"I'm sorry, Witch. I believe I must have somehow misheard your agreement to my request, now would you care to repeat it?" Klaus asked; his voice was anything but pleasant. Bonnie didn't care. She wasn't going to do what the bastard had just so blatantly ordered her to do. She, like her friends, was still reeling from the fact that despite the contrary, one of her best friends was now a Original Vampire; everything that had come out was just too much for her right now. They had fought so hard to keep Elena alive only for this to happen to her and it was heartbreaking. Whatever happened, she was not going to let that monster inside and they needed to find a means of rescuing their friend. They did something to her, she was sure of it.

"I said no, do you need for me to find a dog whistle and give it a try? Then maybe you'll understand me better?" Bonnie said in her most sarcastic voice she could manage so early in the morning. She resisted the urge to check her phone for the time. It was a good thing that they had already gotten the boundary spell in place as there was no telling how things would have turned out. If they hadn't taken precautions, the conversation with the homicidal hybrid would be very different.

"Oh, I think I like her already, brother," Kol said, giving Bonnie an appraising look which naturally made her want to give him the worst aneurysm she could coax out of her magical reserves. Unfortunately it had taken a lot out of her creating the boundary around the boarding house. Still, she might have just enough to give at least one of them a massive headache. The real question was who?

"You and your infernal fascinations with witches. Kol, need I remind you what happened the last time?" Klaus chided his younger brother. Kol's temper flared, leaving Bonnie to wonder if it wasn't for his other siblings present how might he have reacted differently.

"No, how could I forget since I woke up wearing the very same clothing you and Elijah daggered me at a bloody Christmas party!" Kol said heatedly. Bonnie could tell based on the body language of the three Originals there was something more about that particular family drama.

"Please, you two, don't we have more important matters to contend with?" Elena pleaded. Klaus glanced over at the person who Bonnie once considered her friend. Is she still her friend? Caroline didn't seem that upset, but there was just too much going on around her for Bonnie to really think straight. It didn't help that she was exhausted and unlike her immortal friends needed sleep.

"Right you are Ella," Klaus beamed, then returned his attention back to Bonnie. Who, as much as she wished otherwise, was still standing on the other side of the barrier for which she was thankful for since she both feared and hated that same Original Hybrid.

"It seems once again your annoying witchy interference is getting in the way, witch. But unlike the last time, I have my family with me this go around- not just my lovely sister. And if it's still too hard to accept Elena is now a part of that same family. So lower your blasted spell!"

"NO!" Bonnie said and a part of her wondered if she was saying 'no' to his demand of her or to the hybrid's statement about Elena now being a part of these monsters. In a way, he was right, not only was she on the other side with them but even Bonnie could see how at ease Elena seemed in their mere presence. The girl she once knew would be terrified even standing next to Klaus or his sister, but now?

"You will come to regret saying that to me!" Klaus growled. But to her surprise and then consternation it was the supposed Nobel Original that stepped in to keep things from boiling over. It almost seemed like Elena letting them speak for her, but the Elena she knew would never let that happen. Did they do something to her?

"Miss Bennett, I apologize for my brother's temper, but he is right. You are keeping us from our family which for now is all we want," Elijah said and Bonnie wanted to believe him, but he had betrayed them before.

"Why should we even trust any of you! Especially you of all of them! You betrayed Elena and us when you didn't kill your brother like you said you would!" Jeremy jumped into the fray. Bonnie couldn't help noticing how the person she once knew as Elena Gilbert winced at her brother's harsh but still well deserved choice of words.

"Jer, please. I know you are still mad at him for what happened with Aunt Jenna, Uncle John, and myself. But he did it for family. If it were you, would you not have done the same thing if you had been in his place?" Elena pleaded. Jeremy made to turn his back on her before changing his mind and piercing his sister with an accusing glare.

"You're defending him!?"

"How can I not Jer? Like it or not, he is my husband and the father of my children. Who we just want to have returned safely back to us! Jeremy please neither Lijah, nor I have seen our babies for over ten centuries. I just want them back!" Elena pleaded. Couldn't they see that she was ultimately just a desperate mother trying to get to her children? Her eyes were threatening to cloud over with still unshed tears. Bonnie felt for her but dropping the barrier was not possible, not with how she had tied it to the phase of the moon, but she wasn't going to tell anyone including those standing outside her salt line.

This time Jeremy did turn away but before he could even start to walk back inside Elijah spoke in a firm but with a hint of desperation in his voice. "Please at least do us a courtesy of perhaps sending us a few pictures from your phone?"

