"Help! I… I can't…" Elena screamed into the aether, but to no avail she felt as if something was holding her under, as if intent on keeping her there in the void. That alone should have scared her. It didn't help that her recollection of the last few hours was somehow shrouded by a cloak of hazy fog in her own mind. Try as she might, she couldn't even recall writing in her journal, and she always had done that nightly ritual before turning in for the night. I know I'm asleep Elena considered trying to rationalize her own thoughts. There were just too many unknowns she was most likely dealing with.

She knew something was very wrong at the moment when she couldn't even force herself to wake up. After all, growing up with Jeremy and his obsession with watching horror flicks just before bedtime, that handy trick had become a necessity. And lately he had started binge watching The Walking Dead on Netflix she already had enough dealings with creatures of the undead variety. She didn't blame him if she had to guess he was just trying to find a diversion from all the real life supernatural drama going on. It didn't help that her and friends' lives actually did involve actual undead beings in their hometown, even months after the sacrifice that claimed her aunt's life as well as her own, Elena still had nightmares about that fateful night. Her only reprieve was the simple fact that she always could wake herself up if a dream or worse a nightmare became too much. But not this time, and she was starting to panic.

"Calm yourself child everything will be fine." An oddly ethereal voice spoke from no discernible direction, but that didn't stop Elena's from trying to locate its source.

"Who are you? What are you doing to me?" Elena demanded. Whoever or whatever was doing this to her and her memories didn't respond. Which only made her even angrier, she'd never liked being compelled and whatever this was was no exception, Elena couldn't help feeling utterly violated by the experience.

Elena's current dream state was rather disconcerting and had the unfortunate side effect of churning up some recent memories she would've preferred to forget. But as dreams go, this one hadn't initially started that way. At first it oddly felt as if someone else other than herself was simply watching a movie of her life that started from her earliest childhood memories right up to the accident that took her and Jeremy's parents from them both. However, everything afterwards was a chaotic jumble and even more disturbing was when she'd tried to fight or alter the dream it was almost as if someone else was controlling it. From the moments she first met Stefan and then Damon and her discovery that vampires existed. Then there was her first encounter with her doppelgänger and Katherine's connection to the two Salvatore brothers. Then meeting her biological mother Isobel who was willingly turned into a vampire only to be compelled to kill herself by a cursed obsessed would be Hybrid Original Vampire. Although not all her experiences with some of the Original Family members were bad, the honorable Elijah was a fine example. But as well as that part of her dream was the growing fear she felt with Klaus haunting her and then finally being sacrificed. But it didn't end there before it finally did with the resulting aftermath including the events that transpired in the cave what felt like only yesterday. She tried to resist, but the dreams refused to obey her wishes. The dreams or were they mere memories? Continued playing out in her mind with no recognizable pattern and sometimes they repeated but seemingly from a different view point.

Elena struggled to wake up, but something was still preventing her from doing so. As she struggled with trying to insert more pleasant imagery of her childhood friends and brother to oust what was currently paraded through her mind, she felt her anger rage as her cherished memories of her friends replayed in her mind.

Finally she felt the pressure in her mind ease away. Before she could start to even demand answers, the eerily familiar voice spoke one final time before she drifted off into oblivion. "Thank you Elena, I would ask for your forgiveness but you won't have any firm memories of this necessary but still needed intrusion into your mind. Now sleep child and forget."

She wanted to tell whoever was doing this to her to go to hell but the darkness and blissful silence pushed itself into her troubled thoughts.

A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A

Elena didn't exactly understand why, but she was feeling somewhat out of sorts at the moment and she couldn't yet put a finger on why. An odd tingle she felt behind her shuttered eyes, the only physical sensation she had that something might've been amiss. I just need some coffee, she chastised herself grumpily.

Still she wasn't quite ready to face the day yet. She still hadn't quite opened her eyes yet in a futile attempt to forestall the start of the day so instead she shifted in her bed and froze in alarm. This can't be right, she knew, but just by the coarse feel of the blanket material against her fingertips she knew that she wasn't in her own bed. What the hell? Had she been kidnapped? But who could do such a thing? Stefan, no he would never do that, would he? Her friends? No, they would at least wake her up if that was the case. Klaus? That would be the most obvious individual, but why now after the deal she'd struck the day before. The proverbial bomb went off inside her head. All the previous events from the previous day and night came rushing back.

