Sorry for my bad English.
What do you think about a character dying?
One of the fics I am following up has made a turnabout on the original events, and I particularly did not like how those events went. I will not enter in too much detail about it but what I can say is that the author made the characters who died in the original show live in the end. The way he used the characters and how everything wrapped on bothered me a little, but there is those who liked what they read, with a few agreeing with me.
This is making me think in how is going to be when the time comes and I decide to end the life of one of the characters, making me realize that I may make the same mistake Rooster Teeth did with Pyrrha, my opinion. Make the whole scenario bad build and make most part of my readers complain about how I did everything.
Also made me realize that is not easy to kill a character in a story. I will need to think about the impact that will made in the story and in the characters, but I also think that is a mistake to let a character live just because I want to see him keep living.
This is kind confusing me about when I will have to or not make a tragic outcome to one of the characters. So for now, I will focus on the plot right now.
Glynda studied Passione from all angles she could. The golden colts sure seemed to be made by an expert in artillery, but why she was wearing the second pair as heels? And how she can pull the trigger of the revolvers in her feet?
-And why I keep making those questions if I know that no one will give me an answer? –Glynda asked to herself in low voice, then she turns her attention to Jaune who was approaching her. She still needed to made to him a few questions as well. –Mr. Arc.
-So, how did you was able to pull the triggers of the revolvers in your feet?
And of course he had to ask too.
Beacon
Glynda disappeared again.
Fernando was already getting used to it at this point. The blind samurai knew that something was happening with those winged creatures all around the academy, and somehow Glynda was in the middle of everything.
What happened to Ozpin also was not a coincidence. He told to Fernando that he was looking for answers before he left his office a day ago, and a man just appear and the headmaster is take to a hospital due injuries caused by a sword.
Being one of the few people who can fight against those winged monsters, Fernando knew that for the sake of the innocents, he should not stay behind in whatever is happening.
With Glynda disappearing again and not knowing too much about what is happening, Fernando decide to ask the bald man what he knew. Unfortunately he disappeared like the angels. He could go after him but Glynda did not said where find Rodin.
There goes another probable source of information.
Leaning against the wall and put a hand on his chin, Fernando starts to think. What he can do to discover more information about what is happening?
But it was pretty hard to focus with the ruckus around the academy with the news of the headmaster being mortally wounded, but the statement give to him an idea.
If Ozpin discover something about the angels, the information must be in his office. He starts to walk in direction of the tower, only to stop in midway, remembering a very important detail that makes impossible for him to search for the information.
-I am blind. –Fernando comments.
What if the information is in his computer? What if is written somewhere? He needed someone to look with him, and since there is someone else who was able to fight against those angels, Fernando knew who he should ask.
Paradiso
No matter how Glynda looks those guns, they were only a pair of golden colts. Yet something about them was special, and of course Glynda did not know what was or why she thinks that. She decides to put those thoughts aside to check the clumsy knight of Beacon.
-Mr. Arc, something else happened while you were here? –Glynda asked as they look around for an exit.
After her battle with Joy, Glynda needed to find another way out of Paradiso, and since she was not unconscious Fernando could not pull her out.
-Not so much. I mean, the dragon, or whatever that thing was, fought against the woman while I tried to run, but the battle made the temple shake, and I fell to the floor below, I think I lost consciousness after that. When I awoke, the entire place was a mess, and both the woman and the dragon were missing, so I don't know if there was a winner.
-I see. –Glynda said before ask something else. –It seems that you had your portion of battle while here in Paradiso. How you were able to survive any confrontation against any angel?
-Oh, it was not easy. They come in small numbers at first but then, more and more came after me. First were those with spears, then those with axes. But things got really hard when those wheels like angels appeared.
-So you face nothing except for angels? –Glynda asked and Jaune answered with a nod.
She asked that because she remembers about what Rodin said in the academy, and about the hunter.
A demon hunter.
She suspected that demons would not be around in Paradiso, but she needed to ask to be sure.
Beacon
Headmaster office.
Unicorn did not know if she was allowed to look around the headmaster's personal files, but she had Fernando's permission, but she also did not know if her blind professor has permission either.
Fernando was standing by her side while she searches for any information about the monsters she fought alongside Glynda early in the morning.
-Ozpin has been searching or angels but it seems that he hit a dead end. –Unicorn spoke.
-What do you mean? –Fernando asked.
-He searched about angels attacking people in wherever he could but found nothing about it.
-So it means he did not found any information about what is happening.
