Sorry for my bad English.
Man, it has been a while. Just to you know, this is not the only fic that I'm forgeting to update. It just with everything that happened during the year, most of my co-workers lost their job while I was only of who keep the job, with that I got even more work in my work place to do. I'm pratically doing the work of two people by myself and this is taking too much of my time, hence why I am not updating as I used to do before.
Of course, not all the blame fall on my work. I was also busy with other projects that I nearly forgot that I have fanfictions to write, this one being one as you can see.
Things on my country are already but slowly getting back to normal and with that, I hope to upload more frequently.
That's all folks, to the fic!
Paradiso
Glynda would love to explore the current place she is in. Unfortunately, despite being a beautiful place in enemy territory.
She along with her student were able to defend themselves well against the angels so far, but she feared that more powerful angels could appear.
Glynda knew with her encounters with Joy that may have even more dangerous angels around, and she may not be able to fight against them and protect Jaune at the same time. The blonde boy did well so far during their confrontations against the angels, but he only faced Affinities so far, the angels Glynda notices were the weakest.
So as they made their way through the golden forest, she had her guard up all the time, not wanting to be ambushed by any possible enemy.
Something else that worried her was the mysterious woman she meet in her bathroom and the temple.
Somehow she was able to sneak into her apartment and if was not for the strange situation Glynda was in, she probably would be dead, drowned in her bathtub. Something she did not like to think about.
Since their battle against the Affinities and Kinships, no angel appeared to challenge her and her student.
Speaking of Jaune, she still did not know how long he had been alone in Paradiso but looking at him, it seems he was there make a while now. This also worried her. It has been no more than two hours since she came to Paradiso to take Jaune back to Vale, but now she was worried the time may run different while in Paradiso. It could make days since she left Vale, which means more angels could already have appeared in the academy and attacked her students.
Being the only one who can see the angels, she should stay in Beacon to defend her students but fortunately, Unicorn still was in the academy, and she could see the angels. Glynda knew, despite her attitude, Unicorn was one of the best students of the first year when it comes to combat, a real prodigy.
So with Unicorn in Beacon, Glynda thought she could deal with any angel as long is not Joy.
Or she thought.
Beacon
Fernando was no strange to catastrophes.
He once was a soldier from Atlas Military, he deal with violent protests in the past, those where both sides decides to break anything around them to make their point.
So he knew how to deal with the whole chaos around the academy since his battle against the dragon.
-Alright, everyone! -He shouts. -Keep going to the bullheads! Whatever is attacking the academy, it ceased its attack for now. For your safety and your teammates and friends, keep a straight line and wait for your turn to enter one of the ships!
The last time such chaos happened in the academy was in the great Ursa years ago. While the students were in a panic, was one of the most enjoyable days for Port.
Do what? The man likes a good fight.
While the blind man guided his students to the ships he wished to be somewhere else. A little after he defeated the dragon, he notices the presence of one of his students disappear the same way Glynda did a couple of minutes later. He wanted to call for her but could not find someone to use his scroll for him to make the call.
Despite his senses, he still has his limits.
So he could only wish to end the evacuation as soon as possible or to Glynda save Jaune sooner than planned.
Paradiso
After another run with more Affinities, travel through a bridge made completely of light, and going in a free-fall after passing through a portal, the teacher and student duo found themselves in a small, desert town.
The urban scenery sprawl reminds Glynda of pre-Renaissance era architecture similar to those from years ago. After walking through an alley, they found themselves in the central plaza.
It seemed to be a nice place to live, but the lack of any living presence bothered her.
Of course, she did not expect to find any human around, so she wonders where did this small town come from. Does someone build it? If so, why in a place like Paradiso?
-Cool place. -Jaune commented. -Seem like a place where people would often hang out a bit.
-Why do you say that? -Glynda asked.