I thought that all had been a strange dream, Elena thought quickly in a vain effort to hold back the stark reality, but it was no use. She knew where and more importantly when, she was; it left her no small comfort that probably her own subconsciousness had been trying to reacquaint herself to her current predicament. Slowly still not wanting to believe or even accept her situation she hazarded opening her eyes for a peak and when the world came into focus, she let out a small audible shriek when confronted with a face from what should have been from her own past but knew that it just wasn't the case was mere inches from her own. Katherine! No, that wasn't right, but there was only one other person that shared the same face.

"Oh! By the Gods, I'm so sorry I… I didn't mean to scare you like that. My name is Tatia," Tatia said, offering a hand to her counterpart. Elena, somewhat taken aback by Tatia's friendly nature, still sadly accustomed to previous experiences with their other doppelgänger, accepted her hand with hesitancy that had become almost ingrained in her psyche when dealing with Katherine.

"Um… No worries. My name is Elena Gilbert," she said, taking her ancestor's youthful appearance. For Elena, it was almost looking into a mirror set to only reflect images of her early teenage years. Had she really changed in such a short amount of time, Elena wondered. Elena had always been told she was beautiful and before her parents had died, she'd enjoyed the attention. Now it didn't mean as much as it once had. Tatia's clothing was a simple blue linen long sleeved dress. Her hair was done up with a rather interesting waterfall braid she might have to try for herself one day. To her surprise, her duplicate wasn't wearing any makeup, which could mean that they didn't do that sort of thing in this time period. She felt an odd bloom of hope that Tatia might not be at all like her next successor in the Petrova Doppelgänger bloodline.

"I was just curious as to what I would look like once I am about your age," her doppelgänger spoke hesitantly, backing further away to give Elena room to sit upright while giving each of them the opportunity to study each other better. Although it still took Elena a second or two to fully digest her ancestor's statement. Elena made to open her mouth, but stopped herself as she considered how best to respond. Ironically, she felt like history was repeating once again; but unlike her first encounter with Katherine she felt as if she was better prepared than before. Still, it was rather jarring to see a face from her own past.

"Just for my own curiosity's sake as well, exactly how old are you now? And to answer your own inevitable question, I'm eighteen as of June," Elena said softly. She had had enough encounters with Katherine to somehow know that this time it was different. The girl before her, as she was biologically only a few scant years younger than herself, it wasn't that particular detail that stood out. It was the personality of the person behind those familiar yet youthful brown eyes that ultimately stunned Elena to her very core. If she had to put a single word to describe it, it would be 'innocence;' and from how many of her own exchanges with Katherine Pierce it felt right.

"I… I've only just turned fourteen fairly recently, sorry I really don't wish to offend, but what is June? Is that some date of significance I'm not aware of?"

Elena kicked herself mentally when she finally puzzled out what her younger doppelgänger was confused about, and then did her best by briefly described the Julian Calendar, which subsequently lead to her going into the Gregorian Calendar before stopping herself once she noticed the perplexed expression of the younger girl now sitting on the bed beside her.

"I'm not a child. Before we immigrated to this strange land, much of my family traced their lineage all the way back to Greece. So I do understand what the Julian Calendar is. What I don't understand is how does 'June' relate…" She stopped, then peered back at her older companion. "Do you mean the month of Junius? Why do you call it that?"

"Ah… Yes, I guess for some reason in my own time, Junius will be called June instead," Elena answered, feeling somewhat guilty that she might have implied that Tatia was immature. She only had Rebekah's biased description of her would-be ancestor for her to fashion, an option from and that be mistaken.

"Listen Tatia I'm sorry I didn't mean to sound so condescending about your age. It was wrong and I'm really sorry." Elena said hoping that she hadn't made a enemy.

"I forgive you. It's just that people are always treating me like I'm a naive child who can't make her own decisions. My parents were especially guilty," Tatia said sadly. "If it weren't for Ayana taking me in after…" By the look in Tatia's haunted eyes, coupled with her own experience with the loss of own parents, her reaction was almost instinctual. Elena pulled Tatia into a sisterly embrace.

"I'm sorry, Tatia. I…I know what it's like to lose your parents," Elena spoke softly. Tatia pulled back and looked meaningfully at her.

"H…How did your parents d… die?" Tatia asked hesitantly.

"They drowned when our car…" Elena stopped when confusion filled Tatia's eyes. "Um think of it as horseless carriage for now. The bridge's roadway was still wet from a recent rain storm and we fell over the side railing into the river below. I was lucky someone saved me in time. Tatia what happened to your parents?" Elena asked ashamed of her growing curiosity. Could it be that she and Tatia shared more similarities than with Katherine, Elena found herself wondering.

