Grey – Chapter 12

Cassern

Logan's POV

Another late night shift at the station, who knew a small town could have this much paperwork. Everything was quiet until Parrish brings in a perp that starts threatening The Sheriff in a room full of Deputies, including myself, his lawyer, and his son, Stiles, oh and also Scott. I mean, I've arrested a lot of dumb criminals but threatening a Sheriff in front of witnesses, does he think this is a movie or something? After that happened my Stalker decided to visit me at work again "That was interesting." Nathaniel said, "Yeah, it was. What are you doing here?" I ask annoyed.

Nathaniel glances at Deputy Parrish "I know what your co-worker is." He said smirking. I glare at him "Good for you. Don't tell me, I'm trying to figure it out myself." I tell him, "Tell me, what have you found out so far?" Nathaniel asks curious. "Well, his eyes glow a red orange and he's immune to fire, that's what I found out so far." I tell him. Nathaniel smirks smugly and if look could kill, he would be dead because I glare heatedly at him. The lights in the station flicker a bit at how angry I am "If you say one word. I'll punch your light out in front of everybody, I don't care if I lose my job." I tell him deadly calm. Nathaniel is still smirking but then chuckles "All right, I won't say anything. You'll come to me when you've exhausted all your resources." He said then he leaves, I watch him leave wishing I could hex him right now.

I go home after my shift ends, Julian's home and in bed. I go to the kitchen and grab a beer from the fridge, I drink it and sigh from a long day. What the hell is Parrish? The next day was super busy because the perp from yesterday nearly escaped last night, something attacked the transport killing two deputies and his lawyer; Scott found the perp in an abandoned warehouse. Stiles told me a girl named Tracy was the one that attacked the transport and that she might be supernatural. Work went on as usual until I feel a sharp pain across my forearm, I get up from my seat only to fall down to the ground. I can't move, I can only stare up at the ceiling and see a girl with a… tail, crawling on the ceiling. What the hell is she?

I've been paralyzed for god knows how long and now I'm able to move ever so slowly when I hear my name being called "Logan!" Julian shouts "Julian! I'm over here!" I shout back as I slowly rise to my feet and the cut on my arm has healed, thanks to a protection spell, "Hey, you, all right?" Julian asks concerned. I nod "Yeah, luckily I did a protection spell on myself this morning, but it didn't stop me from getting paralyzed." I say. When I get home, I get a text from Nathaniel 'Did you figure it out yet?' it

reads. I sigh and threw my phone on the couch, I'm not gonna respond to that turd. I'm gonna go to sleep instead.

The next day, I come into work and it's even more busy than it was yesterday "Grey! In my office!" The Sheriff shouts. I walk into his office "Close the door." He tells me and I do "Sit." He said and I do. There's a tense silence before the Sheriff says anything "How do you do it?" He asks, I raise an eyebrow "Do what, sir?" I ask back. The Sheriff sighs "How do you handle all this… supernatural stuff?" He asks, I smirk "With all due respect sir. I was born into the supernatural. I don't handle it I roll with it and make sure I don't get exposed in the process." I say. The Sheriff sighs frustrated "So, in your old town. You've had to hide bodies before?" He asks "Hide, burn, even had to put down some creatures myself that threatened my town, sir. I'd do anything to protect my family and town." I say thinking of Julian.

"I can respect that. But you're an Officer of law and the law states—" He starts to say but I interrupt him "Sir, there are no laws for the supernatural and if there were… we all would probably be put in cages and/or be executed. No trials, no arrests." I say. The Sheriff gives me a hard look for a moment then waves me off to go. I go back to my desk and sigh deeply. Well, I wasn't fired on the spot so I guess that's a good sign… I think. I get that the Sheriff's world was turned upside down by the supernatural but the sooner he understands that everything involving the supernatural isn't black and white, it's grey… hah, just realized what did there, with my name. I'm at my desk researching everything about what the hell Parrish is and nothing. I've found nothing, it's frustrating. I need to go home to do more extensive research.

The next day, I took the day off of work to continue my research. Hours go by and still nothing, the closest thing he could be was a phoenix but it doesn't match with the abilities he exhibits. He could be a hellhound but those are supposed to be in hell, right? So that's a no. Frustrated, I give in and text Nathaniel to come over. A few minutes later "Ah, Logan. Finally need my help." He teases. I glare at him "Either you tell me what Parrish is or I hex you right out of the house." I threaten getting annoyed. Nathaniel smirks "All right, I'll tell you, but you have to tell me, how you made that ring for your Little Brother?" He asks.

"Dark magic. I used dark magic, all right. Happy!" I exclaimed frustrated. Nathaniel chuckles "And here I thought your family didn't use dark magic." He states. Now I chuckle "My family uses traditional and dark magic, we just don't advertise it like your family does. Why do you think our surname is Grey." I tell him. Nathaniel smiles a little "We only show off to supernatural community to prove how powerful we are. If any creature decided to mess with my Family, they would regret it." He explains. I scoff "Yeah, I bet it made you some enemies." I say, "It did, but it made some allies too, powerful ones." Nathaniel said.

"Okay. You gonna tell me what Parrish is?" I ask impatiently, "A Hellhound." Nathaniel answers. I shake my head "No. Aren't Hellhounds supposed to be in Hell, right?" I ask, "They are, but sometimes they inhabit a human host and give them their powers. Sometimes, the human host doesn't even know there a hellhound until a threat arises. Your colleague probably isn't even aware that he's a hellhound, yet." Nathaniel explains. This is… interesting, Hellhounds apparently can leave Hell "Thanks for this, Nathan." I say, I go to my books to research everything I have on Hellhounds "You're welcome, Logan." Nathan said then he leaves.

It's night time when Julian came home, I can't wait to tell him what I found out "I know what Parrish is! I exclaim excited to tell him. Julian is surprised by my sudden outburst "Uh…" Julian said, "He's a Hellhound." I say before he could finish his sentence. Julian is silent for a moment before he talks "I thought Hellhounds were in Hell?" He asks, "Apparently not." I answer, then I tell him what I was told about Hellhounds. Julian takes in all that I told him "That's… that's interesting." He said, then he walks towards my pile of research and starts to read over it. I smile a little, that's something Julian and I have in common. When we find new information on supernatural creatures, we read every bit of info until there nothing left to read. "Night, Julian." I say to him, "Night, Logan." Julian said back. I go upstairs to my room and go to bed. I have work in a few hours and it will be a long day, tomorrow.
