Chapter 52: Seeing Red

We find ourselves in downtown Metropolis, at a fancy restaurant but sadly it was the site of a fight.
Inside, Spider-Man and Batgirl were dealing with some mobsters.
"Alright fellas let's get this over with! I got places to be!" Spider-Man said firing webs tying up 3 of them.
"You know I had thoughts about coming here for dinner." Batgirl said throwing a batarang and knocking a gun out of his hand.
Running in she delivers a fierce kick knocking him into a table.
"I told you always check out the Yelp reviews." Spider-Man said leaping up onto the ceiling and dodging fire.
Swinging in, Spider-Man knocks him into the podium.
One was about to come up from behind with a crowbar but his spider-sense went off allowing him to grab it with ease.
"Okay. You are so not getting a tip." Spider-Man said punching him in the face.
Near the kitchen, Batgirl knocks a mobster against the wall when two more came out of the kitchen holding big knives.
"Sorry boys but I am not in the mood right now!" Firing her grapple gun, Batgirl ties one up before activating her stun knuckles punching the other.
Landing in the center of the restaurant both heroes looked to see all the mafia goons webbed up and unconscious.
"Okay not bad we got all of them, not too much damage and nobody got hurt in the crossfire." Spider-Man said looking around for any problems.
"Uh Spidey." Batgirl said pointing to a fish tank that had a bullet hole in it and was pouring out water much to the little fishey's horror.
Turning to the fish tank, Spider-Man fired a web fixing the hole.
A few minutes later, the cops showed up and the two heroes were pointing everyone out.
"Okay so that guy's the leader, that's his right-hand man, that's his muscle." Spider-Man points.
"And that's the number cruncher, that's the buyer, the seller and that's the guy who's been bribing people to cover their tracks." Batgirl points.
"Don't listen to anything that guy says." Spider-Man warns.
"Wow first you fight off aliens now you're taking on the mafia?" A cop asks.
"Hey just trying to help." Spider-Man said.
"So you kids trying to be the next Justice League or something?" A cop asks.
"Well no, we're too busy doing your jobs." Spider-Man said.
"Ooh burn!" The other cops and Batgirl said as they all laughed.
"Just messing with guys but seriously. Great job. Hopefully you guys can take it from here because I have plans tonight." Spider-Man said heading to the door.
"Hey even heroes need to have a fun night out." Batgirl shrugs before following after her.
Up on the rooftops, the two heroes were swinging away before landing on the roof across from the museum where the Batjet was parked.
"Finally we're done with patrol." Batgirl smiles.
"No classwork, no criminals just you and me for the rest of the day." Spider-Man said.
"Happy anniversary." Batgirl said lifting part of his mask up and kissing him.
"Can't believe it's been a year." Spider-Man said.
"Me neither but now it's just you and me." Batgirl said as they took off their masks.
"So where are we going for our date night?" Jaden asks as she went to the driver's seat.
"Somewhere we can forget it all for one night." Barbara said as he sat behind her.
As they were about to take off Jaden looked at the museum and spotted something.
"Hey look at that." Jaden said pointing to a banner draping from the museum.
On it was a preview for a new exhibit with its big icon labeled 'Ancient Artifacts including The Mirror of Fire' which looked like a beautifully crafted mirror with an unusual red substance covering it that made it look like it was made of flames.
"The Mirror of Fire. I wouldn't mind checking that out." Jaden said.
"Hmm maybe we can go check it out when it opens up." Barbara said as they flew off.
Meanwhile back at Super Hero High, Starfire was floating down the halls when she saw Poison Ivy was opening her locker when suddenly confetti shot out knocking her to the ground.
Popping her head out Harley burst into laughter.
"Harley your pranks are the worst." Poison Ivy snaps.
"You would think that. Pranks are only appreciated by good humor gals." Harley said.
"You're dead Harley!" Squirrel Girl calls out with half a dozen squirrels with their heads shaved in weird and crazy hairdos. "How dare you shave my squirrels!"
"But they look so funny this way." Harley said.
