Ch.8: Building a Home

After taking the time to read, and reread the section of text not twice but three times. Suzaku blinked rapidly, rubbing his eyes harshly, and reread the text for a fourth time much to Lelouch's great amusement. The raven haired teen's grin merely getting bigger as pride over his miraculous achievement finally filled his being.

Suzaku, after making sure what he was seeing wasn't indeed a hallucination, snapped his head over to Lelouch and glared at his best friend. "Lelouch. What the absolute fuck have you been doing while I was out?"

. . .

After the somewhat heartfelt reunion and Suzaku's return to the world of the living things quickly got down to business.

A quick check and recheck on Suzaku's wounds gave light to how well this medical technology worked and how fast he had healed. What was once small, deep bites with missing chunks of flesh at various places had turned into merely huge scabs and large blotchy irritated red and ghost white scars. Still, Lelouch wanted Suzaku to stay sitting and healing for at least another day. However, any hope of that happening was quickly dashed away with the help of the Eleven soldier's stubbornness. Suzaku caught on to the fact that Lelouch was planning to go out again and gather some more supplies for what was called a habitat builder, and the brunette refused to let Lelouch go alone after seeing what his raven haired friend had got caught up in last time. Suzaku was determined to not only get up and move around, but actually go back outside into the shallows. To help now that he was physically able, which frankly was something Lelouch just couldn't refuse.

Before any of that though, Kallen was checked on first. Her health came first and foremost to both of the boys.

On a sadder note, Kallen was still unconscious, and her wounds had only healed by a small margin. Suzaku began to worry that something was wrong, but Lelouch was quick to assure that Kallen would be fine.

Whether that be out of denial of Kallen's possible downturn and demise remained a mystery to Suzaku.

Either way, Lelouch quickly theorized that Kallen's wound needed more time. While Suzaku's injuries were spread out Kallen's was focused on one place and near irreparable. Obviously it would take more time for a stab wound to heal compared to a few paper cuts around one's hands. Their redheaded friend simply needed more time and care. Once the two worked together to rebandage and clean Kallen's wounds and get some water to go down her throat the two were prepping to head out to the shallows.

"Are you sure you're feeling fine?" Lelouch questioned for the third time in the last ten minutes of Suzaku's awakening. Dichromatic eyes flickered between some of Suzaku's still bandaged wounds.

Olive green eyes rolled dramatically as Suzaku put the top of his dive suit back on. "Yes Lelouch I'll be fine. Jeez, I never knew you could be such a mother hen."

At that, dichromatic eyes darkened. "Yeah?" One eyebrow hiked up an inch in a sadistic display as Lelouch spoke idly. "Well I did watch as two of my closest friends almost died by monstrous fish and leave me all alone on an alien water planet."

Suzaku's face crumbled at the light yet harsh reminder of a few days ago. The sound of the dive suit being zipped up overtaking the silence of the lifepod now. "I'm sorry about that. About all the fighting and words from before. If I had just known-"

"I know, you idiot." Lelouch interjected swiftly before Suzaku could continue railing on himself. The raven haired teen raising an idle hand for a chance to speak. "The fact is that we didn't. There's no way we could have known about what lived in that biome. The fact remains that everyone is still alive, and while we're not alright, that's all that matters to me at this moment in time."

"But still." Suzaku insisted, stubborn as usual. "If I hadn't survived and those few words-. That argument we had before were the last things I got to ever say to you-"

"I see why Euphemia chose you as her knight." That statement from Lelouch shut Suzaku up real quick. A surprised expression on the burnette's face as that sentence came flying right out of left field.

"W-what?"

"You have all the perks of being a truly great knight, Suzaku." Lelouch restated once more in a softer tone. Dichromatic eyes looking to the burnette out of the corner of Lelouch's eyes. "You're kind and brave, more stubborn than a mule that I rather despise at times alongside your need to wastefully sacrifice yourself, but otherwise you have all the quirks someone should always look for when searching for a knight." A smirk twitched onto Lelouch's lips and approval shined in his dichromatic gaze. "Euphemia chose well with you."

Somewhat speechless at Lelouch's words and sudden praise of his knight status in Britannia the burnette could only stutter a few words while he was mostly busy processing. "Uh- Um. Thanks." Though, once Suzaku finally got through the cork suddenly lodged in his throat, olive green eyes softened and a great smile grew on his own face. "Euphemia really is great. Isn't she?"

Lelouch gave one stiff nod before finishing his preparations for their next swim. "She'd make a great empress in Britannia." The raven haired teen spoke softly. The thought of Euphy somehow becoming empress had Suzaku's eyes widening in shock once more. "She would right all the wrongs that corrupt place called a nation did under my father's rule."