Bonnie watched as her former boyfriend seemed to struggle with himself and even she had to admit that she was conflicted as well. Keeping a child from their parents was a hard pill to swallow even for her.

"Fine, I know that Elena doesn't have her phone, considering we found it after your disappearance. What is your number?" Jeremy said, not without a look that he just bit into something he detested. They waited until Elijah had given his number and Jeremy verified that he received the Originals text.

"I guess I will go and check on my little niece and nephew then. Although this is something I didn't think would happen for quite a while," Jeremy said, tucking his phone back into his jeans.

"Thank you Jer, You don't know how much this means to us. I… I really mean it," Elena said, not bothering to hold back her own tears now.

"What are brothers for Lena… I'm just glad you're really back," he said, choking back a sob of his own before racing off back to the boarding house. Leaving just Bonnie and Stefan Salvatore to face the family of Original Vampires. Already suspecting, no sane being would ever consider that predicament ever being the wisest choice for a person to make.

Mikaelson Mansion

Who was it of her to refuse the literal invitation to partake of her nemesis' exquisite selection of fine liquor, Katherine mused as she rifled through the selection of bottles. As much as she hated to admit, Klaus did have excellent taste in alcohol and impressive displays of wealth. After being compelled to remain at the Mikaelson's mansion, she had no other choice and that terrified her. Specifically, considering she thought she was safe from her regular consumption of vervain. She made a mental note to see if she could find any on the premises before they returned. How had Elena Gilbert compelled her? More disturbing, other than the fact she was married to Elijah now, was the simple truth that she had used magic on her. If she was an Original Vampire like the rest of them, it was hard to ignore with the clear evidence to collaborate it. How could she perform magic as well?

When she first arrived at the mansion, she hadn't initially made for the liquor cabinet as her Doppelgänger had suggested instead she explored the mansion. Knowing it was better to get the lay of the land before indulging in her needs, she was a survivor, after all.

Klaus might be many things, but he didn't spare any expense on the mansion. Besides the broken furniture in one of the two dining rooms she found, so far the layout was impressive. The kitchen was state of the art and had a walk-in refrigeration unit stocked to the shelves with blood bags. Helping herself to her preferred blood type, she continued her exploration of the first floor. She found a large ballroom that could easily hold several hundred guests comfortably. Then there was an art studio with dozens of oil paintings in various stages of completion. There was even a basement, but other than taking a step or two down into what was no doubt a dungeon, she instead moved to the second floor where she found the bedrooms. Other than the suite of rooms reserved for the original family there were at least two dozen guest suites on the same floor.

Curious, she explored each of the Mikaelson's apartments. The Eldest, Finn if she recalled correctly as she only knew of him from her friend Sage, had a nice room suite but nothing that gave her any hint of who the ancient vampire was. Sage rarely talked about her lover and when she did, it made Katherine want to vomit. Klaus's room was part bedroom and part art studio, as if he needed another one it seemed, and if she had to guess it was the largest suite in the entire building. Elijah's apartment, and if what he said was true, Elena's as well was impressive and suited his personality. The impressive collection of books which, after opening another door she found entire room filled with tomes, were sure to impress his wife. She couldn't help not to inhale his intoxicating scent of sandalwood and old spices that greeted her nose, nor could she resist the urge to purr in contentment. How had her dull as dishwater doppelgänger won Elijah was beyond her. Granted, he wasn't Stefan or even Damon for that matter, but a part of her always considered the ancient vampire hers.

Pushing that thought out of her mind she explored the remaining rooms quickly, only turning her nose up at how feminine Rebekah Mikaelson's room was. She never met her either, only seeing her from afar the two occasions they were in the same room. It still bothered her how at one time Stefan had been so enamored with her.

Moving back to the main floor she found the aforementioned liquor cabinet and just as she was about to make her selection she was suddenly slammed up against the wall, breaking the framed picture in the process. A flash of red hair and a snarl from the vampire gripping her throat was all she had to go by as to the identity of her attacker. Still, Katherine didn't resist. Instead she managed to smile at her attacker, which only seemed to enrage the older vampire more.

"Where is he!?"

"Hello Sage, nice to see you too? Care for a drink? Klaus is paying," Katherine miraculously gasped out despite being nearly choked to death by her supposed friend, or was it better to think of her as a temporary ally? Katherine had gained and lost so many people through the centuries it was becoming hard to keep count.

