Chapter Three:

Checking In at The Motel

Sonic and Amy walked through the inviting landscape that was Resort Town, taking in all the sights; palm trees, antique and clothing shops, large apartments and luxurious houses, a nearby spa, people going about their lives without a care in the world.

It was the perfect paradise retreat for a vacation, despite the place's location not even being anywhere near the ocean.

A couple Chao flew by, chattering in their usual language, as a dog barked somewhere. A cat ran across the street, chasing after an RC toy that looked like a rodent, operated by a brown-haired Asian man in a yellow Hawaiian shirt.

Both hedgehogs held hands and smelled the fresh air, smelled the scent of delicious food coming from one of the nearby diners. They could hear their tummies rumbling, the perfect time to sit down and grab a meal.

But first, they needed to check into the Resort Town Motel.

Sonic swept Amy off her feet and zipped across the street towards the bright green building next to the sign reading; Resort Town Vacation Motel, Enjoy Your Stay.

The two hedgehogs stepped over the door mat and walked through the doors as they opened automatically, allowing them entry into the motel's main lobby, which appeared inviting with a potted palm tree sitting by the door and a couple of comfortable couches sitting on both sides of the room.

A TV sat on the wall over the main desk, showing a baseball game taking place on a sports channel.

"Welcome to the Resort Town Motel..." The receptionist greeted, he was a tall man with short hair in a black leather suit with light black shades over clear blue eyes, "How may we help you today, newcomers?"

"Hi." Sonic said, "Sonic the Hedgehog and Amy Rose; we're here for a couple of days."

"Label me colored with surprise!" The man exclaimed, "I never thought I'd be seeing the day that world famous Sonic the Hedgehog would be walking in. This motel couldn't be more honored by the arrival of a well-known world hero, correct me if I'm wrong, but did you race the fastest man alive known as The Flash once?"

Amy laughed, "Now where did you hear that, Sonic would never race someone as fast as The Flash. Isn't that right, Sonic?"

Sonic chuckled sheepishly, "Yeah, never race The Flash unless you wanna lose your dignity."

ZOOM!

The door flew open and a man dressed in a red suit with a lightning bolt symbol on the front of his torso appeared in the room, a motion blur surrounding him as though the man had just been running at lightning speed just like Sonic.

"Did somebody say something about me racing Sonic The Hedgehog?" The Flash asked.

"It's nothing, Mr. Flash." Sonic said quickly, "Doesn't concern you."

"Yes, don't worry, sir." The receptionist agreed.

"Alrighty then…" The Flash said, he nodded to Sonic, "See ya, fellow speedster, Flash out."

He walked out the door and then took off running down the street at super high speed, Sonic and Amy watched as he left and a loud boom filled the air, accompanied by a bright flash of yellow electricity outside and someone yelped as car tires screeched, something crashed and alarms began wailing.

"Ok, where were we?" Sonic asked.

"Your motel room." The receptionist answered.

"Right, we got sidetracked." Amy nodded, "Yes, our room."

The pink hedgehog reached into her purse and pulled out a card with a picture of the motel on it, which she gave to the receptionist. Sonic could see that Amy's motel card had their reservations on it, the fact they were going to be sharing a room made him happy.

Maybe they could share the same bed together instead of getting two separate beds or, perhaps, one of them having to sleep on the couch?

Giving both hedgehog heroes a decent smile, the receptionist beckoned Sonic and Amy to follow him. The two hedgehogs nodded and accompanied the motel's administrator through the lobby door and down the hall.

The man led them to a door with the number twenty-three on it and unlocked the door, he wished them to have a good stay and Sonic thanked him.

As the receptionist departed, Sonic and Amy entered the motel room and saw how inviting it looked with its decorated blue-green walls, a potted palm tree and a sunflower sitting by a wall, a large TV screen and a king-sized bed with green comforters and a light-yellow pillow with hearts on it.

"Ah yeah, this is happenin'." Sonic said.

"That bird in the painting on the wall looks cute." Amy commented, looking up at a painting that sat on the wall next to the bed and taking a minute to regard it with a smile.

Hearing his girlfriend, the hedgehog looked at the painting that Amy was seeing. Sure enough, he could see a pink bird flying across the sky in a pack of green, blue and red birds; those birds reminded the speedster of Flickies.

Sonic noted that the blue bird was flying next to the pink bird, it must have been symbolic of something extraordinary, perhaps him and Amy.

The hedgehog's heart beat as he looked at Amy, staring at her emerald green eyes, her every curve and her breathtaking face as well as her long quills. His hand moved, fingers looping around his fellow hedgehog's palm, and locked hands with Amy.

Amy noticed and looked away from the speedster, staring directly into his deep green eyes. Their hearts beat in sync, connecting with one another.

One painting, one image of a blue bird and a pink bird flying together, that was all it took.

It all reminded Sonic and Amy so much of their relationship, they were destined for each other, it was clear from the day they met even before Sonic accepted Amy as the girl of his dreams.

From when they shared that first kiss, their fate was clear. Their love was strong, an unbreakable bond between hedgehogs, and nothing could ruin it, not even Doctor Eggman could whenever he kidnapped Amy.

Green eyes locked, soulmates staring into one another's hearts and the hedgehog couple's gloved hands grasped each other gently. Sonic lifted his hands and cupped Amy's face, his fingers brushing under her soft quills, while Amy folded her arms around the speedster's warm neck.

Amy raised her leg, lifting it next to Sonic's thigh, in a suggestive manner and Sonic pulled her closer to himself. They leaned their heads in, eyes drooping and their lips met. Sonic pressed Amy against the wall, kissing her with the fiery passion in his heart, and Amy kissed him back.

And before long, the motel room was filled with heartwarming love as Sonic and Amy began making out...