"I- Yeah." Suzaku shook himself fully out of his daze to finish suiting himself up as well. "She already had a vague idea of how to really start fixing Britannia's system from within, but she was a bit hesitant to tell me. Almost as if I'd laugh or something."

"She was probably just shy." Lelouch concoled. "That, or she was afraid someone else would hear her." Checking to make sure the extra bag they had stored in the lifepod's seats was properly strapped onto his back Lelouch continued. "You know how Britannia is. A dog eat dog nation even and probably especially within the royal family themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of my other siblings were spying on Euphy just waiting for the right bit of info to tear her down with. So she has to be extremely careful with what she says and does lest she earn the ire of my father."

Suzaku looked absolutely horrified at the mere thought. Thinking back to what Charles zi Britannia did to Lelouch and Nunnally all those years ago. It was a rather justified look and something to really worry about. "Why would anyone want to do that to their own sibling!?" He asked incredulously.

"Half sibling technically." Lelouch corrected as he finally allowed Suzaku to leave the lifepod and dive into the water with a nod of approval. Exiting and closing the hatch right behind him Lelouch pulled out the PDA and got straight to work on finding the ingredients needed to make a habitat builder. "As for why it's kind of obvious. Power, a higher standing in the royal court, less siblings one would have to deal with when fighting for the throne. You know, the usual things like that."

"Usual?!" Suzaku balked as the duo swam through the safe shallows slowly collecting the proper materials and supplies. It was mainly a shit ton of titanium and scrap metal though that was needed and collected with the teamwork between the duo of boys. "Dear Kami Lelouch. How on Earth is any of what you just said usual? Because I can greatly assure you that it is not right nor is it usual for one to kill their siblings! Half siblings or not."

Lelouch gave Suzaku an unamused look at what the burnette was implying. Bringing back the fact that the raven haired teen killed his older half brother Clovis in cold blood. Though there was a begrudging good reason as to why Lelouch did what he did to Clovis that even Suzaku had to admit to in the very back of his mind. "Since the Emblem of Blood the emperor has always encouraged social darwinism. Even within his own family as you can clearly see with myself and Nunnally." Lelouch scoffed darkly. "Hell, we're practically raised off of it right from birth."

Just thinking of Nunnally and Euphemia waiting for them, praying for their safety back at home struck cords of deep longing in both boys.

Taking a few minutes to struggle with an uncooperative piece of scrap metal Suzaku finally spoke up once more. "You mean you guys are actually taught that stuff like it's right by your own dad?"

"That person you call my father is nothing more than a sperm donor and that's it!" Lelouch hissed darkly. The appendages attached to the raven haired teen's back responded by bristling in anger as well. Though, after that harsh comment Lelouch calmed once more. He just didn't feel like fighting with Suzaku right now about something as trivial as that. "But otherwise my only answer would have to be yes. It's one of the reasons why Nunnally and I haven't returned to the homeland." A dark cold glare was in Lelouch's eyes as he stared towards a section of the creepvine kelp forest and at something only he could see. "We, and more importantly, Nunnally would always be in danger. Of getting offed by our own siblings or some 'terrorists' and hired assassins doesn't matter."

It was clear Lelouch was referring to his mother's own death when saying terrorists, and exaggerating said word because he just knew his mother didn't die from terrorists.

A truly frightened look not for himself, but for his best friend, Nunnnally, and Euphemia was stuck on Suzaku's suddenly rather pale face. "Kami. That's terrible."

"I know right." A rather fake smile was plastered onto Lelouch's own face through his scuba mask. "Rather disturbing and horrifying now that you think about it, huh?"

"So Euphemia really is in danger from her own siblings?" Suzaku breathed and grunted a bit in effort as he heaved his bag full of supplies back onto his sore shoulders. "I knew the emperor would be someone to watch out for seeing as what happened to you and Nunnally, but to think it went so far as to her own siblings and other family too?"

After taking a moment to look at Suzaku in concern until he was fine with carrying the full backpack, Lelouch answered. "I know for a fact that Cornelia will protect Euphemia as much as she possibly can. With her own life even. If it came between the empire and her sister, Cornelia would always choose her sister." Though he didn't like Cornelia a lot since he was on the other end of the battle between Britannia and Area Eleven. That one quality about his older half sister got a genuine grin of pride out of Lelouch. "It's a quality I rather like from her and am rather familiar with myself. Siblings in the royal family are always more protective or territorial over their full blooded siblings."

"When you put it that way I feel somewhat glad that I don't have any siblings myself. Having to deal with Kaguya chasing you everywhere was hard enough." Suzaku breathed out a big sigh of relief. It was obviously all in a joking manner though.

