So sorry for the super long wait!

Chapter 11

Jane sat on the edge of Davina's bed, swinging her feet as she tilted her head thoughtfully at the pictures that were spread all around the room.

Davina and Josh were spreading some on the floor, matching them up to form the larger face on the floor. All of the drawings were of the same, eerily beautiful face.

"Well anyone know who the mystery girl is yet?" Katherine asked, sweeping into the room with a bored expression.

"No, but Davina feels an evil presence." Josh spoke up.

"Oh, lovely. Another shining example of trouble. Jane, are you feeling unlucky yet?" She mocked and the girl scowled.

"Shut up, Katherine."

Katherine's presence in the house was a common argument amongst the siblings. Finn cared very little for her, but respected Elijah's decision. Rebekah wanted to kill her and throw her out, she made it abundantly clear that she detested the doppelganger and would list her reasons very loudly for anyone who was listening. Kol didn't much care for her either, so simply ignored her unless provoked. The two of them bickered like siblings and Elijah was usually the mediator. Klaus' views on Katherine were based solely on how Jane felt. If she were to become uncomfortable, he voiced quite clearly his plans to disembody her and scatter her limbs across the earth.

Davina ignored them and faced the drawings once more. "It's strange. It's like I should know her. Maybe she's a witch."

"She was."

They turned to see Elijah in the doorway to Davina's room, brow furrowed.

"Might I ask why you have been drawing Celeste Dubois?"

"Who is she, Elijah?" Jane asked curiously. "Do you know her?"

He looked pained for a second. "She was once my...lover." He avoided looking at Katherine who's face had the appearance of one smelling something dreadful.

Jane looked at him sadly. "Oh. What happened to her?"

"Nik killed her probably." Kol said from behind him. "He was always doing that."

"Guess that's karma for him when everyone's out to kill Jane." Katherine remarked and Jane sighed when Elijah had to restrain Kol from attacking her.

Davina and Josh just exchanged looks.

"Their ancestral magic anchors this city. There's never been one all powerful witch," Elijah was saying as he eyed the large drawing of Celeste. "Until Davina."

"So what's with the drawings?" Kol asked. "I mean she was quite pretty and all, but I don't get it."

"Apparently she's a portent of evil." Klaus remarked and the older Mikaelson frowned.

"Yes, perhaps she's mistaken in what she calls evil for power. Celeste was certainly very powerful in her day, but she's been dead for over 200 years."

"So, again," Their little brother drawled. "What's with the sketches?"

"Why does any witch do anything?" Klaus muttered.

Klaus looked up when Marcel entered his study.

"Jane should be safe now. I think she's invited some of the others in."

"If you're wanting her to invite all of our vampires, she won't." He commented, leaning back in his chair. "She was quite adamant about not inviting them all in."

The other vampire frowned. "They've sworn to protect her. She could at least invite more than she should. Especially after last night."

"You can try, mate. But you won't get your way and I do agree with her a little on the subject." He smirked and lifted his glass. "Best not to let every vagrant inside."

"Hey, those vagrants are my friends." Marcel snapped, eyes flashing. "And our loyal guys." He argued.

"Well, to be honest I don't feel safe with all of them going in and out all day." Jane spoke up, coming into the study as well. She appeared tired and was resting a hand on her baby bump. "I'd like to have some control about who comes in and out. I don't want anyone dangerous getting a way in. I have a baby to protect."

Marcel's eyes softened. "I guess I see you're point. Though my guys wouldn't harm you."

"If I knew for certain I could trust everyone I would let them all in." Jane murmured to him, putting a hand on his arm. Klaus smiled behind his glass of wine. She could be very convincing when she wanted to be. "You do understand, don't you? At least until all these threats are over. Think about Davina too."

"Yeah, all right." He nodded at her. "How are you? How'd you sleep?"

She shook her head "Not very well. Nightmares."

Marcel frowned in concern. "Sorry to hear that. Do you know if Davina is up yet? She's been sleeping in a lot the past few days."

"Yes, we were both up this morning putting those together." She nodded at the pictures. Marcel moved over to one, frowning.

"Who is she?"

"Celeste Dubois, a witch Elijah used to know. Davina's been drawing her."

"And apparently is something evil." Klaus added.

Marcel's eyebrows rose.

"Kol was knocking on Davina's door when I came down the hall."

Marcel rolled his eyes at Klaus. "Your brother is irritating as hell."

"You don't have to tell me." He snorted. Jane scowled at them.

"He's just being nice."

"And that, my love, is worrisome." He smiled at her and she huffed. Marcel snorted and left the room.

"I wish he didn't talk about me behind my back." She grumbled, coming around Klaus' desk. "It's not like I banned him from coming inside. Even though I really thought about it. Him and Diego." Klaus chuckled and motioned for her to come closer.

When she came within reach, he pushed his chair back, pulling her into his lap. Wrapping his arms around her, he kissed her head.

"He's just concerned, my love."

"Well, so am I."

Klaus stroked her stomach, smiling at the feeling of their child moving beneath his fingers.

"Three more months from today." Jane sighed. "I'm starting to feel like a whale."

He chuckled and nuzzled her ear. "You're nothing of the sort. You're very beautiful."

She sighed and leaned further against him.

"You didn't sleep very well last night." He said, frowning. "You kept waking up."

She shuddered and buried her face into Klaus' neck. "I kept having the same vision over and over."

Jane lifted the flowers gently, holding them up to her nose. They gave off a strange smell, sickly sweet, not the usual aroma of a flower. As she was about to put them down, when she felt a sharp sting on her finger.

