Painkillers
Senku looked up from his plans. The construction of the Perseus was progressing. They were on schedule and they he kept it up, they might be able to finish a few days early. He looked at his friends who were trying as hard as they can to get the boat built. He frowned. Kohaku was not there. Come to think about it, it had been a while since he had seen her. He saw Chrome walk past him.
"Hey Chrome! Do you know where Kohaku is ?"
Chrome looked around, as if looking for the girl. He shook his head.
"No, I haven't seen her today."
He left to continue his work. Senku put away his plans and went in search of Kohaku. It was not in her habit of disappearing without a word. He found her several yards away. She was sitting under a tree, sheltered from the sun and the noise of the camp. She had her eyes closed and was massaging her temples. Senku approached her.
"Kohaku," he said softly.
She narrowed her eyes as she looked at him.
"Senku?"
"Is everything alright ?"
She nodded and smiled to show him that she was fine.
"I just have a little headache, but it will pass."
He squatted down in front of her and looked at her intently. Kohaku blushed at this closeness, but Senku ignored it. In the wink of an eye, he could see her symptoms. An intense headache and the light that bothered her. She had a migraine. He remembered that Byakuya had it too. But in modern times, there were medicines to relieve people who suffered from it.
"The headache you have is called a migraine. It can make you very sick and take a long time to pass."
"Sometimes when I sleep, it gets better."
Senku could not let her continue to be in pain while waiting for her to fall asleep.
"Try to rest," he said. "I'll bring you something to relieve you."
She nodded and closed her eyes. She curled her legs up against her frame and wrapped her arms around her knees, she rested her head on it. Senku stood up and headed for his lab. He put several jars on the table. Fortunately, he had all the ingredients he needed to create a painkiller. He heated them, mixed them and crushed them to powder. He put the powder in a packet and took it to Kohaku. She had not moved and looked even more in pain. He gently touched her shoulder. She looked up at him. He handed her the packet.
"What is that ?" She asked.
"It's a painkiller. This will make the migraine pass faster."
Without waiting, she took the packet and swallowed the contents. If it had been anyone, she would have refused, but not Senku. Apart from her sister and her father, he was the only person she really trusted. Senku sat next to her and leaned against the tree.
"Don't you have work to do ?" she asked.
He shook his head.
"I'm just staying to check if the painkiller is working."
Kohaku could not help smiling. If there was one thing she was sure of, it was that the painkiller Senku had made was successful. He never doubted science. He stayed with her to make sure she was fine and that she was not alone.
"Thank you Senku."
After a few minutes, Senku felt Kohaku rest her head on his shoulder. He looked at her and saw that she had fallen asleep. If he moved, he might wake her up. He told himself that he was going to stay with her a little longer. After all, he was ahead of the boat's construction, so he could stay with her for a few hours. He closed his eyes and enjoyed this moment of calm.
The end