"Well lets see how funny they are when they chew you open like an acorn!" Squirrel Girl said tackling her.
"She's mine!" Poison Ivy yells joining the dogpile.
"I thought they were the friends?" Starfire said confused.
In another part of the school, Miles spotted two new girls fighting. Both had dark skin and similar electric themed outfits. The only differences were one was older and wore a black and yellow suit and the other was younger and wore a white and black. This was Thunder and Lightning.
"You're always borrowing my stuff without asking Jenny!" Thunder said taking a headband off her.
Turning around Lightning zaps her and takes it back.
"That headband looks better on me Anissa." Lightning said as Thunder stomps the ground making thunder echo and knocking her to the ground.
"Hey knock it off." Putting on his mask Jolt Arachnid separates them. "What is going on here? If you two are family you should be above this."
"Back off or I'll crush you like the bug you are." Thunder growls.
Firing two webs, Jolt Arachnid pins her to the lockers.
"Sorry it's for your own good." He said.
"Let me out! Let me out right now!" Thunder snaps.
"Ha ha!" Lightning laughs when Jolt Arachnid webs her to the wall too.
"That outta hold them. I gotta figure out what the heck is going on here." Jolt Arachnid said running off.
Walking out of her room, MJ had TRACE-E on her shoulders as Jaden asked her to watch the little fella while he was out.
"I can't believe Jaden made you. Tiger just keeps surprising people." MJ smiles. "That's why he's amazing."
Chirping in a flirty tone, TRACE-E moves her eyes in a teasing motion.
"What?" MJ blushes as TRACE-E chirps in a flirting way. "Okay so maybe I do like him like that. I'm not gonna tell Jaden I love while he's in the middle of a date." MJ said.
"Hey let go of me!" Turning around they saw Hawkgirl carrying Flash down the hall.
"3 weeks of detention for you Flash-in-the-pan!" Hawkgirl said.
"Make it four Goodey Two Claws!" Flash snaps.
"What the heck is going on here?" MJ said confused when she and TRACE-E heard a loud smashing noise.
Peeking their heads inside the room they saw Vice Principal Grodd snapping at Waller.
"I asked for a vacation day 3 months ago!" Grodd yells smashing her desk.
"Well maybe if had submitted it in writing I would have remembered bamboo breath!" Waller said judo flipping Grodd into the wall.
"What the heck?!" MJ gasps.
As it turns out fights were breaking out all over the school.
"Please my concerts are way better than your dumb magic shows." Dazzler mocks.
"Oh you think this is dumb?" Reaching into her hat, Zatanna pulls out a bunny.
"Incredibly." Dazzler said when the bunny fired magic from its eyes making her dodge.
In another room, Cyborg and T'Challa were arguing.
"I said no!" T'Challa said.
"Come on! You have tons of Vibranium! All I want is some for my tech." Cyborg said holding up a chunk.
"Vibranium is the property of Wakanda and anyone who uses it without our permission is considered our enemy!" T'Challa said swiping it out of his hand.
"Give it!" Cyborg yells chasing after him.
"Spider-Woman!" Turning around Spider-Woman and TRACE-E saw Starfire and Jolt Arachnid running towards them.
"What's going on here? Everyone's so angry?" Jolt Arachnid said.
"I don't know." Spider-Woman said as they heard the sound of punches echo.
"Titans!"
"Avengers!"
Opening the door they saw Supergirl and Beast Boy were fighting in the classroom…well if you could call it fighting.
As Supergirl fires her heat vision at him, Beast Boy turns into a wolf and tries to maul her but Supergirl's kryptonian skin made it so she didn't feel a thing.
"Is that all you got? Supergirl mocks throwing him off her. "Face it, compared you Titans the Avengers are the best. We're Earth's Mightiest Heroes."
"You mean when the Justice League isn't around?" Beastboy mocks.
"Oh it's on!" Supergirl said as he turned into a tiger and the two of them charged.
"Stop!" Starfire and the two Spiders said getting in between them.
"This is not right. This is not how we should be acting." Starfire said when Spider-Woman and Jolt Arachnid's spider-sense went off.