"Ow." She hissed and frowned. She hadn't seen any thorns on them when she had picked them up. Then she gasped. The rose stems sprouted thorns all over and were cutting into her hands. Jane tried to drop them, but to her horror the stems wrapped around her wrists, digging the thorns in hard. Blood dripped down her hands and splashed the white roses, coloring them red.

"Get off me! Stop!" She cried, wincing in pain as the thorns dug deeper. "Get off me!"

Pain erupted in her head and she went to her knees, beginning to feel faint.

Suddenly the pain stopped, and Jane blinked several times before collapsing on the ground. The plants let go of her and returned to their natural state as if nothing had occurred. The rose petals dripped with blood, but there was no white left. They had been painted red with her blood.

Klaus frowned and held her close against him.

"What does it mean?"

"I don't know, sweetheart." He murmured and tilted her chin up. "But I'm not going to let anything happen to you. No one is going to hurt you, my love."

She leaned up and pecked him on the lips. Klaus tangled a hand in her hair, keeping her there when she attempted to pull away and kissing her again, deepening it. She sighed against his mouth and ran a hand up his chest, making him groan.

He thought about taking her back to bed, tiring her out, but a gagging noise gained his attention and displeasure.

"Gross. Did not want to see that."

They parted and turned to see Katherine in the doorway with a disgusted look on her face.

"Katerina, perhaps I could pluck the eyes from your head and then you wouldn't see at all." Klaus said sweetly and Jane bit her lip to keep from laughing. Katherine rolled her eyes.

"Please behave." Elijah murmured, giving both she and Klaus a look as he walked into the study.

"Davina says she's ready to do the spell on the compound. She'll just need Jane's blood."

"For what?" Klaus asked sharply, and Katherine noticed his arms holding Jane rather tightly in a protective, or possessive in Klaus' case, manner. The girl patted his arm.

"It's okay." Jane said to him. "Whatever she needs for the spell."

"It's to ensure that Jane and your unborn child are well protected here." Elijah assured him, when his brother made no move to release her. Klaus' jaw remained tight, not liking it one bit. Jane stroked his face with her fingers soothingly.

Though Katherine pretended to be disgusted, she was slightly jealous at the relationship Klaus and Jane had. The Original Hybrid obviously loved her immensely, more than he probably had ever loved anyone in his long life and it wasn't hard to see that Jane felt the same for him. She had thought she and Elijah would have been like them, only much better, however he seemed to still distance himself from her. It was infuriatingly unfair.

"Hey, whatever keeps her safe, right?" Jane murmured to him and Klaus sighed, nodding slowly.

"And you." He added and then gently got her to feet. "Let's get it over with."

"Don't be so dramatic." Jane teased and he shook his head at her.

"It's not being dramatic, my love. It's being cautious."

Finn glanced up from his book after hearing Jane groan. She had a hand on her forehead. Kol looked over too.

"Lovely, what's wrong?"

"Just a headache." She said squeezing her temples. "It's intense."

Finn didn't like the sound of her having a headache after giving blood to Davina.

"What has she done?" He frowned and Jane looked at him in confusion. "The witch."

"Davina didn't give me a headache, Finn." She replied, shaking her head. "It's just really hurting."

"Quite suddenly."

Kol scowled at Finn. "Yes, I'm sure Davina wants to give Jane migraines for funsies."

His elder brother scoffed at him. "How many times must we trust a witch and it backfire for you to finally get some sense, brother? You're taste in women is appalling."

Jane opened her mouth to stop the argument when Josh came flying into the sitting room.

"You've got to see this! Something's wrong with Davina!" He looked scared and Kol cast a look at Jane before leaving quickly. Finn followed at a slower pace.

"I'll be fine. It's just a headache." She told him. "Go see about Davina."

When they arrived, they were surprised to see Davina kneeling on her bed, coughing and bending over slightly. To their shock she was coughing up dirt. Kol went and pulled her hair back from her face, frowning.

Marcel pushed his way into the room.

"Dee? What's happening?" He asked.

She couldn't answer, holding her throat as she continued to choke on dirt.

"What's wrong with her?"

"Don't know." Josh said, eyes comically wide. "She just started coughing and then...that." he pointed at the dirt pile on her bed. before anyone could react the entire city began to shake.

"Bloody hell!" Kol shouted and everyone had to find something to hold onto.

The entire compound vibrated with pulses of earthshaking energy and Jane stumbled out of the sitting room before Klaus caught her, pulling her against him protectively.

"Must be Davina." She said to him and he frowned slightly, cradling her against his body to keep her from falling from the shaking.

Rebekah gripped the railing of the staircase to keep from sliding and her eyes landed on them.

"What in the bloody hell is going on?" The blonde Original demanded.

Sage frowned, standing on the steps below her. "Who started the earthquake?"

"It's Davina." Kol said, coming to join them. He had left her in Marcel's care.

"Ow." Jane winced and buried her face into Klaus' chest.

"Love? What's wrong?" He asked slowly, looking her over intently.

"My head hurts so bad..." She moaned and, without warning, went limp in his arms in a dead faint.

"Jane!"

He adjusted her in his arms, cradling her against his chest.

"What happened to her?" Finn asked, going to Sage's side.

Klaus shook his head before cupping the girl's face. "Jane." He called and tapped her cheek gently. The girl didn't respond, and he frowned at how cool she felt.

"Her nose is bleeding." Elijah frowned and handed Klaus a handkerchief from his pocket.

