KARA'S P. O. V
She kissed the asleep teenager on the forehead shortly before walking outside of the place where they were keeping her cousin, her right hand gripping her smart phone tightly, probably enough to break it.
William had been calling through the whole night after she had sent him a message to ask him how he was doing about the shot.
However, she hadn't answered to any of his calls, afraid of not knowing what to tell him as she needed to lie to him about her real self and even about what was going on with her baby cousin.
"How's Halley?" her sister asked her the moment she approached her.
"Asleep" she answered. "She barely woke up before falling asleep again" she explained. "Did you find anything about Lex?" she questioned her, hoping for an answer, for something to hold on, she really needed to find her cousin before he would break her again.
"No, we're looking for Halley's solar signature, but it's like if she has disappeared" Alex answered, to what she sighed. "Lena is looking in every lab she can think of, we'll find her" her sister embraced her, wanting to calm her down.
"How's Brainy?" she asked the moment they pulled away.
"He's okay thanks to Nia, it could have been worse" her sister pointed out, getting her to nod, it could have been definitely worse.
She frowned a little when her phone buzzed, William's name written on the screen causing her to sighed while blocking her phone, still trying to figure out what she should do.
"William?" Alex stared at her, to what she nodded slightly.
"He's been calling and I... I don't know what to do" she admitted in just a whisper. "Whatever I answer is going to be a lie, so I'm trying to avoid it" she commented, still confused about what she should do.
"Well, you can always tell him the truth" her sister pointed out, getting her to sigh.
"I don't know... It could put him even in more danger" she shrugged, being unsecured about it.
She observed how Alex was about to talk, but being interrupted by Halley's scream, so she ran back into that room.
The teenager was tossing on the bed, the trace of tears covering her cheeks, having to hold her arms while whispering soothing words in her ear.
"It was just a nightmare" she whispered the moment the teen opened her eyes. "You're safe, baby" she gently brushed her brown hair away from her face.
"How are you feeling? Is your leg hurting?" Alex asked, to what the girl shook her head, barely making eye contact with either of them.
"Hey, whatever happened yesterday is not your fault" she told her, her hand holding her cousin's chin so the girl would look at her.
"But I couldn't stop him" Halley murmured, still blaming herself.
"You tried" she interrupted her, the teen sighing. "All that matters now is that you're okay" she smiled while caressing her face.
"We're going to find them" her sister said, wanting to calm down the teenager.
"Kara?" they turned when they heard Kelly calling her. "William has just called me asking about you, he's worried" her sister's girlfriend told her, making her to frown unsure of what to do. "I told him that you're okay, but he's really worried and won't believe me unless he talks to you" Kelly explained.
"You should call him" her sister pointed out, to what she stared at her, feeling scared.
"But... What do I tell him?" she questioned them, not wanting to lie to him, but knowing that she didn't have another option.
"The truth" it was Halley who answered, getting all of them to look at her. "He's going to be putting himself in danger until you tell him that you're Supergirl" the teenager explained.
"Did I tell him on the other Earth?" she questioned her, observing how her cousin nodded. "How did it go?"
"Good? I don't know, I wasn't there" Halley answered as her phone buzzed one more time, that time she could read a text telling her that he was going to her apartment.
"Oh God, I have to go, please, tell me if you find something" she asked her sister, who nodded slightly shortly before she could fly back to her loft, not being ready to confront the truth.
LITTLE HALLEY'S P. O. V
She stared at the door waiting for the moment that it would open, her wrists burning because of the kryptonite, closing her eyes for a few seconds the moment it happened.
"Hi, good morning" Lex smiled. "Did you sleep well?" he asked her, slowly taking off the cuffs from her wrists before grabbing her arms to help her sit on the bed. "Come here" he whispered while picking her up to leave her on the floor.
"Where are we going?" she asked when he grabbed her left hand and started walking outside the room, making her frown as she didn't understand where he was taking her.
However, he didn't answer, just continue walking as she observed the place, she recognized it from last year, she had been there for only a few days before Red Daughter had taken her to Eliza.
As they walked inside a room, she pulled from his hand, trying to get rid of his grip and hide, not being able to avoid the bad memories she had from the woman that was standing in front of them, from CADMUS.
"Here, change into this clothes" Lex said while giving an overall and a t-shirt to her, to what she stood there confused. "The bathroom is there, don't do anything stupid" he warned her shortly before she walked inside the bathroom.
