Later that afternoon, Cat sat with Alec while he uploaded her written music into the specialist program he had created. She sat nibbling on her thumbnail as she watched her handwriting alter to match Grace Pearl's. When it was done, she hugged the tech enthusiastically. It truly did look like Grace had written them and not her. She backed a bit when she saw Parker glare at her, only realising that there was something there between the blonde and the hacker. She held up her hand "easy killer ….just giving him a hug." She moved closer to Eliot as she went back to talking to Hardison about what the software could do. She was surprised that Hardison himself had created it. She hoped this worked
A few hours later the door opened and the mastermind walked into the room. No one had any idea what he had been doing and she sure wasn't going to ask. "Hey, Mr Ford, who's going to sing these?" Cat asked when the conman entered the room carrying a round of coffee and a large cake box filled with doughnuts and pastries.
"No-one. We're selling the music rights," Nate replied as he handed Eliot one of the takeaway cups. He set the rest of it on the bar near everyone.
Catherine frowned. "Wait … selling the rights, but it's not Grace Pearl's work. It's mine." She looked at Eliot. "And anyone who did have any of Grace's stuff would have to pay a lot of money to get it."
Nate grinned. "Exactly." He sat down on one of the barstools. "And do you think the studio has that kind of money to spend?" He looked over at her with an evil grin as he took a sip of his coffee.
Catherine sat there thinking about it for a bit as she sipped her coffee. She knew that they had money but the kind of money to pay for such a well known artist's work, even a dead one, would be in the millions. She twitched her nose and shook her head. " kind of money they would have to get for Grace's Stuff would be in the millions. I don't know if they got that kind of money on hand.. " It dawned on her what they would really be doing, and her eyes widened to saucers; "you're going to bankrupt him!" She looked at Eliot in confusion. "If you bankrupt them, what's going to happen to all the singers that have contracts? What would happen to me…." She shook her head, "we'd be out on our asses …." She looked at Eliot. "I don't think I like this idea ….." She didn't have a say in the matter but suddenly thinking of the other artists there who would be directly affected by this gave her a pause.
Eliot shook his head "don't worry, we will figure something out and you don't have to worry about what happens to you we will get you out of this contract one way or another…" he tilted her head to look in his eyes "Trust me?"
"Yes…" She sighed as she thought over what they were going to do. She tried to wrap her mind around the whole thing but just decided not to as she knew they had it handled. He would never put her in a situation that would get her hurt. Add in Shelly into the equation she was lucky they allowed her to even do the songs for the con. They both were overprotective but she understood.
While Catherine contemplated what Nathan Ford had told her, the door opened to reveal Sophie with bags of clothing. She set the bags down by Catherine's seat a smile her face. She pulled out a bunch of clothes that she hoped would represent her as Grace Pearl's daughter They're definitely not something that Cat would ever be caught dead in. The two women sat together on the couch under Elliot's watchful eye as Catherine showed Sophie which outfit would be best for her to wear. It got her mind off what they were planning,