He took it with a nod of thanks and patted her nose with it. "My love?"

She moaned, stirring in his arms, and her eyes fluttered opened as she raised a hand to her forehead. Klaus' worried expression came into focus above her as she blinked tiredly.

"Klaus? What happened?" She croaked.

He stroked her cheek and she shut her eyes again as the sunlight hurt them.

"You tell me. You fainted, sweetheart."

"My head is spinning like a top." Jane muttered and quickly turned to her side. Dark colored dirt spewed from her mouth. Sage gaped and look at Finn who was frowning accusingly toward Davina's room.

"Bloody hell, sweets!" Rebekah cried and then looked at her brother. "What's happening to her?"

Kol frowned. "Same thing that's happening to Davina."

"Imagine that." Finn snapped and all eyes were on him. "And right after she took her blood." Kol scowled at him.

"For god's sake, Finn, do shut up. Davina wouldn't hurt Jane."

Klaus and Elijah exchanged looks and then Klaus carried her off. She laid limply against him, having no energy to try to move.

"Let's get you inside, my love."

"Want some more water, sweetheart? Or something else?"

"No." Jane shook her head. "I don't know what's wrong with me. I felt fine earlier."

"Before Davina." Marcel said and she nodded at him. "Did she link you to her accidently?"

"Well, I don't know..." Her hand shook and she almost dropped her glass, but Elijah caught it. "Oops, I'm sorry, I just feel so tired and I can't seem to move very much."

"There's nothing to be sorry for, Jane."

Klaus kissed her fingers. They were cold, like the rest of her and he swallowed back his concern at that. He could feel something was off with her, something unnaturally off.

"That's all right, my love. You need to rest now."

Jane curled back into Klaus' side, and he tucked the thick blanket back around her.

"This is madness." He muttered, stroking Jane's hair in hope of lulling her to sleep. Already she was getting comfortable and it wouldn't take long for her to close her eyes. "How can a sixteen-year-old witch shake the entire French Quarter?"

Marcel frowned, pacing. "I've seen her rock the church, but I've never seen anything like this." He glanced at Jane's pale face. "Has this ever happened to her?"

"She's vomited dirt before." Klaus said slowly.

Rebekah nodded. "But that caused by an ancient elemental that body jumped into her."

Marcel's eyes widened.

"Long story, mate." Kol smirked.

"Oh...And I'm guessing that's not the case this time, with Davina doing the same thing."

"She's got too much power that she cannot control." Elijah spoke up from the corner of the room. "That much we already knew, but why is it manifesting itself in such an aggressive manner? And why is it effecting Jane?" He was talking to himself now and started towards the door.

"Where are you going?" Klaus asked.

"This is witch business. Let's ask a witch." He replied simply.

Kol pushed off the wall. "I'm going too."

Jane winced, gripping Klaus' sleeve.

"Love?" He frowned, making Kol and Elijah pause in the doorway. "What's wrong?"

"Pain." She hissed through gritted teeth and clutched his sleeve until her knuckles turned white.

"Where?" He demanded anxiously, hands hovering to do something quickly if need be. "The baby?" She shook her head, moving to sit up slightly and grip at the couch. Everyone was watching her warily, afraid of what was happening.

"Me. Everywhere." She moaned, her head tilting back. "Waves of pain." After several minutes of tenseness, she relaxed and slumped into Klaus's chest.

"It's gone." She announced breathlessly, looking more exhausted than before. A thin sweat had broken out on her face, despite still feeling chilled. "It still, but it sure did hurt."

Elijah frowned. "All the more reason to ask Sophie what she knows." He and Kol left abruptly.

"Try to sleep, my love." Klaus murmured down at Jane as she pressed her face into his arm. "I'm right here. Sleep."

"Okay." She murmured, already drifting off and he smiled grimly, continuing to stroke her hair.

It wasn't long before she was breathing evenly, fast asleep from fatigue.

Rebekah and Sage went to see to Davina, leaving Marcel and Finn in the room with Jane and Klaus.

"So...there was something in her?" Marcel asked and Klaus glanced at him.

"Yes. It started when she died...for the second time."

"Wasn't that your fault as well?" Finn frowned and Klaus rolled his eyes at the accusing looks he was given.

"She died?" Marcel gaped, looking at the sleeping girl.

Klaus glared at Finn, but spoke to Marcel. "Yes, she's died three times. The first time was completely accidental."

The older Mikaelson snorted. "Lies. You put her in that ritual, Niklaus. That was your fault. You left her completely at the mercy of the magic that your witch put on her."

"Yes, anyway," he said through gritted teeth. Finn was always dreary. "The second time was the Bennett witch's fault. She let Jane put herself into harm's way."

"Oh, yes now I recall that. Again, that was your fault for letting her think you were dead."

"Well, I wasn't responsible for the last time. Kol was." Klaus hissed.

"Only because neither one of you were paying her any attention."

Marcel was amused at the brothers bickering and how quickly Finn irritated Klaus. He did worry about the amount of times that Jane had died, however. It wasn't natural.

"The second time she died, though brief, was enough for an elemental spirit to enter her body when she came back to life." Klaus continued, still giving Finn a side-eye glare. He continued the story to Marcel, explaining Jane's newfound abilities from the incident and the occasional takeover from Ada.

"Damn." Marcel said when he finished. "Girl hasn't had an easy life has she?"

"No." Klaus murmured, draining the last of his bourbon glass. "No, she hasn't."

