Chapter 13

Kate had already dressed for the day, and Rick was just now getting dressed. Once down to the main floor, she saw Alexis sitting there, so she sat down next to her. "You look worried."

"I guess I am. I had sex with Corimin last night, and then something happened. I lost control over my illusion, and suddenly he saw me, the real me." A single tear ran down Alexis's cheek, and she reached up to wipe it away.

"Uh-Oh! How did it go? Did he freak out?" Kate was full of questions now. The big one was, did they have to pack up and run for it?

"Pretty much." Alexis thought it was kind of awful.

Kate knew she wasn't her mother, more like her friend. "Aw, sweetie. Do you need to talk to your father?" She had grown up talking to Castle. Maybe she should be talking to him instead.

But Alexis wanted to talk to Kate, not her dad. Not this time. "No, Dad would just freak out and have us packed up and out of here in seconds."

"All right, so we're not running for it. That's good. Then can I presume things got better?" Had Corimin come around and calmed down enough?

"Yeah, mostly. It wasn't easy." Alexis sighed. "Did you know he thought I wanted to suck out and eat his Soul? His Soul, Kate. All I wanted was his Cum and for him to love me."

"I suppose I can see his point. I'm lucky your father is already weird or I might not even be here. Ghosts, Vampires, Demons, Aliens. You name it, and Castle believes in it. I got off lucky. So what did Corimin do?" Since they didn't have to run for it…

"Besides freaking out big time?" She sighed again. "I think I reached him. I talked him into finding someone to cast Detect Evil on me when I wasn't looking. I even gave him all the gold pieces I had on me to pay for it. He did at least finally admit that he loved me. But only after I went back to looking like this."

Kate shook her head. "Judging a book by its cover."

"Exactly! He likes what he sees now, but not what he saw. Now, what do I do? I'm a little tired of finding what I need and not having any of them remember me. Sometimes, it makes me feel like a slut.

"I've never really hated what I am. But suddenly, things are different." She loved him, and he was close to rejecting her. All because he saw an Evil Demon that wanted to eat his Soul.

Kate put an arm around her and pulled Alexis close. "I suggest no more sex with him till he figures things out. Let him cast his spell. We all know you're not Evil, so that's no worry. Just don't stay too far away from him. He needs to keep seeing you like this, give him a chance to adjust. Hopefully, one day he won't mind seeing the other you.

"But I have a question. Did Corimin like your bigger boobs? Men are suckers for big boobs. Even your father. He's stuck with mine." Kate knew she didn't have big boobs and never would. She was a 35B. That was as good as it would get. At least she didn't have eighteen-pound bowling balls hanging on her chest, trying to break her back.

Finally, Alexis began smiling. He had also still had sex with her after he saw her. Yes, it was when she looked human instead of like a Succubus. But he hadn't run for it after she released him.

"That's what I thought. MEN! You can't shoot 'em even when they make you want to do just that." Kate finally had Alexis laughing, so that was good. "Let him cast his spell and keep talking to him. When he's ready, you'll know." Kate kissed her head.

"I need to use the printing press, and it's my turn today. We need enough merchandise and then some to fill that space by next Christmas. We need to make money. Thankfully, we have a lot, but we still need to be careful. If I leave it to your father, we might be broke." Kate was afraid they would be.

Alexis stood up for her dad and defended him. She was his daughter, and it was her job. "Dad can indulge himself occasionally, but he was rich and knew how to stay that way. I think you might be worrying for nothing. He isn't that bad."

"Perhaps, but I plan to be careful. Why don't you eat breakfast and come downstairs and help me? Or you can get Mops, and you two can go back to sewing. She doesn't have school today, and neither of us has lessons. Castle does, so he'll be gone most of the day.

"Maybe his spellcaster will spot you and cast a spell on you," Kate offered.