As the two boys dragged their newly obtained supplies of mainly titanium and a few lucky copper and silver ore pieces, Lelouch went straight over the Kallen. First things first he checked her pulse once more on her neck, finding it to be steady, which was a brilliantly good sign of the redhead's chances of survival. Listening to her steady deep breaths and opening her eyes for a moment to check if the pupils were dilated. The raven haired teen saw what was at first a hopeless situation become more and more hopeful.

It was a miracle that Kallen hadn't lost her arm. Lelouch knew if they had cut it off not only would it kill her, but if Kallen somehow did survive through the amputation seeing her lost arm would absolutely destroy her.

Gingerly gliding his hands over Kallen's wounded arm, a quick check showed that the bandages were holding up well and didn't need to be changed yet. Though it still sort of looked like her arm had gone through a meat grinder Lelouch could no longer see the white of bone and the bleeding had stopped fully to now begin the process of scabbing over. With Suzaku's help the two teens managed to very carefully cut and peel off any dead or loose skin around Kallen's arm before stitching the worst of the wound.

It was looking good. Or, well, as good as a devastating wound like that could look.

Only once he was completely done with Kallen's impromptu checkup did Lelouch stand up and go to the fabricator. Suzaku taking his turn to check up on Kallen himself with wavering, emotional olive green eyes. Giving one solid yet gentle pat to the unconscious redhead's good side. Suzaku's head was tipped down and covered up his expression with curly brown hair.

Lelouch knew exactly what he was thinking.

"Stop that." The raven haired teen demanded before giving his full attention to the fabricator within the lifepod.

Suzaku blinked out of his self-deprecating demeanor to look at Lelouch with a puzzled expression. "Stop what?"

"Stop blaming yourself. It wasn't your fault." Lelouch got straight to the point as he pulled up the habitat builder's blueprint whilst converting the salvaged scrap metal into titanium with the fabricator and the help of his cape's appendages.

"But-"

"If you continue saying whatever sentence you were going to say I am going to hit you. With my cape extensions." Lelouch warned lowly which showed he really meant it. Dichromatic eyes didn't even leave the PDA while issuing that threat.

The threat served to have Suzaku close his shocked, gaping mouth with an audible click. A small huff of amusement left the burnette's lips as he chuckled softly. "Always so quick to violence, huh?" The Britannian soldier quirked an amused eyebrow at Lelouch's direction before giving one final farewell squeeze on Kallen's good shoulder.

"It's a universal language everyone understands." A calm, genuine smirk stretched across Lelouch's face as he started fabricating the habitat builder after creating all of the other required ingredients. Suzaku going to rest on one of the two seats in the lifepod and watch Lelouch work.

Overall, the habitat builder was actually very small. Almost ridiculously, suspiciously small seeing as its purpose was to create structures for people to live in. It also looked like a very advanced, futuristic looking shaving razor of sorts. On the handle grip were two buttons to start or stop the construction while the battery went in the bottom of the handle grip. Two small appendages sticking out and twirling every which way independently were where the shaving razors should be. Those appendages also had two glowing light cyan blue lights on the end.

"The builder tool is designed to construct habitats capable of withstanding extreme environmental conditions."

"Really?" Lelouch said sarcastically with eyebrows raised in faux surprise. "Who would have ever guessed? Given it is called a habitat builder and all."

"Are you seriously talking to the PDA?" Suzaku gave a near imperceptible snort of laughter at seeing Lelouch's antics. A grin plastered itself on the burnette's face despite Suzaku trying to smuggle it down.

"Well sometimes I get tired of having to hear your voice and have no one else to turn to." Lelouch quipped back jokingly. Seeing how his words managed to get a rise of amusement out of his best friend. "If only Kallen would wake up things would be so much easier to deal with." Falling back into a more serious attitude, Lelouch activated the habitat builder and a holographic projection appeared before the two teens. Showing ingredients and blueprints on what the duo could build at the moment without having to go look and scan for more items. "Now then, let's see what we can build so far. I don't know about you, but I for one am getting tired of having to live in this cramped space called a lifepod."

"Agreed." Suzaku drew in a hiss of breath between his teeth and cringed. One arm going to rub the other as a bout of goosebumps seemed to overcome him. "This place doesn't have much besides bad memories anyway."

"Let's see here." Lelouch hummed as his hand reached up to the holographic projection and began to interact with it. "We've got five different sections to choose from. Base pieces hold things like foundation and simple base pieces we need to create a stable home. Course there are also more fancy, classy looking pieces to choose from like glass corridors and corners because why not? We have tons of quartz and glass on hand to use."

Lelouch rolled his dichromatic eyes dramatically that caused Suzaku to do a similar reaction, but because of Lelouch's own antics.

"Otherwise there's windows and reinforcement, which we'll probably be using frequently as we start expanding our base or create another one at deeper depths. If we really must." Lelouch took a deep breath that turned into a yawn, which of course caused Suzaku to give out a yawn himself.

