Bella's hands went to her belly, slowly caressing it while staring at herself in the mirror in awe.

She couldn't see anything different, yet deep inside she knew something drastically has changed. She realized that the moment she felt that tiny nudge inside her.

It shouldn't be possible. Didn't it just happen the other night? There may be some other explanation and yet deep down, she believes that there was only one answer because even if it was very much too early to even consider it, all the things that she felt, her cravings, her dreams of a beautiful child, her sleepiness, it all added up for her.

She was married to a vampire so how impossible was it to conceive right away when they just consummated their marriage just a few nights ago?

She was going to have a child… Edward's child and her heart blossomed. What was once a place only for the man she loves now made space for another, her baby… her little nudger.

As she was reveling at the idea of her having a baby, she finally allowed herself to look at Edward beside her, but he was frozen in place. He was staring into the horizon and Bella's brows creased in confusion, unsure of what was happening.

The sound of a phone ringing caught Bella's attention and she realized that it was inside Edward's pocket, but he was not answering it. He still stood there, as frozen as a vampire could be.

She decided to take the phone out and saw that it was Alice calling.

"Alice?" She answered the phone.

"Bella!" She was confused at Alice's relieved tone.

"What happened?! I couldn't see you! I was worried!"

"We're fine. Well, at least I think we are." She responded, unsure.

"What do you mean?"

"I'm not sure yet. Is Carlisle there?" She heard a shuffle from the other line and Carlisle's voice came through the phone next.

"Bella? Is everything okay?" Carlisle asked worriedly.

"Ahm, can vampires go to shock?"

"Ahhh No. Why? What happened? Is Edward all right? Are you all okay?"

There was a pause before Bella could say the words out loud.

"I think I'm pregnant."

The other line was silent.

Before anyone else could say anything, the phone was taken away from her hand and she stood, staring at Edward while he paced in the room as he talked to Carlisle. He was talking in vampire speed so she couldn't understand the conversation, but Edward's expression was full of rage and beneath it, she saw pain and desperation.

There will be moments that he would feel that he is not worthy… that being near you might have been a bad idea, but you must be strong, for both of your sake.

Bella realized that she needed to do something about Edward's reaction. She grabbed Edwards free hand, and the movement caught him by surprise. He whirled around to face her and was about to dismiss her when he stopped, and their gazes met.

He saw himself reflected from her eyes. Eyes that were full of understanding towards the man who was yet again, failing her.

He said that he would try. Even as he saw her bruises after she gave herself to him, he forgave himself because he saw the trust, the love, and the happiness reflected in her eyes. He couldn't bring himself to feel guilty any longer.

But now, this was something different. This was not what he was expecting to happen. How could it even be possible that someone like him would be able to father a…a… was it even a child that was inside her body?! He was a vampire! What was inside her was a… monster and it was going to destroy her, the woman that he loves… it was going to…

"Edward." Bella spoke.

He closed his eyes. He was thinking of ways on how he could get whatever the thing is out of her body. Carlisle was on the other line. He would know what to do. He can have everything prepared when they returned.

"Look at me." Bella spoke again, firmly this time.

He finally opened his eyes and what he saw there caught him by surprise.

Bella looked at him with determination. He couldn't understand why but he felt like he missed something crucial.

"You promised."

Stop dismissing what she wants…

Stop trying to decide what's best for her!

He was doing it again. He was making decisions because he was afraid of what might happen without considering what she wants but by the look on her face, he was afraid of what she was going to decide and he knew that as soon as Bella made up her mind, she was going to stick to it, no matter what… even if it would cause her life.

But… he realized that he had to try. For her sake. For the promise that he was going to keep.

He took a deep breath. Willing himself to stay calm. He could hear his father calling out to him somewhere on the background and he remembered that he was still on the phone.

His mind was conflicted. What he was going to do was going to go against everything that he believed in. He needed to protect Bella, his wife, his mate, his everything.

"Bella…" He finally spoke, his words cutting deep into his unbeating heart.

"What… do you need?"

Oh, what he would do to always see that look on Bella's face right now. That look of love and trust and happiness radiated from her.

"You... and the child. Edward, we're going to have a baby..." The joy in her words was obvious and he couldn't believe that he almost destroyed that by thinking of taking it away from her, but Edward knew that things were not going to be easy for them.

This was unchartered territory, even for them vampires. He didn't know what was going to happen and how it would affect Bella. He needed all the help he can get.

"Carlisle…" He was finally able to address his father who was patiently waiting for him to speak on the phone.

"Yes, son?"

"Please… help us."

"We'll do everything we can."

Bella held out her hand to him and he grasped it like a lifeline.

