It was a beautiful day for the gym as Anya and her classmates were outside on the track and field area as Coach Jones was explaining the activity for today.
"Alright, Today's activity will be Long Jumping. This will be a test of endurance and how well you can jump but beforehand, I want everyone to do two laps around the track to get warmed up" Coach Jones had spoken to his class as some of the class proceeded to run while some proceeded to walk.
"Anya, Do you usually perform well in Long Jump? I saw Russell do it the other day and he did quite well" Mai had asked Anya in a tone of curiosity as she, Anya, Charlotte, and Nancy proceeded to walk around the track as they started to have a discussion to pass off time.
"Honestly, I do Long Jump pretty okayish for the most part but It's a pretty fun activity for the most part" Anya had answered back as her words were met with Mai nodding her head in understandment.
"I see, You do seem pretty athletic for the most part so that's good to hear" Mai had spoken back to Anya as her comments seemed to catch her by surprise.
"I mean, I am and do look pretty fit since I usually go on walks and other stuff" Anya had spoken back to Mai in a confident tone of voice as Charlotte began to speak.
"And that's not the only good thing about my friend! She even has super strong strength that was inherited from her Aunt and great grandfather! Now isn't that great or what?" Charlotte had bragged to Mai in regards to her friend in an excited tone of voice as this caught both Mai and Nancy by surprise as they began to speak to Anya once more.
"I do recall Anya telling me and Charlotte this but I don't know If it was true or not but maybe she'll confirm this…" Nancy had spoken to her friends as she looked over to Anya in hopes of getting a direct answer from her friend.
"I mean, I'm not that strong but I can lift most heavy things that most boys can't even carry so I guess that's good" Anya had confirmed to Nancy and Mai as her words were met with sounds of awestruck as the girls were amazed by Anya's strength.
"A little off topic but I've been meaning to ask you this but who did your hair? It looks rather beautiful on you and I would love to know who had done it" Mai had asked Anya in a tone of curiosity as she waited for her answer.
"Aww, Thank you so much and my auntie had done my hair in the style of the famous actress Clara Bow a few months ago and I've been loving my hair ever since!" Anya had answered back as this brought a smile to Mai's face.
"Wonderful! I can tell Clara Bow is quite popular in America but I'm glad to know where that hairstyle came from" Mai had spoken back to Anya as she and the girls shared a small laugh together as they made their way to the other side of the track where their gym class was at as they were greeted by Russell.
"Heya, How's my beautiful friends doing today?" Russell had spoken to his friends as he waved at them while the girls smiled and waved back.
"Hello my good friend, we're doing quite well. It's nice to see you around" Charlotte had greeted Russell as the pair gave each other a handshake as this was followed with Mai walking up to introduce herself.
"Good Morning, My name is Mai. It's a pleasure to meet you and I believe you're one of my classmates?" Mai had introduced herself to Russell in a polite tone of voice as she reached out her hand for a handshake.
"My name is Russell and it's a pleasure to meet you as well and I believe we've met before but It was a rather quick introduction but I hope we can be good friends" Russell had spoken back as he and Mai shook hands with each other.
"How long have you known your friends? Were you guys childhood friends?" Mai had asked Russell as she waited for her answer.
"Good question but I've meet Anya and Charlotte back in August when we started school while I met Nancy when she transferred in March and needless to say, those three girls are pretty darn good to me" Russell had answered back as he let out a smile in which made Mai and the other girls return the favor by smiling back.
"It's only been roughly a month but Russell is one of the kindest and nicest people I've ever met so he'll definitely treat you well" Nancy had spoken to Mai as she did her red hair in a ponytail which caught the attention of Mai.
"I'm glad to hear that and I also must ask, How is your hair color red? It looks strikingly beautiful on you" Mai had asked Nancy as she waited for her response.
"I will get a little personal here but I got it from my biological mother who passed away when I was a baby and while I have no photos of her, My adoptive parents did tell me that my mother had beautiful red hair…" Nancy had explained to Mai as her words made the young girl surprised.
"I'm sorry to hear about this, I'm sure your mother was a kind person in her life…" Mai had spoken back in a rather sad tone of voice as she was quickly comforted by Nancy.
"It's okay, I didn't mean to get all sappy or anything but I was told that my mother looked sad when she had to give me away while my father was rather distant.." Nancy had spoken back to her friend as Charlotte began to speak.
"It's okay, It's always good to let things out once in a while and that's what friends are for!" Charlotte had spoken to Nancy as she gave her a smile and thumbs up which made Nancy smile back.
"Thanks! I wasn't sad or anything but that question of Mai's was a pretty good one" Nancy had spoken back to Charlotte as this was seen by Anya.
"I'm sure that Mai and Nancy are similar in a way, Both of them are navigating their new homes and places while also finding comfort in each other in the meantime, Just like how my mother and Kaede were all of those years ago…" Anya had thought to herself as she looked at Mai and Nancy chatting with Charlotte and laughing amongst themselves as this brought a sense of comfort within Anya as she let out a smile as she knew that things are gonna be just a little brighter for her friends.