"Maybe. Come on, Patches, let's get Mops. We have a lot of sewing to do. We need to stop at the market and buy a lot more thread. That and more cloth. I think I'll take my backpack so I have someplace to put it all." Alexis got up and then leaned down to kiss Kate. "Thanks." Alexis knew her birth mother would have done nothing. Not unless it benefited her in some way. Kate was pretty great.

"You're welcome." Kate got up since she had a lot of work to do. She was going to end up with inky hands again. Too bad this place didn't have gloves she could wear like she wore at dead body sites. Life was very different here.

ϵө϶Ѫϵө϶

Martha was at the breakfast bar practicing her lines. She had actually gotten a very good offer for a wonderful part in a really good play. It just might be the break Martha needed. She still had a lot of money issues to resolve.

The buzzer of the door had her stopping and going to answer it. "JIM! Please, do come in." Martha was happy to see him. He had been a big help so far, and he hadn't taken up drinking after losing his daughter.

Jim had heard voices, but he didn't see anyone other than Martha. "Who were you talking to?"

"I was practicing my lines. You're just in time to help me. You can read the other lines for me." With Richard and Alexis still missing, she could use the help.

Jim handed her an envelope. "I mostly came over to give this to you."

Martha's heart skipped a beat and her hand shook as she took it but delayed opening it. "What is this?"

"The NYPD and the FBI deny that the three of them are involved in some undercover operation. Though, even if they were, they wouldn't tell us. Also, Rick won't be considered dead for at least another six years, and to keep his property from going into default, I was able to get a Court Order allowing you access to a limited amount of his money.

"The money Black Pawn gave you is gone, so you need this to help pay the bills. These are all the documents you'll need to convince the bank to allow you limited access to his account," Jim explained.

"OH, JIM!" Martha was ready to cry and decided not to stop the tears. Jim had turned out to be her very best friend. Without him, she might be living on the street. Richard's loft, cars, and the house in the Hamptons would already be gone – repossessed – to pay the bills.

"How can I ever thank you?" Martha hugged him tightly as only Martha could.

"If Katie had ever pulled her head out of her ass, she would have seen how much Rick meant to her, so to me, this makes us family. Who knows, when their undercover operation is over, we'll find them both married." Jim could only hope.

"Katherine was just being stubborn, and my son was being too cautious. And they really needed to learn how to talk to each other," Martha admitted. "Still, I wonder what they're doing? And how does my granddaughter fit into all this?"

"I'm still working on the theory of her being in the wrong place at the wrong time. So they were forced to include her. That, or Rick finally got his wish. Aliens swooped down, picked them all up, and took them to another planet." Jim smiled at her. That had Martha laughing since that could never happen.

"Will you stay for breakfast? I can order delivery for us. No one wants to see me cook, not even me." Martha knew she sucked at cooking. She had a few specialties that she was good at, but that was about it.

"That depends. What have you got in mind?" Jim asked since Martha had only just gained access to some of Rick's money. She didn't actually have the money. "Oh, and I'm buying."

"Take-out menus are in the top drawer. Just make sure it goes with wine. We're celebrating!" Then what Martha just said hit her. "I'm so sorry, Jim. I mean, order lots and lots of orange juice."

"It's okay, Martha. I get the meaning. Top drawer, you say?" Jim opened it and pulled out a shit load of menus. He knew Rick cooked, but this was a lot of menus.

He soon found out what Martha was like when she practiced her lines for a play and just what it took to help her. He was almost sorry he came. Baseball, Jim understood. Actors, he did not.

It had been almost a week, and Alexis couldn't be more depressed if she tried. She hadn't seen or heard from Corimin in all that time. She saw him a couple of times while training, and she was pretty sure he saw her. However, neither of them appeared to have the courage to go talk to the other.

Presently Alexis was moping on her bed with Patches at her side. He was trying to get her up so she would play with him, but he wasn't having any success, so he was lying there moping for a different reason.

Rick was working on his printing press, and Kate was sitting in the living room working on a new Christmas song. Writing one wasn't as easy as it sounded. It took work. But then she was interrupted by a knock on their door.

"Corimin!" Kate was happy to see him. She was hoping this meant good news.

