Hello!
Yes, this is a new update. I will be out for the next few days and probably would not have been able to update on Monday. I will also update when I come back at the end of next week.
I know this chapter feels like a filler, but there will be interactions between them, just wait a bit more (Please don't give up on this story).
This scene takes place around S1E04 "The One with George Stephanopolous". In case you haven't seen the uncut version, there is a scene where the girls talk about what the guys would be like and this was the scene that inspired this chapter. The dialogues on that part are from the original TV show and I don't own them.
Anyway, enjoy this chapter and will see you back soon!
Unlike she had hoped, the strange feelings from that night did not disappear the next day. Almost a week had passed since that night and Monica's strange feelings towards Chandler did not seem to want to go anywhere. Every time he was close to her, her heart started to pound in her chest and every time he touched her, she felt butterflies in her stomach.
She did not know why that was happening, why she was so suddenly having a crush on her best friend. She still hoped that weird crush would go away eventually. After all, she was certain that it was just her brain playing tricks on her because she hadn't had a boyfriend in a while.
However, it was being difficult to get over it, because every chance she got, Monica caught herself staring at his face and every time she found something that made him more attractive. And she could not look at him without starting to imagine how his lips would feel like on her own. He had even caught her staring at him a few times and when that happened, she immediately turned her face, afraid that if they locked eyes she would be caught in the same spell she had been caught in that night.
However, she could not help but worry if he had noticed any of her behaviours. Because in the last few days, he had also started to act weird around her. He would sit next to her on the orange couch at Central Perk, but he did not cross his arms over her shoulder like he used to, as if he was avoiding touching her.
What if he had realized how she was feeling and was avoiding touching her because he knew how the physical contact made it worse? It did sound like him. Protecting her from herself without her even realising, while avoiding an awkward conversation. Monica concluded it was for the best and eventually these feelings would pass and they would be back to normal.
"What are you thinking about, so deeply?" – Phoebe asked, waking Monica out of her daydream.
Monica adjusted herself on the chair near the coffee table. That night was supposed to be a fun girl's night, a slumber party with alcohol, twister and lots of gossip. Instead, Rachel had been depressed about her lower than she expected paycheque and had the mood had been ruined.
"Nothing in particular. Just how I don't really have a plan for my life" – She used their previous conversation as an excuse, not bothering to hide the slightly sad tone of her voice.
She was ready to spend the rest of the night on that chair, thinking about the newest problem in her life and depress with her friends, when the pizza guy delivered their order wrong, leading them to go to the balcony to spy on their hot neighbour.
Miraculously, it had cheered them all up and when she noticed they were all sitting on the balcony, tiki death punch on one hand and a pizza slice on the other, gossiping about guys. While they spied on the front window, waiting for the guy to take off his towel, she didn't think about her best friend and neighbour once. That was exactly what she had been needing.
"What do you think the guys are like?"- Phoebe asked, surprising both Monica and Rachel.
That was one conversation she did not want to have. Because as soon as Phoebe started to talk about it, her mind flooded again with images of Chandler's perfect smile and baby blue eyes. She could feel the heat spreading through her cheeks and her chest, as she pictured what his body would look like. She got so caught up in her thoughts that she didn't hear what the other two girls were saying, until Phoebe said his name, catching her attention.
"…Chandler's hard to read. He's like one of those repressed guys that you would have to seduce"
She knew they were just casually talking and that her friend did not mean it seriously or negatively, but she didn't know why, she felt the need to defend Chandler.
"I think it's part of the act. I think Chandler is a lot more sophisticated" - She added next, faking a smile so her friends would not suspect the kind of thoughts that were on her mind moment before.
Because in her mind, that was what she imagined. When she pictured him, he was not hard at all to be seduced. And he certainly was not the awkward boy they all knew, but a confident man who knew exactly what he was doing. Then, her friends started to talk about Ross and her mood was instantly ruined at the mention of her brother.
Later that night, after their slumber party was over, Monica found herself laying on her bed unable to fall asleep just like that night almost a week ago. Only this time, instead of confusing, the thoughts that kept her awake were very clear. She could feel his skin touching her own and his hands running through every inch of her body. She closed her eyes at the thought of his lips brushing all over her, kissing all the way down from her neck to her chest and suddenly it felt like the temperature of the room went up a hundred degrees.
Without noticing, she got lost in her thoughts until she felt like he was right there on her bed. His bodyweight pressed her against the mattress in the perfect way as he kissed and touched her all over her body, in the right places. But what got her really caught in the moment was the look in his eyes as he made love to her all night long.
She woke up out of breath, her skin still burning. Only when she looked around at the empty and dark bedroom, she realized it had all been a dream. She shook her head, trying to get the sweet thoughts out of her mind, she knew she should not have. After her heartbeat calmed down, she started to worry again. That had never happened before.
For the past few days, she had fallen asleep almost every night to thoughts of kissing Chandler, but that was the first time she actually had a dream of this kind about him. Once again, she was sure it had all been a trick of her mind. She blamed the alcohol she had consumed the night before and the conversation on the balcony with her friends, which had mixed with her small crush.
She sat on the edge of the bed, allowing herself a few moments to process everything. Once her skin returned to a normal temperature and her mind was controlled, Monica stepped out of her bedroom, ready to face another day, as she decided that definitely needed to find a date soon.