They made arrangements to fly back to Washington at the soonest flight available and the others were going to try to find more information about the child that Bella was going to have.

It didn't help with Edward's anxiety when while they were hurriedly packing, the female caretaker for Isle Esme arrived and took one look at Edward and Bella and called him a monster outright.

He read her mind and although she didn't really know exactly that Edward was a vampire, she was aware of legends of creatures of the dark and when Edward tried to ask about a possibility of a child, she had looked at Bella with a resigned expression and in her mind, she already decided that Bella was going to be good as dead.

When she left, Edward curled into a corner, hands grasping his hair in frustration. He was helpless and afraid of the unknown.

He was afraid that whatever happiness that they were able to finally attain was going to be cut short just because they didn't know that vampires can actually breed and that if he was a monster that can hurt others, for sure, whatever is inside Bella would eventually destroy her in the process as well.

Warm hands suddenly enveloped his body, and he was washed over by Bella's scent.

They stayed that way for a while before any one of them spoke.

"You're afraid." She stated. Edward couldn't reply. He was afraid that if he did, that he was going to take back everything that he said earlier and beg Bella to terminate the thing inside her.

"I'm not." She spoke.

Her hands moved to touch each side of his face and he allowed her to raise his head up so she can have a clear look at him.

"What we have…is beautiful. So, I refuse to believe that whatever we created would be anything less."

The journey back to the States was uneventful. Bella slept most of the way and when they returned, the family hovered over Bella, worrying, even though she assured them that she was going to be fine.

Only Rosalie didn't seem at all perturbed at the situation. Instead, their relationship changed overnight. She was suddenly being protective of Bella for the next few days, and she was always there if she needed something and only Edward, who has been into Rosalie's mind, would know why. Bella was fighting for something that she had longed for but could never have for herself, a child.

While the others were busy researching about Bella's condition, she slept most of the time and barely ate. Everyone was starting to worry but Bella only took it as a sign of pregnancy. Didn't pregnant women have morning sickness or sometimes lose their appetites? The others didn't share her sentiment though, especially Edward. Carlisle, being a doctor, could see the difference in her body. She was slowly losing her healthy body and Edward was getting paranoid.

He needed to do something before something bad would happen.

I can't believe we've only known about it now…

True, I can't believe it's even possible, half-vampire, half-human. Do you think that if you hadn't changed me then, that you know… we might have…?"

Bella woke up with a jolt. The dream still fresh in her mind but she had a strong feeling that it wasn't just a dream. It was a memory. Except, it wasn't her memory.

"Bella!" She suddenly exclaimed in realization, and everyone went to her side right away, not to close to at least allow her space in the couch. But everyone was looking at her curiously.

"Ahm, yeah. That's your name." Emmett reminded her.

She shook her head.

"No, I mean Bella." Emmett raised his shoulders to shrug and turned to Edward. He didn't voice it out, but he was clearly worried that Bella was going crazy, and Edward's face contorted into pain before he smoothens his face, in case Bella saw his reaction.

He sat beside her and held her hand gently.

"Love… we don't understand." He tried to hide the pain in his eyes, but Bella could still see through it.

"I know that you've been hurting, and my condition has been eating you up inside. Just please stay strong for me okay…" She touched his cheek with her palm, and he leaned into her touch.

"I'm trying… I truly am." He said in resignation.

"I might have something." She announced and everyone was paying attention.

"Or at least the future Bella does." That got everybody's attention.

"Oh, you mean 'the Bella' that was all the way from a different world and a different future that got sent to your body a few months ago?" She nodded when Alice clarified.

"It was a memory that she had. She and Jasper were talking about a half-human and half-vampire hybrid. She knows about it!"

"Are you sure Bella?" Carlisle was the one who asked with a hint of curiosity in his voice and Bella nodded.

Ever since the alternate future Bella had unintentionally hijacked her body, she had been swarmed with memories of a life that was not hers and as much as she wanted to retain those memories especially those memories of her counterpart in her vampire life, her human brain could just not handle it.

Some memories were slowly harder to remember than others. Sometimes she gets it mixed up with her own and sometimes she would just remember it in her dreams, but she would always find the distinction between her regular dreams and future Bella's memories.

She was looking forward to becoming a vampire so she could properly remember those memories. Now, it looked like it actually came in handy.

"I'm having a hard time remembering the details but if she knows about it, that means that this is not something that just happened to us." She looked at Edward eagerly and he was suddenly filled with hope for the first time that this happened.

They were no longer facing the unknown anymore. Someone else knows and maybe… they might have an idea exactly what they're getting themselves into and what to do to ensure that it wasn't going endanger Bella.

Edward realized exactly what needs to be done.