Sage only lessened her grip but still wasn't going to ease up on Katherine much to her irritation. Why people greeted her this way was rather annoying. Not that she ever expected a real answer from anyone.

"You said he'd be here. Now Katerina, tell me: where is he?" Sage pressed.

"They are all out on what I guess you'd call a family outing. They will be back I swear."

"Take me to them now!"

"I… I can't!"

Something in how Katherine had phrased it must have finally registered with the red head vampire because she, without warning, released her hold, allowing her body to slump against the wall for support. Sage studied her would be ally with a studious expression before frowning, obviously not liking her own conclusions.

"I thought you vervained yourself. How did they compel you to stay here?" Sage asked. Katherine, for once, didn't blame her; it could take hours to properly bleed a vampire to free them from the effects of protections that vervain grant regular vampires.

"I'm still trying to figure that out myself. Care to discuss it over a drink? He is paying, after all," Katherine smirked. From their discussions over the last century she knew how much Finn's lover detested his half brother almost as much as she did.

"That really depends on if he has any decent Tequila," Sage smirked back. That decided, they set off in search of their preferred alcohol. Hopefully she would be too drunk to answer any of their questions once they returned. Besides, knowing Klaus she would be a guest in his dungeon soon enough. It would only delay the inevitable but a five hundred year old vampire had needs, and hers were screaming at her to get black out drunk as soon as she could.

Salvatore Boarding House

Jeremy was still reeling when he made his way through first foyer then the den where Damon and his vampire friend where, from as best as he could tell, they were apparently commiserating over a nearly empty bottle of Bourbon. He should have known better than to try sneaking past a pair of vampires, inebriated or not. His only defense was his family ring and the fact he, like the others, were dosing themselves with vervain daily. He wasn't going to make the same mistake as he had before all this madness had descended into his hometown. Not for the first time had he wondered how things might have been if his sister had actually drowned with their parents instead of being rescued by a passing vampire.

"Hey are they still out there?" Damon's slurred question brought him short as he tried going past them.

"Yep, Klaus is being his usual dickhead self. So really no surprise there. Nor should it be a surprise that he wants Bonnie to drop her protective barrier around this place."

Sobering up, which almost made Jeremy consider if Damon was fake being drunk to get answers- not that it should surprise him considering how many times Damon had actually killed him. Hell, if his sister could travel in time and get married into the very same family that eventually kills her human self in the future, then anything was possible, right?

"She is not going to do it, is she?" Damon's voice grated on Jeremy's nerves but he could see his point. He did his best to reassure him that Bonnie wasn't so easily manipulated by the likes of the Original Hybrid.

"Good, that was all we needed right now. We might have to make contingency plans if they find a means of applying pressure on our resident witch. Where is her dad? Klaus might use him to apply pressure on his daughter."

"From what I know he is out of town on business. It's been like that ever since Abby came home. Jamie told me that they had gotten into a fight before Bonnie's Dad threw some suitcases into his car before driving off," Jeremy informed the slightly less drunk vampire. He didn't feel right sharing that particular detail Jamie had told him in private, but Damon was right; Klaus would find some way of applying pressure. Which only made him worry about their friend Matt and his legal guardian, Ric.

"Come on little Gilbert, sit, have a drink with us, you know what they say about misery and company."

"Gilbert? I thought I might have misheard," Lorenzo asked, having apparently been listening to Damon and Jeremy. It bothered him how deceptive vampires could be sometimes.

"Sorry I just want to get some sleep, maybe later."

"I insist," Damon said, leveling Jeremy with a stare that made his insides clench.

"Do it Jer. I've seen that look before and unless you want to wake up from a broken neck again, I strongly suggest humoring him, at least for now," Anna said, having until now watched the tableau without a single comment.

Jeremy sighed and moved to sit on the couch opposite Damon. He even accepted the half full tumbler of Bourbon on the rocks just like his preferred manner of consuming it. Most towns have adolescent drinking issues like anywhere else Jeremy half expected everyone his age in Mystic Falls would have a bottle or two if they actually had any idea what was really going on in their town.

"Thanks, I think I can only handle one of these right now," Jeremy said after taking an appreciative sip. Give it to Damon; he might be a dick but he did know his preferred drink.

"I'm not trying to be a dick man, I- I'm just trying to process everything, you know," Damon offered his admission, surprising not only Jeremy but Lorenzo as well based on his rather stunned expression.

"Me too, this is some really messed up shit. I don't know if I don't believe it or just don't want to," Jeremy sighed, taking a deeper sip of his drink. The amber liquid burned on its way down. The slight burn helped.

