CHAPTER 39

TAOS

Jaime looked around anxiously he was seated in the hallway along with some other reach abductees. Everyone had to receive mandatory counseling after what happened.

La'gaan hasn't said much from his time in a pod on the reach ship. He was just angry mostly he blamed himself for charging into the fight.

Garfield just appeared depressed he wasn't his usual bubbly self and it's been noted.

Bart seemed alot more happier than usual which Jaime can't wrap his head around. He was just tapping his hands against his thighs rapidly which got annoying after a while. Once Jaime stopped this Bart began tapping his foot against the floor.

Atleast Tye was safe.

CARNIVAL

Dick wondered the colorful, loud and playful atmosphere a smile on his face. Hands covered his eyes and his smile grew wider.

"Hey babe" Wally whispered in his ear.

"Hey" Dick pulled the hands off his eyes and turned to face his lover. They shared a chaste kiss, Wally pulled back walking towards the roller coasters. He noticed Dick wasn't following so he turned with a smug look on his face. He held his hand out green eyes sparkling with excitement.

"You coming boy wonder?" Dick gasped at that statement.

6 YEARS AGO (2010)

Dick Grayson stood outside the movie theater a faint blush on his cheeks.

"Okay first date you got this ...no you don't" He turned around to walk away only to crash into Wally's chest.

"Wow there Dicky the date is this way" Wally smiled hugging his date, Dick hugged him back kissing his cheek.

"Really Dicky? Come on you can do better than that, can't you?" Dick teased Wally playfully shoved him before running to the door.

"Shut up we're gonna miss the movie you coming boy wonder?" Wally smiled at him.

"Watch it" Dick pushed passed him

2012

"RECOGNIZE KID FLASH B03" Kid Flash exited the zeta tube in Bludhaven.

"Uh Dick? You said you wanted to show me something where are you?" Kid Flash asked through the communicator. He got into a fighting stance noticing something move in the shadows.

"Stop into the light coward" Kid Flash yelled out. He sees a figure leap from the rooftops and swing on a fire escape they land on the dumpster a few feet away from Wally. He backs up glaring the figure wore an all black suit with a domino mask covering his eyes and a blue bird on his chest.

"Who are you?" Wally glared at him.

"Don't even recognize your own boyfriend KF?" Dick said smugly, he stepped down walking closer to his boyfriend.

"What's with the costume change" Wally asked curiously inspecting Dick's new suit. It was form fitting especially around his ass.

"I mean I'm definitely not complaining" Wally smirked looking at it.

"With a new Robin around I decided I needed to be someone else call me Nightwing" Nightwing poses dramatically.

"Dig the name so Nightwing do you have the same rule as the Bat about metas in your city?" Wally teased.

"Hell no fuck Batman" Nightwing pulled out his grapple gun.

"Tone down the angst next thing you know you'll be brutally beating up random dudes in an alley" Kid Flash sped to the end of the alley smiling back at Nightwing.

"You coming boy wonder?" Wally smiled, Dick glared at him.

"Funny" He grumbled.

Present Day (2016)

"I love you" Dick hugged Wally tightly.

"Um I love you yoo" Wally hugged him back confused by the sudden contact.

"Let's go" Dick grabbed Wally along a smile on his face.

TAOS

Impulse took his seat for half a second before being pulled around the corner by Blue Beetle.

"What did you tell them?" Jaime asked him

"That you're a reach agent and you're here to enslave the human race" Bart glared, Jaime's eyes widened in shock until he saw Bart crack a smile.

"Nah amigo you see I have no idea what causes the apocalypse so I say we say nothing to nobody" Bart smiled realizing the excuse he was making for keeping Jaime alive.

"The Impulse is right now kill him so he can't change is mind" Scarab said

"Overreacting won't help" Jaime sighed out loud.

"Exactly so relax come on look at me" Bart pulled up his goggles, Jaimed rolled his eyes allowing his faceplate to retract.

