After a simple breakfast and lazy shower spent reflecting on their wedding, Dolph cups Zack's face, kisses him slowly and reluctantly leaves for Smackdown. It's a three hour drive to Rhode Island and the only thing Dolph really cares about is doing somethingto Sheamus. He's not sure what exactly, but anything that'll make him think twice about touching Zack. He walks into the building, determined to do something big before the PPV... just to find Neville standing in the hallway, an intense look on his face. "Hey," Dolph says distractedly, fiddling with his ring as he walks past him.

"Oh hello," Neville says, following him into the locker room. "Er, Dolph?" He looks down as Dolph continues to absentmindedly twist the band around his finger. "Oh. Congratulations to you and Zack?" he says uncertainly.

Dolph tilts his head, smiles. "Thank you. You're the first to notice. Well, you're the first I've seen tonight." Kicking his bag away, he looks up, curious over why Neville is still hovering. "Any particular reason you're following me around?"

Neville coughs into his fist. "Yeah, actually. The card for tonight's been announced. We're, uh, teaming against Barrett and Sheamus." Dolph pauses and looks him up and down for a moment. "I'll see you out there then?"

"Yeah," Dolph says. It might not be so easy to get the upperhand against Sheamus with Barrett and Neville taking up time, but it's better than nothing. "Thanks for letting me know, Neville."

"Any time," he says, walking out of the room to give Dolph some time to himself, get some catering, take a few minutes before he has to prepare for the match.

It's a fight. But they work well together, keeping Sheamus at bay long enough for Dolph to hit a ZigZag, Neville landing a picture perfect Red Arrow on a prone Bad News Barrett, the pin achieved easily from there. They nod at each other, shake hands, and then turn to climb the ropes to face the cheering crowd.

Once backstage, Dolph finds his things, slips his ring back on his finger and stares down at it with a small smile. Extreme Rules will be annoying, he has no doubt, but he has a lot of inspiration to walk out the winner. For himself, his own sanity, and now, for his husband. He chuckles, shaking his head thoughtfully. A lot of people would be shocked if they knew, he thinks, rubbing his finger over the cool band. Shrugging it off, he stands up and collects his things, eager to get back home and see Zack again.

Another lengthy drive later, he's not surprised to find the house dark and quiet. Zack is sacked out on the couch, his rings gleaming in the soft light of the TV and Dolph sighs, kneeling by him and running a hand through his hair. "C'mon, kid, let's go to bed." He leans in and kisses him until he stirs, easing him up to his feet and supporting him as they walk slowly down the hallway to bed. Kicking his shoes off, Dolph guides Zack to the bed and curls up behind him, wrapping an arm around his waist and staring at the opposite wall, yawning. "Happy to be home," he murmurs, kissing Zack softly on the back of his neck.

Zack hums, rubbing Dolph's arm. "Know what I noticed, bro?" he asks groggily.

"What, kid?"

"It's been five months since you proposed, and now we're all, like, married and everything. Crazy how fast things moved, huh?"

"Yeah." Dolph pulls him in tighter and smiles against his shoulder, thinking about that, how far they've come. "Our surprise wedding was the best decision I've ever made, kid. And I'm glad you weren't mad or anything about it."

"Same here," Zack murmurs, already half asleep in Dolph's arms. He exhales, tangling their fingers together. "Love you, bro."

"Love you too, kid," Dolph says quietly, already planning ahead for Sunday. How he'll handle being in the same arena with Zack, their wedding rings visible for all to see, and Sheamus breathing down their necks, looking for more vulnerabilities. I won't let him do anything to you, Dolph thinks, staring at the back of Zack's head, running his fingers over their rings. Or to this. I promise.
