The Doctor stood on the surface of an un-named planet, in the deepest reaches of the galaxy. He was alone for the moment; his companion was back at the TARDIS, asleep. The light wind ruffled his hair, and the Time Lord breathed in deeply, enjoying the alien scent. He was in his eleventh regeneration, and was still finding things out about his new body.
His outfit was different than what he had worn in the past, too. The Doctor had chosen a set of long white robes instead of a more traditional suit. The silky material felt good against his skin, and it kept him nice and cool. Turning, the man walked slowly down the slight incline he had been standing on, deciding to explore the world while he had some free time.
As he walked along, the Doctor often paused to examine a strange flower or alien animal that he encountered; the latter usually staring at the intruder for a few seconds before dashing off. He didn't have many chances to actually take a break due to his hectic lifestyle; but the rare times he did relax, the Time Lord took full advantage of them.
The overcast sky suddenly cleared, revealing the awesome sight of three small suns lighting up the deep blue sky. Stopping to admire the view, the Doctor heard a strange chirping sound from off to his left. Dragging his gaze from the sky, he turned towards the sound, worried that his companion might have followed him and gotten hurt. Scanning the landscape, his eyes landed on a small cat-like creature sitting a few feet away. Round yellow eyes regarded him curiously, and it's two tails swished back and forth for a few seconds.
The creature was about a foot and a half high, with white fur. The tips of it's ears and tails were red, and it had matching spots around it's eyes. Chirping again, the small cat darted forwards, rubbing up against the Doctor's ankles. Smiling at his new friend, the man bent down and ran a hand lightly over it's back, the creature purring with pleasure.
He spent almost an hour playing with the cat, finally pausing when he realized how long he had been gone. Sighing, he gave the animal final a scratch behind the ears and went back to the TARDIS, leaving shortly thereafter.
