Chapter 362: The Scott Building

Friday, February 3rd, Morning (Eastern Standard Time)

Haley looked up from her desk and sighed. She reached over to her phone and picked up the handset. Quickly she dialed three numbers and waited for the phone to connect.

"Hi Haley, what can I do for you?" Kayla Drake asked at the other end.

"Can you stop by my office?" Haley asked.

"Sure, what's up?" Kayla asked.

"It's a face-to-face thing," Haley said.

"Sure, be there in a minute," Kayla said.

"Okay, thanks," Haley said.

"You're welcome," Kayla said and hung up.

Haley turned to look out the large windows. The Scott Building was new, mainly made of concrete, faced with Georgia Brick, and had large industrial windows, giving the building the look of an old mill or warehouse. This look was the look Peyton wanted for their own building. This look gave the offices a beautiful view, and the side of the building that Haley's office was located on had a full view of the river.

Kayla walked into Haley's office. Haley turned away from the windows to look at the blonde woman standing by the door. Haley nodded and sighed.

"Please close the door, Kayla," Haley said.

"Oh, okay," Kayla said, turned around, and closed the office door behind her.

"Have a seat," Haley said.

Kayla nodded, walked over to the desk, and sat in one of the chairs in front of the desk. Kayla casually crossed her legs and looked across the desk at Haley. After a moment, Haley leaned forward and rapped on her desk.

"What's up, Haley?" Kayla asked.

"Well, it happened again," Haley said.

"What happened again?" Kayla asked as a lot of conversations started this way.

"Another woman showed up on my doorstep last night," Haley said.

"Another woman calming Brian is the father of their child, or they are the long-lost wife of him," Kayla said.

"The former," Haley said.

"Another mid-western trailer dweller?" Kayla asked.

Haley shook her head, "No, a Hungarian stripper from California," she said.

Kayla shook her head, "That sounds like a bad setup for a romance novel," she said.

"I know, doesn't it," Haley said.

Kayla shrugged, "Well, I don't know why they come here; Brian was gone from the label before I finished with Davis Enterprises," she said.

"I guess because I'm here, and the family name," Haley said.

"So, did you see at least a cute picture of a four-year-old?" Kayla asked.

"He isn't a four-year-old," Haley said.

"This child couldn't be younger than that, or he isn't Brian's," Kayla said.

"The young boy is nine-year-olds," Haley said.

"Wow, that means it all happen right around when I transitioned to here," Kayla said.

Haley nodded, "I've lost count how many damn times I've had to deal with such crap involving Brian," she said.

"You would think since he was with, what's her name," Kayla said.

"Gabriel," Haley said.

"Yeah, since he was with her, there wouldn't be any of these issues," Kayla said.

"I believe Brian and Gabi had some sort of open thing," Haley said.

"Now, that's some I don't get," Kayla said, "One man is more than enough for me."

"It worked for them, I guess," Haley said and shrugged, "I don't get it either, nor do I approve."

"So, are you doing the normal thing?" Kayla asked.

"We're planning on it," Haley said.

"Well, good luck with that," Kayla said.

"Thank you," Haley said.

"You're welcome," Kayla said, "I'm interested; how many grandchildren have you found through these visitors?"

Haley shook her head, "None so far," she said.

"None? Really?" Kayla asked.

"I'm surprised myself, Brian, who is casual about these things, has been amazingly responsible," Haley said.

"So, as far as you know, he only has kids with Trin and Gabi; you said her name is, right?" Kayla asked.

Haley nodded, "Yeah, Wyatt with Trin, and the other three with Gabi," she said.

"I wonder why that is?" Kayla asked.

"He might've had actual feelings for them, or maybe he had one of his weird feelings about them," Haley said, "I have no idea why."

"So, you never had to deal with the next phase of this; I guess you're lucky," Kayla said.

"No, we haven't, and I don't even know how Brian would want to handle it or treat the child," Haley said.

"How do you handle the kids that you know about?" Kayla asked.

"Wyatt, Trin keeps upon him, and she's doing a good job raising him. As for Lennon, Lacy, and Darren, we are raising them with some assistance from Rachel, but she's rather hands-off," Haley said.

"Why is that?" Kayla asked.

"Rachel lives in isolation in her cabin; she's had a bad time of it," Haley said.

"I remember working with her at Davis Enterprises; she was certainly an interesting woman," Kayla said.

"You could say that," Haley said.

"Have you seen her recently?" Kayla asked.

"No, I don't go up to her cabin when the grandkids go up there to visit. Nathan has told me that she's gone completely gray and doesn't dye her hair," Haley said.

"That doesn't sound like the Rachel I know," Kayla said.

"Rachel, I believe, had just given up and wants to live in isolation," Haley said.

"That's sad," Kayla said, "But it's been sad times."

"Yes, it had," Haley said, "And I just need a break from."

Kayla nodded, "If life was that easy," she said.

Haley nodded, "How's Chris deal with Carrie?" she asked.

Kayla shrugged, "Carrie is, well, held together by bubble gum and baling wire as they say," she said.

"It's hard to believe she's still alive," Haley said.

"Neither can we," Kayla said, "So, what does Nathan think about the latest going on?"

"He's fed up with this crap," Haley said.

"I can imagine that, finding out you might have another grandchild and then finding out that it's not," Kayla said.

"It sucks; that's why we try not to meet the child unless it is confirmed," Haley said.

Kayla nodded, "Do you have a name for this potential new grandson?" she asked.

"Krisztofer," Haley said.

"Krisztofer," Kayla said and shrugged.

"I don't know," Haley said.

"Have you made arrangements for the test?" Kayla asked.

"Not yet, but we will," Haley said.

"Well, good luck either way," Kayla said.

"Thank you," Haley said and turned to look out the window.

"So, Tacit Blue's tour is ending this week, and they should be back soon," Kayla said.

Haley nodded, "What do they have planned?" she asked.

"Don't know yet; I think they'll want some downtime for now," Kayla said.

Haley nodded, "Knowing them, it's either back to the studio or back on tour," she said.

"We'll find out when they arrive back home," Kayla said.

"Good, good, and thanks for listening, Kayla," Haley said.

"You're welcome," Kayla said and stood up, leaving the room.