"Can I come in?" He was really hesitant about asking.

"Of course, you're always welcome here, as are your parents. Alexis is in her bedroom, moping." Kate ratted her out. "If she gets any more depressed, it'll start raining inside instead of outside."

"Yeah, that's what my parents said," Corimin admitted. Only he didn't tell them why. But since they didn't see Alexis for over a week, they were both guessing that the two of them had had a fight. They had forced him out of the house to come over here and apologize for whatever he did. His mother was sure it was his fault.

"So, you know about Alexis?" Corimin questioned her.

Kate nodded. "Yes, I know. She's not my daughter, but after Rick and I marry, I'll be her stepmother. So I guess maybe that counts. She told me that you took the news hard." Kate guided him over to a chair to sit in before sending him upstairs to Alexis.

"That's an understatement." She should try finding Rick turning into a Demon while making love to him, and she might begin to understand.

"I presume being half Celestial didn't help any?" Kate asked.

"No." A Celestial was good, and a Demon was Evil. If his parents ever found out, they might kill her before he could talk them out of it. "Don't tell her, but I had a Cleric cast Detect Evil on her when she wasn't looking. He said she wasn't Evil. In actuality, she was Lawful Good. I almost paid him to do it twice after he said that." A Lawful Good Demon. It was an impossibility, yet it was what the Cleric told Corimin she was.

"Alexis told you that you could. She had nothing to hide. She's upstairs. I'm sure she would be happy to see you. I suck at talking myself, but I'm getting better. You might want to go up and have a nice long talk. Clear the air, so to speak," Kate suggested. She knew about all she needed to know...for now.

"Maybe." Corimin looked at the stairs but didn't move an inch.

"Men! …Come on." Kate got up, pulled him until he was standing, and then pushed him toward the stairs. "Go talk to her. Maybe kiss her. I've learned from Rick that hugs and kisses can solve many problems." Kate gave him another shove and watched him finally go up the stairs.

Instead of staying and maybe overhearing something, she went downstairs to advise Rick that Corimin was here to talk to Alexis.

ϵө϶Ѫϵө϶

"You think it'll work out?" Rick had come around to liking Corimin. His little girl loved him, and she was hurting. All because he couldn't take that she was a Succubus. "You came around when you found out about me."

"Yes, but I had my own issue. Adapting to you wasn't as easy as it seemed," Kate told him and then wrapped her arms around his neck. "But I love you now." Kate kissed him.

"So what are you working on, Future Husband?" He was setting type, but for which one?

"I'm not done with a new short story yet, so this is an old one. I plan to make as many copies as I can or till I get tired of it. You can have it back the day after tomorrow to work on yours." They still needed to share. They only had so much room back here, and a lot of the space was full of bolts of cloth, boxes of thread, and other things for Alexis.

"I haven't finished a new song yet either, so it will be an old one too. We really need to fill this place for next year. Where is Santa when you need him?" They were doing it the hard way.

Rick's eyes lit up. "Then you're admitting that you believe in Santa?" He thought he had finally converted her.

"Nope, just that I wish for an easier way. Nice try, babe." Kate kissed him again. "I've delivered my message. But I'm not done yet, so I'll leave you to it. We're closed since we don't have anything to sell, and no one will bother you." Kate kissed him again and went back upstairs only to find Alexis sitting next to Corimin, who had Patches in his lap, and he was petting him.

"Well, look at you two." Kate saw Alexis start smiling and blushing just a touch.

"He asked me out on a date," Alexis said, her eyes sparkling.

"Good! Maybe the mood around here will change for the better. Now, I have work to do, so why don't you two take Patches and go shopping? We're all out of fresh anything. Though good luck with that. We're in the dead of winter, and don't forget to bundle back up." Kate knew it was damn cold outside. The only heat in here was the fireplace, and it was cold downstairs. She thought of using the Lyre of Building and adding a fireplace downstairs to warm up the place.