"My mother died during child labor with who would've been my baby brother. My father died last winter during one of Mikael Mikaelson's failed punitive actions against Ansel's werewolf pack." Tatia said with a bitter edge in her voice towards the end and Elena found herself trying to discern who Tatia was more upset with Mikael or Ansel.

"So you've been on your own for nearly a year?" Elena found herself asking already mentally chewing herself out for such a tactless question when she most likely already knew the answer. But Tatia surprised her when she actually gave her a weak smile.

"I still live in the dwelling my father had built for our family, and Ayana checks in on me. But if all goes well in the next couple of days, I will be meeting my intended husband-to-be," Tatia spoke rapidly; but it actually wasn't her announcement of her pending nuptials which only made Elena feel there was something deeper going on. From what she could remember, the Mikaelson brothers Elijah and Klaus had supposedly competed for Tatia's attention. Was it already occurring or is it in Tatia's future? Hopefully Ayana found a way of sending her back to her own time.

"Where is Ayana?" Elena yawned, wondering what time it was. She felt like she'd slept at least eight hours, but time travel had apparently short circuited her internal clock.

"She'll be back shortly. She said that she'd needed to collect some additional travel gear and supplies for our journey," Tatia said, smiling at Elena, and she had the oddest sense that there was more meaning in her ancestor's statement.

"Um… What journey?" Elena asked weakly. Tatia opened her mouth to answer when a voice intruded into their discussion.

"Why, we will be departing today and a few days time, if nothing delays us, we will eventually meet up with the newest members of our little settlement, as well as Tatia's future husband," Ayana answered, giving the pair a once over. "Tatia, would you please collect the items I left just outside my spell chamber? Elena and I will start preparing breakfast for the three of us. We have important things to discuss."

Mystic Grill
October 12, 2010

Jeremy resisted the urge to look up from his sketchpad in yet another weary attempt to scope out any familiar faces in the Grill, and thankfully the last time he had done so everything was quiet. At least other than Tyler being annoyingly loud over by the pool table. The restaurant area was his favorite hangout, being relatively clear of the supernatural variety. Well, at least for a little while which was fine with him. He just wanted to temporarily escape from all the supernatural nonsense of his hometown. He didn't know if it was Mystic Falls itself or the fact that Elena seemed to be a magnet for everything of the vampire or werewolf variety. Who knows, just give it time before a coven of witches comes looking for her and her precious blood for some sort of nefarious scheme, Jeremy thought ruefully. Reaching for his blending pencil, he sighed when the air shifted. That only happened when one of them makes an appearance. The real question was who was it this time and what the hell do they want with me, he thought.

Not outright blatantly ignoring the vampire Jeremy instead considered how best to blend the part of his sketch he was laboring over for the last twenty minutes.

"Ahem… Is this seat taken?" A rather distinct British ascent asked. Crap! Jeremy thought. Then it occurred to him to wonder why he'd even bother to ask to sit. Normally he would just do whatever he wanted without anyone saying otherwise. Motioning with his other hand to sit he, continued the last touch up. Feeling the table shift when the Original Hybrid sat across from him, Jeremy forestalled him by holding up a hand. With one final stroke he placed the pen down.

"And…Finished… Sorry about that, but I had to capture on paper how I was envisioning it in my mind. So what do you want Klaus?" Jeremy asked, looking up from his work at the ancient vampire that had taken so much from Elena and his family already. What the hell does he want now? he asked himself.

"Ah… Young Gilbert don't by like that mate I just dropped by for a quick pint or two and noticed the little brother of my doppelgänger sitting all alone. So considering that I'm making inroads with ingratiating myself into your quaint community I figured why the hell not." Klaus smirked. Not for the first time since the second Klaus had intruded into his space, Jeremy wished for white oak stake to be somewhere, preferably within easy reach.

"You do know my sister actually has a name and she isn't your damn doppelgänger!" Jeremy snapped his jaw ticked.

"My mistake I shall endeavor to call her 'my Elena' from here on out then." Klaus smirked obviously enjoying Jeremy's unspoken reaction. "But I'm forgetting the most important thing to share between two mates chatting amongst themselves." Klaus motioned for Jeremy's waiter.

"I'm still under the legal age limit, Klaus." The condescending twitch of Klaus's eyes made Jeremy roll his own eyes in annoyance. "Fine I take a micro brew brown ale then but you'll most likely need to compel her since the Grill's been ticketed for underage drinking in the not so distant past."