"And I think I know why. Look." Jolt Arachnid points and they saw the red Kyrptomite sending red waves.
"The red waves are making everyone angry. But because of my Tamaraean DNA and your Sense of the Spiders we are unaffected by the Kryptomite." Starfire realized.
"Meaning we can shut that thing down. TRACE-E get it!" Spider-Woman points.
Nodding TRACE-E leaped off her shoulder and landed in front of the Kyrptomite.
Growling the Kryptomite hissed at its enemy before swinging a chair at him.
Yelping TRACE-E fires a web to dodge it allowing the Kryptomite to escape.
Swinging after it, TRACE-E was not gonna let it get away.
"We gotta stop that Kryptomite." Jolt Arachnid said as the three of them followed after.
In the hall, TRACE-E was chasing down the Kryptomite.
Firing a web, TRACE-E pins its arm against the wall.
Chirping loudly, TRACE-E punches the kryptomite multiple times in the face.
Using its other arm, the Kryptomite knocks TRACE-E away as the three heroes arrive.
Cutting itself free the Red Kryptomite released red waves as if calling for backup.
Suddenly bursting through the wall Hulk, Harley and Poison Ivy appeared.
Firing vines, Poison Ivy pins Starfire to the wall while Hulk attacks the two spiders.
"Come on Hulk we're buds." Jolt Arachnid said dodging his punch.
"Hulk not friends with bugs! Hulk crush bugs!" Hulk roars pinning them both to the wall with his giant hands.
"Look at the way she flies." Poison Ivy mocks.
"Ugh and their dumb outfits. Hey Spiders. Everyone knows you two just copied Spider-Man's look." Harley mocks.
"You know I think she's actually more annoying when she's being evil." Jolt Arachnid said.
"No arguments here. We need to shut down that little Kryptomite." Spider-Woman said as Starfire got an idea.
"You know what I think is the dumb Ivy? The Anti-Kryptomite Chemical that you created. It smells of the unwashed gym sock and I would never wish to be sprayed with." Starfire said.
"That's too bad because I still have some in my locker." Poison Ivy said pulling the serum out of her locker.
"Now!" Firing starbolts from her eyes, Starfire zaps herself free.
Using his powers, Jolt Arachnid zaps Hulk making him scream in pain.
"Sorry Hulk!" Turning her arm into a mace, Spider-Woman smacks him in the face.
Firing a web at Poison Ivy they yanked the serum out of her arms.
Panicking the Kryptomite tried to make a run for it.
"TRACE-E!" Spider-Woman yells as TRACE-E rams into it knocking the Kryptmite to the ground.
Using this chance, they blasted the Kryptomite with the serum turning it into a rock and canceling out its effects on everyone.
"Ugh Hulk head hurt." Hulk groans.
"What happened?" Poison Ivy groans.
"I feel like I just went a round with Hulk." Harley groans.
"This Kryptomite was making you the not nice." Starfire said showing them the rock.
"My Kryptomite!" Harley said taking it.
"Excuse me." Spider-Woman glares.
"I mean strange Kryptomite that I was definitely totally not hiding in my room." Harley said trying to leave only for Hulk to grab her by the head stopping her.
"Hand it over." Hulk said.
"Aw do I have to?" Harley said.
"Give it or we will let Hulk smash you." Jolt Arachnid threatens.
"Aw come on guys it's just a rock and it's so pretty." Harley whines.
"That rock almost pitted the whole school against each other. Harley this is not time for games. Give it to us right now." Spider-Woman orders.
"But." Harley starts.
"Hulk." Jolt Arachnid orders interrupting her.
Pulling her in close, Hulk roars in her face.
"Oh fine." Harley pouts giving them the rock. "Say it don't spray it bub."
"I'll see to it that this thing gets disposed of." Spider-Woman said.
Looking around the school they saw everyone returning to normal.
"Sorry Zee." Dazzler said.
"No it's my fault. Apologize." Zatanna said as her rabbit nodded in apology.
"Of course you can have that day off Grodd. You deserve it." Waller said.