She got herself ready, wiping the first tears that were about to stream down her cheeks, her eyes red because of the crying during the night, just being afraid of whatever Lex was planning for her.
"Kryptonian, come out" she heard him say, so she sighed to calm herself down before finally opening the door to face him. "Good, now let's go have breakfast" he told her while guiding her to a table. "Could you do her hair as she eat?" he asked his mother, who nodded slightly while approaching her.
"Halley, right?" the woman asked, observing her, to what she barely nodded.
She didn't understand why he was caring about her or why Lillian didn't seem to recognize her, though it could be because that event with CADMUS never happened in that Earth.
Her stomach rumbled the moment Lex left a plate of pancakes in front of her, but she remained still, not daring to eat the food.
"Eat it, I know you're hungry" the man in front of her told her, so she took the fork still a little unconvinced. "If I were you, I would eat it" he warned after seeing her hesitated.
She started eating slowly as Lillian braided her dark brown hair into two French braids, her gaze focusing just on the food.
Lex gripped her arm shortly before placing a bracelet on her left wrist, which made her frown while observing it, kind of confused about what was it purpose.
"What's this?" she couldn't avoid asking.
"Behave and you won't have to learn what it does" he answered. "Have you finished?" he asked her, to what she didn't even bother to answer. "Okay, let's go" Lex smiled while gripping her hand.
She walked beside him with her head down, confused and scared about where he was taking her, but remaining in silence as she didn't really want to know.
Lex stopped in front of a door, looking at her for a few seconds before finally opened it, having to blink to get used to the new amount of light, however, the moment her gaze met the person that was in front of them, she couldn't avoid closing her eyes while tugging from his hand.
"Hey, stop" Lex said when she tried to hide behind him, tears threatening to escape her blue eyes. "I thought you would be happy" he commented as she sighed, not sure of how she should be feeling.
She managed to get rid of his grip, walking backwards as she tried to calm down, but when her gaze met the woman's that was in front of her, she couldn't avoid the sobs that were coming out of her throat.
She didn't understand what was going on or how it was possible for her mom, who had died four years ago, to be standing there, observing her with so much pain in her eyes.
"Little one, it's me" those words only got her to grip Lex's shirt in panic, not truly believing her.
"You don't want to give her a hug?" Lex asked while trying to hold her to put her in front of him, so that she would be closer to her mom.
"No, no, no" she shook her head, fighting against him, to what he ended up leaving her on the floor before grabbing her hand again.
"Okay, we will come later, hopefully you're a little calmer" he commented shortly before taking her out of that room as she kept sobbing. "Hey, look at me" he crouched in front of her, his hand grabbing her face. "Stop crying" Lex warned her, but she couldn't avoid the sobs from out of her throat.
"I want Kara" she was barely able to say, staring at him with pleading eyes, she needed her cousin.
"You have your mom in that room and you want your cousin?" he questioned her while frowning.
"She's dead!" she screamed while pushing him before starting running away, her mother was dead, it wasn't possible for that woman to be her mom.
She was able to hear him running behind her, but she didn't stop, not until she got to a dead end, looking with teary eyes for a way out while trying to calm herself down.
"Stop, Kryptonian" Lex said, so she turned to face him, getting herself ready to attack. "Don't" he warned as her eyes were turning red because of the heat vision.
She didn't have time to react when she felt a needle piercing her left wrist, a burning sensation all over her arm, which made her screamed as she tried to pull from the bracelet he has put on her wrist that morning.
However, every time she touched it, the pain was even worse, starting to extend to her chest and neck as she observed how her veins were painted in green. It was kryptonite.
"It's going to keep hurting if you don't stop" Lex told her while approaching her, her knees bending which caused her to fall to the floor.
"No! Let me go!" she screamed when he picked her up, really trying to get rid of his grip.
"I'm losing my patience, kid" he said loud enough for her to hear it, her eyes closing as she let him carry her to wherever he was taking her.
She looked around herself the moment he left her on a stretcher, observing the room quietly, her body still shaking because of the crying.
Her gaze was fixed on the machine that was next to them, not even moving when Lex unbraided her hair, but looking away when he grabbed her face to force her to look at him.
"Are you going to behave?" he asked her, to what she nodded, being tired because of the kryptonite that was still running through her veins. "Good girl" he smirked while patting her head. "Now, you're going to lay down on that table that it's going to take you inside the tube..." she couldn't avoid interrupting him.
