She places her book on the side board as she makes her way to the front door, pinching the bridge of her nose she doesn't even bother to check who's on the other side, truth be told, she doesn't need to. It could only be Booth, it's a little after midnight, the streets are hidden under at least a foot of snow and the winter wind has an unforgiving bite… No one else would trek halfway across town to see her right now, no one else was on the receiving end of her harsh words this afternoon, only him. She draws in a steadying breath before she opens the door to him, his eyes are downcast and it takes a moment for them to raise from the floor to meet her own… she isn't prepared for the darkness that she sees there.
With one quick stride and a forceful push he has them both backed into her hallway and against the wall, their lips meet in a furious rush. It takes her head a couple of seconds to catch up with the rest of her body, the desperate frustration in his kisses fuelling her own desire, his foot moves backward and kicks the door closed behind him before his hands grip into the flesh of her thighs and hike her up to rest her legs around his waist. He turns to the sideboard and with one swipe of his hand he clears it of its contents then unceremoniously dumps her onto it. Her hands fumble with the knot on his tie as his reach for the belt of her suit trousers, with his head bent towards her she nips on his earlobe and kisses the sensitive spot right behind his ear, he groans and his hands stop their current quest, one more nip at his lobe and he's spurred on by her again. His mouth meets her own again in a frenzy and she matches his enthusiasm. His hands tangling in her hair, she senses his change in pace, his lips mellow against her own, his hands hold her head almost reverently and her heart starts to race as she sighs his given name into his mouth. His reply comes so unexpected, her passion dries up as quickly as it had come and she pulls back to look at him stunned.
"Wrong scientist Seeley."
At first he looks confused, but then his error dawns on him. She pushes him back from her and slides from the sideboard fixing her belt on the dress pants. He runs a hand through his hair and closes his eyes as she pushes past him.
"Cam.."
"Forget it Seeley, go home."
He looks at the ground for a moment to regain his composure, without another glance in her direction he leaves her to her solitude. She hears the door close, she hears him walk down the hallway and then she allows a deep shuddery breath to escape her. The lust filled desperate man was the one who was here with her tonight, the gentle passionate lover who appeared from nowhere was with someone else… with the one person whom she knew she would never compete with, the one person he'd let her know she'd never compete with. She allows herself to fall back onto the bed, closing her eyes she prays for sleep to take her.
