Chapter 458: Tree Hill High School
Tuesday, February 14th, Afternoon
With all the effort the school made to keep them separate in class, they ended up having a class near each other. As the passing bell rang, they left their respective classrooms and met up in the center of the corridor. The two friends looked at each other and turned down the hall.
"So, how many did you get?" Keni asked, looking at her valentines.
Sawyer rolled her eyes and looked at Keni, "How many did you get?" Sawyer asked.
"I got four," Keni said and flipped the four cards.
"I got six," Sawyer said and rolled her eyes.
"Six? Must be an off-year," Keni said.
"I'm tired of this stuff," Sawyer said.
"So, who did you get them from?" Keni asked.
"You first," Sawyer said.
Keni huffed, "Fine, I'll go first," she said.
"You are so excited about this," Sawyer said.
"Ugh, no," Keni said, "I got one from Donnie, from Al, "she smiled, "one from Sawyer," Keni laughed and shook her head, "and one from anonymous."
"Anonymous? I wonder who that is?" Sawyer asked.
Keni shrugged, "I don't know, can't tell the handwriting," She said.
"Umm, their loss," Sawyer said.
"How about you? Who sent them?" Keni asked.
"Fine," Sawyer said, "I got one from Burton, Davy, Owen, Conner from the basketball team."
"Conner Payne?" Keni asked.
Sawyer nodded, "Yeah," she said.
"He's a junior," Keni said.
Sawyer nodded, "I know," she said.
"So, who else?" Keni asked.
Sawyer smiled, "Of course, this one is my favorite; it's from Keni," she said.
Keni tried to hide her smile. "Awe!" she said, trying to sound sarcastic.
"You know you melted a bit," Sawyer said, teasing.
"Enough of this mushy stuff; who is the last one from?" Keni asked.
"Believe it or not, it's anonymous," Sawyer said.
"No shit," Keni said.
"I shit you not," Sawyer said.
"Do you think LK did it and forgot to sign them?" Keni asked.
"We're talking about the same LK that sights a quote to the page and line of a book?" Sawyer asked.
"True, true," Keni said, "Gar?"
"Gar is suspended; how would he be able to send a valentine," Sawyer said.
"Chris Helmsworth?" Keni asked.
"Thor is more your thing," Sawyer said.
"I don't know," Keni said.
"Creepy Noah?" Sawyer asked.
"I doubt that" Keni said.
"Why?" Sawyer asked.
"Just a feeling," Keni said.
"He stares at us like we're king crab legs on a buffet," Sawyer said.
"Let's just say he's interested in meeting people we're closed to," Keni said.
"He's still creepy," Sawyer said.
"Who's creepy?" Alesha said as she joined them.
"Noah," Sawyer said.
"Yeah, he's creepy," Alesha said.
"Alesh, my sister said that your sister tried hooking up with her husband in high school," Keni said.
"Sounds like Brenna," Alesha said.
"Which sister?" Sawyer asked.
"It was Chase that told me," Keni said.
"You have a sister named Chase?" Alesha asked.
"A nickname, her name is Chastity," Keni said.
"Good nickname," Alesha said.
"I can't see Huck going for anyone but Chase," Sawyer said.
"It wasn't Huck," Keni said.
"Huck?" Alesha asked.
"My brother-in-law, and a nickname again," Keni said.
"Oh," Alesha said.
"If it wasn't Huck, that means," Sawyer said.
"Yup," Keni said.
"What am I missing here?" Alesha asked.
"It's Keith," Sawyer said.
"So?" Alesha asked.
"Keith's my brother," Sawyer said.
"Okay, wow, now I know why people say you have a family bush," Alesha said.
"Yeah," Sawyer said.
"So, anyway," Alesha said, "Get any valentines?"
"I still can't believe the student government does it as a fundraiser," Keni said.
"Yeah," Sawyer said.
"Yeah," Keni said.
Alesha smiled, "I got a couple," she said.
"Cool," Keni said.
"Nice," Sawyer said.
"I'm so happy; I didn't expect any," Alesha said.
"That's great," Sawyer said.
"Yeah, you never know if you'll get any," Keni said.
"Are you thirsty? I'm thirsty," Alesha said, "Redbulls, I'm treating."
"No Red Bull for Sawyer," Keni said.
"I could've spoken for myself, Mama Keni," Sawyer said as they came to the vending machines in The Commons.
"You can't have Red Bull?" Alesha asked.
"No, she's hyper enough as is," Keni said.
"Okay, water?" Alesha asked.
"Sure," Sawyer said.
Alesha went up to the vending machine and started to make purchases. Sawyer looked at Keni and shook her head.
"Her sister is Brenda," Sawyer said.
"I thought she said Brenna," Keni said.
"My dad's books," Sawyer said.
"Oh," Keni said, and let it settle in, "Oh!"
"Yeah," Sawyer said.
Alesha came back and handed out the drinks. She looked over Keni and Sawyer.
"Look, I know my sister can be a bitch, and what your dad wrote is probably true also probably about half of what she's done," Alesha said and opened her Red Bull.
"Yeah, well," Sawyer said.
Keni sighed and looked at her watch. "We should head to our next classes," she said.
"Yeah, y next teacher is a pain if we're late," Alesha said.
"See y'all later," Sawyer said as the three girls went into different directions to their classes.