"I don't believe it. I think they are just messing with our heads again. Hell, it could be Katherine with, I don't know maybe makeup or- what? It wouldn't be the first time she's pretended to be your sister," Damon huffed, draining his glass before standing up and heading to his private stash.

Jeremy had to admit the thought had crossed his mind, but then she knew the underlying reason he broke his arm when he was only six. Neither he nor Elena had ever told anyone that, not even their parents or friends. It was something they both swore to take to their graves. He took another sip before he recalled what his sister had been telling Damon before he came back inside.

"Damon?"

"Hmmm?"

"What did she mean when she said you confused her with Katherine on some roadway in the middle of the night while waiting for our parents?" Jeremy asked.

"Umm… Well, you see that was where I met your sister the first time. I was further down the road, laying in the roadway, waiting for a passerby to come around when I heard her talking on her phone. At first I thought I was dreaming, but then I saw her standing there and I called out to her, thinking she was Katherine."

"Wait, but that would mean-"

"That I met your sister before my brother. Color me surprised; I had no idea that Stefan was lurking about," Damon shook his head ruefully. Might things have worked out differently if he had saved her instead of his brother? But even considering that made Jeremy ask his next question, not even attempting to hide his anger.

"Did you cause-" he started, but Damon cut him off with a raised finger over his refilled glass.

"No, I did not kill your parents to get to her. I wasn't even near the bridge. I left after I compelled her to forget me. I needed time to think; seeing her had brought back good and bad memories of Katherine."

"Okay. It's just weird to think that both of you were in town and you each met my sister within hours of each other. What were you doing laying in the middle of the road for? What?" Jeremy asked. Maybe the hard liquor was getting to him, but he didn't like how both vampires, technically three if he counted his ghost girlfriend, were all looking at him as if he was an idiot. It didn't help when each of them took their time with him, showing the error of his ways.

"Seriously? Do I have to spell it out for you or draw a diagram? I was hunting," Damon said first.

"I've never tried that technique but I'm a little rusty in the hunting department. But that sounds like an interesting technique," Lorenzo added.

"Jer, it was one of Katherine Pierce's favorite hunting tricks. I saw her showing off once to Damon back when he was still human," Anna explained. He had come to appreciate her insight into the supernatural world his family was irrevocable apart of now. The mere notion that he was an uncle and both his niece and nephew were technically ten centuries older yet for all practically infants was starting to give him a headache and he was sure that it wasn't the alcohol. Unlike his sister, he had or did have a higher constitution.

Deciding that he had heard enough for the night, he finished off the remainder of his glass and, without any unnecessary preamble Jeremy headed upstairs. Feeling the slight buzz, he was almost tempted to find an empty room, but then he remembered his promise and sighed. Pulling out his phone, he tapped lightly on the closed door.

"Come in, Jer," Caroline's bare whisper came from behind the door.

Salvatore Boarding House
November 2, 2010

Elena worried her lower lip as she listened to each member of her family in turn try to cajole her friend into lowering the barrier. Elijah and to her surprise, Finn, who hardly ever talked to her before they were changed, each had come to her defense. It was her other Mikaelson siblings that were the problem. They hadn't revealed why Klaus wanted Tatia back, and apparently for good reason, too.

"So Stefan mate, I would like to know if our lovely sister was with us back in the past, just how did you convince my dear brother to make him send his mutts away like you did? I must say I'm rather impressed," Kol smiled at Elena's former boyfriend. It had taken her some time while in the past to come to terms that while she still loved him, she was no longer in love with him. She knew that they would need to talk but now wasn't the right time for it.

"Yes Stefan, please do. Although I might have a good idea how you accomplished your little maskirovka. No? I guess I'll just add that to the list when I get Katerina into my little dungeon," Klaus drawled humorlessly as he paced a portion of the salt line, before turning back to them.

"Nik, please, you're not helping," Elena muttered, only loud enough for him to hear. This wasn't something she had been looking forward to and if she was being honest with herself, she hated that her family was being pitted against her friends she grew up with. As dysfunctional as her family was, she was a Mikaelson now and had been for quite some time. In her heart she already knew that as Elena Mikaelson she would do everything up to murdering someone if they tried to permanently harm her family. Astral Projection had given her the ability. It had been taxing on her and sometimes took weeks if not months to recover, but she did what she needed to and every time she cried with every life she took. The fact she killed recently was no exception and sooner than later she would have to do something about it.