Finn frowned when Jane shifted in her sleep during Klaus' story, her face no longer peaceful.

"Niklaus." He said softly and his brother looked from him to her.

Jane could only watch as her blood dripped into the stone bowl next to her. Her wrist was bleeding out slowly now.

"Please, don't." She said, glancing up at the man who had his back to her. "Don't do this."

"I've waited too long to stop now." He turned to face her, no longer in shadow. It was Laurent. "This spell is bigger than I thought. More complicated." He moved closer to her and she flinched back as he held up his knife. "I need more blood."

"No, please! I can't give anymore!" She thrashed against her bonds, trying to get away. "My baby...you'll kill her."

"Good riddance to it." He said maliciously and Jane gasped, tears stinging her eyes. "It was never about the baby, Jane. It was you and your precious blood."

"No, stop!" She screamed as he cut into her other wrist. She could only watch her blood flowing out. "Klaus!"

Klaus glanced down at Jane when she screamed and thrashed in his arms. Marcel and Finn both stared at her in shock.

"Jane? It's all right, love." He said, holding her against. "Wake up, sweetheart."

"No, stop!" She screamed, still fighting him. "Klaus!"

"I'm here, my love." He said, holding her face in his hands. "I'm right here. Open your eyes, Jane."

Her eyes flew open and she sucked in air frantically. Once her eyes landed on him, tears leaked down her cheeks. He drew her in against his chest as she sobbed.

"Easy, sweetheart. I've got you." He said, stroking her hair. Suddenly she pushed at him and he turned her as she vomited dirt into the wastebasket.

Marcel handed her a glass of water to wash her mouth with and she thanked him quietly.

Klaus cupped her cheek. "What did you see?" She started to deny it, but he shook his head. "It was a vision."

Shakily, the words tumbled out of her and when she finished, she buried her face into his chest with a shiver. Klaus scowled and drew her closer to him, tucking her back in the thick blanket. Marcel and Finn looked as troubled as Klaus did.

"That won't happen, love. I won't let him near you." He assured her, brushing her hair from her face.

Elijah was back with Kol, Sophie in tow. The witch arched an eyebrow at them before glancing at Jane's pale features.

"So...what?"

"Who told you how to find Celeste's remains?" Elijah questioned sternly. Sophie sighed.

"We have ways of getting information." She replied quickly. "The how isn't important." The Original narrowed his eyes. He'd find out later.

"Davina's been drawing this person for months." Kol spoke up after laying dozens of drawings on the ground. Rebekah came back into the room too, helping him with the drawings. Sage was trying to calm down Davina.

Sophie frowned. "I didn't even know who Celeste Dubois was until I-"

Davina suddenly gave a wail and the house shook, more furniture and glass objects breaking somewhere in the building.

Sophie gasped. "Was that Davina?"

Seconds later Jane cried out, wincing in pain and clutching at Klaus' arm. This wave of earthshaking was more intense than the last and Rebekah looked worriedly at Jane as Klaus tried to soothe her to the best of his ability. Being so connected to her as he was, he was starting to feel a prick of pain every time it happened to her.

"It's gone again."

Sophie turned around. "Jane too?"

Elijah nodded. "Yes. Whatever is ailing Davina is harming Jane as well."

"So, the earthquake I felt today?"

"That was Davina, but every time something causes pain in Jane."

"They've both taken to vomiting dirt as well." Rebekah added as Jane promptly did just that after Kol toed the waste basket over to her.

Sophie grimaced. "We have a huge problem."

The girl looked pale and sickly and was clinging to Klaus weakly as she leaned back up from the waste basket.

"I'm sorry." She uttered lowly.

"Hush, love." He murmured wrapped her tighter in the blanket.

Sophie was glancing at her with a worried expression.

"I thought we had more time, but we need to complete the Harvest now."

"Said the desperate witch conveniently." Klaus muttered.

"I'm serious." Sophie scowled. "That earthquake you just felt-Was just a preview of the disaster movie about to hit us."

"Why should we believe you?" Elijah frowned.

"You've met Davina, you know her story, for months now she's been holding all the power of the three girls sacrificed in the Harvest Ritual. A power that was meant to flow through her and back into the earth. One person was never meant to hold that much power. It's tearing her apart and it will take us all down with it."

"And how is this power effecting Jane?" Finn asked, folding his arms across his chest.

Sophie frowned. "Well, Jane is an elemental. Davina is manifesting the elements. So, she's feeling that tenfold."

"Here it comes again." Jane winced as another painful spasm wracked her body. Klaus frowned, wanting to soothe her, but had no idea of how to do so. "Sophie?" She asked when it was over. "What about my baby?" She murmured, leaning against her Hybrid and his arms tightened around her protectively.

"If its effecting the baby then you know it's part elemental." Sophie shifted uncomfortably with the prospect of Jane going into early labor or worse.

"Can you tell?" Jane asked, biting at her lip. "If...if she's like me? I don't want her hurt."

The witch nodded. "Yes, I should be able to feel a pull if the baby is part elemental." She came closer and held her hands out. "May I?"

Jane nodded and Sophie placed her hands on the baby bump. She concentrated for a moment gasped, jerking her hands off.

"What the hell was that?" She looked up at them.

Klaus frowned. "What was what?" He snapped. "What is it?"

"That was surprisingly strong." Sophie's eyebrows rose before she put her hand back on Jane.

"Oh, wow. The energy that I just felt was Jane protecting the baby."

"Me?" The girl repeated curiously.