-Speaking of which, do you have any information about those monsters from the morning? –Unicorn asked. –I remember that bald man calling them angels.
-They may be. I don't know either what they are. I can only sense them, and seems that no one can.
-Really? I can see them.
-You can?
-Or else I would not be able to fight them this morning.
So far what Glynda explained, only she could see the angels, so how Unicorn was able to see them as well? All this confusion, this is how Glynda is feeling from yesterday to today? He just sighed.
Unicorn then notices Fernando's eyes widen behind his glasses, he probably notices something.
-To the roof, now! –Fernando ordered and Unicorn got her guitar and followed him.
They took the stairs in case of something mess with the elevator, passing through the door and seeing the figure wearing a black armor standing in the middle of the tower. He slightly turns his head to look at the newcomers before turn completely to face them.
Unicorn raised an eyebrow and was about to ask to Fernando if he knew who was this guy, but his face was more confused than ever, as if he notices something that seemed impossible.
She was about to ask what was wrong until the knight spoke.
-I can't have more people messing with my plans. –The knight spoke with a voice that sounded familiar to Unicorn. –I must get rid of you both.
Shoving his sword on the floor, a glyph appeared making a scarlet light shone from where he was standing. From the floor come a massive black dragon-like beast, easily over one hundred feet in length from nose to tail, black, red and purple in color and in it head, a strange crown-like thing with what looks like a face set into the front of it.
The monster like dragon roared to his future victims.
Devourer of the Divine
Gomorrah
-Okay. –Unicorn spoke. –This is the ugliest dragon I ever see.
Before she could say anything else, the dragon stomped one of his legs between the teacher and student, separating them. Fernando was thrown to out of the tower, but used his semblance to stand in the wall.
Fernando's semblance gives to him control of the gravity around him. With this, he was capable of standing at an angle of ninety degrees or upside down.
The dragon seemed to take him as a big threat so went after him first, holding on the tower and roaring at the blind samurai and Fernando responds by standing perfectly still, not showing to be any signs of be afraid of the monster in front of him.
-You are not an angel. –Fernando spoke. –You felt different.
The dragon answered by trying to devour the blind professor.
Below the floor, people could only stare in confusion of whatever was holding in the tower. Some pieces of the ground start to float, scaring some of the students and bystanders around the campus.
No one noticed the battle happening on the side of the tower.
Fernando jump first to dodge the giant jaws wanting to gobble him and then jumps again to dodge the dragon's leg wanting to stomp him. When it leg came for the second time, Fernando did not move from his spot, instead he cut off one of his finger, making it fall down and the dragon roar in pain, Fernando then moved in blind speed to the left leg and give cut wound on the demon's skin, followed by another cut on his right side. Gomorrah turns around to try hits Fernando with his right claw, and the samurai jump to above the demon and shove his blade in the demon's back. Gomorrah roared again and start to move frantically, trying to get the human out from his back.
Fernando notices that was only angering the demon and jumped off from his back, and had to use his katana to block the strike from the demon's tail. While Fernando was dealing with the demon dragon, the knight was watching the fight from afar.
-Strange. –The knight commented as he watches from afar. –I remember his katana being able to harm only grimms.
Gomorrah seemed to get angrier and roared at the blind man, who notices something coming to his direction, sidestepping to dodge the massive sphere that crashes strongly on the floor, making a crater on the floor in one of the sides of the tower. Fernando knew right in that moment that hit by one of those would not be good for his health.
Gomorrah took the chance that Fernando was distracted to try devour him again, but Fernando was not distracted, and made a bubble with gravity to hold the dragon's jaw wide open. Fernando then grabbed the dragon by his teeth and threw the demon down below, but the demon would not fall that easily.
He shoved his claws on the tower, stopping his fall and roaring again.
-You really like to roar, don't you? –Fernando asked.
Gomorrah rushed at Fernando, wanting to devour him even if was the last thing he did in the world. Fernando notices the dragon coming but what he did not expected was something starts to pull him in the direction of Gomorrah's mouth.
To counter that, Fernando raises the weight of his body to become too heavy to be sucked. It worked but seems that Gomorrah did not give up, and keep trying to suck the samurai into his mouth. Pieces of the tower start to fall into his mouth, and some were going to hit Fernando, but he stood completely still in his place.
All pieces of concrete what hit him were reduced to dust once hit his body, protected by his aura. Seeing that his vacuum was not working, Gomorrah shot another fire ball against the human. Feeling the atmosphere become even hotter, Fernando dodges again the fire attack. Gomorrah keeps shooting fire balls against Fernando and he keeps dodging while approaching the demon. The demon was doing the same, giving a step ahead with each fire ball he spit.
