AN: So this is it, the first part of my big addition to the plot! I hope you enjoy as I'm very hype for this :D

Part 1

I sprinted as fast as my legs could carry me, and made my way to the gate before the majority of adventurers.

And when I got there, you know what I saw? A fucking Dullahan.

"Who dares to attempt to siege my home?!" The creatures voice boomed.

"What coward consistently kills my knights, my guards, my men?! What fool dares think himself worthy of fighting me?!"

Kyoya. Fucking. Mitsurugi.

And of course he wasn't here.

"No one?! The fool runs now?! Fine! I'll kill every last one of you until I find him!"

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck!

I felt a light tap on my back and stepped out of the way, but to my surprise, it was Megumin. She stepped forward, and as she spoke, my heart sunk further and further into my stomach.

"I may not be the one who attacked your castle, but I won't stand by while you hurt my friends!"

A cheer came up from the crowd. Somehow, someway, she was rallying the fighters for the cause.

"A brave one are you? Let's see where that gets you!"

He lunged forward at Megumin, but Darkness stopped him.

From the corner of my eye, I spotted Aqua casting Sacred Turn Undead.

This seemed like it was going to be easy after all.

If only I knew how wrong I was.

Part 2

The spell didn't even graze him.

We're fucked.

Again.

I had stepped into the fighting at this point, though the rest of the adventurers seemed to be frozen where they stood.

As I saw him go to through his head into the air, I shouted the others to jump back.

But Megumin was too slow. His blade swung through the air and sliced her across her stomach. She flew around 20 feet back, and had a deep looking cut across her core, though luckily, she was still alive. I got Aqua to tend to her while me and Darkness fought, but things looked grim. My attacks just bounced off of his armour, his could cut us down in one effortless swing.

We were outmatched, and skill wise, outdone. A.K.A: we're doomed.

But we still tried. Damn right we tried. At one point the Dullahan stepped back and pointed at Darkness.

"That, is a perfect example of a knight!" He bellowed.

"It's a shame she'll have to die."

I couldn't speak.

"!"

In my shock, I was rooted to my stop as I watched him raise his hand and shout out, "Bestow Cursed Death hex!"

My heart dropped.

Time slowed down.

The horror grew on my face and I watched Darkness tremble, before collapsing in pain.

This was the girl I knew to withstand even Megumin's explosions, and here she was crumpled in the floor, writhing in excruciating pain.

Sorrow filled my heart.

But then it mutated, changed, grew, into something much more potent.

Pure sheer anger turned to pure sheer madness, and as my focus faded, I got angrier and angrier.

Hold on a sec.

What's this mask on my face?

Part 3

My head hurts. My body hurts. He needs to hurt.

He needs to fucking suffer.

He needs... to feel as fucking pissed as I do right now!

My vision cleared but all I could see was red. He needed to see red. He needed to bleed.

If he could, that is.

I dashed forward with unparalleled speed, and attacked harder I ever could have done before.

Megumin POV:

"W-What's he... doing.." I said with raspy, heavily breathy words.

"Everything he can." Aqua smiled back, but something wasn't right, and I was 99% sure that was Vanir's mask.

But then, Aqua turned and did a double take.

Horror filled her face, but she wouldn't talk about it.

Kazuma POV:

Why won't he just die already!

"You piece of shit!" I screamed as I swung.

It wasn't enough. Even with all my skills, all my boosts, it's wasn't enough. Though I was quick enough to dodgy his attacks.

An idea popped into my mind, but as I went to use it, something went wrong.

"Hangman's Gambit!"

Part 4

Whatever that was, it helped.

I'm doing much better damage than before, and even quicker but I feel unusually frail.

Every attack I made was draining my reserves more and more.

My eyes and ears bled.

I couldn't even breathe through my nose because of the blood, but I didn't care.

My focus went to 1000% as I lined up the next slash, and it carried as much strength and vigour as the first swing I ever took. My whole world became the arc of a blade and the way the light gleamed as it cut through the air.

But due to my lack of sight and hearing, I didn't notice the blade about to remove my head from my body.

But what I did see, was an already injured Megumin pushing me to safety, and getting cut into two.

No.

No.

No!

This isn't happening, it- it can't be.