"Yes. Your body is defending her. I'm sensing a lot of witch and not a lot of elemental. Of course, she will have a bit because of biological circumstances, but not enough to hinder her. She's just fine."

She sighed with relief. "Oh, good. So, it's just me. What's hurting me is not hurting her."

"Yeah."

Jane nodded and stroked her stomach, teary-eyed. "Good. I don't want my baby hurt."

"I don't want you hurt either, love." Klaus responded.

"Even if she was more elemental, she's not feeling what you are. She's protected. And you'll continue to protect her...until you can't."

"You mean until I die." Jane said slowly.

"Don't say that, my love." Klaus scolded her.

The girl sighed. "Klaus-"

"No." He said sharply.

"Could this kill Jane?" Marcel asked the question they had been dreading. A tense silence filled the room and the witch in front of them shifted.

"It might." Sophie said quietly, meeting Klaus' eyes. "If it gets much worse. Because right now she's feeling a magical pull from every direction which will worsen as Davina's symptoms progress." Sophie sighed. "It's already taking a toll on her."

Jane chewed her lip worriedly and leaned further against Klaus who pressed his lips to her head.

Jane went to look for Klaus. She was feeling a little better, but knew it was only from Davina being sedated. That made her feel extremely guilty.

"What are you doing?" Katherine asked, rolling her eyes from the doorway. "You're not supposed to be wandering around. You have a baby to be thinking about, so get back to bed, you idiot."

Though curious at her words about her baby, she scowled at the vampire. "I'm feeling okay for now, but only because Rebekah sedated her."

"Uh, hello, you were in pain. Would you rather her scream and blow us all away?"

"Well, no, but-"

"I thought you'd be smarter and stop obsessing over saving everyone. You should be more concerned about you and your baby."

"I am concerned about my baby, Katherine. But I am also worried about Davina." Jane turned from her and headed for the staircase that lead into the lower level of the compound. Elijah and Klaus were picking up furniture that had fallen over from Davina's wind blowing.

"We've sedated her too heavily." The older Mikaelson was saying.

"If this is her sedated, I'd hate to see otherwise." His brother replied, picking up a chair and setting it upright. "We all agreed that Davina must be sacrificed. There's no need to let her blow the roof off our heads in the meantime."

"No, you're not touching her!" Marcel shouted from the railing overhead and he leapt down. Once his feet hit the ground, he threw a punch at his sire's face and Klaus growled at the impact of his fist.

"Ok. I'll let you have that one." He mocked, rubbing at his nose. Elijah put a handout to stop Marcel from flying at Klaus again.

"Klaus!" Jane said sharply from the staircase drawing their attention.

"What are you doing out of bed?" Klaus demanded, frowning at her. "You're supposed to be resting."

"And we are supposed to protect Davina. Not send her to her death, Niklaus."

Elijah sighed. "Jane, it's not that we wish Davina to be harmed," He glanced at Marcel as well. "-but there is no scenario in which we wait this out. For your own safety as well as your unborn child's, Davina has to die."

"No, that's not fair!" Jane protested.

"Jane, love." Klaus said patiently as he moved over to her. "Your fate and our child's depend on Davina's sacrifice. I know you've grown rather fond of the little witch, but we've been reassured she'll come back to life."

"You don't know that! Sophie could just be telling us that for her own gain!" Jane reached the bottom step with difficulty and Klaus kept her from moving any further, worried she had overtired herself. Unshed tears shimmered in her eyes as she gazed at him.

Marcel nodded in agreement. "She's right. Sophie's screwed over everyone here."

Elijah shook his head. "The Harvest was working before it was stopped. If a non-believer like Sophie Deveraux can come to have faith that these girls will be resurrected, then, I also, am a believer."

"Please, don't let them hurt her." Jane pleaded with Klaus. A small but strong breeze was stirring within the compound. Elijah realized it was coming from Jane who was getting upset, her hair was blowing lightly in the wind. "We can't. Don't you care?"

He cupped her face. "It's not a matter of caring, my love. If I could find a solution that ensures Davina's and your wellbeing, I'd be all for it. But there is only one solution."

"I saved her from the Harvest and now you want me to just hand her over?" Marcel snapped. Klaus took a breath and turned from Jane to frown at him.

"Do I think that I'm happy about this?" He growled back. "If the witches complete the Harvest, they will regain their power and we will not have an ally in Davina. On the other hand, my beloved and our child will die, and I will not allow that to happen. Look at her."

Marcel met Jane's eyes briefly before he looked away again.

"She's dying Marcellus. And my child will die along with her if this is not finished. Are you willing to face my wrath should that happen?"

"That's not fair to put him on the spot like that." Jane frowned. "He loves Davina and has taken care of her all this time. You are making him choose between the family he made for himself and the one we've offered him like it's easy. We're not even remotely close to being a united family at this point. All of the deception, the lying, the manipulation, and the passive-aggressiveness between everyone are big issues. This is not going to end well for anyone if we can't even talk about those things."

Marcel swallowed at her words and felt the impact of them. She thought of Davina as family too, even if she hadn't known her for a long time and the same of himself. He didn't want Jane to die either and it was a cruel dilemma.

Klaus took her arms, looking at her with a serious expression. "I will not lose you or our child. Not for a witch."

"But-"

"The earthquake and you vomiting dirt I was willing to chalk up to hideous coincidence, but these winds?" He shook his head, stroking her cheek with the back of his fingers. "I'm sorry, love. I truly am, but I will not allow you and our child to be harmed." He kissed her forehead and turned her around. "Now, please get back into bed. You're clearly exhausted."

