Chapter 268: Trin's Arrival

Saturday, January 28th Morning

The small private business jet taxied to the private air terminal. From the window, Trin watched the ground crew guided the aircraft into a parking spot. After ground crews chocked the wheels, and the aircraft's engines started to wind down. The flight crew moved about as they let the passengers get up and secure their baggage.

Once the crew lowered the built-in stair/hatch, they headed out. Fallon, as always, in the lead, followed by Wyatt, with Trin holding up the rear and herding the group as they descended the stairs. One at a time, they descended the stairs to the tarmac. Once Trin was on the tarmac, they walked towards the terminal building.

Inside the building, they found a tall older blonde man standing there holding a sign. The sign read "Adams." Fallon and Trin both shook their heads. After their pause, they crossed the distance to him, with smiles on their faces.

Trin removed her sunglasses, just beaming at the tall man. He smiled back at her.

"Uncle Lucas, I wasn't expecting to see you here to greet us," Trin said and kissed him on the cheek, which he returned. Trin is the tallest of the three passengers on the private jet.

"What have you told him?" Fallon asked.

"Nothing," Trin said.

"I have other people to meet here today," Lucas asked.

"Oh really, who else coming in today?" Trin asked.

"I already saw off Angela, my mom, and the Greenwich Crowd," Lucas said.

"I wish I knew they were flying in today; I would've offered them a ride," Fallon said and walked up to Lucas. Fallon was significantly smaller than Lucas, by almost a foot in height.

Lucas hugged Fallon, and they kissed cheeks. "You know my sister and my mom," he said.

"Yeah, I do, but I still could have offered," Fallon said.

"Yes, you could've," Lucas said.

"Who made your sign?" Fallon asked.

"One of the kids," Lucas said.

"Sawyer?" Fallon asked.

"Nomi," Lucas said.

"Has my sister been driving you crazy?" Fallon asked, chuckling.

"No, more than any of the girls have in the past," Lucas said.

"Uncle Lucas," Wyatt said.

Lucas squatted down a bit more and hugged Wyatt. "How are you, Wyatt?" Lucas asked.

"I'm good, Uncle Lucas," Wyatt said.

"Wyatt, Auntie Fallon was talking with Uncle Lucas," Trin said.

"Sorry, I'm just excited to see Uncle Lucas," Wyatt said.

"It's okay, Trin," Lucas said.

"No, it's not; he needs to be respectful of his other people," Trin said.

Lucas shrugged, "You have a point," he said.

"I'm surprised that Uncle Nathan didn't come to meet us," Trin said.

"He's got the grandkids today, and you know your Mom," Lucas said.

"He doesn't have me," Wyatt said.

"No, he doesn't," Fallon said, in a tone that tried to show disapproving of Wyatt's interruption, and hide her amusement at him as well.

"True, I'm just surprised she didn't come herself," Trin said, ignoring Wyatt's interruption.

"She's doing something for all the guests and also something for this dinner tomorrow night," Lucas said.

"Yeah, of course, that's my Mom," Trin said.

Lucas nodded, "I have a limo waiting outside," he said.

Fallon smiled, "Well, then let's take advantage of it," she said.

"That's something I could get behind," Trin said.

Lucas chuckled, "Well, follow me," he said.

They walked out of the terminal and found a waiting limo at the curb. The driver popped the trunk and started collecting the bags. Next, he opened the rear door to let in the four passengers. Once they settled in, the driver returned to the bags.

"Mom sent one of the North Range Limos?" Trin asked.

"Two of them," Lucas said, "I already sent one back to Beaulieu."

"That would be with your mom and sister," Trin said.

Lucas nodded, "Which included Jess and Andy," he said.

The driver got into the limo and started the engine. After a moment, and as the traffic cleared, the limo pulled into the airport's traffic pattern.

"So, where are we headed?" Trin asked.

"The arrival terminal," Lucas said.

"Why?" Trin asked.

"To drop me off, there's still one more party arriving today that I have to meet," Lucas said.

"Who's coming in?" Trin asked.

"Candi and a pair of friends," Lucas said.

"Candi's coming? How did you pry her away from the hospital? Really, Luke, how did you do that?" Fallon asked.

"It wasn't me," Lucas said.

"I'm just amazed that Candi has more than Fawn as a friend," Trin said.

"She had friends in high school and college," Lucas said.

"A few, very few," Fallon said.

Lucas nodded, "I believe you wanted to talk," he said, looking directly at Fallon.

Fallon nodded grimly, "Yes, we do, in private," she said.

"I'll make arrangements where we can speak in private," Lucas said.

"Where we can't be spied on," Fallon said.

"What's going on?" Trin asked.

"You don't want to know," Fallon said.

"Okay?" Trin asked, questioning.

"No one can spy on us?" Lucas asked.

"Yes," Fallon said.

"This is serious," Lucas said.

"Very," Fallon said.

"We'll get together," Lucas said.

"So, how busy is this week for you?" Trin asked.

"Not much busier than the rest, just a few extra dinners," Lucas said.

"Any with Meggy Reuter?" Trin asked.

"Where did you hear about that?" Lucas asked. Trin gave him a look. "Of course, your Mom."

"The neighbor?" Fallon asked.

"It was one dinner with Sawyer and Gareth," Lucas said.

"Oh, really?" Fallon asked.

"That's all, and no more," Lucas said.

"Are you sure?" Trin asked.

"Quite," Lucas said.

Fallon nodded, "I'm not so sure," she said.

"Well, as far as I'm concerned, that's it," Lucas said.

The limo pulled up to the curb at the arrival terminal. Lucas looked at the two women and young boy.

"I'll see y'all at Beaulieu, and Fallon, we'll talk," Lucas said and got out of the limo. Trin looked out the window as the limo pulled away. Lucas watched them pull away, then turned to the terminal doors carrying his sign.