-Well, there is a coffee shop over there. -Jaune said pointing to the small shop with tables in the front. -There is a church over there. -He said pointing to the building with a tower with a bell on the top. -A bar over there. -He said pointing to the building with a vertical sign. -The small park over there. -He said pointing to the small golden meadow with trees and benches.
Glynda had to admit that this seemed to be a place where she would like to spend her free days, like that part of Vale she likes to hang out in her free days.
Sitting at a table outside the cafe while enjoying a nice cup of tea or sitting on the bench while watching people going around with their lives. Unfortunately, she did not have time for this, not because of where they were, but because small golden circles appeared.
-Oh great. -Glynda cursed.
-They are persistent. -Jaune commented pulled both swords.
Affinities once again appeared, each one using a different weapon, wanting to attack the teacher and student duo.
Two using halberds come for Glynda, who raised a barrier to block their attacks and used her telekinesis to grab one of the halberds and use to decapitate one of her attackers. The one Affinity she took the weapon from grab the killed one's weapon and tried to use it against Glynda. Involving her aura on her weapon, she repeal the attack and wrapped her aura whip around the angel's neck, throwing him in a random direction.
Jaune was holding well his ground despite being two against one. He was able to dodge and repeal the attacks from two Affinities, both using a morning star and an ax. He even was able to repeal the morning star to make it hit the head of the Affinity using the ax. Taking advantage of his distraction, Jaune cut off his arm and shoved one of his swords on his throat. As the pierced Affinity twitched to death, the one with the morning star began to spin his weapon as was about to attack Jaune when the blonde boy removed the blade from the dead angel and forming the bow, shot an arrow straight on his enemies head.
Glynda who witnessed the small fight scene was surprised by how much the boy improvised while alone in Paradiso.
When the last Affinity remained, more golden circles appeared, meaning that more angels were coming. They were not so surprised to see more Affinities coming but were surprised with the fact that two of them were on fire.
Something else that surprise the teacher and student duo were two Affinities on the back holding musical instruments, one holding a tuba-I mean, sousaphone and the other holding a trumpet.
-Never took them as music lovers. -Jaune commented.
-Don't underestimate them, Mr. Arc. -Glynda commented. -Those instruments can be very problematic.
-How so?
Jaune's question was answered when the Affinity with the tuba-I mean, sousaphone blew the instrument and the beam of light came in his direction. Giving a high-pitch yelp, he barely dodges the beam.
-See what I mean? -Glynda asked.
-Yes, ma'am.
The Affinities on fire charged along the one left from the previous five, surrounding them both, Jaune blocked two spears while Glynda was holding back an ax. Then they both heard the sounding of a trumpet being blown, and they saw a ball of energy coming in direction of Glynda. She pushed the ax away and raised a barrier, blocking the projectile which explode upon contact. Glynda then turns back to her previous opponent, wrapping her aura whip around one of his ankles and pulling him, sending him against the one holding the trumpet. He blew the instrument and blow away the angel Glynda threw against him.
Jaune was starting to have some troubles against his opponents, with their bodies on fire, the heat was too intense for him to get close enough to lash an attack. He needed space. Rolling away from the two angels, he formed the bow again and shot against one of his opponents. The shot was strong enough to hurt the Affinity but not kill it. Jaune then had to jump away from the beam coming from the sousaphone. Using his bow, he shot right to where the beam was coming from, exploding the instrument. The Affinity using it complained and threw the ruined sousaphone on the ground, storming off from the fight.
-Grumpy. -Jaune commented and could swear that the Affinity holding the trumpet said the same.
Back to Glynda, she once again shows how good her reflex was by dodging more attacks from another Affinity on fire. She knew that could not touch them so she used her aura projectiles. It hit the angel first on the head, then on the chest, and finally on the stomach.
The angel stumbled back, letting go of his weapon to hold his belly. It was when an ice shard flew through his head.
Glynda and Jaune had finished their opponents leaving only the Affinity with the trumpet. Jaune could swear that he said "screw this!" as he, like his partner, threw the instrument and starts to run away.
