HALLEY'S P.O.V

"Everything was dark around her when she opened her eyes, looking around her as she tried to recognize that place, but frowning slightly when she finally realized that she was standing in the Phantom Zone. However, she was not sure of how she had gotten there since it was impossible.

"Not… again, please" she heard someone begging, which only got her to run toward that voice.

Her eyes opened wide when she saw the person that was lying behind a rock, tears clouding her vision as she tried to get closer, stopping when she saw the Phantoms that were there.

"Kara?" she called her, panicking when she didn't receive an answer. "Kara?!"

Her cousin's eyes were completely white as tears were streaming down her cheeks, still screaming and begging at the phantoms that were around her.

"Leave her alone!" she yelled, trying to get herself in front of Kara, to protect her from them.

However, they didn't seem to hear her, since they continued crowding around Kara, who was falling unconscious as she kept screaming, letting herself fall to her knees in tears, she needed to take her cousin out of there.

"Kara! Wake up" she shook Kara's shoulders as the Phantoms started to realize that she was also there. "We have to go! Please, wake up!" she tried again, but her cousin remained unconscious, so she embraced the hero's body as she started sobbing.

She looked around. They were surrounded, even more phantoms were approaching them alerted by her sobs, so she closed her eyes while hugging herself even tighter to Kara, not being able to avoid screaming when she felt them trying to grab her by her arms."

"It's a nightmare, kiddo, you're safe" she woke up being embraced by Alex, pulling away as she looked for her cousin. "It's okay, Halley" the woman whispered when she pushed her away, still confused about what had just happened.

"Kara…" she murmured the name, not being able to avoid the tears that were threatening to escape her eyes.

"It was just a dream, sweetie" Alex brushed her brown hair away from her face as she shook her head, it had felt so real.

"I saw her" she told her. "I saw Kara in the Phantom Zone… They were haunting her" she tried to explain, trying really hard to remember every single detail, so they could find her cousin.

Alex stared at her as she explained the dream, the woman frowning slightly, being able to find tears in her eyes as well, but deep down she was not sure if her cousin's sister was fully believing what she was saying or was still thinking everything had been a dream.

"You have to believe me" she felt desperate.

"How do we know it wasn't a dream?" the woman asked her, to which she just shrugged. "Kiddo, I know you really wish it was true, I do too, but I think it was just a nightmare because of everything you've been hearing these past days" Alex pointed out as she sighed, knowing that it was a possibility. "If you have more dreams like this one, we'll try to figure out if it's real" those words got her to nod, only hoping for them to find a way to bring Kara back.

Her eyes barely met Nia's as the young woman was trying to get her to choose something for breakfast, but she wasn't hungry, at least not that much, so she refused to answer.

"Sweetie, you have to eat something" Nia sat down in front of her, but she shook her head. "Come on, anything you want" the reporter said as she looked away, not answering. "Um, donuts, cookies, sticky buns… Chocolate cake? Maybe it's too early for that" the cake had managed to get her attention. "Or not? You want that?"

She nodded slightly to the question, seeing how Nia smiled widely before asking her to wait at the table, which she did, resting her head on her arms.

It had been days since she had been dreaming about her cousin in the Phantom Zone, the dreams were short, but intense. She had been able to see how Kara screamed while begging to the phantoms to leave her alone until the hero fell unconscious.

Every time she had been there, just sitting by Kara's side, holding her hand while trying her best to remain in complete silence so they would not notice her. However, she was not sure her cousin even knew she was there as she had heard her repeat every name of her family and friends as if the superhero was afraid of forgetting them.

"Okay, here you go" Nia said, getting her to look up.

"Thanks" she tried to smile, the reporter observing her quietly for a few seconds.

"Are you okay?" the young woman asked her, to which she nodded. "I don't know how or when, but I promise you that we're bringing Kara back" Nia assured her.

There was a possibility that they would be able to open a portal to the Phantom Zone that day and she was excited, but scared at the same time, since opening it did not mean they would be able to find Kara.

She ate the piece of cake quietly, barely answering Nia's questions as her mind was still thinking about the last dream, the one she had not told Alex yet and that meant that her cousin was not alone in the Phantom Zone, since Zor-El had survived Krypton's explosion.

"Hey, girls" she looked up to see William approaching them. "Hi, kiddo" he smiled, barely getting her to smile while accepting the hug. "Isn't a little too early for chocolate cake?"

"It was the only thing she wanted to eat" Nia answered while ruffling her hair.

"How are things going?" William asked as she looked away.

"Still working" the young woman said. "There's a chance that we might be getting her back today, but it's not going to be easy" Nia explained, sounding a little bit upset.

