Chapter 12

Marinette's head hung low as Captain Luka and a couple guards dragged her down the dungeon hall. Marinette looked up as they passed by a cell with Alya and Chloe inside, their miraculouses having been taken away as well.

Marinette glared daggers at those traitors. They were the reason she wound up here. She broke away from the guard's grasp and ran over to their cell, grabbing Chloe by the crook of her shirt.

"How did you know about him!? Tell me!" Marinette shouted at the blonde girl. "Now!"

"It wasn't us!" Chloe protested. "It was the old lady!"

"Old lady?" Marinette raised an eyebrow, before the guards grabbed her again and dragged her away from the cell. "No, wait! You don't understand! He's in trouble! Wait!"

"Shut it, thief!" One of the guards decked her in the back of her head, forcing her head to hang low. "Suffer your punishment in silence."

As the guards led Marinette towards the door of the execution room, Marinette noticed a singular ice cream cone stuck onto the wall and raised an eyebrow at it. Suddenly, all the doors lined along the hallway slammed shut, including the one to the execution room.

"What's the meaning of this!?" Captain Luka banged the door. "Open up!"

The door window slid open, revealing a little girl's face Marinette recognized as Puppeteer. "What's the password?" she asked in a singsong voice before shutting the window shut.

'What!?" Captain Luka answered with a confused look on his face.

"Nope!" Puppeteer giggled as she opened the window and shut it again.

"Open this door!" Captain Luka demanded as he banged on the door again.

"Not even close!" She stuck her tongue out at him as she opened and shut the window a third time.

"You have three seconds before I bust this door down!" Captain Luka warned. "Three..."

Marinette noticed an umbrella drop from the ceiling and snatched up one guard.

"Two.."

A frosty arm reached from behind the dungeon wall and grabbed the second guard.

"One!" Just as Captain Luka got ready to punch, the door swung open, and a certain pirate stood on the other side of the door.

"Ahoy, chump!" She said before decking Captain Luka on the head with her sword, knocking him out.

"Captain Hardrock!?" Marinette's eyes widened in surprise.

"Long time no see, Ladybug," the pirate greeted her with a smile. "Now let's go save your bonnie-lad!"

Before Marinette can ask any questions, several guards broke through the door at the end of the hall, charging with their swords held high.

Captain Hardrock directed Marinette down a different hall, running quickly as the guards followed close behind. The guards were abruptly paused as a mime held his hand out in a stopping gesture. The Mime did some wacky movements with his arms before gesturing to the guards' right. The guards turned to see Stoneheart charge at them, knocking the guards down like bowling pins.

Captain Hardrock led Marinette into the courtyard, where an army of guards were waiting. She drags the girl over to a plank held up by a rock, and tells Marinette to step up to the plank and squat down.

Suddenly, Mr. Pigeon appeared with an army of pigeons, followed by Evillustrator, Stormy Weather, Reflecta, and Simon Says.

The pigeons dove simultaneously at the guards, pecking and flapping in the guards' faces, slowing them down.

Evillustrator took out his magic sketch book and summoned several toy soldiers who charged at the guards with toy swords drawn.

Stormy Weather spun around her umbrella, sending a large gust of wind that blew many guards into the sky.

Reflecta shot mirroring magic, transforming the guards to look like her and making them struggle to combat in heels.

"Simon Says, you are all kitty cats!" Simon Says tossed a deck of cards at the remaining guards, who all began meowing and crawling around on all fours.

"You have your little feline friend to thank for that." Simon Says explained to Marinette.

Marinette looked down to see Plagg, purring and curling his tail around her.

"Plagg?" Marinette smiled. "You came back?"

The black cat meowed, running and pouncing at a nearby guard's face, hissing and scratching. The guard screamed as he struggled to pull the kitty off of him.

No time to dally," Captain Hardrock said urgently. "Here, you'll need these." She handed Marinette the Ladybug earrings. "Best of luck to you."

"Wait, how did you-"

But before Marinette could process what's happening, Stoneheart jumps down on the other end of the plank, sending Marinette into the air. She screams as she goes flying through the sky, then remembers the earrings. She quickly clips them on her ears.

"Ticki, Spots on!"

In a matter of seconds, bright red and pink sparkles surround the blue-haired girl, and she's Ladybug once more. She twirls her yoyo like a propeller, slowing her fall as she lands on the back of…

"Lila?" Ladybug smiled at the mare, who neighed in greeting. "You brought them all here?"

Lila whinnied in response, stretching her neck proudly.

"Thank you." Ladybug said gratefully, before her expression turned serious. "We got to help Adrien. Let's go!"

With that, Lila galloped away from the castle grounds, through the kingdom village, and towards the woods, Ladybug holding tightly onto the reins.

They crossed the cobblestone bridge, passed through the trees, and didn't stop until they reached the old hidden tower, where weeds were now overgrown and its once refuge-looking exterior now had an ominous aura to it.

Ladybug got off and, with a pat of gratitude to Lila's mane, ran to the tower, and swung her yoyo string once more around the window hook, lifting herself up to the tower window.

"Adrien, I thought I would never see you again- "Ladybug gasped.

Adrien was gagged and tied up to the floor, his shouting muffled by the cloth around his mouth as he tried to gesture with his head behind Ladybug.

Suddenly, Ladybug felt something sharp slice through her chest, and she fell to the floor with a groan, clutching her now bleeding stomach.

Mother Natalie stood over her, a bloody dagger in her hand.

"Now look what you've done, Adrien," Mother Natalie gestured to Ladybug, who was breathing heavily and losing blood fast.

Adrien screamed through the gag, desperately pulling at his restraints, but to no avail.

"Oh, don't worry, dear." Mother Natalie said darkly. "Our secret will die with her."