As Miles headed back to his locker he felt a tap on his shoulder.
"Hey uh Arachnid?" Thunder said standing behind.
"Whoa uh you're not gonna attack me again?" Miles asks defensively.
"No I just wanted to apologize. My sister and I did not make a good impression." Thunder said.
"Oh uh it's no problem. It was that Kryptomite." Miles said.
"We just started here recenltly. We're still getting the hang of everyone." Thunder admits.
"Hey relax. We all went through that during our first few weeks. You get used to it sooner of later." Miles assures.
"Thanks my name's Anissa by the way." She smiles holding out her hand.
"Miles." He smiles happily shaking it.
"Uh hello! I'm still webbed to the walls!" Lightning calls out.
"Uh Miles, you mind helping me get my sister down?" Anissa cringed.
"Sure." Miles chuckles happily that the whole Red Kryptomite mess was over.
Later that night we find ourselves at a nice hotel with a classy restaurant that even had dancing.
Standing in the hall wearing a nice outfit, Jaden was nervously waiting.
"Hey you." Turning around Jaden couldn't help but stare in awe as Barbara walked in wearing a beautiful black dress and had her hair tied up nice and elegant like, and her glasses just made her look breathtaking.
"Whoa you look…amazing." Jaden said.
"You don't look so bad yourself." Barbara giggles as they sat down. "You look good in a suit."
"Yeah I had this old thing in my closet. My mom always told me a man should always at least one nice outfit." Jaden said.
"Well clothes definitely do make the man." Barbara grins checking him out. "Glad I got to see you like this first."
"How did you find out about this place?" Jaden asks.
"When my dad was the Police Commissioner, he would get company trips here every year. I promised I'd wax his car for a month for this." Barbara said.
"Nice." Jaden said.
"How did you get us these restaurant reservations?" Barbara asks.
"You're not the only one with connections." Jaden smirks.
"What did you offer Tony in exchange for this?" Barbara assumes.
"I promised to polish his Iron Man suits." Jaden cringed making her giggle.
"The things you and I have to do." She smiles.
"You must really like me to go through all this." Jaden said.
"Right back at you." Barbara said as they ordered dinner.
"Barbara you really are something else." Jaden said.
"You're just saying that." Barbara said.
"I mean it. You're like the first girl I ever really connected with. Believe it or not, I wasn't really popular with the ladies for a long time." Jaden said nervously.
"I'm starting to wonder what Nerd Jaden was like." Barbara said.
"Well like this Jaden but…not as cool." Jaden said making her laugh.
"Lot has happened since you and I became a thing." Barbara smiles.
"I'll say I certainly never thought you would put on the cape let alone become an Avenger." Jaden said.
"Well I guess I just needed some help getting off the sidelines." Barbara said lost in thought. "You know I still remember that day so well."
"Yep the day I took on the Sinister Six and saved the school all by myself." Jaden recalls.
"Not just that. I still remember when you saved me on that subway. You were so amazing stopping that runaway train." Barbara smiles.
"I'm not gonna lie when you first found out my identity, I thought you were gonna dump me." Jaden admits.
"Me dump you? The guy who swings from webs and saved my life?" Barbara deadpans.
"Well…I was kinda was lying to you." Jaden said.
"Yeah you were but even so I realized something. I love Spider-Man but I love Jaden Cooper way more." Barbara smiles.
"You're not just saying that because you want me to do something tonight are you?" Jaden teases.
"Well a little but I actually mean it. I mean you come on if I didn't dump you for that and I didn't dump you when more girls wanted a piece of you then you need to realize that I REALLY want you in my life." Barbara points out.
"You make tons of valid points. All of them correct." Jaden smiles. "And for the record I want you in my life."
"And that's why I'm your number one." Barbara giggles.
After dinner the two of them finished eating, the two of them went out to a balcony for some fresh air.
"I gotta tell you Babs, this was nice." Jaden said.
"Been a while since you and I had a night to ourselves like this." Barbara agrees.
"You still remember the day we met?" Jaden asks.
"OSCORP. Or as I remember it, the day Otto Octavius became a supervillain." Barbara recalls.
