Chapter Six:
Ghost Biker Is Comin' To Town...
Sticks studied the group with a chilling grin, almost as if she expected them to be terrified as soon as she'd mentioned the name.
Sonic was raising a brow, Scooby and Shaggy were trembling, the others looked at her with near-confusion. It sounded like someone was trying to mess around, maybe try to spoil their intended vacation.
"Oh yes…" The badger said, "You heard right, the Ghost Biker."
Fred held up a hand. "Hold on." He said, "I dunno if we should be worried about something like that, after all, we've dealt with some motorcycle riding creeps in the past and we just dealt with one recently. But still, what the heck is the big deal about this Ghost Biker?"
Sonic nodded. "Yeah, If I didn't know better, this Ghost Biker story sounds as if you want us to deal with some ghost riding a bike and freaking everybody out wherever they go."
"Oh, ho-ho!" Sticks chuckled, "The Ghost Biker's a motorcycle-ridin' specter of fear who's been on the prowl for some time. If you haven't heard the news, biker boy attacked Area Eighty-Seven just recently, left several soldiers out of commission, whole base was devastated and the base commander narrowly survived the chaos."
"When was this?" Amy asked.
Sticks gave them a spooked look, one that didn't have a smile on her face. "Last night." The badger said warily.
Shaggy and Scooby yelped in terror again.
"Oh, some of ya have your right to be scared." Sticks went on, "Especially since Area Eighty-Seven, where the Ghost Biker's recent attack took place, isn't too far from here as it's just two miles west of Resort Town, and if my source is correct, it won't be long until the Ghost Biker comes ridin' his way into town."
"Jinkies!" Velma adjusted her glasses, "Did you just say that the Ghost Biker is coming to Resort Town, is that how and why you're so concerned about the matter if you want us to deal with it?"
"Oh, yes, I did." Sticks grinned, "Accordin' to a fella I know very well, Ghost Biker was last seen takin' up shelter inside the Rokwel Ridge Cave near Worven Village, which isn't very far from here as the distance between the cave and Resort Town is a mile and a half. In fact, traveling from here to Worven's a twenty-minute drive."
"No way!" Amy exclaimed, "If the Ghost Biker's out there in the desert right now, that means..."
"He could be on his way to attack the town tonight!" Velma exclaimed.
"Ya got that right." Sticks nodded, "But I'm sure you'll figure out a way to stop him before then. However, chances are, the Ghost Biker might attack a few days from now or next week. So, before ya panic, you may have plenty of time to relax while you plan on how you're dealin' with the threat."
"Wait a second, ma'am!" Amy held up her hand, "If Ghost Biker's bad news, why can't you call an emergency meeting, sound the alarm or give a speech warning everybody? You're the leader of this town and these poor people either vacationing or living here have no idea about who's out there."
Sticks looked like she was thinking about that for a while, especially as she was scratching her chin and giving off a little frown.
Amy rolled her eyes and glanced at Sonic, who shrugged with uncertainty. Shaggy scratched Scooby's head in a nervous manner, the dog whimpered lightly. Daphne combed her hair and looked at a mirror, Velma just adjusted her glasses and Fred checked his ascot. Then...
"I don't want to cause mass panic." Sticks said with a shrug, "Resort Town's supposed to be a paradise where you can relax. it may be my job to run the place and make sure that everyone enjoys themselves, but if I told everyone that some ghostly flame-headed motorbike ridin' lunatic was coming to wreak havoc, Resort Town wouldn't be so upbeat and lively, it would be more or less a Ghost Town."
"So, wait until disaster strikes?" Scooby quipped.
"Well, pretty much. But you fellas got this, even you, handsome hedgehog." Sticks winked at Sonic, who blushed with surprise, since he did not expect the badger to wink at him like that.
"Oh great." Amy groaned, "The mayor's flirting with Sonic."
Sonic walked up to Sticks and shook her hand. "Ya don't have to worry, your honor." The hedgehog told the badger-y politician, "We'll do everything we can to protect your town and ensure the safety of everyone from this Ghost Biker."
"You'll do it?" Sticks exclaimed, "Well, of course you'll do it! You're Sonic the Hedgehog and I have faith that you and Mystery Inc will make a great team. Whatever happens, I wish ya'll my best good luck blessin' against that nutter. And ya know what, I can't believe I'm about to say this now, but what are you gonna do about it? Go get 'em, tiger!"
And to everyone's surprise, Sticks pulled Sonic into a kiss and the hedgehog froze in shock. Amy gasped, taken by surprise.
'Not in front of Amy!' The hedgehog thought with wide eyes.
"Like, he's sure popular with the chicks." Shaggy quipped.
"Take care, sugar-hog." Sticks said in a flirty voice, she winked at Sonic and headed off, leaving him with the Mystery Incorporated gang and his own girlfriend as they watched the town's leader depart.
"Wow, that… was weird." Velma said.
"Yeah, no kiddin'." Scooby grunted.
"That aside…" Amy said nervously, "This whole Ghost Biker business has me on edge..." She shivered, "I don't pay much attention to the news, but there was an attack on Area Eighty-Seven? So many families must be scared to hear that some of their loved ones won't be coming home. And worst of all..." Amy lowered her head sadly, "I was looking forward to a relaxing couple days with Sonic."
Sonic came over to put his arms around Amy. "It's ok, Ames. We can still vacation and save the day." He said, then he grinned, "But, man, this Ghost Biker sounds like a challenge. This is gonna be fun and it looks like that we got a real mystery on our hands! Right, guys?"
He turned to face Mystery Inc with a grin, but then...
"After we check into the motel, Sonic!" Fred replied.
The hedgehog was left stunned as Shaggy, Scooby and the rest of the mystery-solving group picked up their luggage in and near the van. Then they headed inside the Resort Town Motel, leaving Sonic and Amy standing by the Mystery Machine with the former feeling surprised.
Sonic looked at his green-eyed girlfriend, feeling a little confused more so than just shocked.
So far, today had been quite the interesting turn of events from Amy using Lex Luthor's limo service, her and Sonic meeting Mystery Inc, the hedgehog having to deal with someone bringing up his disastrous race with the Flash and then learning about the threat of the Ghost Biker.
And on top of that, after hearing about the threat posed by the Ghost Biker, this had left Sonic eager to team up with Mystery Inc and solve a mystery with them... only for Fred to ruin the mood.
Oh yeah, because they had to check into the motel and they were here for a vacation too.
Amy pat Sonic on the back. "It's ok, Sonic." The pink hedgehog told her boyfriend, "I agree with you, we have a mystery afoot and the threat is real. But, until a Ghost Biker development occurs, we can still have all the fun in Resort Town."
"Thanks, Ames." Sonic held Amy's hand, "That makes me feel a lot better, I'm actually not too worried if I'm being honest, you're a very supportive girlfriend."
"You don't have to worry as long as I'm by your side or in your arms, Sonikku." Amy kissed the speedster on the cheek.
Sonic kissed Amy back, then the two hedgehogs decided to go exploring and headed off through the bustling town in high spirits, unaware that they and the rest of the town retreat were being watched from afar by someone on a motorcycle atop a mountain.
The Ghost Biker...
