Ch. 3
The students made their way through the Agency and down the corridor to the meeting room. As the door slid open, they could see Jonathan sitting on the chair, his elbow on the table, his hand resting on it. In his other hand, he was holding one of the latest smartphones with a blue case up to his ear, seeming as though he was taking a phone call. He was finishing up with the call as Jotaro and the others entered.
"Uh-huh...yes...yes...Well, thank you for the information. We'll keep you updated as soon as we get any more information on his location." With that said and done, he hung up on the call and put the phone back in his hand. He held it in a way that someone who was new to this technology would hold it, the four fingers on the right, while his other hand's index finger was navigating the screen.
"I must say, this technology is quite fascinating," Jonathan spoke with a smile, "In my time, they had just figured out how calling someone through a telephone would work. I would never imagine they had wireless ones with many different apps."
As the students were walking in and sitting down, Josuke added on to Jonathan's comment and said, "Yeah, it's amazing what technology can do these days."
"And you get used to it after a bit of time," Midoriya responded.
As the silence began to set in, Jotaro was the first to break it beyond repair, all with just a simple statistic.
"The number of disappearances has jumped to over 2,000."
The air of silence that was just broken suddenly turned cold, sending shivers down everybody's backs.
"Over two thousand?" Midoriya asked.
"That's right...or at least that's the number the news and the Public Safety Commission are pushing out," Jotaro continued and turned around, "The actual amount is at least that and a half, maybe even double. Either way it's no good."
"That news isn't as surprising," Bakugo interrupted, "Do you have any idea as to why this is happening?"
"As a matter of fact we do," Jonathan chimed in.
"The disappearances are the work of both DIO and the League," Jotaro spoke.
"Hold on," Giorno butted in, "you don't mean DIO's turning them into-"
"Vampires and Zombies, that's right." Jotaro responded calmly.
"What are you crazy?!" Bakugo snapped, "What is he, a vampire?"
"Yes," responded Jotaro, "In addition to having the power to overwrite reality, DIO happens to be a menacing vampire."
Bakugo's eyes went blank at the realization that the words coming out of the Hero's mouth were not forming a joke, but rather a reality. In that time Jonathan stood up from his seat, and began talking.
"Now this may be quite a shock, but the reason why DIO is so obsessed with my family...is because he happens to be my adopted brother."
"Really?" Deku asked.
"I'm afraid so," he continued, beginning a flashback scene, "I was only 12 when Dio appeared in my life. From there, he sought to make my life miserable for reasons I had not known of. He had tarnished my reputation, constantly mistreated me and the ones I love, and even stole the first kiss from my Erina. Yet, Dio was much preferred by my father, while I was seen as nothing but a nuisance. After finally beating some sense into him, we finally got along, and for seven years it was relatively peaceful."
Jonathan took a pause to gather his thoughts before continuing.
"When the two of us were in college, my father's health had been slowly declining, and upon further investigation, I discovered that Dio had not only poisoned his biological father to death, but he was also doing the same to my own father, switching the medicine he needed with the poison. When Speedwagon and I confronted him, he broke down like a cornered thief. He called his 'fall from grace' a part of the human condition, which he would forsake. And it was with this he did it!"
With angered fervor he *gently* slammed down an old item which let its dust dissipate upon impact. Upon the dust clearing, it was clear the item was a stone, cold, grey mask, with slanted eye sockets and a detailed mouth with two fangs sticking out of it. The nose cavity, as well as the indents which stood on top of it was just as detailed, before the path of the indent curled like a strand of curly hair.
"This is a Stone Mask," he continued, "An Ancient Aztec artifact used for blood rituals, specifically the transformation of a man into a vampire. All it needs to work is for a single drop of blood. Dio used the mask at the cost of my father's life. With that he gained the powers of a vampire."
"Being a vampire grants you abilities such as turning others into Zombies and other Vampires. However, their major weakness is sunlight, which is capable of disintegrating them. You remember the power I used on the Nomu we fought yesterday?"
The group thought back to the fight they had yesterday, Jonathan being able to fight the Nomu with relative ease, even capable of breaking down every fiber in their being, turning it into dust.
"What I use to fight, or what would be considered my Quirk, is a special energy called Hamon, a fighting and breathing technique which harnesses the energy of the Sun, and is as a result, capable of defeating Vampires."
"So you can harness the Sun's power and use it to fight Vampires?"
"That's correct. Although, Hamon isn't Quirk rather than a technique. But it requires very long and arduous training to both learn and master it. It can be passed down bloodlines, like a Quirk can, but when passed down it only contains a fraction of it's true potential."
"Regarding the disappearances," Jotaro spoke, "We believe that DIO has been taking people off the streets in order to cultivate an army of the undead, led by the younger Dio."
