The Diego Diaries: Weekend (Last orn) (dd8 456)

=0=Dojo

"Last night was a good game."

Kup nodded. "Comets are ahead."

[Silence]

"Yep."

The younger set that were having breakfast here with all the oldsters, donuts, the odd sandwich, Cybertronian junk food beloved in the ghetto and cold 'coffee' watched them, admiring the quiet awesomeness that antique mechanisms with skill and background could command among the younger set.

Consider Spartan kids watching '300'.

"What are you going to do today, Appa?" Lon asked as he sipped his cold coffee. He hated it cold but he was, after all, one of the boys. So…

"Well," Hercy said, "I'm going to relax here a moment, then go to the golf club and get some rounds in. The pro golf season is coming up and I think I want to be on a team. Do they do teams in golf?" he asked no one in particular.

No one knew.

It would be a pleasant orn at the dojo and a hoot on the golf course later.

=0=On the links already for an early morning weekend round with The Boyz™

"You're a sorry sod."

Ironhide glanced up at his father with enraged optics. "FRAG YOU!"

He then continued to swing at the ball in the sand trap until it flew out and landed in the rough farther down the field.

Prime, Sun, Jack, Blackjack who was goading his son, Raptor,

Springer, Drift with Tell in his hold, Hard Drive, Paragon and Magnus grinned at their little mech/father-in-law/object of derision.

He was having his usual game.

Ironhide glared at all of them staring at him. "FRAG YOU!" He climbed out and snorted on ahead with the rest following to watch him try to catch up. It would be entertaining.

In the middle of a rough swinging for the fifth time:

"FRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG!"

=0=At a brunch in a nice restaurant in Pax

"Then I said to Marlus, I said 'really'?" Madura explained with a big smile on his face.

Everyone in the Squad grinned. This was hilarious and so was Madura.

"What did Marlus say?" Prowl asked like the fraud that he was.

"I, Prowl, don't 'do' gossip," he always said.

That one.

"Well, Marlus leaned in to whisper…" Madura paused for effect.

Everyone else was highly entertained but Prowl leaned in for the answer like the overly prepared, uptight, micromanaging, prim little femme that he secretly was in all his doings.

Mostly.

"Well, Marlus said …"

And so it would go for a rollicking brunch with the SKWAD.

=0=At the club

They gathered together at the Youth Club in Iacon, the one that was 'home base' for the big kids and all of the Watch mentorship kids. They sat at a table playing poker for Oreos like the big boys.

"That was a great night last night. I can't wait to see what the humans think when we go there for their votes," Rambler said as he antied up.

:I can't either: Barrett said as he antied up his Oreos, tiny bits of crumbs compared to that of the kids. He was playing his own because it was 'cute' or so Sil and Echo had said. He sat on a chair in a booster seat with his friends. The kids were all taller than him but Echo but not by much. :My dad contacted Ratchet this morning. We're go for whenever you can make it, Coros:

"That's great!" Coros said as he antied up. "I can't wait. I've never spoken to humans before like this."

:I'll come with you. I know they'll be great and so will you: Barrett said as the hand was played. He won. The mound of Oreos sitting in front of him would nearly block his view.

They would happily play on until it was time to go to the Water Park. They would carefully help Barrett to slide on the slides. It would be a high point in his life forever.

The Commandant, Jackson Davis sat in his office with his lieutenant, Lars Hammerstrom from Norway. "This is going to be interesting. I didn't know we were allowed to vote."

"Apparently, if your status is residential you can. The human community has a member on the School Board. This is going to be insteresting to see the kids. Apparently they have a social service group here and they even have a human kid in it. The titan kids all belong and so does Prime's eldest son, a kid called Rambler," Lars said.

"Prime's kid. Amazing," Jackson said. "We need to do a good job here. We need to fit in and be a part of this. Having them here will be great. The more individuals we meet, the better.

"Rick Harris is coming today to show us all the trails he has with his business and the training centers on world for N.E.S.T. They plan to share all of it with us though we're having some built to our own specs and that of some of the worlds around here like Io. The more we integrate into the life here, the better."

"I agree. I didn't see the proposal yet. Is it here then?" Lars asked as Jackson handed him a data pad. It showed all the areas in question. "This is great. I also hear that N.E.S.T. uses their water park to train in. I heard they have a pool 147 feet deep. The water slide, the one that goes around the roof apparently can kill you if you don't do it right."

"I wonder what constitutes 'right'?" Jackson wondered as he leaned back in his chair with contentment.

They would find out.

=0=Family Tower, The City-Mars

The place hummed with the usual last-day-before-the-work-week activity. Some lounged in the lounge in their jammies while watching the news which was filled with all manner of fun and information…

"Welcome back," Tyl-R, a newbie kid doing the news on the weekend said. He was young and adorable. "Today the Office of the Primes clarified voting regulations for off world individuals, mainly the human community for all elections. Lord Optimus also expanded rights again after studying the results of the School Board election held recently. It's been refined to constitute the following.