-Should we do something? -Jaune asked as he watched the angel run away, wondering why he is not flying.
-No. It is not like he can do anything against us alone.
It was when fate decide to spit on the runaway angel in the form of a Beloved coming from the sky and crushing the angel, transforming him into a meat pancake.
-Oh great. Him again. -Jaune complained.
Beloved rushed after both humans with the ax ready to strike. Glynda leaped back while Jaune rolled back, forcing Beloved to continue his attack. The retreat again until reached a building. The huge angel thought he had both humans this time but when he brought his ax to strike, it hit only the concrete of the building. Glynda gave a huge jump and while Jaune's jump was not so big, he stuck one of the swords against the wall to hold himself in place.
As beloved was about to strike again with his ax, Glynda used her aura whip to bring Jaune up and drag him to the top of the building with her landing next to him. When they thought they could take a rest, they heard loud noises. Glynda look down to see what was and was surprised to see Beloved climbing the building to go after them. She jumped back before his massive hand could grab her and while was not able to take hold of the woman, he used to hold himself on the building.
-Hey, it's just like a video game. -Jaune commented.
-All I see is a huge flaw in his plan. -Glynda commented and shot her aura projectiles against the hand Beloved was using to hold himself.
The angel proved not to be so dumb as he seems when he used the blade of his massive ax to block the attacks. However, it left his head exposed to Jaune shooting an arrow against his ugly face. The shots proved to bother Beloved as he used his ax to attack the blonde boy. He did not move from the place because as he expected, Glynda raised a barrier to block the strike.
She then tried to attack the hand holding the building again. While some projectiles connected, Beloved put the ax back again, blocking the attacks.
As if they thought they were going to a loop here, they proved to be mistaken when five golden circles appeared from above, and instead of Affinities, comes another type of angel.
They were manta ray-like creatures, with two long arms with claws, insect wings with two halos above them, and a long tail with a halo.
Second Sphere
Harmonies
Dominions
-Can't they just give us a break?! -Jaune shouts seeing the five manta ray-like angels coming from above, charging with electricity.
They both shot against two of them, knocking them down while the other three managed to get closer, forcing Glynda to jump away from one of them as it tried to tackle her while Jaune had to dodge the tail from another. He got hold of the tail and threw the angel against the last one coming.
It knocked both angels down and Glynda was about to use her semblance when she remembers the giant angel behind them. She dodges the ax and shot aura projectiles against Beloved while Jaune shot arrows against Harmonies. While Beloved show signs to be hurt, Harmonies were shown to be pretty resilient against the arrows.
Two of them starts to charge electricity before once again flying against them, while Glynda was able to block one with her barrier, Jaune puts both swords like an X and held the flying angel, which probed to be a flawed idea since he was emitting electricity.
Mumbling nonsense while being electrified, he could not warn Glynda that another Harmony was making way bypassing her barrier, and she notices too late as the flying angel tackled her, sending her to the floor and making her lose the grip on her weapon. She groaned and then, her eyes widened seeing the ax coming. She rolled to the side and was back to her knees, but was hit by another Harmony and put back down.
Back at Jaune, he stumbled a bit after the electric charge as another Harmony charged against him, and to the angel's surprise, the blonde boy dodges his attack. The angel tries to whip the boy with his tail, only for him to dodge again. Another Harmony tries to hit him only for him to bend his body, missing the strike by millimeters. Another Harmony comes from ahead and Jaune bends his body back while raising a leg, kicking the angel square in the face.
While the angels thought he was using some fighting style or predicting their movements, he was just stumbling while trying to recover his equilibrium after the shock.
Beloved raised his ax once again, ready to deliver Glynda a deadly strike, not noticing Jaune, still holding both swords, approaching the hand he was using to hold himself on the building.
The moment Beloved brought the ax down, he felt a stabbing in one of his fingers. Not expecting this, he released his ax and held the hand Jaune just stabbed by accident. First, he screams in pain and then, notices both his hands in front of his face, meaning that nothing was holding him on the building. He fell to the streets and crashed, causing a small earthquake.