"You know yawns are contagious, right?" Suzaku grumbled as he went to the storage bin to pull out two water bottles. Holding one out to Lelouch the raven haired teen silently accepted it by taking and opening the bottle with his cape extensions before taking a sip. "Show off."

A grin stretched across Lelouch's face as he took a quick drink break before continuing to look at the habitat builder's already acquired blueprints. "The second section is exterior modules, which involves things like solar panels, spotlights, power transmitters and a base pipe connector?" The last two had Lelouch squinting his eyes as he reread them, before carelessly shrugging. "Whatever those are, but I doubt we'll be using those and focus more on the solar panels. At least they managed to stay about the same when travelling to this damn planet."

"That sounds more like your thing." Suzaku stated. Even the brunette had to admit that Lelouch was more of the brains while he was the brawn. "I doubt I could ever create a solar panel without electrocuting myself to death in the process."

Lelouch shook Suzaku's concerns off with an idle wave of his free hand and a cape extension. "Don't worry about that. We just need to get the basic ingredients to make the solar panel. The habitat builder will do the rest." On the side the terrorist muttered softly. "Thank God for that."

"What's in the other three categories?"

"Ah, right. Interior pieces have things like ladders and bulkhead doors, but that's it." Dichromatic eyes squinted at the small choices in the category. "We can probably find more things to use through scanning wreckage and any scattered items we come across from the Aurora." Lelouch moved on to the next section. "Otherwise there's interior modules which is much more useful." A victorious grin once more grew on Lelouch's face. "It's got the recipe for the fabricator, radio, and medical kit fabricator on here which is perfect."

"Thank Kami." Suzaku sat back down in his seat in relief at the announcement. "For a second I thought we were going to have to go back and forth between here and our base constantly. That would've been super annoying."

"I probably would have just gutted the thing to see how it works before trying to replicate it to the best of my ability." Lelocuh stated idly. While he was indeed classified as a genius with a rather high IQ, engineering and mechanics wasn't the raven haired teen's territory. That was more for strategic warfare. It was something he was familiar with and dabbled in though from time to time. "Otherwise there are different types of lockers we can use for space and an aquarium we can keep captured fish in for food later on down the road."

The way Lelouch's cape extensions acted so lively betrayed the revolutionaries' hidden excitement at getting started on building their newfound home. Either way it would be a major improvement to the admittedly very advanced yet at the same time dingy lifepod they were in now.

After another quick sip from his water bottle Lelouch finally finished looking through everything. "Then there's obviously the miscellaneous section. It's got things like benches, those chairs I scanned a while back, shelves, a wall planter, and thank God a freaking bed finally." As if almost saying that caused an ache to show up from Lelouch's back, the teen stretched out and gave out a content sigh at the crack that sounded back. "I'm getting sick of sleeping in a chair or on the damn floor."

"Same. A bed sounds heavenly at the moment." Suzaku agreed in a dreamy demeanor. "We definitely need to get one for Kallen."

"Only bed available is a two person one and it doesn't seem to have many sheets or blankets, but we can deal with that when we get there." Lelouch stated, and finally exited out of the holographic projection to begin gathering the needed ingredients for the main blueprints they were going to use. "Well, with that out of the way let's get started on getting this done." Looking up towards the hatch of the lifepod yielded that it was around evening on the planet, but not quite at sunset. "I guess if we don't work during the night we'll get this done in two days."

"Alright." After the two discarded their now empty water bottles Suzaku started doing some stretches and checking on his fading wounds that were starting to scar over now. "What do we need?"

Instantly, Lelouch started listing off a bunch of items. "Copper, silver, gold, computer chips and wiring kits, some fiber mesh for the beds, silicone rubber, quartz, glass and a shit ton of titanium." Doing a quick inventory check the raven haired teen spoke to ease some of the sudden burden landing on Suzaku at the big list. "Thankfully we've got a good chunk of what's on the list and probably only need to do one or two more trips around the safe shallows and creepvine kelp forest."

"We're not going back into that forest." Suzaku shot the idea down instantly. Crossing his arms and giving Lelouch a hard stare that the raven haired teen met with a long winded sigh.

Switching the habitat builder for the PDA and swinging his full pack onto his back Lelouch simply avoided the topic for now. "We'll talk about that later. For now let's just get as much as we can done while it's still light out."

With pursed lips, Suzaku gave a swift nod and soon exited the lifepod alongside Lelouch. "Alright. What do you need me to do?"

. . .

It took three days to get the base built. Solely because they needed to take another trip to the creepvine forest to get some more silver and gold, and Suzaku absolutely refused to let either him or Lelouch go.