Klaus's lips pulled back in a tight smirk, but he still didn't give any indication that he would abide by Jeremy's suggestion. Jeremy drew a sigh of relief when their order was accepted without her even batting an eyelid. There was an uncomfortable silence between them until their drinks finally arrived. Jeremy didn't know what Klaus's game was, but he wouldn't lower his guard with the monster who had sacrificed his sister and aunt. Instead he surprised him by motioning towards his sketchpad with his pint of Guinness.

"May I take a look?" Klaus asked, and Jeremy almost refused before he found himself being somewhat curious as to the reason why Klaus the Original Hybrid of all people. With some trepidation, he slid his sketch pad over before taking a careful sip of his own drink. He sat in silence, nursing his brown ale as his table mate slowly flipped through his work. The budding artist inside of him watched with bated breath as if the person opposite him was a world renowned art critic.

"Do you Oil Paint?"

"Sorry… Um… No. For right now it's just been charcoal, pencil, or oil pastels. I've thought about trying, but that would be quite an investment of material and such," Jeremy responded, not really sure of his sudden need in revealing so much of himself to an immortal he ultimately despised.

"You should give it a try at some point. I prefer working in oils myself. These are quite impressive for someone of your youth. Have you been drawing for very long?" Klaus asked after pausing to take a long pull on his Guinness. Jeremy somehow managed not to choke on his drink; he wasn't expecting this sort of conversation.

"Uh Thanks," Jeremy responded, trying to collect his thoughts. The alcohol wasn't helping, but he thought he should have had a higher tolerance than this. "I've been dabbling for as long as I can remember. I…I stopped when my and Elena's parents died and then again…." Jeremy trailed off. The awkwardness returned with a vengeance and the two of them sat in companionable silence as they both finished their respective drinks. Taking the initiative, Jeremy was the first to break the silence.

"Klaus, how about we get to the real reason why you're here. If this is about where my sister is? Me and Elena's friends have no idea where she is, and before you ask, I don't consider either Stefan or Damon fit in the friend category, not after everything they have done. Even more so after what Stefan tried to do to Elena…" Jeremy growled, not caring about letting the venom in his voice to show to a hated enemy.

"Ah… So perhaps it isn't just the old Petrova fire that runs through my Elena's veins, but maybe a little of the Gilbert bloodline has found its way into the latest doppelgänger," Klaus suggested. Jeremy damped down on his retort he so wanted to utter aloud. Klaus' expression changed to all business.

"Your sister and I had come to an amicable arrangement, which I should point out as the sole reason you're still upright and breathing. Although she is indisposed at the moment, and thus she can't fulfill her other side of the bargain, I will not consider her in breach of it."

Jeremy didn't know what to say. He had suspected that she had done something, but he wasn't comfortable enough to hear it from Elena's tormentor. He knew that she still had nightmares about the sacrifice; she'd woken both he and Alric for weeks afterwards and had been vehemently opposed to Damon's suggestion that he compel her to ease her suffering.

"I just wish that there was a way to get all you vampires out of my sister and my lives," Jeremy muttered, only catching his slip up when the Original Hybrid's lips twitched into a smile. Alarm bells started going off inside Jeremy's skull as if warning him to slowly step back from the figurative minefield he had inadvertently blundered inside of. However, Klaus's response was not what he expected.

"What if I told you that I believe I had a possible means of doing that for you? Well, in partiality with regards to myself and a select few. It goes without saying that I will need your sister's doppelgänger blood to create my hybrid army, and to do that she must remain human. Wouldn't you agree with me, at least, that if the Salvatore brothers stay in your sister's life she will either end up dead? Or worse, turned into a vampire? Either way she is going to end up getting hurt in the crossfire between those two."

Jeremy was angry, and not with Klaus. He was angry with himself and damned if found that, in part, he was agreeing with Klaus of all people. Ever since he had learned about the vampires that for whatever reason plagued Mystic Falls. One of his greatest unspoken fears was that one fateful day in the not so distant future, he would either be awoken from slumber or come home to find his sister waiting on their front porch for him to invite her inside because she'd been turned. It made him sick to think about, considering he knew first hand that she would never want that life; and although the thought had crossed his own mine with regards to himself, he would never want that kind of life for her.

"Ok… humor me then. Even if you could find a way of keeping the number of vampires in our lives to a minimum there is just something about this town that seems to attract the supernatural to it. I love my sister but knowing her she would probably fall for the next fanged member of your kind that crosses her path. If I didn't know any better its like its in her DNA."