The Harmonies were surprised by the sudden fall of the huge angel and were distracted long enough for Glynda to pull out the guns she found earlier and kick one of the flying angels.
The one she kicked was sent flying against another, who also hit another and the next Harmony gets out of the way before the three hits him but is caught by a powerful kick from Glynda who sents him down the streets along with Beloved.
The last remaining Harmony charged towards Glynda who welcomed the angel with a kick right on his face, then maneuvered him so he would be below her heel. Taking inspiration from Joy, she began to stomp Harmony, actually making the ground below her shake a bit. She was surprised to see the angel still alive and not so surprised to see Beloved back on the edge of the roof, so she kicked Harmony right on the huge angel's face, making him fall once again.
-Score. -She heard Jaune screams, sounding a bit dazed.
All the Harmonies she kicked away returned and saw she was now holding a pair of guns. They immediately charged and two were shot square on the face by her guns while the other two were taken down by two arrows, courtesy of Jaune who was out of his dizziness.
The last one swings its tail against Glynda who dodges and grabs it. Like a child playing with a rag doll, she rocked Harmonia back and forth, slamming the angel against the floor multiple times. Then like a morning star, she spun the angel by its tail and at the same time, the four Harmonies were back in the air. It was when Glynda threw the Harmony she was spinning making it hit the four flying angels, also right at the time Beloved once again comes back holding himself on the edge of the building, only to receive five flying angels square in his face, making him fall again.
And Jaune could swear that his scream was sounding like a 'Not again!'.
Right after the colossal angel crashed on the ground, Glynda took her crop again and used her semblance at the maximum. She pulled at least three buildings from around and threw all of it against Beloved, whose eyes widened in both surprise and fear before it all crashed in its body, killing it.
Jaune saw everything and could not help but let his mouth open in pure surprise at all the power his teacher have.
-A good reminder to never anger you, Ms. Goodwitch. -Jaune commented as he turns to his teacher, his surprise morphing in worry upon seeing the blonde woman on her knees. -Ms. Goodwitch!
He runs after the blonde woman and helps her to her feet.
-I-I'm fine, Mr. Arc. It's just... something that happens if I use my semblance too much.
-You just pulled three buildings from the ground so it is expected. -Jaune commented and then turns to where one of the buildings was, noticing something. -Hey, is that an underground passage?
Glynda turns to where the boy was looking and sees a passage on the ground, one that was looking to go somewhere. Looking around from the top of the building, she did not see any more passage or path to follow, so she thought they would have to somehow return to where they came from.
So it was a welcome surprise to discover an underground passage. She did not know where it will lead them, but they did not have many options.
Speaking of options, Glynda focuses on the pistol in her hand. Her riding crop was her weapon for as long she remembers, but she knows that those four guns were a better choice to use against the angels. The damage the four pistols can make against them could be useful during their trip in Paradiso, and she needed to make sure Jaune would return safely to Vale.
-Ok, let's get going, shall we? -Glynda asked.
-Yeah, about that... how are we going to get down?
Somewhere in Vale
The talk with the headmaster of the academy was at very least, productive.
Now with the map in his hand, he just needed to find the portal before the Umbra Witch leaves the place she currently is. With the sword on his back and his girls ready to shot, he travels through the forest, killing some grimms in the way to also kill time.
End of the chapter.
I think some already knows who is the character who is mentioned right at the end so I don't know why I'm hiding this information. Perhaps because I want to surprise those who still did not figured out who the character is.
I really need to update this sooner, but I keep forgeting to writte about this story. This coupled with the fact I made the chapters longer than the other fics make it take time to writte the chapter but I could find more time to writte, of course. Once again, I can only promisse I will not take too long to update this fiction and if I do, I apologize and I will stop promissing.
That's all for now. Rest in peace Bob Saget and see you next time.