After spending nearly an hour arguing about it while they built up their first home beneath the sea's waves, Lelouch finally got Suzaku to relent. With the deal that the brunette had to go with Lelouch on a seaglide.

Despite all of their arguing and constant verbal spats throughout their stay on 4546B Suzaku cared deeply about Lelouch's well being. The Britannian soldier didn't want Lelouch to leave only to later find out that some stalker fish managed to get revenge on the raven haired teen for killing one of its brethren or whatever.

Thankfully, it all worked out rather well in the end. Both got a near oversupply of items from their venture in the creepvine kelp forest. With Suzaku being able to take most small hits thanks to the mini blaze luminous built within his suit, and a strange sense of always knowing when he was suddenly in danger. Lelouch's own vast maneuverability and cape extensions helped to fight and get around obstacles or threats. It seemed more simple and easy now that they knew what lived in here then the very first time the trio appeared here. They got a bunch of silver, lead, and a dozen gold ores alongside plenty of creepvine samples and seed clusters while they were there.

Overall, the duo only ran into danger three times and all of those times were from stalkers. After working together to take down and kill another stalker on the third attack on their persons the other fish seemed to know better and left them well enough alone.

It had Lelouch curious at the sudden change in behavior coming from the other stalkers in the ocean. Who had suddenly decided to just laze around and mainly leave the two big, fleshy, seemingly defenseless exposed humans to their own devices to hunt smaller, more easier fish. Though, the raven haired teen was too busy pulling teeth out of the dead stalker's jaws and storing them away to really bother an attempt at investigating at the moment.

At Suzaku's green expression to Lelouch's actions and somewhat disgusted questioning. Lelouch merely explained that the stalker teeth were apparently useful for enamel glass, which was much stronger than regular glass from quartz. According to the PDA at least, stalker teeth were a necessary ingredient.

The strategic revolutionary was merely gathering items they'd probably need later on down the road. Make it easier for their future selves.

It was after Lelouch managed to pull out six usable stalker teeth and was completely done with the corpse that the PDA suddenly decided to pipe up.

What Lelouch heard the piece of technology say didn't do anything to make his mood feel better. In fact, it only served to make the raven haired teen rather sour.

"Congratulations, survivor. You have exceeded your weekly exercise quota by 5000%." At the sudden surprise announcement Lelouch's jaw dropped and a look of pure offense appeared on his face which was directed solely at the PDA hidden within his bag. Suzaku meanwhile, was practically having a breakdown of pure, gut wrenching laughter that would most certainly be giving him a rather long bout of hiccups later on. "Data indicates that swimming was your favorite activity. Be sure to vary your routine for uniform muscle development."

"I- What- You!" Lelouch, rather gobsmacked at a piece of technology's ability to apparently sass him, felt rather compelled to throw the hunk of malfunctioning junk into the deepest, darkest parts of the ocean never to be seen again.

Suzaku, after actually accidentally spinning himself upside down in the water from his laughter, righted himself and wiped a mock tear away from his scuba mask. "Oh dear Kami, that has to be the funniest thing I've heard in a long while now. Even the PDA knows you're about as strong as a wet noodle!" Another bout of fierce laughter overcame the burnette's frame, but the duo began making their way away from the creepvine kelp forest and back towards their in-progress home.

"Shut up." Lelouch grounched, rather grumpy at this sudden development from the PDA. "It could be talking about you too, you know."

"Oh please." Suzaku gave Lelouch a rather cheeky grin as he playfully elbowed Lelouch's shoulder. The wounds from that horde of fish were practically scarred over now, and only brought a small sting of pain that was both real and only phantom pain. "As if I could exceed my exercise quota by five thousand freaking percent. That's all totally on you Lelouch." In a rare bout of mischief coming from the normally stoic and obedient Britannian soldier Suzaku spoke up once more and swam ahead of Lelouch with the use of his sea glide. "I can't wait to tell Kallen about this when she wakes up."

That had Lelouch coming to a screeching halt in his tracks. Dichromatic eyes widening to the size of dinner plates as a bout of embarrassment and nerves suddenly overcame him. The thought of Kallen learning about what the PDA had said brought a sense of fierce humiliation at the mere thought.

Seeing as Suzaku wasn't stopping on swimming towards their base Lelouch had to double time it to catch back up the burnette. Once he did the terrorist glared dark death down upon his oldest, longtime friend. "Don't tell Kallen."

Seeing the raven haired teen's reaction, Suzaku only gave a rather sly grin. Oh how the tables have turned on embarrassing stories, huh Lelouch? "I make no promises."

. . .

The base had a rather simple design really. Though the boys actually gathered way too much titanium for once rather than not having enough. Four big, multipurpose rooms set in the shape of a U of sorts if you looked down at the base from above. Seeing as ladders were a bit difficult to maneuver on for Lelouch's sake since it was a rather tight fit with cape extensions it was all on one even level and foundation.

