The next few days of school have actually been getting better, considering everything.

He had gotten caught up on his classes and now he's gained back his title as one of, if not, the smartest kids in this crummy school. Peter and Gwen were talking not just about studying, but about normal stuff and had his moments with the new guy, who Peter figured out his name finally.

In 3rd Hour

"Hey, Ben, have you seen my library book?"

"Which one was it again?"

"Quantum Dynamics and where they come from," Peter confirmed.

"Didn't you let that one girl in your Geometry class borrow it?" Ben asked him.

"Oh, right," Peter remembered that he gave it to Liz.

The bell rang and seeing Liz at her locker, he tapped her shoulder and asked, "Hey Liz, um, can I have my book back, please?"

"Oh, yeah, sure," Liz said as she gave Peter the book.

As Peter was walking to the cafeteria, he heard Liz shout out to him.

"Peter, wait," She said as he stopped in his tracks. "I know that this is the last second, but you know the homecoming formal that's coming up?"

Peter nodded and said, "Yeah, I heard about it."

Peter saw Liz blushing madly right before she asked, "Well...would you like to go to that with me?"

Peter was wide-eyed as she asked that and said with a blush of his own, "Yeah, definitely!"

Liz giggled and said, "Great, my dad can drive us there on Saturday."

Liz walked away leaving Peter in an excited mood for the rest of the day as he ran down to the Cafeteria, where he saw Gwen waiting for him.

"Hey Gwen, sorry I'm late."

"You really have a thing for apologizing too much, you know that?" She asked with a smile.

"I'm polite, what can I say?" Peter asked as he sat down.

"Listen, Pete," She started with a small blush as she removed her hair off her face.

This was the first time Peter has ever seen Gwen blush and he had to admit, it was cute and beautiful at the same time.

"Are you doing anything after school?"

Peter was intrigued by her question and responded with "No, I'm not."

"I need to get out of the house or I'll go insane in a week or so," She said as Peter laughed at her joke that may have been serious. "So, would you like to, I don't know, go to an arcade or something?"

Peter smirked and asked, "Is this a date?"

"No, no no no no," Gwen said quickly, still blushing. "This is just friends hanging out."

"Then yeah, that sounds great."

The comment Peter made earned him a slap on the shoulder and they both just laughed for a while, even as they both left for class and decided a time; 4:30 P.M.

After School

"Hey May, I'm home." Peter greeted May.

"Hey Peter, I made some chocolate chip cookies," May stated as she set a place of cookies on the table.

"Sweet, thanks May," Peter said as he took a cookie. "How was your day?"

"It was okay, nothing all that interesting," May told him. "How was yours?"

"It was...enjoyable." Peter paused.

May was glad that he finally had a good day, but was extremely surprised yet proud that he was going to the Homecoming with his crush and that he was going out this afternoon.

"So, the girl that you're seeing in an hour," May continued with a smile. "What's her name?"

"Gwen Stacy,"

"Is she related to Captain George Stacy, Spider-Man's partner in crime?"

"Yeah."

Peter saw that May was giving him a somewhat romantic smirk and told her, "I know that look and it's not a date."

"If it's not a date, then what is it supposed to be?" May asked, oblivious.

"Two friends hanging out at an arcade, getting a drink and/or a slice of pizza," Peter told him.

May chuckled and told him, "Funny, that's how Ben and I met."

Peter smiled, remembering his father figure without feeling sad.

"Maybe I should take her to that same pizza place," Peter suggested. "What was it called again?"

"Eddie's," May confirmed.

"Got it, thanks."

At 4:31 P.M.

"Crap, I'm gonna be late!" Peter exclaimed as he was running to Gwen's meeting place.

They were meeting at HeyDay, where it's both their favorite arcade in the city, where Gwen was on a bench, waiting patiently for Peter until finally, he showed up.

"Gwen, I'm sorry that I'm late."

"At least you showed up, now c'mon, we have an afternoon to waste!" Gwen stated excitedly.

The rest of the afternoon was filled with air hockey, basketball, almost every game in the arcade, especially Laser Tag.

But one moment, Peter saw that Gwen was frustrated.

"Why so glum, chum?"

"Claw machine."

After he said that, Peter knew the problem right away.

"What are you trying to get?"

"The big penguin," Gwen told him with her arms crossed.

"Step aside." Peter jokingly asked as he gently pushed her aside.

He turned the lever ever so slightly and the penguin was won

Gwen gasped in delight and she retrieved it from the machine.

"And this is for you." Gwen smiled as she pushed the penguin in his arms.

The last game on their to-do list was Mini golf and they were both terrible at it, but it was fun for both of them that they were both trying.

"Aaaaannnnnd...missed," Peter sighed in defeat.

As Gwen was laughing, her phone rang and it was seen to be her dad.

"Hold that thought," Gwen told Peter as she answered it. "Hello?"

"Turn around." Ordered her dad on the phone.

She did just that and she frowned that her dad was watching them the entire time. She hung up the phone and turned to Peter in disappointment.

"I gotta go,"

"Well...thank you."

"For what?" She asked him confused.

"For helping me cheer up."

Gwen grinned at him, clearly enjoyed their time together, and, to Peter's surprise, kissed Peter on the cheek.

"Looks like you owe me one, Petey." She told him in great serious humor as she ran towards her father's cop car.

Before she got too far, Peter shouted for her, "How about a slice of Pizza some time?"

Gwen stopped at her car and didn't even have to think about it.

"How about next week? At Eddie's?" She offered.

"I'll pay." Peter offered in return.

She grinned and said to him, "I have no idea what other girls don't see in you."

She got in the car and he saw the two drive off into the night.

Author's Note: I know that this chapter was arguably the shortest chapter yet. But, I promise, the other chapters are gonna be a lot better.
