HALLEY'S P. O. V
She looked at the door when she heard someone knocking, so without waiting for her cousin permission she went to open, her blue eyes meeting Lena's.
"Hi" she smiled, the woman barely smiling back at her, she seemed nervous.
"Hal, baby, I told you not..." her cousin stopped speaking the moment she saw who was standing in front of them.
Kara grabbed her arm to pull her away from Lena, kind of trying to push her behind her as if her cousin was trying to make sure that the woman wouldn't be able to get close to her.
"I have made a terrible mistake" Lena finally said after closing the door. "I was hurt. I was so hurt and... I thought I could get rid of the hurt, I thought that I knew better, that I could make the world a better place..., but I was wrong" the woman was about to start crying as her cousin frowned. "That hurt, um, took me down a dark, dark path, where I was blind to what I was really doing, to what I'd become" words didn't seemed to want to come out of her mouth. "You were right. This whole time I became a villain, and then... I'm not looking for forgiveness, I'm... I know what I said and I know what I did, but I am... I am really hoping that you will believe me right now, Okay?" her cousin's former best friend tried to fight her tears." Lex is working with Leviathan, and they are going to use Obsidian to do something terrible... using the system that I made with my project. I didn't know I was helping them, but I did and... now I want to help stop them, so... please, I want to help stop Lex and Leviathan" Lena asked as her cousin sighed.
She stared back and forth from both of them, truly believing Lena's words, but understanding that for Kara was hard to trust after everything that had been happening during the last months.
The last time she had seen the CEO was when Lex kidnapped her that night and that woman did try her best to take her out of that lab, even staying with her at the apartment until she fell asleep, just making sure that she was safe.
She got rid of her cousin's grip, who really tried to stop her, but managing to get closer to Lena to hug herself at her, which took the woman by surprise.
"Hal" it was Kara who called her, but she didn't move, feeling how Lena wrapped her arms around her.
"You didn't deserve anything I did to you, kiddo" the woman said, pulling away to kneel down to her height. "I'm so sorry, Halley" the CEO whispered as she gave her a soft smile.
"It's okay, I forgive you" she told her, looking directly into her eyes.
"I don't think I deserve forgiveness" Lena said as she frowned, shaking her head before hugging her again.
They stood like that until the door opened, her older self walking inside with Comet, who pulled from his leash to get closer to her.
"Everything okay?" the teenager asked after observing the scene.
"Yeah, Lena was about to tell me about Lex and Leviathan's plan" Kara answered.
The puppy ran towards her, tackling her to the floor, which made her smile widely while hugging him, just playing with Comet while Lena explained what was going on.
She hid behind her cousin the moment Alex, Nia, J'onn and M'gann kicked inside the apartment, her hands gripping her cousin's sweater in fear.
"No, Alex, no!" Kara exclaimed as she observed how Alex pointed to Lena with a gun.
"You texted 911" Alex pointed out.
"Not about her, she's here to help" her cousin said as they all relaxed. "It's okay, baby" Kara whispered while gently stroking her hair.
After calming down a little, she finally let go of her cousin, smiling widely while running towards them, her arms wrapping around Alex's legs, who smiled back at her.
"Hi, sweetheart" Alex caressed her hair.
She sat next to her cousin as Lena explained again what was going on with Lex and Leviathan, Kara wrapping her arms around her the moment she shivered scared.
"So Lex and Leviathan are planning something using Obsidian's virtual reality platform" J'onn said as if he wanted to make sure that he had understood the explanation.
"And my tech likely made that possible" Lena pointed out.
"That must be why Rama Khan went after the DEO's kryptonite" Alex commented as she frowned, trying to keep herself as close as possible to her cousin.
"To keep Supergirl from interfering" Nia added.
"Well, the joke's on Rama Khan and his big, dumb gladiator outfit, because I've already defeated him once" Kara said kind of angrily, but she shook her head, if they had kryptonite they couldn't let her fight him.
"Don't be rash, Kara, he's tied to the Earth" J'onn told her. "Which means he can track your slightest movements, if you use your powers even once, he will sense them, and attack" he explained.
"With all that kryptonite at his fingertips, he could kill you" M'gann pointed out, but her cousin wasn't really listening to them.
"You guys will protect me" Kara said as she gripped her arm.
"No" she barely murmured, but it was enough for her cousin to look at her. "He will kill you" she told her the moment their eyes met, tears being contained in hers.
"No, baby, come here" Kara forced her to sit on her lap, embracing her tightly, her head resting on her shoulder. "Everything will be fine, okay?" her cousin kissed the top of her head.
She closed her eyes, tears finding their way out as her hands clang tightly to her cousin's jumper, afraid of letting go, not knowing if her cousin would leave to fight Rama Khan.