Starting with the first room on the upper left was mainly a huge sleeping chamber for the trio. Though it was a bit cramped with three separate beds meant for two people it was worth it. One wall locker with each person's name on it meant for personal belongings on the left side of each bed while the right side had shelves. Seeing as they had a surplus of quartz for glass, Lelouch made two windows that looked out over the safe shallows and into the creepvine kelp forest between the three beds. Other than that there were two swivel chairs placed near the bulkhead door that lead out to the metal corridor and into the next multipurpose room alongside a med kit station.

The second room was made solely for storage, and nothing else really. Just about every wall had glass lockers on them since they had more storage space then the wall lockers. Only one wall was spared, and that was for a hatch to go in and out of. A fabricator and medical kit fabrication station placed on either side of the hatch's entrance.

Going to the right and down a glass corridor this time, all of which was Lelouch's idea despite criticizing it when first laying eyes on the blueprints, gave way to the third big room of the base. It was also mainly meant for storage, but not on as big of a level as the second room. It had glass lockers, but there was also an aquarium full of peepers and bladder fish. Windows alongside a long desk that acted more like a table with three chairs posted on either side of the desk to get a good view out of said windows. It also acted like more of a main living area with the help of storage. A second hatch was created here too in case another escape route was required. Another fabricator and med kit station was placed in this room, but there was also a radio stationed in this room in case any other signals from probably already dead survivors miraculously came through.

Lelouch was rather adamant that there be a med kit station built within every room despite the fact that they needed to go and search for supplies for it. The revolutionary wasn't risking another 'not enough medical supplies' scenario again if he could help it. Suzaku had readily agreed once hearing Lelouch's explanations as to why as well.

After going up through another metal corridor came the last room. It didn't actually have much in it at the moment, but Suzaku was actually the one to suggest the room to Lelouch's surprise. The walls were covered in wall planters to make the entire area look green and full of plants though it was actually rather sparse. Other than that there was just a single long bench placed in the middle of the room.

Eventually, if they managed to uncover blueprints for it, Suzaku wanted to turn the place into an indoor garden of sorts. That way if there was any edible food in the form of plant life on this water planet the trio would be able to grow it on their own without having to hunt for fish as much.

Lelouch didn't like the idea of them all being stuck here for a long time, or indefinitely. But ever the realist the raven haired teen couldn't help but see that as a very big probability in their situation.

Besides, as the place was now it was actually a rather soothing spot to stay in to relax and calm one's nerves. If one thought hard enough and ignored the sounds of waves crashing along not too far above them one would believe they were back in their own world. Just in a little secluded garden of sorts someone with high ranking in Britannia upheld. Away from the outside world.

Intentionally or not from Suzaku the terrorist wouldn't know unless he asked directly, but wasn't really inclined in doing so.

Otherwise, the outside of the base had foundation beneath it and quite a good number of solar panels scattered across the roof. Directed towards where the sun shined down upon the base to get the most power out of it. Needless to say, when it was all said and done Suzaku and Lelouch were rather proud of the results.

The two managed to band together despite their different sides in the war back on their home planet and actually create something impressive disregarding their few verbal spats and banter. They didn't even break out into a physical fight either.

It was a win in both Lelouch's and Suzaku's minds.

However, there was just one problem the two had left to deal with. Moving Kallen.

The fiery redhead had actually begun to fidget and stirr in her sleep, which was a very, very good sign according to Lelouch's deductions. It meant she was very close to actually waking up, and it certainly had Suzaku both excited and breathing a big sigh of relief while thanking Kami for letting Kallen live. Along with not falling into some long term coma either. Over the couple of days of work the Black Knight ace's wound had closed up more and more. Until all that was left was merely scars similar to Suzaku's own. A bright prominent pink zig zag that looked like it belonged more on a zebra's hide than a human's arm maring up her entire arm in a rather ugly display, but both boys could easily just disregard it.

The two boys wanted to move Kallen to the much more comfortable beds they had just created. Neither having slept in their own beds despite the opportunity presented to them. It felt wrong to just abandon Kallen for their own comfort, so they both unanimously stayed by her side within the swaying lifepod to rest. Trying to figure out a way to move the redhead without letting her get too uncomfortable during the transfer. That, and Lelouch was extremely paranoid about the high bacteria concentration within the water, and didn't want Kallen's arm to get infected even though it was basically closed and healed up now. Only bearing scars.

"I don't see why we need to bother. I mean we've all gotten hurt in this damn ocean at some point in our stay here and none of us have gotten sick from it." Suzaku spoke up at one point. Watching as Lelouch used the leftover empty water bottles to forge some sleeve of sorts for Kallen's arm so that it stayed dry and out of the water when they moved her into the newly created base. "Besides, Kallen's arm is just about healed, so this just seems pointless."