"But I don't want to go inside that tube" she whined completely afraid of getting herself in there all alone.
"It's okay, it won't hurt unless you don't behave" he told her, which didn't manage to calm her down. "You have to stay still during the whole process, okay?" Lex stared directly into her eyes, so she barely nodded.
He picked her up to lay her down on that table, starting to panic when he locked her head in place so she couldn't move it, her blue eyes locking with his with fear.
"I'll be in that room all the time" he said as if he wanted to reassure her. "You can close your eyes, but remember, don't move" he remembered her as the table was getting inside the tube.
She felt a pressure over her chest, barely being able to breathe as the seconds passed, forcing herself to close her eyes to try to remain calm, even though, she wasn't sure if she was going to be able to.
She felt a lump in her throat, her eyes burning because of the tears that were contained in them, she just wanted to go back home.
KARA'S P. O. V
"Hi" she smiled softly while opening the door, William observing her.
"Thanks God you're okay" he sighed as she let him walked inside the apartment, her hands sweating because of the nervousness. "I'm sorry I came without giving you time, but I was really worried" he apologized.
"It's okay" she whispered, barely finding her voice. "How are you doing with the shot? Is it healing?" she asked him, being concerned as she knew he had refused to stay in the hospital despite the doctor advice.
"Yeah, I'm doing well" William answered, observing her again. "Is everything okay? You look nervous" he commented as she frowned, Was it that obvious?
She just stared back at him for a few seconds, trying to find a way to tell him what was going on, who she really was, but being scared of how it was going to change their relationship.
"I... Um..." she didn't know how to start, his blue eyes focused on her as he waited for her to continue talking. "There's something I have to tell you" she finally admitted, still taking her time to think the perfect words to say.
"You know you can tell me anything, right?" he asked her after she had standed there in silence, nodding slightly to his question.
She kind of sighed with relief when she saw her phone screen lighting up, her sister's name written on it, so she picked it up, hoping for a way to get out of that situation.
"Alex" she named her sister.
"Lena thinks she might know where he's hiding, J'onn's there trying to find if it's really the place" her sister started to explain, but she interrupted her.
"What? I'm coming, What's the location?" she asked.
"I think it's best if you don't go, not until we're sure" Alex answered her, getting her to frown angrily.
"Of course I'm going, he has my cousin!" she snapped at her sister, William's eyes widening the moment he heard her.
"I know and I know that you're desperate, but we can't rush things, Kara" her sister tried to reason with her.
"If it's him, tell me, please" she asked her.
"Sure" Alex said shortly before hanging up the call.
She closed her eyes while trying to calm herself down, there was a chance that they would find her baby cousin and she needed to be there when that would happen.
"What's going on? Who has your cousin?" William asked her.
"Lex" she answered, wanting to control her anger, just observing how he stared at her confused.
"Why would he kidnapped your cousin?" he questioned her.
"It's related to the thing I have to tell you" she bowed down her head, afraid that his reaction would be the same as Lena's. "Lex is obsessed with Kryptonians..."
"Wait, I thought Halley was your biological cousin" he commented as she sighed.
"She is" she answered while removing her glasses, her Supergirl's suit replacing the clothes she had been wearing until that moment. "I'm Supergirl" she finally told him, just waiting for a reaction, but he was looking at her without doing or saying anything.
"Wow... Just wow" he finally talked. "So now I understand everything" he said as she stayed still, not knowing what his reaction meant.
"You're not mad?" she was barely able to murmur.
"Mad? No" he shook his head. "This is amazing! You're amazing!" he exclaimed with a huge smile on his face, which made her smile a little as well. "Now I know why you disappeared from time to time, at first I really thought you were avoiding me..."
"I'm sorry I haven't told you before, but I was afraid I would put you in danger" she interrupted him.
"Yeah, I don't think it's something you can tell everyone you meet" he smiled at her. "It's okay, you had your reasons and I bet one of them was your cousin's safety, right?" William asked as she looked away.
She had never thought about that being a reason to not tell him, but it was true that after what had happened with Lena, she was afraid of someone else knowing her baby cousin's identity.
"I try so hard to keep everyone I love safe, but here we are, not even knowing where to start looking and it's scary" she answered to his question. "This is not the first time Lex has kidnapped her, I'm aware of what he's capable of... It was a long recovery for her, so I know this time isn't going to be different, but I'm not ready for it" she tried to explain, barely being able to find her own voice because of how much she was fearing everything he could be doing to Halley.
