Peter's first day of First Hour Bio class was something he didn't expect it to be; It was more interesting than he thought it was going to be.
The teacher in this class was Mr. Curt Conners. He is a caucasian man male with brown hair, yellow eyes like the sun, and didn't have time for anything foolish or time-wasting. He was teaching everyone Ions and Elections, something Peter knew well, but not as well as he thought.
When Peter was gone for 6 months, he was mostly Spider-Man and because of that fact, his brilliant mind must've slipped a little bit and Mr. Conners saw this.
After class, Peter was getting ready for Geography but was held back by the teacher.
"Mr. Parker, Ms. Stacy, a word?"
Peter looked around for someone who might be Ms. Stacy and Peter saw only one girl in the class being held back. She was the same attractive male that sat next to him and was Captain George Stacy's daughter.
"Peter, I see that you are making an effort in this class, but if you want to get back to your normal class, then you will need a tutor," Mr. Conners continued. "Gwen, could you help him...maybe?"
"Uh...yeah, sure," Gwen responded awkwardly.
Mr. Conners was pleased and told them that they were dismissed.
Peter was late for his History class and the teacher took notice.
"You're late, Parker." The female teacher scolded.
"Well, Einstein said that time was relative right?"Peter quipped. "Maybe I'm not late, maybe you guys are early?"
Everyone was quiet for a moment until a girl giggled at Peter's joke and Peter knew who it was; Elizabeth 'Liz' Allen.
She has dark black hair, dark brown eyes and before Peter left, he used to have a crush on her.
"Are you going to sit down or are you just gonna block the projector's view?" The teacher asked him.
"Right. Sorry." Peter said as he sat down in the very back right next to Liz.
As Peter was writing notes, a note was passed to him and from the direction it was, Peter could see that it was from Liz. Peter secretly opened the note and it read,
I liked your joke (Smiley face)
Peter put the note in his pocket, blushing while he did it.
Third Hour Spanish class was, so far, not Peter's favorite class for at least one reason only; Flash Tompson was in it.
When the teacher left to get something, Flash thought it was his time to strike.
Flash tapped on Pete's shoulder and whispered, "Long time no see, am I right?"
"It's nice to see you too Eugene." Peter sassily replied.
Flash turned angry and took his paper, which had all of his notes on it.
"Look, Penis Parker, now that you're back, I should warn you; I'm smarter, I'm better and everyone hates you. So don't go thinking that you're all high and mighty, okay?"
Flash felt the paper being taken away from him, giving him a few paper cuts. As Flash exclaimed, "Ow," Peter saw that it was the owner of Ned's locker, Ben Riley. Ben gave Peter back his notes
"If I were you, Parker, I'd sit somewhere else," Ben told him as Peter went to sit at a different table.
After class, Peter went to thank Ben for helping him out, but Ben said, "It's not a problem, just don't make me have to stand up for you again next time."
During Lunch, Peter was trying to find a place to sit, but every table was taken by someone, but to his luck, he saw that Gwen Stacy was in this hour and she directed him to her table.
"Th-thanks, uh, Gwen."
"Now that you're here, we can get on to your tutoring," Gwen stated, pushing his lunch aside and putting several books on the table.
"My grilled cheese," Peter muttered, disappointed.
"Trust me, that sandwich wasn't grilled or cheesed, anyway, let's start with the basics," Gwen instructed, opening the first book. "Reviewing Chapters 1 through 6."
Lunch ended and Peter had to admit, that wasn't as bad as he thought it was gonna be and Gwen thought Peter was smart yet lazy, but she thought Peter was a decent guy.
5th Hour English was going easy so far, as it should be and because of how easy it was going, it gave Peter time to think about what happened last night. Peter could've sworn he knew the bald guy, but he doesn't ring a bell. Peter came out of reality when the teacher called for him.
"Mr. Parker, could you describe your favorite part of the summary which we just read?" He asked, hoping that he was paying attention.
