Chapter 485: Kay's Apartment

Tuesday, February 14th, Late Evening

Their night had started with dinner, followed by an UBER across the city to a cafe for their favorite baked treats and coffee. Once their dessert was finished, they raced towards their favorite bar. At the bar, they drank and hung out with their friends. Once they finished drinking and hanging out, they headed back home.

Kay opened the door to her apartment. They both stumbled into the apartment, and Kay pushed Ivy tightly against both her and the wall. After coming up for air, Kay slammed the door and locked it. The two women looked at each other with drunken smiles.

"I'm going to get ready for bed," Ivy said, her speech slow and slightly slurred.

Kay drunkenly smiled and nodded. "I'm going to, um," she said and pointed her thumb over her shoulder.

"Go do what you have to do; I'll see you in bed," Ivy said.

Kay stumbled towards the bathroom. Ivy went to the bedroom. Kay ran the shower, got undressed, climbed in, and felt the warm water run over her body. Kay ran her hands back over her hair, slicking it back. Once she finished, Kay climbed out of the shower and quickly dried herself. Kay pulled on a silk robe that Ellie bought her.

Kay looked down to see Ivy waiting in bed for her when she walked into her bedroom. Kay dropped her robe and climbed into her bed. Pulling the covers close to her, she laid on her back.

Ivy rolled over and rested her head on Kay's left shoulder. Kay pulled her close and wrapped her right arm around Ivy. Kay studied the wrist patterns of her sleeve tattoo; Kay took several deep breaths and kissed Ivy on her forehead.

"No, fair, you showered," Ivy said.

"Lo puked on me," Kay said.

"Yeah, she couldn't hold her liquor," Ivy said.

"It's tough," Kay said.

Ivy looked up at Kay. "Did you slick your hair back?" she asked.

"Yeah," Kay said.

"I love that look on you," Ivy said.

"Thanks," Kay said.

"You're welcome," Ivy said.

Kay and Ivy looked at each other, and their lips searched for each other. Finally, they kissed. Once they finished, they kept looking into each other's eyes.

"The girls were wild tonight," Kay said.

"They like Valentine's Day; it's a chance for them to go wild," Ivy said.

Kay laughed, "Like they need an excuse to go wild," she said.

Ivy laughed, "True, true," she said, "They are some wild women."

"Yes, they are," Kay said.

"You had a wild time once, didn't you?" Ivy asked.

"I don't think I was wild, but a lot of wild stuff happened around me," Kay said.

"Was it Connie?" Ivy asked.

"Yeah, Connie was young and restless. She lived life a mile a second," Kay said.

"What ended your relationship?" Ivy asked.

"Which time?" Kay asked.

"There were multiple?" Ivy asked.

"Yes, there were," Kay said, "The first time was out of spite."

"Out of spite?" Ivy asked.

"I sighed to play in France. The plan was for Connie to live with me, but she got pissy because it wasn't Paris or the Rivera. It wasn't my fault most of the teams were in the north," Kay said.

"That didn't raise a red flag for you?" Ivy asked.

Kay shook her head, "No," she said, "I was young and naive."

"The other times?" Ivy asked.

"She and I met in Paris, and we got back together. By the time I got back to the states, she had cheated on me, and we broke up again. The next season I was in France on an off day, I took a train to London, and we met; it was awkward. I returned to France early," Kay said.

"Was that the last time?" Ivy asked.

"I'm not sure we were even together, but I was home, and we were working on our relationship," Kay said.

"Was that when you had your accident?" Ivy asked.

"Yes," Kay said.

"How did Connie take you getting into the accident?" Ivy asked.

"I don't know," Kay said.

"How don't you know?" Ivy asked.

"Connie was driving the car, and she's brain dead because of the accident," Kay said.

"Oh, Kochanie (Sweetheart), I didn't know," Ivy said.

"That's how it finally ended," Kay said.

"Sorry, I asked," Ivy said.

Kay rubbed Ivy's hair. "There's something I do have to tell you," She said.

"What's that?" Ivy said.

"I might be traded," Kay said.

"Traded? For what?" Ivy asked.

"With my shoulder, two pairs of sneakers and a bag of balls," Kay said.

"Karen, don't tear yourself down," Ivy said.

"I don't know; my agent said it was early, and there was a possibility," Kay said.

"Where are they talking to?" Ivy asked.

"Connecticut," Kay said.

"The Suns? As in the same team that your aunt signed?" Ivy asked.

"Yes, the same," Kay said.

"Well, it will be a family reunion then," Ivy said.

"I want you to come with me," Kay said.

Ivy gently rubbed Kay's shoulder, "Let's worry about crossing that bridge when we get to it," she said.

"Are you sure?" Kay asked.

"Why ruin such a beautiful night with, as you said, talk," Ivy said.

"Positive?" Kay asked.

"Yes, Kochanie (Sweetheart)," Ivy said and kissed Kay.

Kay smiled and pulled Ivy closer. Kay sighed and watched as Ivy drifted off to sleep.
