The hangout with Shoji was a little short-lived as people started coming back, but Mineta was okay with that. Any minute he got to spend with Shoji is pure bliss.
Of course, Kaminari wanted details. He asked for said details the next day.
So now here was Kaminari and Mineta, hanging out in the latter's dorm.
"So was there any progress?" Kaminari eagerly asked.
"Not really ... we just kind sat and watched the news," Mineta explained.
"What? You didn't talk or anything?"
"No. Just ... enjoyed each other's company, I suppose," Mineta explained.
"But you DO plan on confessing at some point, right?" Kaminari asked
"I could, but ... I still don't know if he even likes guys. I've always thought that was the norm," Mineta explained.
"Bro, I think everyone in our class is somehow LGBT," Kaminari reasoned.
"Maybe," Mineta agreed.
Almost as if on cue, Mineta's phone chimed. Curious, he looked over at it.
"Who is it?" Kaminari asked, curiously.
"It's Tokoyami!" Mineta said, excitedly.
"Tokoyami?" Kaminari repeated, clearly confused.
"He said he'd talk to Shoji! See if I have a chance!" Mineta explained.
"Really? That's pretty cool of him," Kaminari said. "Think he got some sort of answer?"
"That's probably what it is!" Mineta said, grabbing his phone. But as he snatched it, his face fell.
"What is it?" Kaminari asked, noticing.
"What if it's a no-go?" Mineta asked, nervously.
"Well, you won't know for sure until you see what he has to say," Kaminari said.
"You're right," Mineta said. Then he opened up his messages.
Edgy Birb: Update on Shoji: I think you have a chance.
Mineta's jaw fell to the floor.
"What is it? What'd he say?" Kaminari eagerly asked.
Mineta didn't respond. Instead, he held up his phone for Kaminari to see.
"OH MY GOD, THAT'S GREAT!" Kaminari shouted, clearly in fanboy mode.
Mineta closed his mouth and started to type out a response.
Grape Boi: Wait, what?! Really?!
Edgy Birb: Yes.
Grape Boi: How do you know? What happened?
Tokoyami stared at the question before him, the situation once again playing in his mind.
Last night
Tokoyami and Shoji were in the former's dorm. They were having a typical hangout that consisted of meditation and a few rounds of Among Us. Once they had done both, they tried to think of something to do. It didn't take long for Tokoyami to think of something. After all, he DID have a promise to fulfill.
"May I ask a question?" the bird-headed teen asked.
"You just did," Shoji joked.
"Ha ha," Tokoyami said, sarcastically.
"Yes, you can ask a question," Shoji said.
"Do any of our peers catch your eye?"
Shoji fell silent at that.
Tokoyami smirked. "Is that a yes?"
"No, it's not a yes. It's just ... that question caught me off guard. Since when were you interested in gossip?" Shoji asked.
Now it was Tokoyami's turn to fall silent.
You need to answer him, you know. Dark Shadow said in his head.
I know, I know. I just need to think of an appropriate response. Tokoyami explained.
Well, you better come up with something quick. Dark Shadow chuckled.
"I ask because we're friends. I feel like we should know if there's anyone that has peaked our interest so that we can help each other out," Tokoyami explained.
"I see," Shoji said. "Well, as of right now, no one in particular is catching my eye."
"All right," Tokoyami said. "What would you say your type is?"
"Well ... if I'm gonna be honest ... I could settle for any gender. Gender doesn't matter much to me," Shoji admitted.
"That's honestly how I feel," Tokoyami said in agreement.
Then Shoji smirked. "What about you? Anyone you're interested in?"
Tokoyami shook his head. "No. The same as you."
"All right, then."
The hangout proceeded from there. But Tokoyami DID learn some crucial information.
Shoji could go either way, which meant that Mineta had a chance.
Tokoyami thought about the conversation that unfolded for a bit before responding.
Edgy Birb: We were hanging out last night and we started talking about what our types are. He said that gender doesn't really matter to him. This means he would date a guy. So yes. I believe you have a chance.
Mineta started grinning uncontrollably.
Grape Boi: Thank you so much! This was really helpful! Thank you thank you thank you!
Edgy Birb: It was nothing.
"YOU ACTUALLY HAVE A CHANCE! I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!" Kaminari shouted.
"Yeah! I can't believe I actually do!" Mineta said, a blush spreading across his face.
"All you have to do now is confess!"
Mineta's smile immediately disappeared. "It's not that simple. I want to confess when I know for certain that he might actually like me back. Just because he would date a guy, doesn't mean he wants me."
"True," Kaminari admitted. "Maybe you just need to spend more time with him?"
"Maybe," Mineta agreed.
Their conversation was interrupted when their phones chimed. It was a message in the Class Group Chat.
Class Dad: Everyone report to the common room! Aizawa-sensei has an announcement!
The two boys looked at each other before standing up and heading over to the common room to see what Aizawa had to say.
Once everyone was gathered, Aizawa started talking.
"As you all know, the holidays are coming up. We decided to give you a week off from school so you can hang out with your families. Classes will resume after New Year's. I suggest you start packing what you'll need for the week," Aizawa said.
Everyone cheered.
"However, this isn't an opportunity to slack off. There are going to be some minor assignments to keep your brains sharp. But don't stress too much about them. They shouldn't be too hard," Aizawa added.
Everyone groaned.
Still, they were getting to go home!
Everyone exchanged excited looks, looking forward to seeing their families again and getting to be with them for the holidays.
Except Mineta.
Being stuck inside the same building as his family for a week sounded like an absolute nightmare. Still, he probably didn't have a choice.
Everyone started to leave so they could start getting ready, Mineta included, when Aizawa stopped him.
"I still remember the kind of environment you're home is. Don't feel forced to go back. Us teachers are staying here so we can watch over the building. You can stay here, if you want," Aizawa explained.
Mineta considered it, but then he shook his head. "I can't do that to you guys. You've helped me out enough. I don't want to be in your way if you have business to take care of. Besides, it's only a week. If I just keep my gayness to myself, I'll be fine," he assured.
"Are you sure?" Aizawa asked.
Mineta nodded. "Positive."
Aizawa hesitated a moment before nodding. "Okay. If you're sure."
"I am."
He wasn't.