Klaus didn't say anything. He took the opportunity to get another refill, which thankfully he accepted Jeremy's polite but firm refusal to get another for himself as well.

"If I really wanted to, I could take your sister and simply disappear into the night, although you'd inevitably try to locate us in a most foolish attempt to rescue her. I would really prefer not to go through the hassle. Instead I have a much more preferable proposal, if you're willing to listen," Klaus said after taking a drink from his newly refilled pint glass.

"I haven't said no or accepted your terms so please propose away." Jeremy responded, thankful once more that he was back on vervain again.

"What if I told you I could quite easily purchase several thousand acres in any locale of you and your sister's choosing, far away from Mystic Falls. Together you both could build the Gilbert Family Estate of your own, for you and all future generations of the Petrova bloodline to preferably flourish on. Since humans naturally want some degree of independence, I can provide more than adequate seed money for rather sizable investments for your family. It would be entirely yours; but I would highly suggest that you do listen to my suggestions on types of investment to make. I've been doing this for quite some time. I would expect that Elena find a suitable husband and continue her bloodline. Rest assured I would only care about knowing of her future female descendants, of course. Now while you're considering that, take into account that after the initial setup of your new family estate you wouldn't even need to have my looming presence. I wouldn't even need to be present for the blood donations my Elena has already promised me. I would naturally check in, say, every decade or so."

Jeremy silently wished he had not finished his drink earlier, already regretting not taking him up on his offer for a refill drink. It would've given him time to think. Part of him, on simple principle, wanted to reject it outright, but even he understood that despite how either he or Elena felt the supernatural was an integral part of their lives now like it or not. The question is how would they as siblings navigate through an uncertain future.

"Okay Klaus. You probably won't tell me, but why do you even need an army of hybrids at your command? I assume you have a list of possible suitors for my sister already lined up waiting for her, too. What makes you so sure that another Petrova doppelgänger will make an appearance in five hundred years or so? After all, didn't you break the curse your mother placed on you? Most importantly, what is to prevent you from outright changing our agreement in a generation or two? Elena and I would be long gone and have no say over how our family is treated," Jeremy said after considering the line of questions he wanted an answer too. Klaus didn't speak. Instead he peered into his glass, watching the bubbles rise to the surface before looking back up at him.

"What I ultimately do with my hybrids doesn't really concern you, but they are going to protect my family and by extension yours as well. As matter of fact, I do have the starting of a select list of candidates for your sister's hand, and I will even promise not to use compulsion on either them or your sister. Trust me, there will be another doppelgänger," Klaus said firmly before leaning closer to peer at the younger Gilbert.

"Here is a tidbit of information that not many people know or even realize but only now are starting to." Alarmed Jeremy interrupted before Klaus could continue.

"What do you mean 'only now are starting to'? What have you done, Klaus?" Jeremy demanded.

"Has it never occurred to you, or that of your friends, why my mother had picked Tatia's blood to turn my family into vampires? Then once again as the single most important spell component to forge and eventually break my curse. Or how your sister's blood is vital for the successful creation of my hybrids? Your sister, my Elena, has virtually one of the potentially powerful untapped magical bloodlines in recorded history. Where or how it was started has long since been lost, going back to the age of antiquity. There may even be a long forgotten curse on the Petrova family to lock away their magical gift. I only found these bits of knowledge after centuries of digging. Back when I was trying to track down where Katerina may have gone after her betrayal. It should be obvious that the supernatural world has heard that I've broken my curse, and although they don't know how I'm making more hybrids, they will eventually find out."

"My sister has magic. Why hasn't Bonnie ever said anything?" Jeremy's voice was strained. Had his former girlfriend been hiding something from them, all he wondered.

"Because it's untapped, and since you didn't ask, all the would-be suitors on my list are in fact witches, and any potential union may potentially help unlock it in future generations. As the existence of a living doppelgänger of the Petrova bloodline becomes more widely known, it is only a matter of time before other supernaturals come looking for her. Now, can you live with me or would you rather contend with the potential unknown variety?" Klaus paused, finishing his drink before adding. "Did you forget your last question?"

"Uh… What last question?" he asked, not willing to admit aloud that he had already forgotten whatever it was. Jeremy was still trying to deal with what had been said earlier.

"Jeremy, you are right. After your sister has lived a full human life, my near constant presence in your family affairs would naturally diminish and even more so as the centuries pass before the next doppelgänger makes her appearance once more. But I have the perfect ideal candidate to act as the steward for your family," Klaus answered with a trace of mirth in his voice.