"Ella, I beg to differ. But perhaps you're right it is best we get back to the matter at hand. You're only delaying the inevitable, you do know that right?" Klaus said, looking directly at Bonnie.

Since returning to the living, Elena had noticed that thanks to her ability to do magic and what little she could practice while under the effects of the stone dagger it wasn't until now that she could see the wisps of magic tendrils that permeated everything. For the most part, she ignored them and hoped that she might be able to talk with Bonnie about this new phenomena she was experiencing. A part of her wondered if witches could see what she did or was this just another attribute of her Petrova heritage. Ayana had said that her powers would continue to refine as time passed. The groan of pain coming from Klaus who was both kneeling and clutching his head in obvious pain drew her attention back. She hated that she might have missed something she could have prevented.

"Bonnie stop!"

"No! Elena, he threatened me and members of my family. He might kill me but he will know that he went up against a Bennett Witch!" Bonnie hissed and to Elena's amazement she watched as the apparent visible tendrils of her friend's magic wrapped more tightly around her brother-in-law's head. She had never seen anything of that nature before. But maybe it was because she was in Astral Form at the time?

"Bonnie please. I swear I will not let him touch anyone in your family, just stop!" Elena pleaded. When her friend seemed to initially refuse she started to gather her magic, but quickly let the tendrils of magic drift away when to her astonishment Bonnie dropped her spell.

"I'm only doing this because you are my friend and while I'm still unsure where you stand, I know you and you've never broken your word to me. Don't start now," Bonnie warned.

"I'm sure you'd be surprised or perhaps disappointed with regard to my sister, Bonnie," Rebekah said and Elena wanted to slap her forehead or maybe snap her own neck but that might be taking things a little too far even for her.

"Bekah, once again you're not helping. Bonnie, if you're not willing to lower the barrier perhaps you could at least let me see my children," Elena said, her heart skipping a beat when Bonnie gave her a sympathetic look but shook her head, sending her heart crashing to the earth if not for her reason for denying it.

"I… I can't right now. It took a lot out of me setting this up. But if you come back in a few days with a vial of your blood, I can add you to the access wards."

Klaus started to speak, but Elena cut him off with a glare. "I agree, but I would like for my husband to be added as well."

"Sorry Lena, I trust you, but I and the others don't trust him. Come back in three days. I should be ready to go again," Bonnie said apologetically and thanks to her hearing she didn't hear her friend's heart skip denoting a lie. Elena looked at Elijah who had his usual stoic expression, but she could see the pain of not seeing their children but he also understood her friend's hesitation as well. Undeserved as it was, they didn't have very much room to negotiate with either, which only made both parents feel utterly useless.

"Very well miss Bennett, my wife and I will be back in three days time. Understand this, the safety and well being of our children is your responsibility," Elijah warned, giving her friend a slight nod of his head. Elena pleaded with her eyes aimed at both of her friends that they understand what her husband meant. A dark voice in her head already knew the answer to what she would do if either Eirik or Astrid were intentionally harmed, and it terrified her compassionate side. Before she was changed she would never even consider anything of that nature. At least she hoped so, but could she live with the aftermath was the question.

Mikaelson Mansion
November 2, 2010

Elena did feel a measure of guilt for having requested just prior to their trip back to the mansion that Elijah and she wanted to travel alone. It meant that both Kol and Finn had to deal with Klaus's infamous temper on the ride back, but they at least agreed. They'd had hardly any time alone together.

"Are you okay?" Elena asked, glancing over as Elijah took a turn faster than she would've.

"No, I'm not Elena, Sorry it is not you my love. I… I'm angry. We are the strongest predators, supernatural or otherwise, and yet I can't help but to feel so helpless," Elijah said and for Elena the pained expression of her normally stoic husband was too much for her to bear.

Reaching out, she took his right hand into hers to bring it to her lips. "I know love. I… miss them so much! It's been so hard. The first thing I wanted to do was to see them when I regained consciousness the very first time. But then when I found I couldn't penetrate the spell Ayana and Esther placed around the chamber I went off in search of you and everyone else," Elena tilted her head peering at her handsome husband she couldn't help not to smile taking him in.

"Would you believe I found both you and Nik in England of all places? Forgive me but was it really necessary to take on airs of the courtly life Lijah, or should I say Lord Elijah?" Elena smiled at him, the mirth in her eyes was enough for him to know she was only teasing him.

"Well, my Kærasta, it was a terrible shame you weren't there. If you had been with us, you would have been Lady Elena," Elijah smiled back at her and she would have been lost in his brown eyes if he hadn't needed to pay some attention to the road. Not that either one of them would die but knowing her brother-in-law would throw a fit if the SUV was totaled.

