By the time that they were travelling by car, Jasper and Bella had removed their cloaks and settled with regular jeans and shirt. Jasper was the one who drove since he was more familiar with the area while Bella sat beside him at the passenger side.

Alice and Edward sat at the back, but they were distancing themselves from each other. Now that he didn't have their thoughts to listen to, he was not sure what he was going to occupy himself with. He didn't want to start thinking about how Bella was doing back in his world, or he would lose himself with the despair that he was feeling.

Alice was leaning on the window, staring aimlessly and from time to time, she would glance at Edward with that wistful look on her face. Bella could see it from the rearview mirror, and she sighed helplessly. She suddenly remembered her own experience when she would stare at the past Jasper and see the resemblance but not the feeling there. It was lacking, empty and eventually it became painful for her to know, that wasn't the man that she loved.

She felt Jasper's hand on her, and she looked at him and saw him gazing at her worriedly. He sent her a wave of emotions her way and she closed her eyes in contentment, knowing that he didn't need words to let her know how much he loves her. It also assured her that she was here now, back in her own world and her mate and that was all she needed.

"Ugh! 'Can't see anything" Alice suddenly complained.

"You okay back there Alice?" Jasper asked.

"I'm trying to see the outcome, but everything is just black. It's like someone's blocking me."

"Like the wolves?" Bella was the one who asked.

"Yeah, just like the wolves but there are no wolves where we're going right?"

"Not that we know of."

"If it was the Quileute's, I would at least see something even just a little after being familiar with them, but this is all new."

"Could it be the hybrid?" Bella asked softly and Alice's eyebrows furrowed, and she rubbed her forehead.

"Maybe? I don't know, but if it is, I don't like it. It took me years to work my visions around the wolves. Now, I have to learn to do it again with another species." She huffed.

Edward observed her from the side. He was used to Alice's quirks, so he was finding it difficult to see Alice like this.

It was already hard enough that Bella was blocking him from reading her thoughts but what was harder, was that he was having difficulties imagining his relationship with Alice as anything else other than being siblings.

His mind wandered to that moment when he successfully transported to this world and he found himself inside this world's Edward with his body intertwined to Alice's small figure while her eyes were closed, an expression of pure bliss on her face the same way that Bella had on the night of their honeymoon... he shook his head trying to erase the image of his naked sister. It wasn't like he hasn't seen his fair share of intimate moments from his family members in their minds but having that feeling directed to him was a different matter altogether.

For him, Alice will always be his little sister just like Bella will always be his wife and mother of his unborn child.

Back in his world, when Bella had told him that she could only think of him as a brother, the concept still eluded him and now here he was, on the other side of the situation with Bella in her own world and him being the outsider.

He suddenly understood how Bella felt when it was her who got stuck in his world and having to see Jasper with someone else. It was not easy seeing Bella finally interacting with her own mate here and as much as he wanted to be jealous every time Jasper looked at her with love or when they would hold hands or when Jasper catches a stray strand of hair on her face, it was unfounded.

And Alice. She had the same expression that he wore when Bella was inside the body of his own mate. It was hard for him to see Bella looking at him with her deep brown eyes without the love and affection that they had shared and even harder when he would see her look at another man that way instead.

Alice was now in that same situation as him and he felt sorry that there was no other way for him to ease what she was feeling. If only he could have travelled to this world without having to take over his counterpart's body, he would have spared Alice the hurt of not being able to feel her mate's presence any longer and even if he couldn't see Alice as a mate, she was still his sister and he cared for her deeply and he was hoping that he would be able to get the answers that he needs so he could go back to his own world as soon as possible and give Alice her mate back.

All the way to their destination, Edward decided to spend the time trying to tap into the memories of the Edward of this world. He didn't know how it really works when Bella mentioned that she had shared the same strong emotion with her counterpart that they were able to access each other's memories and he felt awkward to ask so he kept it to himself. By the time that they were already switching from driving to going on foot for the rest of the way, he was still unsuccessful, and he wondered if he would ever be able to get his counterparts memories and even wondered if it would be the same the other way around. Since he was not able to get his memories, if he goes back, would his counterpart remember the events that transpired while he was in his body? He wouldn't be able to know.

True enough, they arrived at their destination by dawn. Jasper and Bella wore their cloaks again and led their group while Edward and Alice stayed a few paces back. They were silent, not even their footsteps making any noise.

They were in a small clearing, walking towards a barn and on the right was a cornfield. They were the only ones visibly present but the closer they got; Edward finally heard voices in his head.

"We have company." He whispered. Bella and Jasper merely looked at each other and did not break pace.

"How many?" Jasper asked.

Edward listened intently, trying to identify and distinguish the voices in his head from one another. Since Bella was blocking their family, Edward was able to easily identify the only other voices that he was hearing.

"One adult female, one adult male…" He started. The' female's thoughts were full of fear. She was convinced that they did not do anything wrong but was afraid that the Volturi might not think so. The male was more protective. He already knew that this day would come after they had that conflict with another coven. It was only a matter of time before someone was going to notice and to alert the Volturi. They didn't even bother explaining themselves because they knew that others of their kind would not even bother. They were going to save the explanation for the Volturi.

Surprisingly enough, Edward could hear the male vampire hoping that it was the leader of the Volturi who was going to pass judgement to them. He knew about Aro's gift and was hoping he would see enough to know that there was no law broken.

"Anyone else?" Bella asked. Edward focused and realized that there was another inner voice in his head. It wasn't as pronounced as the adults, but it was there. Edward was having a hard time describing it because the voice didn't really have any words. It was more like feelings that he was getting, pictures and images that described what the third mind was thinking. It was just like reading Bella's father's mind. The voice was worried, there were images of the male and the female vampire and another female that 'he' couldn't put an image to. He was worried and he didn't want them sad.

Edward nodded but his brows were furrowed in concentration.

Finally, the vampires stepped out of the barn to greet them, and they were surprised to see a toddler that looked to be about four years old being carried by a female vampire.

Edward gasped. He hasn't seen an immortal child before, but he's heard of it and he knew how dangerous they were. He couldn't help but think about all those times that he was privy to the Denali Sister's minds whenever they thought about their mother who sired an immortal child and got destroyed because of it.

He knew how appealing the child was, how uncontrollable they are. They say an immortal child's tantrum can wipe out villages but the images that he could think of does not match what he was seeing and hearing from the child in front of them.

"I'm letting you in my shield now brother, just in case." Bella quickly warned and before he could even comment at the fact that Bella just called him 'brother', more voices bombarded his mind, and he tried not to think about Alice trying to consciously block him from reading her mind. Jasper didn't bother since his mind was focused on assessing the vampires in front of them, while Bella… well, he still couldn't hear Bella.

Bella and Jasper finally stopped just a few feet from them, and Alice and Jasper followed. Now that they were closer, they finally heard something that didn't seem quite right. Jasper tilted his head in concentration while Bella focused on the child. Alice was trying to help by looking at their future, but she was still being blocked.

The child had a beating heart. It wasn't the normal beating heart of a human because it was twice as fast and now that they could clearly see his features, the child resembled the male vampire except for the eyes that were blue and were clearly human. Edward was finally noticing some differences from the child like how his skin even though were pale, it has a softness to it compared to theirs and he was sure that if he touched it, it would not be as hard or as tough as their vampire skin.

It was just like how Bella had described it. Half-human, half-vampire.