"Who do you have in mind?" Jeremy found himself asking.

"Why, you, of course," Klaus beamed and held up his hand to deter any protest. It was only partially successful. "I'm not saying that I would force immortality upon you. I would rather deal with someone who has weighed the pros and cons themselves. Nor am I suggesting it happened now. We could revisit this in another ten years or so. That should give you time to have a family of your own and to grow into adulthood. I should add that having a Original as a sire has quite a few perks compared to someone like Damon or even Katerina. You would be naturally stronger than either Salvatore. Katerina might be challenge, but it really depends on other factors," Klaus finished and sat back in his booth, spreading his arms across the back. Jeremy was lost for words and still hadn't found his voice when Klaus stood up and pulled out his wallet, placing a crisp hundred dollar bill on the table.

"You have a lot to think about as well as the daunting task of finding your lovely sister. Tyler, I think you should make sure that Mister Gilbert makes it safely home and afterwards I need you to find me," Klaus said, knowing that his hybrid had been eavesdropping on their discussion, then strolled away humming a tune. While he had been forced to expel his remaining hybrids, he still could have them working outside the town's boundaries. He had every intention of ensuring that the number of animal attacks occurring would only increase in frequency, and who knew his wolf side had been demanding release. So why shouldn't he indulge that side of him, he thought as he pushed the door open to the world beyond.

A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A

Ayana watched as her two young charges busied themselves with their preparations for the trip. Elena had accepted the change of clothing before changing into a dark green traveling dress. Ayana was relieved that the footwear that Tatia had brought with her, as she had been requested to, appeared to fit her counterpart well. She knew based on prior experience it would normally take her three days to reach the campsite for their future neighbors, and in Tatia's case she will finally meet the man her parents had arranged a marriage between.

"Tatia I believe we'll need to pack enough food for the three of us for about ten days," Ayana instructed, then turned her attention towards Elena. "Elena, would you please fill our water skins from the water cistern?" She'd already shown it to the girl the previous night. "I'll be rolling up our bedding then putting it over there with our packs over by the entryway."

Ayana studied the pair of young girls before bending to her own task. She didn't want to say anything that might sound too discouraging to Elena, but she honestly didn't know if the latest doppelgänger would be able to keep up the pace they needed to maintain before nightfall tonight. The weight of their shared supplies and gear was concerning, and she really didn't know how much experience Elena had with being outside amongst nature.

"Elena we are going to need to maintain a good pace so we can reach our first campsite before nightfall," Ayana spoke aloud. She privately hoped that she was not allowing her concern to be too apparent. Elena looked up from the water cistern and smiled back at someone that she barely knew for less than twenty four hours.

"I won't let either you or Tatia down. May I ask, is there a specific reason that we need to get to a particular campsite? Can't we just stop anywhere?" Elena froze when a possible reason occurred to her. Ayana finished one blanket roll and tried her best in offering a reassuring smile.

"We won't have to worry about the full moon for another ten days, provided we leave this morning. It should only take four days to reach our destination. But I just wanted to give us enough time, just in case we have any delays with our latest arrivals."

Ayana would be lying to herself if she didn't feel a measure of guilt for probing the young doppelgänger's mind. But her own curiosity and prompting from the spirits of nature had finally won out. Elena's memories of future events had truly been disturbing, and her first instinct was to do all that she could to prevent such a future from even occurring; but the spirits that guided her throughout her life had told her otherwise. Instead, they had instructed her to help Elena in however she decided to act with regards to the future events. Ayana honestly didn't know how to feel about it, either. She had watched the horrors that Elena Gilbert had endured prior to her journey into the past. She honestly didn't understand how a young person could still have so much compassion within themselves, and it had been a humbling experience she knew deep in her heart. The only frustrating thing was that she was going to finally have to share her knowledge of the Petrova Bloodline to her friend Esther Mikaelson. In what would eventually become known as the Bennett Witch Bloodline, they had been the self appointed guardians of the Petrova family, more so when a living doppelgänger was discovered. Also, if the echo of things meant to come to pass were true, she would also need to weaken the protective wards surrounding the one grimoire she'd long denied her friend access to. It wouldn't be easy, but she needed to do it in such a way that Esther wouldn't be the wiser and suspect that her friend was setting her up. Still, it was galling that after nearly a thousand years, the Immortality Spell her family line had guarded and hidden away for so long may yet be used once more. That thought alone was terrifying, and it didn't help that it would be Ayana Bennett that had allowed it.