He was done with the conversation and of her trying to turn it into a "Davina or me" situation which it most definitely was not. There was no debate as to whom he would choose. She would see in the end that it was for the best.

Jane let him turn her and usher her back to bed, but she wasn't convinced that this was a good move. She had her doubts about the whole thing and a feeling of dread prickled her skin. If Davina died...would the protection spell over the compound be broken? And if so...could a newly powerful witch find their way inside? Namely...Laurent or even a witch helping Tristan who she still had no desire to meet. She wasn't sure what to do, but she knew that she didn't want Davina to be killed.

Rebekah paused in the doorway to Sophie's bar as voices drifted over to her.

"You didn't say anything about it hurting Jane, Sophie!"

"It wasn't supposed to get to this point!" The witch snapped back. "Damn it, Dorian. I don't like it either. If that baby or Jane, specifically Jane, dies then Klaus will literally slaughter everyone in sight. An angry Original is one thing, but an angry Original Hybrid is something else entirely and I for one don't want to see that because even with our magic, he'll find a way to end us all."

Rebekah entered the bar and Dorian whipped around.

"Am I to assume that you are the reason Sophie got a hold of Elijah's ex's remains?" She asked and the Hybrid nodded guiltily. "Be glad I know and not Elijah. Then you'd have two Originals angry with you and I doubt even Jane could save you."

"Why are you here?" Sophie asked her.

"An alliance."

"Marcel."

He turned to see Jane as she gestured for him to come closer.

"Get her out of here before they do something." She begged him, meeting his eyes. "Please."

"What about Klaus?" He frowned. He was all for it, but knew that Klaus wouldn't just let him go. Especially after pointing out that Jane and his baby could die.

"I'll keep him busy. You have to get her out."

"Jane, I...I don't want you to-"

"It's all right. I know you care about her. Get her somewhere safe, okay? There has to be another way, we just have to find it in time." She looked so earnest that he could not deny her. She wanted to save Davina too.

Jane's appearance was worrying though and he faltered in the doorway. She was swaying on her feet, dark circles under her eyes, and was shivering despite being wrapped in a thick blanket. She was dying.

"Jane-"

"If there's a way, we'll find it." She said softly, smiling at him. "I'll distract him."

"Please, my love." Klaus cupped her chin. "Try to sleep it off."

"No!" She screamed.

Marcel turned around wide eyed as a strong gust of wind burst open the windows and papers flew off of the tabletops.

"Love, calm down." Klaus said, trying to hold her still, but she was pushing at his arms.

"No, I won't!" She yelled at him. The more she fought him, the more wind was blowing into the room. Chairs and small furniture were being tossed around as well.

"Calm down, sweetheart! I just want you to rest!" He yelled back over the wind. She was being too irrational.

She looked at him, crying once more, and he saw what was making her more upset. Her eyes flickered black and he moved swiftly to hold her against his chest, soothing her with little noises. Jane looked at Marcel over Klaus' shoulder her eyes returning to normal for a few seconds.

Go, She mouthed to him and he blinked.

What a performance.

"There, there, love. It's all right." Klaus soothed.

"Make it stop." She whispered. The wind wasn't dying down however and Marcel took the opportunity to slip from the room.

Thunder rumbled, shaking the windows and Jane moaned, her head falling back onto Klaus' chest.

"It's getting worse." She said tiredly. Her distraction for Marcel earlier had taken a toll on her and she was feeling the elemental effects even more. She was shivering underneath the two thick blankets.

He stroked her hair back from her face, frowning deeply.

"We can't find them." Kol scowled. "Bloody Marcellus has taken off with Davina."

"Keep looking. It's imperative we find them now." He started to move, but Jane whined, gripping his shirt.

"No, no, please don't go." Jane begged and Klaus gently pried her shaking fingers loose from his henley. "Please, stay."

"I'll be back, my love." He soothed, frowning nervously at her. "Just stay right here and wait for me." She was shaking her head anxiously.

"Love, it's all right." He kissed her head. "I'll be right back."

Jane watched him leave and Finn came into the room.

"Finn, are you busy?"

"No, is there something you need?"

"The...werewolves in the bayou. They don't have shelter like we do. They need help."

While Finn was growing accustomed to being a vampire with the help of Sage, he still didn't like hearing about werewolves and shared his family's loathing of them. The look on Jane's face however, showed that she knew that, but asked his for help anyway.

He sighed. There was no denying her. "What do you want me to do, love?"

"Klaus...he got Father Kieran to help them. We have enough food."

"Niklaus didn't exactly forsake them, did he?" He guessed.

She shook her head. "Please, Finn. We have plenty to share."

"All right." He nodded. "But you rest, while I'm gone."

"I'll try, but its coming back." Already the rain was starting outside. Sage took his spot when he got up and stroked Jane's hair.

"You let them leave, didn't you?" She asked quietly and Jane nodded.

"Has to be...another way..." The girl slurred and gasped in pain. Her eyes fluttered shut as she settled back into bed.

"Jane?" Sage felt the girl's forehead and cursed. "Katherine, be useful and bring me a wet cloth and a bowl of water. Jane's got a fever."

"We're vampires, Elijah. We can't practice magic or own property for that matter." Rebekah rolled her eyes.

"But there is a living descendent." He prompted and Klaus glanced up.

"The baby."

"The baby." Elijah nodded in agreement. "Which is why I've taken the liberty of putting the plantation in Jane's name." He took the deed from his filing cabinet and handed it to Klaus.

