Swann's Note: What? When I get angsty, Will gets angsty :P It's a weird perspective, but I think it's one of my better pieces :D
Disclaimer: Yeah, I own it. I'm also a little mermaid with singing crabs to keep me company.
It had started with a look.
That was all that it was.
Will had seen it...right before Barbossa and his men threw her into the ocean.
It was breif, but it was the most emotion that that man's face had ever shown.
The emotion was worry. Not for himself...no, his face didn't show worry for himself, he was too confident.
It was a look of worry for her.
Really, they had only known each other for a few days. Weeks, at the most.
He was worried for the woman Will loved.
And that worried Will, greatly. He didn't know why, but it did.
Will had seen the same look when they were leaving for the hanging.
Although, this time, she was worried about him. Worried for him.
That was natural, of course. They were friends, what wasn't there to be worried about? He had saved her countless times.
Will had saved her countless times. Besides, Will loved her.
And the look of relief on her face as he escaped...
...Yes. Of course, Will should have seen it coming. It was that look of relief.
The day before the wedding was different, of course.
She was beautiful, and happy.
And that was all Will cared about. Her happiness.
But the dawn of the wedding, Will was out for a very early morning walk.
Will saw her, in her wedding gown, staring out at the ocean and the approaching storm.
And Will could've sworn he saw a sparrow on the horizon.
That was his imagination, of course.
When they said goodbye.
Will had truthfully thought it would be the last time.
They should have been married.
It was all his fault, of course. He was the reason they weren't married yet. Him and his constant quest for the horizon.
Will knew there was something wrong when she kissed him on the island.
In her eyes, there was...
...Dissapointment.
And a look of complete revulsion on his face.
He actually looked ill.
That was, of course, quickly covered up by a snapping compass and a drawn sword.
But then, they shared a look.
Another one of those looks...
When the kraken attacked.
When Will was hanging for his dear life onto some explosives.
The minute that she dropped the gun, he arrived.
Him, the man who had disappeared seconds before with the only boat.
And the minute Will saw her, out of the corner of his eye, clutch his boot as though her life depended on it...
Will knew he had lost her.
The kiss. It was the kiss that convinced Will.
Will should've seen it coming.
He deserved what he got, the dreadful pirate who had put them in this position.
Will couldn't help but tell himself that it was obvious.
They had known each other for nearly three years now.
But he was a pirate.
And Will was a blacksmith.
Will couldn't help but berate himself again and again that he had not seen it coming.
And it was all...
...Because of one look...