"Hang on," Bakugo interrupted, "The younger Dio?"
"Oh I forgot to mention...with the merging of our universe, our timeline was condensed into the period of time you are in. Meaning that the Vampire Dio Jonathan fought, and Overwriting DIO I'm dealing with are two different people existing in the same timeline."
"That...doesn't make much sense," Deku said, his head slightly tilted in confusion.
"It will soon. Follow me," Jotaro commanded, opening the door, and leading the others out. After making a few turns through the complex, they got to a door that had the words JOESTAR AGENCY: CRIME INVESTIGATION UNIT on the door, centered around a purple star.
As the door opened, the room's design was all white: white chairs, white walls, white desks and tables. On those white tables sat white computers, with screens of different colors depending on what software was used. As they walked in, Jotaro addressed one of the men in particular.
"Hey Abbacchio," Jotaro said, "Any updates on the numbers?"
"The number of disappearances has jumped to over 6,000. That's including at least 20 other Heroes."
"Have you been able to track anybody specific?" Jonathan asked.
"As a matter of fact, we do. Hey!" Abbacchio called out to one of the employees (a generic Speedwagon Foundation worker FYI), "I need the files on #PH0222."
After being handed the docket, Abbacchio opened the manila folder and showed it to the others. The picture of the man in the folder seems to be one in his Hero Gear. He had a basic face shape, messy brown hair, and on his head sat a helmet with what looked like fins. His shirt was blue with a bold, big white line down the middle. He wore yellow gloves, navy blue pants, and white boots.
"That's Manual," Deku said, "Iida interned under him after the Sports Festival."
"He's one of the Pro Heroes who went missing during the night. We conducted an investigation about where he could have possibly gone."
"How did you do it?" Josuke asked.
"Earlier today, I went out to Hosu City, the area where Manual usually patrols. There, I had my investigation videotaped for record." With a bit of clacking on the keyboard, Abbacchio pulled up the video of his investigation. His screen greeted him with a password screen.
"Now what was it again?" he pondered, "Oh yeah. It was IHateGiorno1999."
"Hey," Giorno called out, "Did you really have to make that the password?"
Abbacchio let out a small grin at the tease and let the video play. Although there were some audio glitches as the video began to load.
Today is Monday, December XX in the year XXXX. The time is 12:57 PM. This is Leone Abbacchio of the Joestar Agency. We're currently investigating the disappearances of several citizens overnight, including the Normal Hero: Manual, File #PH0222.
The next bit of the video showed a figure beginning to form near Abbacchio. Once that figure was fully shown, the Heroes watching got to see what Abbacchio's Stand looked like.
It was a very slim, somewhat built figure. Its legs and the center strip of its chest were a translucent gray. Outside that strip, a mix of purple and pink colored it, as well as his arms, hands, and head. His eyes and kneecaps, purple and grey respectively, had small holes on the edge in the center, almost like the speakers on a radio. Its other most notable feature was the small blue screen on its head, which numbers acting as timestamps to a video, again like a radio.
"This is my Stand Moody Blues," Abbacchio spoke, "and as you'll see in a moment, it follows the movements of any person at any time." The video continued.
Now according to reports from his Agency, he sent a distress signal at about 3:32 AM, before the signal cut off less than a minute later. So we should rewind to about 9 hours ago.
Moody Blues's timer rewound itself for a few seconds, to where it reached 09:24:50, while letting its shape shift into that of the Hero in question and moving towards the location designated in the timestamp.
The Stand showed the Hero running down the sidewalk, his hand near the communication device on his helmet.
"Any update on it's appearance?", Manual said. The response and conversation followed like so:
"Short stature...blonde hair...red eyes…"
"Where has he last been seen?"
"In one of the alleyways outside Hosuweet Dessert Shop" (Author's Note: The name's supposed to mimic "Hosu" and "How sweet")
"I'm right nearby."
A scream of pain was let out, followed by a crackle of thunder and a menacing laugh.
"Something's going on in this alley, I'm gonna check it out."
The Hero ran into the section between the two buildings he was nearby in order to check it out. Abbacchio and the Cameraman followed suit, seeing where this would lead them. A few twists and turns down the alleyway later, the Hero stopped moving. He looked up, to what exactly though is unknown to the viewers. Then some voices echoed into the Stand's projection of the Hero.
"My, my. Get a look at this one. This is the 10th Pro Hero tonight! My older self said not to make them Vampires, but I wanna test out my technique on this one!"
"It's too much of a hassle," A new voice spoke, "Let's just cut to the chase and close the curtains!"
After what seemed like a hassle the Hero put up, there was a puncture of his neck, two holes, and the next thing seen was a disappearance of the man from sight. Before that happened, a bright blue spark emanated from around the Hero, and all of a sudden the Hero disappeared.
