After a couple of years, Pakku decided that Ullori was not so bad either. Once she had moved on from her obsession with Pakku, she actually had some interesting things to talk about. But Kanna still seemed to hate him and her presence made it impossible to truly enjoy Ullori's visits.

When Kanna came alone, escorted by a girl Pakku could not name, he wanted to hide in his hut and pretend not to be home. But his mother shooed him out of the house with strict orders to be polite to his visitors.

The other girl seated herself on a bench some feet away, clearly intending to give Kanna and Pakku some privacy while still remaining within the bounds of propriety. Kanna took a deep breath and Pakku realized that she was nervous.

"When you told your waterbending class about rescuing us, I was really mad. I swore I'd never forgive you for getting us in trouble by blabbing. But we were the ones who had gotten ourselves in trouble by doing things we knew we weren't allowed to do and it was wrong to blame you for it. I'm sorry for being so mean to you. Friends?"