"All humans on world with 'permanent-temporary' status with the Bureau of Immigration have the right to vote in the elections if they're older than 15. That means all elections. Your names will be in the voting database and when you vote at the local console in your habitat it will tell you if the right extends to you.

"The Prime after seeing the outstanding results of the School Board election has extended voting rights to the aforementioned individuals to all elections including federal. He has also extended the right to serve at all levels of the colonial political structure as well. If a resident human wants to run for an office you're now cleared to do so. It's pleased him greatly that the offer of franchise was taken up so completely by both the human community and youth.

"The Delegate Assembly elections will be held in seven orns. All of the candidates have been working hard including the newly elected member of the School Board, Coros of Polyhex. Gen-O recently interviewed him in the clubhouse of the Autobot City Youth Watch and Medical Center Auxiliary in the Central Labor Hall."

The view cut to the two.

"Coros, first, congratulations on your win for the School Board seat for youth. You will be the first delegate to be able to vote in all their decisions."

Coros nodded. "I know. I think its important for all youth to have a voice and to participate early in the process. The process only works if everyone believes in it and participates. Its a lot of fun getting there and I'm grateful for my team and everyone who believes in me. I'm there for you."

"Would being in the Delegate Assembly, on the School Board and going to school be a lot for anyone, let alone a youngster like you?" Gen-O said.

"I have a great team to help me, the support of my teachers and family as well as the desire to do this. I want to help with the colony's direction and growth. I want youth to have a voice in the process. I expect I'm going to be working at a lot of things but I'm dedicated to do this. I would never run if I didn't believe I could."

His expression became serious, more serious than before. "When I came here I was a brat. An entitled high caste that didn't know any better. I learned a lot and with the help of a lot of people I changed. I love this place. All the good that was in me came out here.

"My family and I are dedicated to doing what we can for everyone, not just a few. We want to be a blessing here. I'd like people to sincerely consider me and know that I understand both sides of the problem that led us here and I've made my stand on the right side of history. I want to make things better for every single person here. That's what I want to do now."

They chatted a bit, then the news continued.

"I'm voting for that kid," a nana said as she sipped coffee and ate her danish.

"I am, too," another said. "I wish we were in his district."

The nana nodded. "I do, too."

Snickers by all humans present rounded the room. A couple of dogs woofed, too.

=0=Others here and there

They walked to the museum to meet Jade who was going to show Terradive a number of hands on exhibits that would be making the rounds of the Level One classrooms of the Youngling Day schools. They were replicas of different kinds of weapons and art treasures that were part of the 'Primes of Antiquity' exhibit that would be showcased in the museums and their annexes all over the colony as part of their ever changing seasonal programs. Also included were different diadems and crowns that were part of some of the Prime's different incarnations among The People.

They presented what the people wanted and needed from time to time when They would come for some reason or other. It would be among the earliest times of the bot's freedom from slavery, when Their presence was a balm. Eventually, They would cease to appear in person but comfort The People in their dreams.

Entering the huge building, the main Museum of Cybertron, they walked onward to the administrative and work area of the facility. Getting cleared, they were led to a huge work area, one of several on several floors where Jade ruled as Chief of Conservation and Restoration. They entered, then greeted him.

"You're early," Jade said with a smile. "Come on. I'll show you. Thank you, both of you for volunteering to curate these items for the school while its there." He led the way to a vast table where things were laid out. Chairs around it allowed conservators to sit and work on things on the table to get them as close to their former glory as their damage allowed.

Three beautiful daggers, two fillets or delicate crowns and a number of iconic jewel studded images lay on velvet pads. Next to them were simpler objects, a 'casket' which held the copper sheets of names of the dead replicated from a shrine at the Manganese Mountains on Cybertron, the oldest yet found. There were jewel studded books, replications of things found in the ruins and placed in the nuclear-proofed vaults of the museum and its secured facility five miles away near Aerie Hill.

"Wow," Roto said as he looked at the beautiful items. He leaned closer to an icon which held the inscutable face of all individuals, the Liege Maximo. "This slagger, too?"

"The good, bad and ugly, my friend," Jade replied. He would describe all of the objects, go over the lessons that would be taught witn them in units of study and the morning would roll on wonderfully.

"FRAG!"

"If you would just-" -Da Da

"SHUT UP!"

"Ironhide, if you would just-" -Prime

"SHUT THE FRAG UP!"

"Now Ironhide, that's not nice-" Raptor's

"YOU! YOU'RE THE WORST! SHUT THE FRAG UP!"

And so it would go.

For the 'ungolfed': there are several kinds of traps on a golf course and one of them is water or sand, the other the 'rough'. A rough can be a lot of things for a course on this world: rocks and boulders and the like. On a course on earth its usually just grass allowed to grow wild.
