Chapter 4: Two truths and a Lie

Author's Note: The next scene is inspired by the great video I found the other week, it's called, "How Spider-Man Far From Home should have started."

Peter was on his bed, facing Aunt May, who was sitting on a wooden chair, and George Stacy, who was standing, and Steve Rogers, who was sitting beside Peter on the bed. He then asked the woman, "How long have you known about Peter's nightly adventures?"

"Ever since Stark came back from Germany and told me about Peter and that he would put Peter in jail then I punched him in the face and kicked him out of my house."

"I-I was going to tell you" Peter promised her.

"When were you going to do that exactly, when you came back home the next year or so?" Aunt May asked him. "What did I tell you, what have I always told you?"

"May, I-"

"You run the other way and don't look back!" May yelled at him as she stood up to look down at Steve "He's 15 years old, what the hell were you thinking when you strapped him in that plane?!"

Before Steve could respond, Peter then shouted, "Leave Cap out of this, I decided to join his side, and for the record, I didn't ask for ANY of this crap May! I do this because...because I have to."

"No! You don't have to do anything, like I said you're only 15 years old!" May again informed him. "Give me all your suits right NOW!"

"You take the suits from me, I'll just make another!" Peter promised as he stood up to face her. "And if you take that one...I'll just make another."

"Peter...why are you doing this to me?" May asked, her anger finally melting away and turning into tears. "I don't want you to put yourself in danger! Beating up criminals is one thing, but I can barely stay calm when I see you on TV, dodging bullets from cops or missiles from Stark! Your Uncle died, doing nothing," May continued as Peter was shocked to hear her bring him into this. "His only crime was Living! Now you're...And now, you're telling me that you go out and look for people like the ones that killed Ben?"

Peter wished he knew what to say, but he can't think of one thing. Steve was also speechless, considering that Peter told Steve what happened to his Uncle and they both still don't know what to say when she fell back on the chair she was sitting in, tears still dripping from her face.

"I just can't face that. I'm not losing you too!"

"I have a responsibility," Peter told her, gaining her attention.

"W-What?" May asked as Peter sat back on the bed.

"I was there that night, the night he died."

"I-I thought you were at the Library."

"I was using my powers for a wrestling match, so I can help you and Ben with your financial troubles, but I was only given 100 bucks, not 3,000 and a guy stole his cash, but in my selfishness and anger, I let him go and I guess he needed a car to escape, so he stole Uncle Ben's and…and he shot him." Peter finished as a tear dropped from his face, remembering that awful night.

Steve put his hand on Peter's shoulder, trying to comfort him and May finally stood up again and asked, "Did he know?"

"Yes, he knew and that's when he told me something I would never forget," Peter was silent for a moment or two, until he finally got the courage to say, "With Great Power, Comes-"

"Great Responsibility." Aunt May said, finishing Peter's sentence.

Steve then let go of Pete, so he and May could hug it out. May then looked at Peter and said, "Peter, I need to know that you know what you're doing," May continued as she faced Steve. "And you can make sure that he doesn't die."

Steve knew that her second request was impossible to promise, but he gave Peter a nod that May luckily didn't see and Peter finally said, "I promise May."

May looked at Captain America, who gave her a nod of satisfaction and May was finally able to say, "I've missed you so much."

"I promise, we can be family again."

Steve couldn't resist giving a wide smile, but he couldn't help but stop and wonder why Captain Stacy was here and why he was so interested in helping Spider-Man. He left to give Peter and his Aunt a few moments alone so he can talk to George Stacy alone in the Hallway.

"Look, I'm grateful that you stopped Tony before he did anything to Peter, but why the sudden interest?"

"I'm glad you asked," George said as he continued. "He's like this new symbol of hope for the people of New York and because of that, he could help make the Sokovia Accords an urban myth."

"So, you want to use him for political reasons?" Steve asked him.

"Hey, I hate Politics as much as the next person, but when the next Alien Invasion comes to us, it going to be really hard to avenge people when you and Stark are having your stupid affairs."

"I don't really think that's your business to worry about Captain," Cap told him simply. "But, if the kid plays his cards right, then maybe he could get the Accords off the table."

"Well, that's my cue to leave." Said the Officer as he grabbed his dark blue jacket. "Take care of yourself."

Steve then stood as Captain Stacy left the building. Cap waited a few moments until Peter came out the door and said "Do you care if May stays here for a while?"

"Not at all, maybe with her around, you wouldn't be all that alone."

"So...what do you think?" Peter asked Steve awkwardly.

"I like her, she cares about you very much, just don't let her down."

"I won't. Bye Cap."

Steve nods walks into an elevator and leaves.
