Chapter 14

The sun shines brightly in the sky, pouring light onto the castle's royal bedchambers, where the royal couple currently stayed. Queen Emilia sat in a chair reading a book, while King Gabriel stood by their bedroom window, staring off into the distance.

A guard rushed into their bedroom, looking frantic and excited. The royal couple immediately turned their attention to the guard.

"What is it?" King Gabriel asked.

"Your Majesty," the guard began, looking back in the direction he came from before replying, "He's here."

Queen Emilia shut her book, her eyes widening, as well as her husband.

"You don't mean..." Queen Emilia's eyes filled with hope.

The guard nodded. "I do, Your Highness."

Quickly, the royal couple followed the guard down the hallway and towards the castle balcony. The guard pushed open the door, and there standing at the balcony's edge were Adrien and Ladybug, hand and hand. They turned around, gasps from both couples arose. For a moment, nobody moved or spoke, simply gazing at one another with a mixture of emotions.

Adrien slowly stepped forward, taking in his real parent's appearance. He had his mother's eyes, and his father's smile. Queen Emilia stepped towards her son, placing a hand gently on his cheek.

"It's you," Hey eyes filled with joyful tears as she wrapped her arms around him. "My baby boy."

Adrien hugged her back, his heart whole now that he was in his real mother's arms again.

King Gabriel joined in the hug, smiling tenderly. After all these years, his son finally returned.

Ladybug stood off to the side, smiling at this family reunion.

Queen Emilia looked over at Ladybug and held out a hand. Thinking the queen wanted to thank her for bringing back their son, Ladybug accepted her hand, only to be surprised when Queen Emilia pulled her into the family hug. Ladybug can't help but shed a couple tears. She is finally accepted for who she is, and by the royal family no less.

"As you can see, the lost prince has returned. The kingdom held a grand celebration in Adrien's honor. The celebration lasted an entire week, and to be honest, I only remember parts of it," Marinette narrated.

The scenery of the celebration can be seen, with decorations, sweet treats, and people dancing all around. Children ran around, waving purple flags with the kingdom's signature butterfly symbol on them and laughing joyfully. Over at a small stage, Captain Hardrock and Guitar Villain were playing their instruments, a small crowd clapping and cheering for them.

"Oh, remember them? Well, Captain Hardrock and Guitar Villain started a band together, and they're music careers are growing quite well,"

Captain Hardrock's hook gets stuck on a piano key. She shook her hook free, sending the piano key flying in the air and right into Stoneheart. He grumbled at that until he noticed a pretty, petite girl with hazel eyes and frilly yellow curls a few feet away. Taking his chance, Stoneheart plucked a rose from a nearby bush and slowly approached the girl.

"Hey. I'm Ivan."

"Oh!" The girl was taken aback at first, startled by this giant stone guy next to her.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." Stoneheart rubbed his head, the charcoal color of his face hiding his blush. He held out the rose to the girl.

"Oh," the girl blushed back and accepted the rose. "Uh, thank you. I'm Mylene."

"Nice to meet you." the two said simultaneously, chuckling afterwards as a connection has been established.

"Stoneheart finally found true love,"

Over by the village center, Simon Says pulls out some cards and holds them out towards the crowd. "Simon Says, you are all butterflies!" He tosses the cards at the crowd, and soon the crowd all flutter their arms and run around in circles, making the children laugh.

"Simon Says, well, he's quite the jester, isn't he?"

At the castle grounds, two lines of guards stood tall, each line holding swords out in a lineup formation. Lila the horse trotted down the middle between the guards, checking them for proper weaponry and uniform.

"Lila got the job as captain of the kingdom guard army."

The twin girls who had helped braid Adrien's hair took turns holding Plagg, giving him tummy rubs and lots of pets.

"Plagg never changed,"

Plagg purred as the girls petted him, before getting up and jumping into Adrien's arms. The blonde boy now wore a navy blue suit with golden threads, white trousers held by a leather belt with a golden buckle shaped like the kingdom's butterfly symbol. And off course, the very crown that caused him and Ladybug to meet. His parents smiled proudly at their boy all grown up and hugged their son again.

"And Adrien was home at last and had his true family. He was a prince worth waiting for, and everyone adored him."

A little boy held up a bouquet of feathers towards Adrien, who accepted them and placed a blue feather in the little boy's shirt pocket, to which the little boy responded by hugging the prince, Adrien returning the hug with a smile. As the little boy pulled away and went over to his mother, Adrien ran a hand through his hair, rolling his eyes with a grin when he saw that Marinette "stole" his crown playfully and placed it on her head with a cheeky grin. She now wore a satin red dress with black frills and silver laces, her raven blue hair pulled back in a braid with a red bow. She still wore the Ladybug earrings, though now they were more of an accessory.

Adrien smiled proudly at his lover. "Did I ever mention how lucky I am to have found you?"

"More times than I can recall summoning the lucky charm," Marinette said with a giggle. She then wrapped her arms around the prince's waist, "Now you are my lucky charm."

Adrien responded by wrapping his arms around her waist, tipping her down, and kissing her lovingly.

Plagg jumped down and pounced for Ticki, who floated high enough that the kitty couldn't reach her and watched the couple from a distance, genuinely happy for both of them.

"As for me, my days of thievery are behind me, all charges against me were dropped, I go now by Marinette, and I'm currently engaged to our golden prince. After asking relentlessly, I finally said yes."

"Marinette,"

"Alright, I asked him." Marinette admitted with a giggle.

As the two continued to smooch, Ticki turned the readers with a wink and concluded,

"And they lived happily ever after."