Kara stroked her hair as the rest kept talking, just wanting to keep her as calm as possible, but pulling her away to grab her face.
"I'm not leaving, baby" her cousin assured her.
"You promise?" she questioned her, looking directly into her eyes.
"I promise, sweetie" Kara answered while embracing her again.
She remained embraced to her cousin until they decided what they would be doing, just wanting to believe Kara's words.
KARA'S P. O. V
She felt desperate. They needed to find Eve before something would happen to William, kind of blaming herself for him being involved in all of this.
"Talk about history repeating itself, tracking Lex down through Eve... it's just like Kaznia" Lena commented while looking at her, to what she could only stared back at her kind of angrily. "Please, Kara, I'm sorry" the woman apologized. "Okay, I truly believed what I was doing was helping people."
"I told you, I don't want to talk about the past" she interrupted her, just walking away from her, wanting to remain calm.
"Oh, come on, you can scream at me if you'd like" Lena told her. "I know I deserve it, I know now that working with Non Nocere was a mistake, that working with Lex was a mistake..." she didn't let her to continue talking.
"This isn't about Lex!" she snapped at her. "This is about J'onn and Alex and all the other people that could have been killed today because they're on my team, Don't you understand that?" she questioned her, not being able to contain her anger for longer.
"No, I do" the CEO answered. "Of course I do"
"No, you don't" she shook her head, by that moment both Halleys were staring at them. "You have never understood what it means to share a secret identity with someone, how much danger that puts them in" she told her, observing how Lena was trying to say something. "You... you never even understood that I kept my identity from you because I wanted to protect you" she pointed at her, upset, knowing that she had hurt her with her decision, but she had made it because of being afraid of something happening to her friend. "And I know, I know that I hurt you by waiting so long to tell my truth, but what about all the ways you hurt me?" she asked her. "You pretended to be my friend for weeks, just so you could manipulate me. You stole from me. You convinced me to steal for you. And then, then, you even..." she enumerated until her voice cracked. "You... you used kryptonite on me and not just me, you used it on Halley. You experimented on my cousin... My daughter" she pointed to the child that was staring at them kind of afraid of what was going on. "I made one mistake. One mistake that was only ever meant to protect you and in return, all you did was hurt me in every way imaginable" she finally let all of her anger free, feeling even better with herself.
"I'm sorry" Lena apologized in barely a whisper.
"I know you are" she said, the woman's words were sincere. "But if you came to me looking for absolution, I can't give it to you" she shook her head as Eve's location appeared on the screen of the computer. "I'm going" she said ready to leave.
"Kara, your suit isn't ready yet" Lena tried to stop her, but she started walking.
"I don't care" she interrupted her. "Protecting people is what I do, you should know that by now" she told her.
"Then I'm going with you" the woman said as she approached her cousins.
The eight year old was staring at her scared, so she couldn't avoid embracing her, her cousin's hands gripping tightly to her jacket.
"Hal, I want both of you to go home" she asked the teen, who nodded slightly.
"No" the child shook her head. "I don't want them to hurt you" her cousin whispered, so she increased the strength of the hug.
"It's going to be okay, baby" she tried to calm her down, but the kid refused to let go of her. "I just need you to be safe" she told her.
"I love you" the eight year old barely whispered.
"I love you, too" she answered her, kissing her forehead. "Both of you" she added wrapping one of her arms around the teenager, who hugged herself against them, her blue eyes closed.
"Be careful" her teenage cousin asked.
"I'll be" she whispered, slowly pulling away from both of them, just looking one last time at them before preparing herself to fight against Leviathan.
She smiled a little while observing how Eve was hugging her mother. Everything was going as it should, even though she felt uneasy not knowing how the rest was doing with the fight, but she was able to stop Obsidian's launched with Lena's help.
"In the last world, she betrayed us. We may never know what was driving her, but... I do know what was driving you" Lena turned to look at her after having observed the reunion between Eve and her mother. "You didn't want to tell me who you really were because you didn't want me to get hurt" the woman said as she sighed. "But I did get hurt and I did what I always do when people hurt me, I... built a wall and I suffocated behind it" she looked away while hearing her say that. "Makes it very difficult to see things from other people's point of view. But I see yours now and I am very sorry it took me so long" her friend apologized, to what she slightly frowned.
"You know, when you showed up at my door this morning, I... I didn't wanna let you in" she admitted, it had been hard to watch how her baby cousin embraced Lena without even thinking about everything the woman had done. "And I kept waiting for you to let me down, but at every turn, you came through... Building that suit, protecting my identity, supporting me" she enumerated. "I wasn't ready to accept your apology, but maybe... Maybe I am now" she smiled a little, part of her just wanting her best friend back.
"Okay. What now?" Lena asked.
