Chapter 4

Harry quickly forced himself to act confused. He was worried though. How would Ron know that a blood curse could be the reason behind Ginny's death.

'Ron, you of all people know how little I know about my family. Okay, I've gone into the house and I've looked through their stuff, but I never saw anything about my families history. I know things can be attached to blood, like the way I was protected if I stayed with the bitch but the old man never mentioned anything else, like how it was done, so I can't say. You said your dad mentioned this, what exactly did he say?'

'No much just that some families add curses to their blood, it's to stop people marrying for money. There's also magic that can make a woman fall pregnant even if she's taking precautions so she wouldn't. Some will marry saying they will have kids, but they really don't want to. I don't know much more than that.'

'Hmm, I've never heard of anything like that so you know more about this stuff than I do. I can see if there is anything in the house, but from what I've seen so far, there's nothing. I will look though. Okay, so if I had some type of curse on my blood, what could it be?'

'Don't know, I just figured I would ask.'

Harry knew he could not ask Ron if he thought Ginny might have done something to trigger the curse. Ron wouldn't believe Ginny had done anything, he would believe Harry had done something to trigger it. No, that was one thing none of the Weasley's would ever find out. No one but him could open the house in Godric's Hollow. If he was in there then someone could visit but if he shut the door, no one could open it. Dumbledore had used Harry's blood to seal the Godric's Hollow house and he used his blood to seal the house he had lived in with Ginny and that's how it was going to stay, especially now. None of the Weasley's would ever find the information on the curse that was attached to Harry's bloodline. Even though Harry and his parents had been written about, a lot, there was nothing written about curses on the bloodline. Harry knew why now, that curse was done hundred's of years before. If any of the Weasley's did find there was some type of curse attached to Harry's blood, he knew they couldn't blame him for not telling them as everyone, especially the Weasley's, knew how little Harry did know about his father's family. Harry got an idea, he thought he could install a safe and have it hidden. He wouldn't use a portrait to hide it, that was too obvious. He would hide it in the floor of his new house, which would be covered by a rug or maybe a desk, the desk would be better. He would hide the information about the curse on his families blood in there. Only Connie and Tim would know.

When the year mark of Ginny's death came around, Tim explained to all the Weasley's that it was now a cold case. Harry would still work on it when he can but it was time he had a life apart from working as an auror. Tim could tell the Weasley's didn't like that but they also knew they couldn't risk doing anything to the head auror. They knew Harry had been ignoring all the woman that approach him so they knew he wasn't dating, he was still grieving for his wife. They knew though that sooner or later Harry will end up with someone else. They all knew that Harry wanted kids one day. Tim and Harry had seen a few looks from not just Ron but some of the other Weasley's. They knew they would be watching to see if Harry took any interest in another woman then they would probably try to scare her away. Little did they know that the woman Harry was secretly living with was the deputy head auror and nothing would scare her, especially people like the Weasley's.

It was only a few days after the year mark of Ginny's death that Harry found a note in his robe pocket, from Hermione. He knew she must have slipped that too him when she hugged him after lunch. The note said she needed to talk to Harry, alone and in private, also, Neville wished to speak with him in private as well. They wanted Harry to meet them and suggested the shrieking shack during lunch time the following day. Hermione wrote that they didn't want Harry to say anything to anyone.

'I already know not to say anything,' Harry learned early on to be careful what he said and to who. Ron wouldn't like Hermione having secret meetings with Harry and he wasn't told.

Just before Harry left the auror office that evening, Harry quietly spoke to Tim about the note from Hermione and Neville. In the note, Hermione suggested that Harry ask his boss if he and Neville went out together, to make it seem they were to investigate something.

Ron didn't even bat an eye when Tim gave Harry and Neville a job to do. Since they all began at the auror office, Tim explained that he would not be assigning partners, he wanted everyone to get used to working with others. This time it worked so Ron would have no idea that Harry and Neville would be meeting up with Hermione.

Harry nodded to Neville before they both apparated away from the ministry. Seconds later, they appeared not far from the shriek shack. They never spoke, just hurried into the old building.

'Did he suspect?' Hermione asked anxiously the moment she saw Harry and Neville.

'No, but as you know, Tim doesn't want us used to working with only one person,' Harry said, 'Now, what's going on?'

