Chapter 427: The Scott Building

Monday, February 13th, Morning

After checking through the gates, he looked around the lobby of the Scott Building. After nodding to the security guard behind the desk. He walked past the security desk and into the building's cafeteria. He got in line like the rest of the people.

Nathan Scott sighed and would shuffle ahead as the various people selected their breakfast. Nathan just tried not to draw attention to himself. Finally, he reached the coffee station. Nathan sighed and looked for a cup.

After pouring a cup of coffee, he made it up and kept going down the line. When he finally got to the cashier, he pulled out his wallet. Before he could open it, the cashier handed him a receipt for zero money.

"What's this?" Nathan asked.

"Your receipt, sir," the cashier said.

"But you charged me nothing," Nathan said.

"You just had the coffee, right?" the cashier asked.

"Yes," Nathan said.

"You've got a family pass," the cashier said.

"Yes," Nathan said.

"Your coffee is free," the cashier said.

Nathan nodded, "Fine," he said and walked away, finding a place to sit.

After a few moments, Nathan looked up and saw Magdalena "Mags" McMichael sitting across him, holding a bottle of water. Nathan looked into the eyes of the older woman. She nodded at him.

"Nathan Scott here in the cafeteria, early in the morning. Did I have a stroke?" Mags asked.

"No, I rolled in with Haley," Nathan said.

"Still, what do we owe such an exalted appearance?" Mags asked.

"I have an interview for a documentary today," Nathan said.

"Oh, that Brian documentary," Mags said.

Nathan nodded, "Yeah, that's why I'm here," he said.

"Yeah, I have an interview with them as well," Mags said.

"Are you going to have your guitar in your lap?" Nathan asked.

"Of course, have to show off my baby," Mags said with a laugh.

Nathan shook his head, "I wonder what Ms. Van Ankeren is going to ask you about?" he asked.

Mags shrugged, "Probably the early music years, you know his good albums," she said.

"Yeah," Nathan said and looked around the room.

"Nate, you'll do fine," Mags said.

Nathan shook his head, "I'm not worried about that, Mags," he said.

"What are you worried about?" Mags asked.

"Hoping the movie doesn't hurt do Brian too dirty," Nathan said.

"Why? Brian didn't turn out to be a good man. I know he was your son, but that's the truth, Nate," Mags said.

Nathan sighed, "It's not why I'm worried; it's the grandchildren; I don't want them to hear the bad about their dad until they are older," he said.

"Do you want them to grow up and get a rude awaking?" Mags asked.

"No, I just think, well, Lacy and Darren are too young," Nathan said.

"Lennon and Wyatt?" Mags asked.

"I have very little say in what we can or will tell Wyatt," Nathan said.

"Trin's always kind of been that way," Mags said.

"Lennon, I was hoping to tell him when he's a teenager," Nathan said.

"Don't wait too long," Mags said.

Nathan nodded, "Yeah," he said.

"I heard there's some shit going on again," Mags said.

"You were also good at finding out stuff," Nathan said.

Mags tapped her ears, then her mouth, "I have two of these and one of these which one to use more of," she said.

"So, what have you heard?" Nathan asked.

"That a woman knocked on your door and as always claimed her child is Brian's," mags said.

Nathan nodded, "That's the basics," he said and took a sip of his coffee.

"So, where are you in the process?" Mags asked.

Nathan sighed and took another sip of coffee, "Waiting for the test to come back," he said.

"Boy or girl?" Mags asked.

"A boy," Nathan said.

"Younger or older?" Mags asked.

"Between Lennon and Lacy," Nathan said.

Mags nodded, "Brian was good at programming boys," she said.

"That he is," Nathan said.

"Well, he was good at something," Mags said.

"Not always the best things," Nathan said.

"Why are you so anxious? It isn't the movie; it's got to be the kid," Mags said.

"This one, the next one, I'm always anxious when it comes to dealing with Brian's exploits," Nathan said.

"There is a lot to be anxious about," Mags said.

Nathan took a sip of his coffee and looked at Mags. "They didn't let me buy my coffee," he said.

"It's your badge the founders and family level get free coffee," Mags said, "Peyton wanted it that way," she finished and held up her founder pass.

"Oh, maybe I should come here more often for my coffee," Nathan said.

"You're avoiding something, Nate; I've known you and your family too long for you to hide shit," Mags said.

Nathan sighed, "Honestly, I'm tired of Brian's shit and dealing with his shit," he said.

"Yeah, so why do you do it?" Mags asked.

"You have a point there," Mags said.

"I'm pensive about this interview," Nathan said.

"Because you don't know what she'll ask?" Mags asked.

"No, I don't want to roast my son," Nathan said.

Mags nodded, taking a sip of her water, "I can understand," she said.

Nathan shook his head, "How did things turn out that way?" he asked.

"I'm not the one you should be having this discussion with," Mags said.

"Haley and I have had this discussion many times. Nothing ever came of it," Nathan said.

"Maybe you should talk to a therapist," Mags said.

"I'm not sure," Nathan said.

"Well, it's something to think about," Mags said.

"That it is," Nathan said.

Mags drummed on the table. "Well, I have to get back to work," she said.

"Okay, I'll talk to you later," Nathan said.

Mags stood up, looked at Nathan, and smiled, "I know you will, and you'll kill this interview," she said.

"Thanks, Mags," Nathan said.

"You're welcome, Nate," Mags said and walked away.