Once demon and samurai were face to face with each other, Gomorrah opens his mouth to eat Fernando once again, this time succeeding in getting Fernando inside his mouth. He already starts chewing but felt something making impossible for him to move his jaw. Turns out, Fernando slowly forced the demon's jaw to open.
-Phew! Your breath stinks! –Fernando commented before jumps out from Gomorrah's mouth and then, he proceed to give dozens of slashes in the demon's head, with the last one giving a few slashes with just one sword swing.
Gomorrah shook his head, as if was trying to get off the pain from his face. Roaring once again, the demon was showing that he was angry, the entire academy was shaking with the angry roar, the tower was beginning to fall apart, making Fernando realize that if he keeps fighting with the demon dragon, Glynda would have to fix the entire tower from the courtyard.
Using his semblance, Fernando made himself to weight like a ton and jumped over Gomorrah. Not expecting the sudden weight, he let go of the walls of the tower and fell on the courtyard, which thankfully was empty.
Fernando jumps out Gomorrah and the demon stomps hard the floor, showing that he was even angrier.
-At least he did not roar. –Fernando commented.
Gomorrah jumped after Fernando and the samurai jumped back, making Gomorrah taking part of the floor in his mouth. He shot a fire ball with part of the floor he bit. Fernando run to the left side and ducked his tail. He jumped again to dodge Gomorrah's claw and took the opportunity to cut his hand. Blood spilled from the wound but Gomorrah was not affected this time, and finally was able to crash Fernando below his feet. The samurai held his feet with his arms and his eyes widened when the demon shot another fire ball in his own feet to burn the samurai, who was hit by the fire ball, and was dragged by the fire until hit the nearest wall.
Fernando was able to push away the debris which fell above him, his clothes burned a little and his black goggles gone from his face, revealing the grey covering the pupils of his eyes.
-It is better I end this quickly or else will have nothing for Glynda to fix. -Grabbing his student's sword, Fernando prepared himself as Gomorrah rushed in his direction. –Time to get serious.
Gomorrah tried once again to gobble Fernando, who faster than a normal eye can see, gave a long slash on the demon's body, then moved to his lower leg to give a cut in the behind part and then, jump to give a vertical slash on Gomorrah's left. Wanting to end this, Fernando aimed to Gomorrah's neck and decapitates the demon, only for the blade stop after one third of Gomorrah's neck.
While the samurai thought "oh shit", Gomorrah rolled like a dog and crashed Fernando with his body, but the samurai effortless lifted the demon with one hand, using his semblance to removed all the weight from the demon's body and toss him high in the air.
-I could use some assistance, where is everyone?
In another part of the academy, professor Port and Oobleck were escorting all the students inside a Bullhead. Since none of them could see the demon dragon, they thought the destruction to be caused by natural forces.
Gomorrah was coming back, and Fernando shoved his hand on the floor and threw a piece of the floor against the demon. Gomorrah caught the piece of concrete with his jaw and reduced to dust after a bit, but was surprised by Fernando suddenly appearing in front of his face while in midair. But instead of using the sword, he grabbed the demon by the head and threw him back to the floor, causing a earthquake.
Using his semblance of gravity to increase his own weight, Fernando fell like a meteor on the demon, opening a hole on his body and piercing his flesh with his katana, cutting any organ that he could.
Gomorrah shook for a moment before finally stop moving, his eyes rolled to the back of his head and his breath ceased. Fernando jumped out from the corpse, covered in purple blood.
-And that is that. –He commented and then, just like a grimm Gomorrah disappeared in midair, surprising the samurai. –What was that thing anyway? –Fernando asked, not knowing about the demons. Then he notices something. –Unicorn!
Fernando did not needed to look around for the girl thanks to his skill, but the problem was that he was not feeling her presence anywhere, be in the academy or in Vale.
So Fernando has only one thing to say.
-Shit!
Paradiso
Unicorn knew that was not going to be easy study in Beacon, and a lot of things would happene, but she never thought to be transported to a golden forest after dodges the attack of a dragon.
End of the chapter.
I've decide to give a little turnabout in the story and give the spotlight to someone else. It may be because of Devil May Cry 5. It is a good game but the third still is my favorite. I didn't not planned to let Glynda deal alone with what she is going against, so expect to see more of Fernando and more characters.
That's all folks, see you next time.