"So, if we bury our mother there and we consecrate those grounds, we can finish the Harvest ritual."

Klaus smirked. "You're a bit of a mad genius, Elijah."

"Sorry to interrupt." Sage said, coming into the parlor. "Klaus, Jane's running a very high fever. Whatever you are going to do, do it quickly." He sat up, frowning, and she held up a hand. "She's stable for now, but she's been vomiting water. Katherine's keeping her from drowning. She can't go on like this."

Elijah glanced at his siblings. "Finn, Kol, Rebekah? The vote must be unanimous. We are family."

"I still think it's a bad idea." The elder Mikaelson said, frowning.

"Of course, it is. But what else is there, Finn?" Kol scowled. "I'm for it, even if it means trouble later on. We don't have a choice."

"Kill a demon today, face the devil tomorrow." Their sister quoted and both glanced at her. Klaus was smirking at her words.

"Fine." Finn conceded, "But mark my words. Nothing good is going to come out of our mother being buried here."

"I agree, but we'll face that later. Jane and our niece are most important right now." Rebekah pointed out.

"Well, it wouldn't be a family reunion without our mother. Shall I go and fetch her?" Klaus grinned maliciously and Kol rolled his eyes.

"No, Finn and I will go. You tend to Jane." His expression softened. "You'll have to wake her anyway."

"And she knows where Marcel took Davina." Sage added quietly. Klaus heaved a sigh.

"Jane, love." He murmured, stroking her hair, and trying to wake her gently. "We have to go now." She had barely stirred when he put a raincoat and shoes on her, but now she was frowning lightly.

"No, I'm too tired." She swatted at him, but Klaus started to scoop her up into his arms anyway. "I don't want to go." She whined, sounding on the verge of tears.

"Sleep, my love. It'll be all right."

The walls shook and Klaus hesitated. Katherine's eyes widened as the windows to the bedroom burst open, rain and wind flying into the room.

"I don't want to go!" She wailed loudly and he had to set her back down to get the windows shut back against her power. Katherine scowled.

"Jane, he's trying to help you and the baby. They have to do the Harvest."

"No." She croaked, shaking her head.

"Jane, it's going to cause you to lose the baby, you idiot."

Klaus growled at Katherine, but she paid him no mind as he sat back on the bed, gathering the girl in his arms. "They have to do it. Because if they don't, your baby will die. Do you hear me? This is stressing your body and you could go into early labor. She won't live and I know you're smarter than this."

Jane looked away from her and buried her face into Klaus' shoulder.

"Love, where is she?" He asked, softly.

"Marcel took her to the docks." The girl sobbed and he rocked her gently.

Rebekah sighed from the doorway. "I'll go. He'll listen to me."

"I'm sorry." Jane said repeatedly, hands clenching his shirt.

"Shh, love. It's for the best." Klaus murmured against her head, she was sweating profusely, but at the same time the rest of her felt ice cold. "I'm going to help you feel better."

"By hurting Davina?" She croaked. "Please don't make me go." He picked her back up and she buried her heated face into his shoulder. Hot tears spilling down her cheeks. "Please don't make me go."

"I'm sorry, sweetheart, don't cry." He said gently, feeling guilty. "You'll feel better soon."

"No." She sobbed. "I don't want to go."

Jane buried her face into Klaus' chest. The rain was making her colder and exhausted. The entire Mikaelson family was out in the rain, staring down at the open grave of their mother. Father Kieran was over the proceedings and kept glancing at Jane.

"I hate this." She muttered and Klaus shushed her. "I hate it and I want to go home."

"In a while, my love." He soothed and glanced at his sister. "Did you find them? Will he bring her?"

"He'll bring her."

"Are you ready to do this?" Father Kieran asked and Klaus took out a dagger.

He held it against his left palm and looked at his siblings. "Always and Forever." He sliced into his hand and then handed it to his sister. Rebekah did the same, then Elijah, Kol, and Finn before the dagger was handed back to Klaus. He held Jane's hand in his and she watched him cut into her hand. Blood dripped onto the blade mixing with theirs and the blade was given to Kieran who tossed it into the grave.

"It is done." He said.

Jane shuddered and moved closer to Klaus under the umbrella.

"Don't like it." She whispered and the siblings exchanged looks. She groaned and Klaus moved to cradle her in his arms when her legs gave way. "Can't. I'm sorry." She said weakly and his brow furrowed worriedly.

"It's all right, sweetheart. Just rest now."

Jane looked at the young girls lying ceremonially on the platform. Each of them wore white dresses, their faces peaceful almost as if they were asleep, but Jane knew better. The red cut across their throats told a different story.

"She's coming." Jane said quietly and Sophie glanced up.

"Fire."

The others in the circle looked as well, seeing flames springing up from the ground. It was trailing behind someone. They saw the someone as he rounded the corner. It was Marcel and in his arms was Davina.

Jane gasped sharply and moved in Klaus' arms. The pain was unbearable.

"Klaus." She convulsed and went limp, too exhausted to do anything at all. Rebekah held her umbrella over her, shielding her from the rain.

Klaus glanced up to watch the proceedings, but kept a grip on her wrist, monitoring her heart rate. Her pulse was getting weaker and he was getting impatient to cure her.

Davina stepped onto the platform and Sophie warmed her dagger over the fire.

"Do you believe in the Harvest?" The older witch asked.

"I believe." She answered back.

With that, Sophie slit her throat.

