Abigail sat on her bed quietly, scrolling through her laptop sadly. She was grounded, again, for something that she couldn't control. It wasn't her fault that the bus wasn't on time or that she was late for class. She did try extremely hard to make it. Despite her almost desperate sprint down the hallway, she was once again tardy to class. She begged her teacher not to mark her as such, because she knew she would have to face the wrath of... Her. And of course, she was right. When she arrived home, the expected screaming and wailings of her mother filled the house. She gave up on wondering whether or not the neighbors heard her anymore, and quietly waited for her to finish. Today's punishment was that she was not allowed to leave her room until her mother believed she had learned her lesson, which wasn't going to be anytime soon.
So now, she was stuck in her room scrolling through Insta-book, checking to see if there was anything new today. She had just about given up on her search when she saw an interesting-looking advertisement, 'Do you want your life to change? Do you wish for something spontaneous, maybe random even?' The background of the ad had red and gold circles that seem to dance across, they reminded her of eyes that we're searching for something. Another interesting detail she noticed was that when she hovered her cursor over it, it seemed to turn into a claw hand of some sort, "I haven't seen this ad before... Must be new," she clicked on it to see what it was talking about.
Instantly, she was brought to an entirely new page, with chocolate rain falling from the top and pigs with wings flying across the screen. She would have looked for more interesting things about the website, but then a mascot appeared, "Congratulations viewer!" It yelled in an excited voice, "You have been specially chosen out of the hundreds of people on the interwebs to meet me, The Lord of Chaos!" A choir of orange frogs, a literal mix of oranges and frogs, sang a fanfare as cotton candy exploded behind the creature. Abigail blinked in confusion, then laughed at the absurdity she was seeing, "What on earth is happening right now? Whoever made this page put in a lot of hard work…"
The creature reminded her of Frankenstein's monster. Its body consisted of a horse head, two different types of horns, a lion paw for its right hand, and a claw for its left. But what fascinated her the most was its eyes. Normally eyes were white with black pupils, but its eyes were dandelion yellow with scarlet red pupils. All in all, "Lord of Chaos" wasn't too far-fetched of a title.
After a few seconds, the creature snapped his fingers, causing everything behind him to disappear, then looked out from the screen, barely missing Abigail's gaze, "Now, let's cut the chase. Right now I can't hear a word you are saying, but I assume it's something along these lines," In a flash, he had a puppet on his left claw that was a felt version of himself, "How am I able to meet the amazing Lord of Chaos!" Abigail giggled at how he gave the puppet a high-pitched voice but continued to listen, her curiosity growing with every second, "Well my fuzzy little friend, I'll show you!" He proceeded to gracefully throw the puppet towards the top of the webpage, somehow causing her computer to have a notification pop up, "Discord wants to use your microphone and camera".
Abigail hesitated, "I've always been taught not to give sketchy websites like this permission to access my computer, but…" She got up and checked the driveway of her house from her window, "Mom is gone, so she won't have to know… Besides, I doubt anything will go wrong. Even then? I have a flash drive of all my important programs, it'll be fine," She sat back on her bed and took a deep breath, "Let's see what Discord wants to know…" She clicked the "allow" button and waited.
Discord blinked as his gaze adjusted to looking Abigail in her eyes, "I didn't expect you to actually click yes…" he muttered to himself. Abigail gave a smile and shrugged, " I guess I'm just a risk-taker," Discord smiled knowingly, "Well I think your risk will be worth it… and may I just say you look absolutely breathtaking?" He gave a small bow as a bouquet of flowers appeared in his claw-like hand, causing Abigail to blush. He knew that if he could charm her, he could distract her long enough for him to make his escape out into the real world again.
Abigail looked at the flowers longingly, "It's a shame you aren't real, they look very beautiful and would help liven up my room..." Discord then got an idea, 'Perhaps I don't have to distract her,' he thought, 'I could outright tell her and save all the trouble,' he smiled at her, trying not to look desperate, "What if they could be real, my dear?" This instantly got her attention, and Discord was not about to lose it, "I could teleport into your world in the blink of an eye and be able to spread my chaos- er, magic with your world… All you have to do, is agree to let me out, and all your dreams will come true, my dear…"
Abigail looked away from the computer, weighing the offer in her mind. 'On one hand, I just met this person… creature... thing… I have no idea who he is or what his motives were. On the other hand…' She looked towards the barren view of her window, kids were playing in the streets and their parents were talking with old friends. It was the kind of life she dreamed of having, and the kind of life she lacked, 'My life sucks, there is no doubt about it. I can't see how it can get any worse. If I have a magical being on my side, maybe I can get back some control over my life.' She turned back to the laptop screen, Discord doing his best to wait patiently. "So what's going it to be, my dear?" Abigail took a deep breath, "Abigail," she muttered quietly. Discord looked confused, "Pardon?" She gave a small smile, "My name is Abigail, and I am in,"
Discord clapped his 'hands' and smiled excitedly, "Excellent decision, my dear… Abigail. You won't regret this!" Abigail smiled, "I don't think I will… Now, how will you get out?" Discord smiled, a mischievous glint appeared in his eyes, "Well… put the device on the ground, and I'll show you…" Abigail raised her eyebrow and was about to ask what he meant when her laptop started to shake. She quickly grabbed the laptop and placed it on the ground. However, before she could back away it exploded with light, causing her to fall backward on a pile of blankets and pillows she never bothered to pick up. Floating above Abigail's laptop was the Lord of Chaos, in the flesh, "It's good to be back…" he rumbled triumphantly as Abigail stared in amazement... and a hint of fear...