"I would have liked that… Lijah I know we have a lot to talk about, but never forget I love you and have never stopped even when we were separated or with your memories of me suppressed."

"I know… And you never forget that I will always love you, too."

"Do you want to know the worst part of all this? I have been both hoping for and dreading the very moment I woke up after Mikael drove his sword into me," Elena laughed in self resignation just as they made the final turn into their family's property. She had long ago adjusted to the fact that she was a Mikaelson now. If she ever visited 2104 Maple Street, she would need to be invited inside at some point. She'd, out of necessity and for sake of mind for her brother's security, have to transfer ownership of the Gilbert family home and as much as it pains her the family lake house where she had so many fond memories of her parents.

"You don't have to say it, love."

"Don't I?" Elena wiped an errant tear away. "Elijah, some of the very people that I grew up with may soon look at me as if I'm a traitor or that I've switched sides, if some of them aren't already thinking that. Ever since Nik's return to Mystic Falls they have been planning to take him down. As much as I love them, this is my family; egomaniac our brother is, I won't stand by and let them hurt him or us. Like both of you I will fight for the family. I just have no idea what Damon or Stefan Salvatore will do. I know they think they are trying to save me but-"

"Things have changed," Elijah finished for her with a sad grimace. Of all of them, Elena knew that her husband would understand her anxiety. Rebekah would be supportive however she treated friendships differently than Elena did. Elena also was cognizant that her sister had few friends, many of them human and few eventually turned into vampires, but with her former father-in-law chasing them around the world Rebekah had to out of necessity learn to leave friendships behind her.

"Exactly. It doesn't help that Stefan was my former boyfriend and Damon, well, is just Damon," Elena sighed, gripping his hand in hers. "Do you know it took me at least a full century to accept that Damon's obsession with me was in part because he loves me. He didn't want to lose me and had no faith in the Elixir you intended to give to me. I just know he is going to be the hardest one of them all to accept that I'm a married woman with two tiny infants, Lijah. I'm no longer that terrified seventeen year old girl standing in a ring of fire waiting for her turn to be sacrificed."

"It does concern me that these two vampires are so intent on claiming what they can't have. We'll just take it one step at a time then, and we will do it together as a family." Elijah said and with some reluctance Elena gave him back his hand. The loss she felt the moment their connection broke hurt and if he didn't need his hand for driving, she might have taken it back. Vampires can be rather possessive creatures especially for Originals. Which in retrospect might have explained how Klaus had immediately calmed her as his Doppelgänger once he realized her importance to sireing more hybrids.

"Family above all," Elena said with as much solemnity as she was feeling.

They rode in silence, enjoying the peace for however long it lasted because they both knew it wouldn't last at the same moment Elijah and Klaus pulled into the circular driveway.

"Welcome home sister!" Rebekah pulled Elena into her, looping an arm into a side hug. "We are going to have a few choice words about you stabbing me in the back," Rebekah whispered into her ear as they walked up the stone stepped entrance.

"I know, well shall we?" Elena motioned towards the double doors. Rebekah and Elena, taking the initiative, entered the manor, and they both heard music blaring from the mansion sound system. Exchanging a fervent glance between the two Originals as one, they vamp sped into what turned out to be an impressive ballroom with the others following on their heels. It was there where Elena and Rebekah stared aghast at the two obvious drunk vampires dancing to the beat of the thumping music.

"Katherine?" Elena and Rebekah said in near perfect unison.

"Sage?" Finn asked, dumbfounded. It was rather comical for Elena and for the family to see the eldest Mikaelson brother standing there with his mouth agape like a pimply teenager picking up his date for a school dance. Although she shouldn't have been too surprised. Back when she had visited him in Astral form, he had tried to describe the fiery redhead that ignited his spirit to live as immortal. From what she learned, Sage was the only person Finn had ever turned, and he swore never to turn anyone else into a vampire. Elena, there in the ballroom with rock music of all things pounding the air in rhythmic pulses of sound, resolved to do everything she could to welcome the unknown vampire. Because everything she had heard about her had originated from her brother-in-laws and offhand discussions she had at the time been an unseen witness to while Astral Projecting. Kol utterly disliked Sage and Elena suspected that Rebekah didn't think any woman, herself being an exception, was good enough for her brothers. Which was ironic considering how her brothers, particularly Klaus, had treated Rebekah's own suitors.