Jane made a noise and buried her face into Klaus' chest and he stroked her hair. Davina fell back and Marcel caught her, looking down at her, distraught. The life went out of her in seconds and the rain and the fire both stopped instantaneously.

Klaus felt the change in Jane and set her on her feet. She was no longer sickly and pale, her fever gone. She was just wet from rain.

They watched as a glow came from Davina, going down her arm and then disappearing into the ground.

Marcel helped Sophie lay her next to the other girls and then stepped back.

"After the Harvest comes the Reaping. Their sacrifices made and accepted, we call upon our elders to resurrect your chosen ones." Sophie stated, her voice echoing in the cemetery. They waited...nothing happened.

Sophie frowned. "We call upon our elders to resurrect your chosen ones." She repeated.

"Sophie, what's happening?" Jane asked and the witch looked panicked.

"I-I don't know." She stated. "Resurrect your chosen ones!"

Nothing happened. Not one girl breathed, nor moved. They were still dead.

"Please. I beg." The witch whispered, looking at her niece, Monique. Sophie let out a sob and Jane buried her face into Klaus' chest again, tears falling. Why hadn't it worked?

She turned her head on Klaus' chest, looking over at Marcel. He was staring at Klaus with anger in his eyes. She felt when Klaus noticed the stare, because he stiffened beneath her. In a rush of wind, he was gone. She wiped her tears away and he turned her to go.

Marcel was throwing furniture left and right, kicking everything in sight.

"This is your fault!" He shouted at Klaus as they entered the compound. "I shouldn't have let her anywhere near her."

"Marcel."

"This city was fine before you came here! Davina was safe and in control. She is dead! Do you hear me?!" He snarled.

Klaus made to go to him, but Jane put a hand on his chest, shaking her head.

"Let me." She said quietly and walked over instead. Jane hugged him swiftly and tightly before he could move again. Slowly Marcel wrapped his arms around her, hugging her back as tightly as he could without hurting her. She rubbed his back gently as he sobbed, making soothing shushing sounds.

"Shh. I know it hurts. I know." She said softly. "I'm so sorry, Marcellus." He felt comforted by her and allowed her to keep stroking his back. Jane looked at Klaus holding out a hand toward him. He moved and hugged Marcel too.

"You may think I know nothing of your grief, but you are wrong." He said quietly. "In the days after I fled this city, I thought you were dead. It was years before I could speak your name, so keenly did I feel that loss."

Jane smiled sadly as they embraced again. "We have our differences, but you and Davina both are part of us. And we love you."

Marcel felt guilty for his thoughts about picking Davina over Jane, but she shook her head at him.

"You were protecting her."

She stood for a moment, thinking about Davina when something occurred to her.

"Um, I have a question."

They turned to look at her and she was frowning.

"If that magic didn't go to Sophie...where did it go?"

Marcel frowned. "What?"

"It doesn't make sense that it didn't work." Jane frowned, playing with the end of her hair. "Elijah said it earlier. Sophie was a nonbeliever, but then became one. So, it was working at some point and I saw that magical glow. Who got it then? It didn't just disappear. Someone played us."

Klaus and Marcel exchanged looks. She was right.

"And that brings another question. If the Harvest was supposed to bring back those girls...who did it bring back instead? I think we have another enemy."

"So it would seem." Klaus said, his brow furrowing. Marcel didn't look so angry at his sire anymore. There was someone else in play.

"But I believe she will come back, Marcel. I really do." She played with the gem on her necklace as she spoke. "I can't explain it, but I just feel it."

He nodded at her and she hugged him again. "Try to get some sleep, okay? We'll figure this out."

"Marcel and I shall. You are staying in the bed from now on." Klaus said lightly and she scowled.

"No, I'm not, Klaus. I'm the one who pointed it out to you guys." She protested.

He smiled. "Yes, well, it's been a long exhausting day and you are going to bed." He turned her towards the stairs, and she scowled. Marcel snorted as she continued to argue with Klaus the rest of the way up the stairs until he picked her up and she squealed in shock as he zipped them into their bedroom.

Rebekah touched his shoulder. "Want some company?"

He smiled softly.

"Sure. Thanks."

Klaus looked down at Jane who was pretending to be asleep.

"You're supposed to be sleeping, my love. You need rest." He scolded lightly and she opened her eyes.

"I just keep thinking about Davina." She stroked her stomach, frowning at the ceiling. "Someone tricked us Klaus, tricked Sophie. I mean her niece is still...dead? In limbo? And poor Marcel..." She turned to him. "You're going to have to be extra nice you know. He sacrificed a lot for us tonight."

"I will be nice, love." He said and then took her chin. "But you remember this, I'd sacrifice a hundred witches before I let anything befall you or our child. Always." He said the words with so much intensity in his eyes that she had to look away.

Jane kissed his jaw and then tucked her head under his chin. She sighed quietly against his chest.

"I love you too."

"Good. You're back." Katherine stood as Elijah entered the room. He raised an eyebrow at her presence in his bedroom. She was wearing a tempting little lacy slip with a matching robe.

"Katerina..." His fingers brushed the lace and she shivered.

"Damn it. This is going to ruin the moment, but I have to show you this." She muttered and pulled away from him. "After you left, this was delivered to the front gate." She tugged a box into view. "I got nosy and well...You have to see it. You'll probably have to wake Klaus."

Elijah frowned and went over to the box. Lifting the lid, he looked inside and then back up at her.

"Who left this?"

Katherine shook her head. "I don't know, but I'm pretty sure those are all drawings of elementals."
