WARRIORS: The Mystery
Chapter 1 A Warning
Leafpool padded though a dark forest. She didn't recognize the territory, but she knew it was near the lake. She heard a cat's fearful yowl and raced towards the sound. When she got there two cats stood in a small clearing, the full moon shone sown on the cats, one was laying down the other was crouched by it's neck. She stepped on a twig and both cats looked up, it might have been the light but it seemed that both cats had blood red eyes.
Leafpool woke up shaking, it was just before dawn so she stretched and stepped out of her den. She went to the fresh kill pile and chose a mouse; she ate it while she waited for the rest of the clan to wake up.
Thaed led the rest of his small band though the dark woods, he scented the air then mewed, "I smell badger." Hunter-the youngest of band- mewed excitedly, "Good, I'm hungry!" Thaed rested his tail on Hunter's shoulder and mewed, "Patience. We will hunt later," he raised his tail to the sky and finished, "We will wait till we are at our full power." The three cats lay down to wait. Cali lay next to Thaed and hissed, "why a badger? Why can't we find better prey?" Thaed sighed, "Because we haven't seen anything better." He gave Cali a lick then drifted of into sleep. Hunter sat on watch
"What do you think it means?" Brambleclaw asked, Leafpool had just told the leader and deputy about her dream. "I don't know. I suppose it means more cats are coming to the lake. There was something really sinister about those cats.