Peter replied, "Um, my favorite part was how Benny was always trying to help people in need because to me, that's always wholesome to see and/or read,"
The man nodded and said, "My thoughts exactly, Mr. Parker." He said as he continued with a smile. "And the reason it's MY favorite part of the summary is that he learns that the first step to help others...is to help himself."
He was now saying this to the rest of the class as he continued.
"And in order to help yourself, you must first let others help you whenever the situation requires it. You must keep hope in difficult times, no matter how big or small that hope may seem."
Algebra was more difficult than Peter's usual standards. So overall, his first day of school was exhausting and heartbreaking.
Peter was walking home, looking at a picture with him and Ned, with a sad expression on his face, remembering all the good times they had together.
Like, at their favorite pizza place/arcade, the New York State Fair, the times they were able to put Flash Thompson in his place, and all those school projects that they worked on together. He quickly came out of his mind when he saw that Captain George Stacy was calling him.
"Yeah?"
"Kid, I just want to say a good job with last night," Captain Stacy complimented him.
"R-really," Peter asked him. "You think so?"
"Definitely! You found us some solid evidence on the weapon sellers and now, he can finally put out an APV on these guys."
"Gee, thanks, Captain Stacy."
"Just speaking the truth kid," Captain Stacy told him truly. "Hey, I need to ask you something,"
"What's up?"
"I need you to go back to the park and find that weapon that was lost, can you do that?" He finished with a question.
Peter lowered his head, hoping to go home, work on his homework and talk with Aunt May about his day, but decided to say something.
"I'm sorry sir, but I have something going on right now,"
Captain Stacy sighed, but said, "Okay, I understand. To be honest, I kinda knew that this would happen, since you now have school to go back to."
"How did you-"
"May told me. Don't worry, it's cool." He hung up.
After he hung up, Peter felt this familiar feeling he wished that he never had to feel again; he felt irresponsible.
Slowly, Peter went back home, but a half-smile came on his face when he saw Aunt May, cooking her famous spaghetti with Swedish meatballs.
"Hey, Peter, how was school?"
"Did you know that Ned moved to Missouri?"
May stopped in her tracks after she was asked that and responded with, "I heard from his mother that they were."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"I just got a chance to see you, let alone talk to you, so telling you that your best friend had moved away would just bring you more down than you already were."
Peter understood and slipped back into the nearest armchair.
"I guess your first day didn't go so well?" May asked, cautiously.
"Let me see," Peter started. "Not only do I have to put up with jerk Tompson again, but I have a mountain scale of work I have to redo and/or complete, my only friend in this entire is gone and he could've helped me catch up on everything!"
"It's probably not going off as a good start and I'm sorry, but you need this, you need a life outside of Spider-Man."
"Spider-Man is the only good thing that's going for me, May!" Peter exclaimed, with tears in his eyes. "When I'm puny Parker, I'm nothing! I have nothing going for me as a professional nerd and I am nothing without that suit!"
"If you're nothing without the suit, then you shouldn't have it!" May fired back.
A long silence filled the air but May continued, "Peter, you may not believe that you're not important without the mask, but you're important to me. You may not realize it, but my nephew is the one that makes the suit worthwhile."
Peter still had his head hanged down, not knowing what to do with his life, but he put his head back up when he felt May's arms around him, hugging him.
The next day was a long and hard one for Peter. Flash was being a complete and total jerk, his teachers were hard on him, and no friend was waiting for him at lunch.
But when lunch started, Gwen noticed two things; That Peter was getting the hang of Science and he was one more incident away from tears. That caused Gwen to close the books and ask Peter if he's okay and Peter responded with, "Honestly, I don't know what okay is anymore."
"A friend moved away?"
Peter was surprised by her guess, but stated, "He was my only friend actually."
Gwen started to pity him, so she put her hand on his hand and told him, "Hey, chin up. It's not like you can't find new friends."
"People aren't interested, talking to me that is."
"Mmm, I don't know about that," Gwen pondered. "You made a good impression on me."
After she said that, the bell rang for his 4th Hour class.
"That's my queue to leave, see you tomorrow, Pete." Gwen smiled as she walked off.
Before going to his class. Peter sat there for a moment, smiling.
