He shrugged, turned his back and walked off, we all follow his lead. Just then the door to the house creaked open, we turned.
"Wh- what was that" I yelped turning to Ashley, panic-stricken.
"It's just a creaky door" she reassured,
"Okay, so wanna go in?"
"You sure Gracie" she looked at me dead in the eye.
"I'm- I'm sure" I gulped
"Okay, lets go" I walked in, alongside Ashley- the others didn't hesitate to follow. Suddenly we heard the door slam shut! We had no way out. It became quiet, a little too quiet. there was light illuminating from candles all around the room, but then that all died; there was just a mere gust of wind and they were all put out. We heard a high-pitched girlish scream overhead from which I found I was screaming right along with it.
"Who screamed" everyone wanted to know.
"It was m-me" I replied embarrassed, this wasn't good now everyone was going to know; even my teacher.
Just then Sandy and her two little ones walked in.
"Sorry we're late guys, my two little ones were debating on whether or not they wanted to come in"
"That's fine, just don't close the door..." we all practically screamed at her, but it was to late. one of her kids tripped on the door stop, trapping us inside once more.
"Man, what if I never see my father again!?" I panicked. "What if you never see you brother again!? What if-"
"Gracie snap out of it" Ashley slapped me across the face.
"I want my mommy...!" I wailed,
"Okay, okay-" Ashley said exasperated. "Didn't your dad pack something?"
"Oh yeah" I whispered, "But I can't get them out right now- what if everybody in this room starts laughing at me?"
"Okay, how about this: you work on getting them out and I'll just explain to everyone that those things make you feel safe, that they're like your security blackest in times of distress"
"Okay" I sniffled, drying my tears on my white veterinarian lab coat.
Gracie pulled out the two dolls from their plastic enclosure and immediately held them to herself, letting all the fear and panic melt away.
"What are those?" Otis asked,
Of course, it just had to be the teacher she thought, out of everyone in this town it just HAD TO be him
"Well, Mr. McPuggleson... you see I- I..." she trailed out looking more embarrassed then ever.
"Those are just her safety tools, you know like a security blanket"
"Awww, I see..."