It wasn't long before they were gone. Alexis held Corimin's hand as they walked to the Market, and she was happy. He wasn't ready to see her as a Demon again just yet, though, he admitted that yes, he did love her. He just needed time to adjust to her being a Demon. A Lawful Good Demon, no less. He was still trying to wrap his mind around that.

ϵө϶Ѫϵө϶

It had been a week, and Rick and Kate saw much more of Corimin of late than in the previous week. But what neither of them knew was that Alexis and Corimin were back to being lovers.

Alexis was making love to him while looking like a human save for the one time when she needed his Cum to live. However, even then, she hadn't been a Demon for long.

Today Alexis, Corimin, and Mops, along with Patches to keep them all company, were downstairs sewing. Alexis would hire more kids to help with sewing when the time came. For now, she didn't see the need.

Rick was in the kitchen making something tasty for lunch for all of them, including Corimin and Mops. Kate should be home soon from her class, but he didn't need to cook for her.

"Mitala!?" Kate ran across him just as he was about ready to go up the stairs to their place. "What've we done wrong this time?" It was an old gag, but it helped break the ice.

"Is everyone home?" Mitala inquired.

"They should be. Even Corimin and Mops might be here. Come on up. You can stay for lunch." Kate led him up the stairs.

"Thank you, that's most kind of you." Mitala would stay for lunch and talk while he ate.

ϵө϶Ѫϵө϶

Everyone, including Mops, was in on this one. "We have detained and interrogated all of the spies in Waterdeep, and we have learned much. Far more than we like. We want at least the three of you, Corimin if he wishes, to be at the Palace tomorrow morning at ten. We need to talk." Mitala wasn't going to say too much while he was here. There were not enough protections in place. Besides, he was unwilling to talk in front of Mops. She was just a child and didn't need to hear what he had to say.

Corimin spoke up quickly. "I'll be there."

And Rick spoke for the others, "We'll be there. How bad is it, Mitala?"

"It's bad enough. After you listen, you are free to decline, of course. We are asking, not telling you." They would never do that.

"As long as it doesn't involve a Dragon as big as our house, I don't think we have a problem." Kate was trying to joke about it. Rick was rubbing off on her. Except Mitala wasn't saying anything. "OH, GODS! Please say no."

"I cannot, but it may not be there when you are, and it's not Green this time," Mitala warned them.

Mops' eyes lit up. "A Dragon!?" She so wanted to go and see it. She had never seen a Dragon before.

Kate put her foot down and immediately put an end to that. "Absolutely not! You are not going, Mops. Your father would kill us if we took you with us."

"What color this time?" Rick queried, ignoring Kate exploding and Mops pouting.

"Either Red or Blue. Red breathes fire, while a Blue breathes a long line of lightning," Mitala replied.

"Then we either fry or get electrocuted. Sounds like fun." Alexis meant the opposite, of course. "And where are we going?"

"We will discuss that tomorrow." Once again, Mitala didn't dare risk it. What they had learned needed to stay a secret.

"But I want to see a Dragon," Mops wailed. Now she was the one sulking in this house for a change.

ϵө϶Ѫϵө϶

"Thank you for lunch. Everything was delicious as always. I may have to send my wife over for cooking lessons." Then his smile disappeared. "I will see all of you tomorrow at ten." Mitala looked at the little girl. "I'll see what I can do about letting you see a Dragon, Mops. But I can't promise anything."

"YES!" Mops had VICTORY! As far as she was concerned, what Mitala said was a yes, not a maybe or a no. Now she had to tell her father that she would get to see a real Dragon!

ϵө϶Ѫϵө϶

"What have we volunteered for this time?" Alexis wondered after Mitala left and Mops went home, thinking that one little Green Dragon had been bad enough.

But what Corimin was thinking was that Alexis was proving that she wasn't Evil, which helped settle his mind. He still needed to plan another date and make love to her again. Sex with her was incredible. Maybe being with a Succubus wasn't so bad after all. He just needed to figure out how to tell his parents.
