Zack rubs his face. Glances over at Dolph as he sleeps. A returning Sheamus had attacked him on Raw the night before. Left him vulnerable, laying in the middle of the ring. Kept him from being cleared to compete for Smackdown, so Zack had decided a flight to Dolph's apartment in Arizona would be easier on him then flying back to New York.
He checks the fridge, pokes around the pantry. Finds little in the way of food and returns to the bedroom, leaning in to kiss Dolph's forehead. "I'm gonna get some food, bro. Just rest. I'll be back soon." There's a grocery store a couple of blocks away, so he walks there, stocks up on some of his favorite foods and necessities. Pays and stuffs as much as he can in three bags and carries it all back to Dolph's apartment, peeking in on him before putting things in the fridge or pantry, content with all of the food and drinks waiting for Dolph to wake up. "You did good, kid," he mumbles to himself, pausing at Dolph's nickname for himself. "Damn."
Turning, he walks back into the bedroom and runs his fingers through Dolph's hair, laying down next to him. "Everything's gonna be ok, bro. You'll pay him back for that." He stretches out and watches Dolph sleep for a few minutes before his own weariness overwhelms him and leaves him sacked out just like that, breathing heavily.
When he wakes up, it's dark. Quiet. Except that there's something cold on his nose and he jumps, sitting up groggily. "What the-?" Dolph's laughter wakes him up some and he fumbles for the lamp, turning the light on and squinting up at him. "Bro?"
"Hey, kid." Dolph smiles at him, looking a little more alert and in less pain than he was when they arrived. "Do you want something to eat?" It's then that Zack notices the sandwich in Dolph's hand, some of the mayonnaise smeaered in a way that's clear that he rubbed it over Zack's face.
Zack glares at him for a moment, wiping his face off and licking his fingers off. "This is the thanks I get for buying groceries, huh, bro? Given a heart attack in my sleep."
Dolph laughs. "Sorry, kid. I just thought you looked hungry."
"I was asleep," Zack sighs with an eyeroll, reaching out for the sandwich and taking a bite. He pauses, eyeing Dolph. "You look better. How do you feel, bro?"
"Better. Still a little sore but I think I'll be good to go for the events next week." He lays his head down on Zack's shoulder and yawns. "Thanks for taking care of me, kid."
"Sure, any time," Zack murmurs, finishing the rest of the sandwich and running his fingers through Dolph's hair. "Glad you're feeling better. That flight was kind of rough, I was relieved you slept through most of it."
Dolph hums, eyes drifting shut again already. "Turbulence, huh?" He kisses Zack's neck. "Thanks for bringing us here instead of New York. I know you miss your apartment, but mine is nice sometimes too."
Zack chuckles, watching as his words slur, then fade into sleepy silence. "Yeah, bro. I like your apartment too." He kisses him softly and closes his eyes, listening to Dolph's breathing. "Night, bro."