"I'm Bart and you are Jaime not future boy and genocidal tyrant? Okay we will figure this out" Bart used his speed to peck Jaime on the cheek and speed off. Jaime stared at his retreating form eyes wide. He held the cheek Bart just kissed a blush formed over his skin.

"Jaime Reyes your body is releasing chemicals that suggest it wants you to mate however this Impulse is a male therefore cannot bear children so what is the point of this action being performed" The Scarab asked Jaime.

"We are so not having this conversation" Jaime allowed his faceplate to cover his face once more.

GOTHAM CITY

Barbara walked around the batcave training with Tim. He swung his bo staff at her, she slid under kicking him off his feet.

"You've been slacking on your training spending all your time with Superboy?" Barbara chuckled.

"Oh can it" Tim got up dusting himself off.

"So are you two ya know?" Barbara waved her hand.

"Going steady?" She held in a chuckle, Tim glared at her.

"Your age is showing" He walked over to the computer.

"Oh come up when we were in high school I gave him worse grief about dating Wally and clowned on Jason too when he dated Donna" Barbara explained.

"Donna? That was the original Wondergirl right?" Barbara nodded the two looked at the display case holding Jason Todd's Robin suit.

"What happened? To the first batch of new recruits for the team I've heard a few things from Lagaan and Gar but they never want to talk about it and I don't wanna push them" Tim asked her, She sighed leaning against the console.

"It was great for a while the team grew we were a well oiled machine the team brought in me, Wondergirl well the first Wondergirl, Aquagirl, Tempest, Lagoon Boy, Sergeant and Lieutenant Marvel, Beast Boy, Bumblebee and Robin well the second Robin. Mary and Freddy didn't last long on the team they just wanted something different. Jason always had something to prove which got him in trouble alot" She began to get choked up, Tim placed a hand on her back.

"When the Joker killed him things were never the same Dick and Donna became more aggressive and withdrawn. Not too long after that we lost Tula to Tiamat that was too much for Garth so he left the team, Donna followed than went Kid Flash and Artemis than Zatanna and Rocket joined the league. Aqualad left us after finding out his dad was Black Manta and Dick took over the team. When Ted Kord was killed we kind of banded together made sure if we could help it there would be no more bloodshed but than Artemis died." She finished her story. Tim was speechless he stood there quietly, not knowing what to say.

"My first mission as a leader Dick said to me just don't die okay" He stated, Barbara stood up placing her hand on the glass display case.

"You saved Bruce from himself Dick created Robin he was the first and Jason became Robin to help his own demons but you Tim you earned this title" Barbara hugged him tightly.

MEANWHILE AT THE HALL OF JUSTICE

Superboy, Miss Martian, Bumblebee, Zatanna, Billy Batson and Mal stood at the destroyed Hall of justice.

"So the ambassador so happened to have a device that disabled the force field how handy" Zatanna huffed.

"There's nothing left to do here we should all get home" Conner sighed heading towards the supercycle.

"I'll give you a ride home girl" Karen wrapped in arm around Zatanna, Mal followed the two.

TAOS

Jaime sighed the league contacted Atom they are gonna perform surgery on him tomorrow.

"Why would you do that" Bart sighed pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Bart please just listen to me" Jaime started but Bart glared at him.

"I can't do this Bart if I don't end this now everybody will die I know this isn't easy but I need you to have my back on this" Jaime held Bart's hands in his own. The young speedster let out an annoyed sigh, his face softening up.

"Always hermano besides who else is gonna keep an eye on you" Bart smiled playfully elbowing his side.

BLUDHAVEN

Dick and Wally laid in bed together Wally fast asleep, Dick reached for his phone a text from Conner.

"Hall of Justice is gone" He opened the attached picture seeing the building in ruins.

"Fuck" Dick dropped his phone covering his face with a pillow.

CHICAGO

"Crazy night I heard are you okay?" Conner read a text from Tim.

"I will be, just need to tie up a loose end than I'll head home date night friday?" Conner typed sending it to Tim.

"Of course" Conner smiled entering the apartment building he walked upstairs knocking on a door. M'gann answered shocked to see him.

"We need to talk"