"I don't care. We're not risking it." Lelouch stated firmly and with finality that Suzaku didn't feel like pushing.

Better to be safe rather than sorry, right?

After taking a moment to clear his throat Lelouch continued. "Besides, I wouldn't jump the gun on us not getting sick just yet."

At that, olive green eyes grew alarmed as Suzaku zeroed in on Lelouch. "Wait, what? What do you mean by that?" Suzaku narrowed his eyes towards his best friend. "Are you telling me you're starting to get sick? Or have you been sick and just not telling me."

At that, Lelouch gave Suzaku a rather unamused side eye. That creepy red eye narrowed in annoyance as the raven haired teen spoke once Suzaku was done. "No. I would have told you if I was getting sick. Not saying anything would just be stupid." Though, the raven haired teen stopped what he was doing to stand up and slowly turned to face Suzaku.

"Then why say something like that." Suzaku demanded. Clearly vexed at Lelouch's dark humor rearing its head at such a horrible moment.

As if knowing exactly what Suzaku was thinking at that moment Lelouch's look of annoyance narrowed into a glare. Then, a rather unsure if slightly miffed expression slowly appeared on Lelouch's face as he reached one hand up to gingerly rub his throat. Cape extensions lowering to the floor numbly.

"I don't know if it's anything yet or just me, but my throat has been getting a little clogged up lately. Makes it a bit difficult to breathe sometimes after doing some strenuous activity." Lelouch threw it out into the air. Lowering his hand to grip his chest as if his heart was hurting when everything was feeling rather fine actually. Dichromatic eyes narrowed in suspicion. "I scanned myself again the last time it happened, but it just said my condition was still normal."

Now Suzaku was just confused, albeit a little worried. "Then… Why all the fuss?" The burnette tilted his head to the side just a tad. "If the super advanced technology of this planet is saying you're fine then you're probably fine. Maybe just some rising cold or something from suddenly doing a bunch of physical activity and straining yourself."

"I don't know." Lelouch's dichromatic eyes narrowed further, glaring down darkly at the floor of the lifepod. "Something is just telling me that somethings wrong."

I don't trust it. Was left unsaid, but Suzaku understood the silent meaning perfectly. It came with the experience of getting to know Lelouch so well when they were younger.

After a moment of awkward silence, neither teens knowing what to do, the duo just silently decided to brush it off and focus back on moving Kallen.

After testing the sleeve to see that it did indeed work Lelouch put it on Kallen's scarred arm and the two got to work. It took a good ten minutes. From having to dress Kallen into her dive suit and put on the oxygen tank to wiggling everyone out of the lifepod into the ocean and then back into the newly made base. It was difficult, but not impossible, so eventually Lelouch and Suzaku got the job done. If anything, drying Kallen's suit off and placing her in the bed was harder. With Lelouch still displaying a rather pathetic show of strength in everything but his cape extensions, which were mechanical.

"Five thousand quota my ass." Suzaku grumbled while basically holding Kallen up all on his own. Olive green eyes watching Lelouch struggle so much over taking the redhead's legs.

"Oh shut up you exercising psycho." Lelouch growled lowly. Clearly not wanting to hear how bad he was at physical exercise once again.

Suzaku merely rolled his eyes dramatically, but said nothing else.

Once Kallen was tucked into the bed that only had one freaking grey sheet on it Lelouch let out a loud breath of relief and shook his sore, numb arms. Wiping the sweat off of his brow, Lelouch dragged the two swivel chairs in the room towards Kallen's bed and set them down. One for Suzaku of course as Lelouch turned his chair around so he could sit and cross his arms over the back of the chair.

Both boys just sat there for a while in silence, waiting, hoping that Kallen would wake up since her earlier jerks and signs of rising consciousness. After a while though the sun started to set on what was once again another day, and Suzaku decided that it was time to get some food in their system. With the burnette silently taking his leave to go and cook those peepers and turn the bladder fish in their aquarium into water with the fabricator, Lelouch was left alone with his ace in the bedroom. The bulkhead door staying open incase Kallen did wake up and Lelouch could call Suzaku back.

With the silence came boredom, and with that boredom Lelouch decided to use his time going through everything in his PDA. From blueprints and ingredients to the messages gathered from the dead survivors in lifepods seventeen and three. Darkness descended upon the trio with Kallen still unconscious and not showing any signs of waking up yet. It was pitch black out in the waters when looking through the windows, and only the lights naturally built within the base allowed Lelouch to see just what he was doing.

Eventually, Lelouch grew bored enough to look through the old messages the PDA recorded in its database after going through the information provided on the fauna and flora of planet 4546B. Glaring sourly at the sass of his supposedly 'exceeding exercising quota expectations' Lelouch scrolled down and past it with a bit too much force than was really necessary.