"You know before he became evil, I really thought the Doc was cool. I wanted to be a scientist just like him." Jaden said.
"When I was little I wanted to be a detective just like my dad, but he did not like the idea of his little girl getting involved in all this." Barbara said.
"Well I'm glad you got into this. If you didn't, I never would have met you." Jaden smiles.
"Can you just answer me one question? Why me?" Barbara asks.
"What?" Jaden asks confused as she turns around to face him.
"What was it about me that you liked so much? I mean no offense but compared to Diana, Kara, Zee and the others you certainly had options." Barbara asks.
"Are you kidding? How could I ever do better than you?" Jaden said surprising her. "When I met you I thought you were the most amazing girl I had ever met. You were smart, funny, cool and very pretty. And then when you became a hero you just kept getting better. When you became my girlfriend. It was one of the best days of my life." Jaden smiles.
Beyond touched Barbara grabs him by the face and pulls him into a big kiss on the lips.
As the two of them make out passionately Barbara wrapped her arms around him refusing to let go.
"How do you keep finding new ways for me to fall head over heels for you?" Barbara asks.
"It's a gift." Jaden chuckles.
"You know I did manage to get us a room here for the night?" Barbara hints.
"Barbara Gordon you sneaky bat. It's like you just wanted me all to yourself." Jaden teases.
"Because I did. And I had a fun thought." Leaning in Barbara whispers something in his ear.
"You are something else." Picking her up bridal style, Barbara yelps as Jaden lifted her. "And that's why I love you."
"Ooh I'm liking where this is going." Barbara said as they both headed to their room.

In their room, we see Barbara wearing her Batgirl mask but the only thing she had on was a sexy bikini version of her suit.
As she stood near the bed, she suddenly heard something drop down behind her.
"Always with the wall crawling." Batgirl teases as she turns around to see Jaden hanging upside down wearing his Spider-Man mask and his underwear.
"Well Batgirl nice to see we have a moment by ourselves." Spider-Man said.
"Only natural. We're so compatible in the field a girl needs to find out if we're like that in other ways." Pulling his mask down to reveal his mouth Batgirl kisses him on the lips as the two of them make out.
"So you wanna come up or should I come down?" Spider-Man grins.
"Get down here." Batgirl grins.
Dropping down Spider-Man grabs Batgirl and pulls her in close with his hands grabbed her bikini clad breasts.
"Oh yeah you like my new suit don't you?" Batgirl moans.
"You're only allowed to wear this suit for me." Spider-Man said.
"And if I don't?" Batgirl asks and immediately felt a sharp smack on her rear.
"You can't see because of the mask but I am not letting a single hero look at you this way besides me." Spider-Man declares.
"Well then you better show me you're good enough for me just to be exclusive." Batgirl challenged.
Taking the challenge, Spider-Man presses her against the wall inserting his tongue into her mouth.
Moaning Batgirl felt his hands dig into her breasts fondling them wildly.

"Make me." Barbara grins ready for the challenge.

"Yes! Yes! Right there! Oh Jaden!" Barbara moans briefly breaking character.
"Don't go breaking on me now." Jaden said as her breasts bounced wildly with each thrust.

"Hey Barbara, I wanna ask you something." Jaden said getting her attention. "I told you why I fell in love with you, but you never told me why you fell for me."
Smiling Barbara leans in and rested her head on his chest.
"When I first met you I thought you were fun, a little slice of normal in my IT girl life. But when I found out who you really were I saw how amazing you are. Jaden you're one of the greatest heroes I've ever seen. Not because of your powers or your skills, but because even when life seems bad and things look their worst, you're the first to spring into action to save people who might even hate you. Spider-Man is great, but Jaden Cooper is something else entirely." Barbara said.
Beyond touched, Jaden pulls her in for one more big kiss.
"Just when I think I can't love you anymore." Jaden smiles.
"You mean besides the fact that I'm sleeping naked next to you?" Barbara teases.
Yanking her in next to him both smile and laugh seeing this anniversary was a huge success.