"We have to hope that everything we'll go alright" he pointed out. "I'm sure she knows that you're looking for her" William said as she could not avoid the tears to be contained in her eyes, not being so sure about his words, trying hard to hide the fact that she was about to cry.

However, the moment Nia realized that she was crying, she got up to run outside, not even stopping when she heard the woman calling her because she continued walking, until she wasn't sure of where to go.

She sat down on a bench as she tried to control her sobs, being aware that Nia had just sat down next to her, so she did not resist when the reporter pulled her into a hug, which only got her to keep crying.

"What's wrong?" Nia asked her, gently stroking her hair, but she remained in silence, slowly calming down.

"Sorry" she whispered, knowing that she shouldn't have ran away.

"It's okay, sweetie" Nia smiled at her. "Are you feeling better?" the woman questioned her, so she nodded slightly. "What if we do some crafts for your cousin just in case she's back today. I'm sure she'll like it "

"Yes" she smiled excitedly, hoping for her cousin to be back that day.

Alex had told her to wait downstairs since they all agreed that it was dangerous for her to be there when they would open the portal.

She dropped the marker she was drawing with the moment she heard loud noises and screams, something was not going as they had expected. So disobeying Alex, she got herself in the elevator, not being prepared for what she was going to see.

There were phantoms all over the Tower, every hero fighting against them, trying to send them back to the Phantom Zone.

"Halley!" she heard Mon-El scream, not having time to react when a phantom grabbed her, trying to take her near the portal.

Mon-El managed to get to her before they would have been able to go through the portal, attacking the phantom, who released her shortly before her best friend picked her up to take her away from there.

"Are you okay?" he asked as soon as they were somewhere a little bit safer, getting her to nod still shaking. "It's okay, kiddo, you're safe" Mon-El kissed her forehead before embracing her tightly.

She rested her head on his shoulder, watching with concern how the rest was fighting the phantoms until there was none left, moment at which the portal was closed.

"Is she okay?" Alex approached them.

"Just a little scared" Mon-El answered, seeing how her cousin's sister nodded. "That phantom wanted to take her" he pointed out.

"I know" Alex sighed. "It's because of her dreams" the woman explained, observing how the daxamite frowned slightly.

"What do you mean?" he asked, looking at her while waiting for an answer.

"She's been dreaming with Kara in the Phantom Zone" the former DEO's director answered. "At first I thought they were just dreams, but they're not, although we're not sure if Kara is aware of Halley being there" Alex told him.

"So you know where Kara is?" Mon-El questioned her, to what she shrugged. "Is she okay?"

"She was awake the last time I saw her" she whispered, Alex eyed widening as such information. "She's not alone, her dad is with her" she added.

"Zor-El survived?" Alex looked at her surprised. "We need to know how this is happening" the woman said.

"She's not coming back today, is she?" she asked them, seeing how their faces changed as they shook their heads.

Alex stared at her with sadness, being able to find tears in her eyes as she sighed while snuggling closer to Mon-El.

Once again, they didn't have anything. Kara was still stuck at the Phantom Zone and she could tell that there was no knowing of how to continue, or how to bring her back.

"Could there be a way of her projecting us to the Phantom Zone as Kara did with Juru's Valley?" her best friend commented.

"No" her cousin's sister shook her head. "She's just a kid" Alex told him, getting her to frown.

"But if I could do it, you would know where she is and rescue her" she debated.

"Hal, kiddo, even if you were able to do it, we wouldn't know exactly where she is" Alex said, gently brushing her dark hair away from her face.

"We can get maps from Argo" she was not going to give up, at least, not easily.

"The Phantom Zone is fractured, the maps wouldn't help, sweetie" the woman told her as she looked away. "All Kara would want is for you to be safe and doing that isn't, Halley"

She nodded slightly, knowing that there was no way she would be able to convince Alex to let her help, that the woman would try her best to keep her safe while her sister was away.

"We'll figure something else, kiddo" Mon-El said, trying to cheer her up.

However, she felt completely hopeless. The only thing she wanted at that moment was for Kara to be back and she would not stop trying for them to let her help find her cousin.

Hi!

It's a short chapter, but I preferred to divide it in two different ones, since in the next part will involve a little bit more about Lex, of course Lena, and maybe a little explanation of how Halley managed to escape to the future. Also, it will explore more about Halley's dreams or ability to see Kara in the Phantom Zone.

So, I'm thinking that it may be two more chapters and then I'll go back to Teen Halley's fic until Supergirl returns.

Thanks so much for reading, let me know what you think,

Ayrin.