One message that Lelouch was positive he hadn't seen or heard before from the PDA certainly grabbed his attention. Seeing the date and time provided the answer that he was probably asleep when the PDA suddenly piped up with the news.

As Lelouch pressed the play button to hear the message playback he failed to notice the subtle shifting of covers right beside him or the hand that gently brushed over Kallen's unmoving, scarred arm. Only really listening and reading what the PDA was saying.

"Detecting increased local radiation levels. Trend is consistent with damage to the Aurora's drive core sustained during planetfall."

"Radiation levels? The hell?" Lelouch muttered quietly to himself. Eyebrows rising up in curiosity. "I can take an educated guess on what the Aurora's drive core is from looking over knightmare frame blueprints, but I've never heard of radiation before."

Then at that moment the PDA spoke up again. Lelouch quickly realized this was a new update on the huge Alterra ship called the Aurora. "Caution. Continued degradation of the Aurora's drive core may result in a quantum detonation. Continuing to monitor."

"What the- Quantum detention?!" Lelouch, while wanting to yell that out, managed to keep himself quiet for Kallen's sake. Dichromatic eyes wide in shock, because the raven haired teen knew that a quantum detonation basically meant a huge ass explosion-

Then something grabbed a tight, yet somehow at the same time rather weak and shaky hold onto his wrist. The action served to have Lelouch nearly jumping out of his skin from being so startled. Cape extensions rising up to attack whatever had grabbed him instinctually, before Lelouch saw just what had grabbed him and froze. The revolutionary stopping himself short to stare down at Kallen, gobsmacked.

She was awake, and frankly she looked rather terrified.

"Lelouch." Kallen croaked out weakly, dryly. It was clear the redhead was in desperate need of more water at the sound of her voice being more equivalent to that of sandpaper. Normally bright, fiery sapphire blue eyes were shrunk and shaking as she nearly whispered hoarsely. "Lelouch, I- I can't move my hand."

Well then, doesn't this ending just suck. I'm pretty sure a lot of you are now suddenly angry with me.

Yes, I decided to give the trio the multipurpose room blueprint as soon as they crafted the habitat builder for my sake of a short cut. They won't be seeing any islands for a while now and I don't wanna deal with that, so yey. Also yes, I made it so in the Code Geass universe no one really knows what radiation is until Nina creates and unleashes the power of the F.L.E.I.J.A. on everyone.

Now, onto those questions and clarifications!

Just to be clear, this story takes place between when Suzaku, Euphemia, Zero, and Kallen encounter each other on Kamine Island after the events on Shinkine Island and before Lelouch obtains the knightmare frame Gawain. So yes, Euphemia is still alive in this story, and no she is not dead. I feel like some people were a bit confused about that so yeah.

I have pondered on creating new items in the fabricator alongside some custom designed stuff, but if there are any additions in this story there won't be a whole lot. Nor would it be anything drastic like a freaking cannon or something like that. I originally planned on not adding any new made up/fabricated items in the story but with a few of these comments I've brainstormed a few interesting ones. A certain one I know I will be adding will be more for Lelouch. The main use of the machine will be to display real life sized holographic figures of the sea creatures he manages to scan in Subnautica. Lelouch can shrink and resize the image and peel back holographic layers to look at the animal's anatomy among other things. The same will be said with Subnautica's flora as well.

No, I don't plan on having any other Code Geass characters warped to the Subnautica universe besides our main trio. Don't wanna take the spotlight off of them, but there may be certain effects that happen to certain people due to the Britannians screwing with the Thought Elevator. We may never know until the story ends though.

I do plan to include Subnautica Below Zero into my story, but it will be more like a sequel story to this one. But AzrelRazgriz, your prompt and idea on just how to mix the three all together was very intriguing and wonderful to read. I applaud you.

Lastly, I plan on taking a big break from my Arc-V/Code Geass crossover story. I plan on still working on the Into Unknown Waters story, and I've got chapter 9 up in the works right now, but at the moment I just don't feel motivated to work on my other story besides bits and pieces. I'll get back to it eventually, because abandoning any story I start working on just leaves me with a disgusted feeling. Just, not right now.

Anyways, if you have enjoyed the story so far leave a REVIEW, Follow, and Favorite the story so you can keep track of when chapters pop up. Because FYI, I don't have a posting schedule and I just post whenever I feel like it. I think I need to repeat that my posting schedule is completely random, so I may decide to post a new chapter tomorrow or weeks, maybe even months from now. So yeah, if you're invested in the story following it may be highly suggested.

Otherwise, I'll be seeing you guys in chapter 9! -MoonlightWright :D