'Two things, or three really. First, yes, Neville and I worked out that somehow Ginny caused her own death. At first, I wasn't sure what it could be but I did find some information. I'll get back to that. Second, we know you're dating Connie and it was a smart thing to do. I've overheard Ron talking with his parents and brothers. They plan to make sure whoever you date doesn't want a second date,' Hermione said.

'We're living together and have been for months. I bought another house that only Connie and Tim can enter. We thought it was safer.'

'It is, so don't tell either of us where it is,' Neville said.

'Alright, back to what I was saying before. Bill did some digging Harry, he found out that some people who married into the Potters died. He did not find out the reason they died but they are trying to find out to see if you are to blame for Ginny dying. I've been secretly doing some research and so far, there is nothing about any type of blood curse attached to the Potters. I did find out that the Prewett's also had an old blood curse but I could not find out what it involves. I made sure it would be seen with my other research material. Ron knows I want full family histories for when we have children so it wouldn't look suspicious if he see's it, but it could make him believe Ginny died due to an old curse in his family, not yours. I just thought it might take some of their suspicion off you.'

'It just might Hermione, thanks. I had no idea, not until after Ginny died. I went through everything I could and found the curse. After that first time Ron asked, Arthur asked me to see if I could find anything. I said I would and made it seem like I went through the papers at my parents house and I made sure to take a few weeks before I told him that there is nothing mentioned about any type of blood curse. I told him I spoke with Minerva along with Dumbledore's portrait since they did know my parents and grandparents. I made sure to actually go to Hogwarts and see them in case they decided to check. I created some fake papers with a curse that would make sure the woman marrying into the Potter family will have children, no less than four. I figured if they bring up a curse, I would create one and Ron explained how his father told him about this curse so I figured it was perfect to use. Arthur seemed to believe me but Minerva did let me know that Percy had asked if I had seen her or spoken to Dumbledore's portrait.'

'With my research and what you told them, hopefully they will stop looking into your family. I still make sure to listen in when we're at the Burrow. They always seem to talk about this when they believe I'm going to the bathroom or I'm leaving to go home. I always disillusion myself and stand near the door listening. I'm not sure if they will ever give up but I know they don't believe it has anything to do with you or your bloodline.'

'Good. But be careful, they won't find out so you really don't need to put yourself at risk for this.'

'I'm being careful Harry, don't worry. Now Neville can explain what he knows.'

'I found out that George knew Ginny slept with another bloke. He doesn't blame you nor does he really care. He hasn't told anyone else in the family. As we all know, he hasn't been the same since Fred died.' Neville said.

'No, he hasn't. I'm still hoping he will eventually open the shop again. I think he will but not for another year, at least. Anyway, do you think George knows who the bloke was?'

'He does and I overheard them talking when I was looking around Diagon alley one day. They were in the side alley near Gringotts. Anyway, it was Lee Jordan, Harry. He has been in love with Ginny for a few years and tried everything to get Ginny to notice him. Even the twins were hoping they would get together because they knew Ginny and Lee had a lot in common, where you and Ginny didn't. They were friends and even I saw how well they got on. Ginny was always nervous around you until we started with the DA.'

'Yeah, I noticed that as well. But I saw Lee watching Ginny a few times and he did a lot during the DA meetings. That night in the room of requirement, before the fighting, Lee stared at her for ages before we left the room. He walked out of the room right after Ginny did. I also noticed he seemed to be where Ginny was when the fighting was going on. At the time I didn't think about it, after Ginny and I got back together, I remembered all that and just figured Lee thought of her as a little sister since he was so close to the twins.'

'I never noticed any of it. I think because Ginny always spoke to me about you, I never took any notice of who other boys looked at. I know Lee was around a lot but I only ever spoke to him a handful of times and nothing was every mentioned about Ginny,' Hermione said.

'Do you know if that was the only time? I know it wouldn't have been after we were married, I'm talking about before we were married.' Harry asked. He really hoped they hadn't. He also would have thought George or Fred would have told him if Ginny and Lee had gotten together. He really didn't believe they did. After talking everything out with Connie, they both came to the conclusion that Ginny would have done everything in her power to get Harry so she wouldn't risk that just to have fun with another boy. No, Harry believed Ginny would never have done that in case he found out, which meant there would never be a marriage.