"Well, when that time comes, she will be surrounded by everyone who loves her and most importantly she'll be with you" William pointed to her. "Is there anything I can do to help?" he asked her, but she shook her head.
"No, I... I prefer if you don't get involved in any of this, you've been already in so much danger" she told him, seeing him nodded slightly.
"Okay, tell me if you know anything" he asked her while heading to the door. "And Kara, your cousin is such a brave and smart kid, she knows you're looking for her" he told her, looking directly into her eyes.
"Thank you" she whispered shortly before he left, moment at which she flew back to Lena's apartment, ready to keep investigating.
LITTLE HALLEY'S P. O. V
When she opened her eyes, she couldn't remember how long it had been since she had been laying on that stretcher, still being able to feel a sharp pain in her right hip.
A few electrodes were still over her forehead and rest of her head, fighting her own tiredness to bring her hand to touch them, but flinching the moment Lex named her.
"Don't take them off" he warned her, her head turning to her right, to where he was standing.
"It hurts" she whined when she tried to move.
"I know, it's not healed yet" he answered as her gaze focused on the sun lamps that were above her, her eyes closing at that familiar warm feeling.
She remained like that for as long as possible, singing in her head the Kryptonian lullaby over and over again, just trying to be focus on that as she hoped for her cousin to find her.
"The bone example is valid" she heard Lillian say, getting her to open her eyes in panic, not truly understanding why he would need an example of her bone.
"Great, start working on it" Lex told her before turning to her. "I think your brain study is done, too" he commented taking off the electrodes.
"Why do you study my brain?" she dared to asked.
"It works different than a human's brain" he answered simply. "And now let's get you ready before taking you back with your mom" Lex said, to what she sighed, she didn't even remember that. "You can't tell her anything about this" he looked directly into her eyes.
"Why?" she asked.
"You know what will happen if you do it" he pointed out.
"You'll hurt Kara" she whispered in fear, she couldn't lose her cousin.
"You learn fast" he commented with a smile as she looked away.
She got ready without complaining even though her hip was still hurting, not wanting for him to hurt her cousin, so she even followed him through the hallway back to that room, having to stand in front of the door for a few seconds just to calm herself down.
Her eyes barely met her mom's as she walked towards a kiddy bed, laying on it before curling into herself as she burst into tears.
"Halley?" that voice just made her to sob even louder, her tiny hands covering her face. "Come here, little one" she felt two hands trying to grab her.
"No, no! Don't touch me!" she couldn't avoid screaming, still not believing that that woman was her mother. "I want Kara!" she sobbed.
"Shh, shh, I know you do" the woman embraced her tightly, sitting on the bed with her in between her arms, still sobbing while trying to get rid off of the grip.
Her head was forced to rest over the woman's chest, her eyes closing as her hearing picked up a heartbeat, one that she had memorized ever since she was little.
She put her hands on her mom's shoulders, pulling herself away a little just to stare to her face, their blue eyes meeting as she was able to observe the tears that were being contained in the woman's eyes.
"Mommy?" she questioned her, still not sure.
"It's me, my little star" that nickname in kryptonese made her close her eyes for a few seconds.
"But you were dead" she bowed down her head, being confused.
"It's a little complicated" her mom answered while embracing her tightly. "You should rest, baby girl" it was just a whisper, but she knew that her mother wasn't going to explain her what had actually happened.
"I've missed you" she admitted, staring back into her eyes.
"I've missed you, too" her mom told her while caressing her hair. "We'll talk tomorrow, okay?" the woman said.
"Do you think Kara will find us?" she asked, hoping for that to happen.
"We don't need her to find us, we can leave whenever we want" Astra answered, to what she frowned.
"Then why aren't we leaving?" she questioned her, wanting to leave.
"Um... I'm helping Mr. Luthor with a project" her mom told her.
"But..." She wanted to complain, that man was evil.
"That's why he's been taking care of you" those words made her frown kind of angrily.
"Right" she sighed as she remembered that she couldn't say anything about it if she didn't want Kara to get hurt by Lex.
She just closed her eyes while resting her head back in her mom's chest, just hoping for all of that to end soon.
Hi!
So I thought that since it was a new Earth, I was going to change the events of how they find out Astra was alive.
In the next chapter it will be explained a little bit more how is that she ended up working with Lex and how he has found her.
Thanks so much for reading, let me know what you think,
Ayrin