Aqua rushed over to Megumin.

She was gone.

Narrator POV

Kazuma screamed in horror upon seeing his greatest friend become lifeless. His everything was gone. The world spun, then went dark.

Between blips of consciousness, Kazuma saw the armour of the Demon General shatter more and more.

Kazuma POV

This is a nightmare.

This isn't real.

I'm so fucking angry.

I don't care anymore, damn it all! Damn it all to hell!

I carried my blade behind me as I ran.

I didn't recognise the words I was about to say.

I lined up a perfect shot.

I swung and casted a spell I had never heard of.

"Explosion Series- Sacred Soul Shatter!"

As I heard Beldia scream, I blacked out.

I think... this could have been my last stand.

Part 5

I'm alive and awake.

I think.

As everything faded back into view, I didn't hear a single sound. Looking around me, no one had moved from where they stood.

Wait!

Shit!

Megumin!

I looked over and saw Aqua healing a somehow in one piece Megumin, and I noticed she was breathing, but barely, and was sill out cold.

I used my last remaining energy to stagger to where she laid, Vanir's curse fading from me every second until the mask was completely gone and I looked over Megumin.

Due to the strange shit I just did, Aqua backed away from me as I walked over to Megumin.

Looking at her made the mask disappear.

I couldn't feel angry looking at Megumin right now.

I tried to lightly shake her awake, noting her fully healed (visually) stomach.

But she wouldn't wake and her breaths became more and more distant.

Horror and pain filled my soul as I screamed, begging her to wake up.

"Please, please just be okay. Please wake up" I sobbed.

"Kazuma sto-" Aqua tried to plead, but I interrupted her.

"I fucking love you okay?! Will that wake you up?! Please! Please get up! Show me you're fine before I collapse too!"

I clutched Megumin's hard, as hard as I could as the last of my life and energy drained.

Right before I blacked out, I looked down at myself, and I was coated in blood. I had cuts on my whole body. I may have overdone it. At least we're safe now, and it's done.

My energy finally ran out, and for the umpteenth time, I blacked out.

The last things I noticed were the softness of Megumin's hands, and the smell of Iron.

Part 6

I woke up in hospital, and was unable to move.

A thousand thoughts raced through my mind as I looked around the all white room to the best of my ability.

There was no one else there, and as I tried to move I screamed in pain.

A doctor sprinted in, followed by Aqua and Darkness.

I got the run down of the situation from there, essentially, magic wasn't having an affect on my body.

They were waiting on a potion, and right as they said that, a woman in purple robes walked in potion in hand.

And right behind her, was Vanir.

I tried to move, scream, but I couldn't do anything.

"Calm yourself, boy who nearly just pissed himself at the sight of me! Moi intends you no harm. Who do you think bought the damn potion to save you?" he leaned in close to me, and whispered in my ear. "After all, I can't have my protégé dying off too quickly, though I'm surprised how quickly the power bound to you."

Everything that happened flashed through my mind. Especially the friend of mine who wasn't doing great the last we spoke.

"H-How's... Megumin..." I forced out.

"Eh? Oh she's fine she was sent home 2 days ago!" Aqua responded.

"2 days?! How long have I been in this place?!"

"Hmmm... About two weeks" Darkness responded.

I recoiled in shock, then recoiled again in pain.

I laid there, dazed, in pure shock over just how long I'd been out.

What was even weirder though, was that magic wasn't working on me.

This whole series of events was, frankly, one hell of a lot to process. To be honest, the old me from back home would have probably broke down just from this.

Rather than dwelling on that, I grabbed the potion and drank it as quick as I could, purely because of the horrid taste.

Strangely enough, I felt completely fine after drinking it, not a single trace of pain or discomfort, none whatsoever.

Not physically at least. Mentally, I was in a fucking tailspin. Everything that had happened lately had more than taken its toll, and I needed a damn break.

After being told the potion could heal almost anything, but only comes from the village of the Crimson Demons, I was sent home.

Home to Megumin.

AN: Hello! Sorry, this should have come out a while ago but due to the usual reasons as well as the holidays, it took longer than it should have. You'll get some Kazumin fluff next chapter though, so look forward to that. Also please leave some feedback as it helps me greatly. Thanks!