"Well, there's still one bad guy left to catch" she answered as she heard the high pitch of her cousin's necklace, panic being reflected on her face. "I... I have to go, Halley is in danger" she told Lena, who looked at her without understanding what was going on.
"We don't know if it's safe for you to fly around the city" her friend tried to stop her, but she really needed to get to her cousin.
"I don't care, I need to get to her" she pointed out starting to stress out, only stopping when a portal was opened in front of her, looking at Lena to see how her friend nodded slightly, so she walked through it.
The moment they walked inside the apartment Comet ran towards them, barking as if he was trying to tell her that something was wrong.
Her apartment was a mess, she could tell that a fight had taken place there while she was gone.
"Hey, shh, it's okay, boy" she told him, just wanting to shushed him, but all she got was him barking before running behind the couch.
She could feel her panic raising as she approached him, Lena following closely, but both of them stopping abruptly at the sight of the teenager sitting on the floor with her back leaning on the couch, Halley's eyes closed.
For a few seconds she stood there, unsure of what to do, feeling sick because of the kryptonite dagger that was stuck on the girl's left leg. Her cousin was taking sharp breaths, her blue eyes barely opening before they were shut again, which helped her understand that the teen was trying to work through the panic attack that she was having.
She observed the girl with worry, just wanting to wrap her arms around her and keep her calm, however, part of her was still on alert, looking for the eight year old, who she had hoped to come out of hiding, but it never happened.
"Hal" she named her in just a whisper, not wanting to scare her. "Hey, What happened? Where is Halley?" she questioned her, kneeling down on the floor, not caring about the kryptonite or the pool of blood her cousin was sitting on.
"Lex" it was just was a murmur, but she was able to hear it, her hands turning into fists at the realization that he had taken her baby cousin again.
Halley opened her eyes to look at her, her heart breaking when she observed the tears that were being contained in them as the teen apologized for what had happened while she was gone, but at that moment she didn't care about listening the story, she just needed to make sure that the girl was alright and to start looking for the eight year old.
"Can I take a look at the wound?" Lena asked, getting both of them to look at her, observing how the girl barely nodded.
The woman kneeled down, her hands barely touching the place were the dagger met her cousin's skin, but it was enough for the teen to whimper, to what Comet barked loudly while trying to get himself in between Lena and Halley, growling to the CEO.
"Hey, hey, it's okay" she had to grabbed his collar to take him from there, before ordering to sit beside her. "Good boy" she petted him.
She was able to feel the effects of the kryptonite weakening every single one of her powers, feeling completely drained, but trying her best to remain strong for her cousin, feeling how the girl fell limp against her.
"Hal, open your eyes" she asked her, reaching for her cousin's face, the teen was sweating, probably running a fever. "Halley" she named her, but the girl remained with her eyes closed.
"We have to take her back to the lab" Lena told her, to what she nodded.
She made use of all her strength that was left to pick up the unconscious teenager, asking Lena to grab Comet, she was taking him to the lab as well.
They walked through the portal back to the lab, having to leave her cousin on one of the stretchers and, even though she wanted to stay there with her, she was forced to leave because of the kryptonite, so at that moment she was sitting on the floor with Comet in between her arms, just hoping for everything to turn out alright.
HALLEY'S P. O. V
She sobbed while using her heat vision to try to open the door. She just wanted to get out, to go back with her cousin.
"Stop, you're going to solar flare" that voice made her turned her head a little, her blue eyes meeting the person she feared the most at that moment.
She did stop using her heat vision, but she ran towards him with all the strength she could, her hands forming fists to punch him.
"Enough" Lex tried to grabbed her arms as she screamed angrily, pushing him away before running to the open door. "I said enough!" he yelled at her while picking her up, which only got her to kick even if it was just to the thin air.
"No! No!" she cried when she saw the bed that was in front of them, still trying to get rid of his grip, but Lex increased the strength.
She sobbed as he managed to lay her down, her body being weakened because of the kryptonite that was near the bed, but she kept fighting until her wrists were handcuffed to it.
"Please" she begged in between sobs, the kryptonite burnt in her skin.
"I told you to stop and you didn't listen" Lex looked at her, his left hand forcing her to turn her head to the right. "This will help you calm down" he said while injecting her the liquid kryptonite, which only made her scream even louder. "Try to rest, little kryptonian" he patted her head shortly before leaving the room.
She kept screaming, just hoping for her cousin to be able to hear her as she knew that Kara would be looking for her, so she didn't stop until she was carried away into unconsciousness.
Hi!
Season five ended with a huge cliffhanger about Lex's plans and about Brainy 'dying'... I mean, we all know that the Superfriends will get there on time to save him.
I'll continue to write what would have happened after that final episode with what I think it fits the best with Halley's story.
Thanks so much for reading, let me know what you think,
Ayrin
