-Kun~!" She sang at the boy, who emptied his popcorn bucket on her.
"Aghh!" Itsuka stood up and glared at the laughing green haired teen but as he saw her fiery glare, the freckled greenette jumped over her couch and began running. The moment he did, she immediately began to chase him.
"Get back here!" The orange haired girl screamed at the running Izuku.
...
Izuku stood in front of his master, wearing an All Might t-shirt with green shorts and black sneakers, Toshinori was in his full glory, wearing his blue, red, white, and yellow Hero costume.
They stood in the middle of the boxing ring. "Midoriya Izuku, are you ready to bear the awesome responsibility of One For All?" Izuku smiled widely.
"Yes." All Might grinned.
"Instant answer, I like it." He laughed and the greenette chuckled along with him. "Reach out your Quirkless hands Izuku and take the future that I have laid out before you! The future as the next the Symbol, the next Number One Hero, the next Protector of Japan! The World!" the greenette raised his shaking hand. "And eat this!" All Might plucked out a string of hair.
"What..." All Might busted out laughing as he looked at his wide eyed, open mouth successor. "What did you expect? Some kind of ritual or something?" Izuku nodded rapidly and the larger man chuckled. "No, you have to eat a piece of my D.N.A and this is the best option, trust me!" Izuku cringed, imagining several ways this could be a lot worse and nodded.
The greenette grabbed the hair and rolled it into a ball as he gathered saliva in his mouth, with a ugly puckered face, the teen put the hair ball in his mouth and quickly swallowed, shivering in disgust as he did. "That was disgusting." All Might nodded, remembering his own experience but soon clapped his hands.
"Well, now we have ten months to get you ready for the U.A Entrance Exam." Izuku nodded with an excited grin.
